Hello !
Sometimes when i wanna swipe with my magic mouse , nothing happen. I've figured out that the mission control crashes. I have to use "killall Dock" cmd in terminal.
What can it be ?Sorry, I don't have the answer for you, but I would also confirm that I have this exact same issue.
All gestures stop, including hot corners, which I find invaluable.
This started with me yesterday, and after around 10-20 minutes, seems to come back to normal without the need to reboot. -
Mountain Lion and Mission Control
I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Since then Mission control freezes on a daily basis and will only reset by doing a computer restart. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?
This happens to me too - I think the problem is somehow related to the screen saver and system sleep. There's an easy remedy:
Go to your System Preferences --> Desktop and Screen Saver. Click on the "Screen Saver" section, and click "Hot Corners". Set one of your hot corners to "Start Screen Saver".
Next time Mission Control fails, just point your mouse to the "Start Screen Saver" hot corner, and wait for the screen saver to start up. When you start working again, Mission Control will be back to normal.
It doesn't fix the problem, but it's whole lot faster than restarting or logging out each time it happens. -
Mission Control launch issue with Mountain Island
I love the OS X Mountain Lion, but ever since I downloaded it, my 'mission control' freezes up when my computer wakes up from sleep mode. The only fix I have found is to restart my i-mac everyday. Is there another fix or reason for this?
Often, stuff like this is caused by third party software conflicts.
Does this behavior persist:
1) For a different user, e.g., Guest?
2) In Safe Mode?

Mission Control in Yosemite Creates Tons of Spaces/Desktops
Every now and then, I'll open mission control, and I'll see dozens of spaces/desktops open. I did not open them myself, so Yosemite must be creating them automatically somehow. Here's a screenshot I just took while closing them:
I am hovering over desktop number 25, so there are around 40-50 desktops shown (and I had already deleted many of them before taking this screenshot).
Has anybody run into this before and know how to prevent it? Seems like a bug. Here are some notes:
OS X Yosemite (clean install on a new partition... I sill have Mavericks on an old partition).
Seems to only happen on my main screen (I have a second, external monitor).
Here is some system/display information:Yeah, it does seem pretty rare. None of my coworkers have mentioned it, and most of them recently upgraded to Yosemite. Though, at least one other person has seen this issue too. Spaces and expose on Yosemite:
Though, there are some differences that could explain why none of my coworkers have seen this before. They are using iMacs (I have a MacBook Pro), they have Thunderbolt displays (I have a retina display), and they all upgraded from Mavericks (I did a clean install).
By the way, the user in the screenshot above mentioned that spaces are created each time they boot up. I'll open Mission Control next time I restart to see if that's when it happens for me (I've been on my computer for a couple hours now and still no extra spaces).
Also, I have VMware installed and use it frequently. It does some funky things with windows/screens and I run it in full screen all the time, so maybe that could be related. -
Since upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite Mail, Spotlight, Mission Control and App-Store don´t work correctly. Is it possible to return to Mavericks?
If you have an external drive with an OS X Time Machine backup, then do restore of your last backup. If you have an external drive with a bootable clone of your previous system, you can boot to that clone and re-clone the OS X on your external drive back to your Mac's internal drive.
If you do not have either of these available, then the reverting/restoring process becomes much more complicated and involves purchasing an external drive and backing up your current system to that drive, then erasing, reformatting your hard drive and now your only options to installng an OS X version is doing a clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, then upgrading, again, to either OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. OS X 10.9 Mavericks is no longer available for download and Apple has not made OS X 10.9 Mavericks available in any other form to be able to redownload and install.
Maybe it would be better to explain in detail your issues with Yosemite to see if any of us here can help you with your difficulties.
I am not running or using Yosemite, so I cannot help you with your Yosemite issues,
There are others here who can help you with Yosemite.
Good Luck. -
i cannot use my mission control, laging and freeze, then cuase the system logout. It is same as my DashBoard.
Additional problem is there a lot weird pixel (dot or spot) on my picture when i preview the picture. I had try reset SMC and PRAM, but the probelm still exist.

Macbook Pro Freezes After Activating Mission Control
I am updated currently to 10.7.4, and I am having a problem that could not be duplicated after a 4 day stay at my local Apple store. Basically the computer freezes up and becomes unresponsive. The last two times it has happened, I noticed (Possibly a time or two before) it was right as I was activating Mission Control. I use Mission Control as a hot corner and right as the mouse hits the corner to activate it, the computer screen shuts off and I have to do a hard reset holding the power button down to get it back. If the keyboard was lit up at the time the computer goes down it stays lit up, and the fans continue to run, but I cannot get it to do anything. I thought maybe the screen was the only thing off, but the volume buttons do no make the sound associated with raising and lowering the volume. I shut the lid and open it, but the keyboard stays lit up even when it is down. The Macbook is just off in la la land.
I should also add that I upgraded the RAM to 8g in April and I had absolutely no problems before. The RAM tested out fine according to Apple even after a deep lengthy scan. I bought the RAM from Crucial and I am sure it is the correct RAM for my computer. One would think even Apple should have told me if it was not the correct RAM, or the computer just plain would not work. So I am at a loss as to what the problem is.
As a last thing, both of most recent times this happened, the computer had not just been woke up, but maybe 5-10 minutes after being brought out of a lengthy sleep maybe 3-4 hours or so. Or it seemed like this was the case.
Thanks in advance....Hi Muddy Angel,
i'm just wondering if you managed to get a solution to this problem.
i'm expiriencing the same problem for the past one year and can't seem to find the problem.
the screen goes black usually when the mission control is in use, it happen to me when using hot corners, trackpad gesture or even the function key (F9), on either the macbook screen or external display.
the problem seem to be connected somehow to the finder as it some rare times occur even when shifting windows between spaces.
i tried several forumes and didn't find the solution.
i reinstalled OS 3-4 times and still no solution, i recently upgraded to the latest OSX Lion hoping that this might fix the problem but the problem still exists....aaarrrrgggggggg
this is extremely extremely extremely frustrating, as sometime in the middle of a meeting or presentation the macbook goes black and need 5-8 minutes to restart it with all the other apps.
if you did find an answer P L E A S E let me know,
Thanks in advance. -
Activating Mission Control causes freezes on MBP (Lion 10.7.3)
I've now experienced this issue three times.
It seems that activating Mission Control causes my MBP running Lion 10.7.3 to freeze, requiring a forced power-off and reboot.
MacBook Pro is a "Core i7" 2.8 15" Mid-2010 model (6,2)
Is anyone else experiencing this issue, or anything similar?
I'll try and paste the crash report here next time it happens...So, it happened again today. Here's the crash report..

Lion freezes after selecting dashboard in mission control.
After selecting Dashboard in Mission Control the Dashboard freezes. Have to do a hard shut down to exit.
Northview5 wrote:
I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and can't get desktop spaces to work correctly. When I activate Mission Control I can see the current space's open applications, but the small desktops along the top aren't there. Neither will the little plus sign show up to make more desktops. However, if I make the dashboard a space, I can see the desktops in that space ONLY. Also, if I am in another space and activate Mission Control – if I click where I expect the "Space 4 desktop" to be (although I can't see the image) I will be moved to the 4th space. I can swipe left and right to navigate through spaces, but without those little images at the top Mission Control is VERY awkward to use.
I have restarted, checked and unchecked options in the Mission Control settings. I've tried using option to activate the plus sign. I've updated to the latest release of the software. None of these have worked. I hope someone can help me.
Have a read here first.

How can I fix Dock/Mission Control/Launchpad? (Glitch)
General Description
Mission Control and Launchpad glitch when invoked (whether by using the mouse or trackpad gesture). They seems to crash or quit, and then relaunch themselves (/itself - all the same app?), I know this because:
they both, as well as Dock, become unresponsive;
the desktop background images disappear temporarily (being replaced by blank light or dark grey);
the Mission Control animation stops/freezes and does not execute properly (the windows stay still);
Dock becomes unresponsive as well as Launchpad.
This happens a lot (every other invokation) and seems to be random; it's annoying and is ruining my workflow, since I am a heavy user of multiple desktops.
Behaviour
I usually have over ten desktops, all with active apps open at one time; when it glitches I can't even open or switch applications, though I can use the ones that are on the current desktop (if was trying to use Mission Control).
There is no correlation with the glitch and the amount of applications open, or how much RAM or CPU is active (still happens with only a few light apps open and a few desktops).
It does not matter whether I am using more than one monitor, the glitch still occurs.
It does not happen due to a particular open application, as I have tested with nothing open at all straight after a restart.
Possible and tested causes
An application might be corrupting the glitchy app(s), since the disk breaks after being repaired in Safe Boot mode. Once the disk has been repaired, the glitch doesn't seem to occur until a few applications have been opened, though I haven't tested this much. (I am suspecting TheBrain, but not sure. Other potential culprits: Chrome, Mail, Firefox, Spotify, Skype, Dictionary, Activity Monitor, Finder).
It isn't the operating system itself because I have reinstalled it from Safe Boot mode, and yet the glitch persists.
The application(s) affected by the glitch may be corrupted, and need reinstalled - that is, if they weren't already by reinstalling the operating system (they are in the '/System/CoreServices' folder).
Not-so-possible:
I doubt it is a virus - it would be a pretty pointless glitch for one to cause.
I have Time Machine running most of the time, but I have no reason to believe that is the cause.
I am using a NEET mini display port to HDMI adapter for my second monitor (no idea how that could be causing the issue).
Help
Any ideas on what I could do to fix this?
And does anyone know how to reinstall Mission Control, Dock and Launchpad (I think they are all part of '/System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app')? This might be worth a try.
Specifications (just in case)
2010 Macbook Pro
2.8 GHz Intel i7
8 GB memory
500 GB HD (two thirds full)
Thanks for any help! One thing I'd like for you to try: Create a new user account. Log into the new account and see if the same problems persist.
Many times such crashes are the result of corrupted preference or cache files. The above will eliminate these in the user account but not at the system level. So, I suggest you use a utility such as Lion Cache Cleaner 6.0.11 or Purity 1.10 to clear out cache files at the system level. I've never used the latter software but I, personally, use the former one on my computers. -
I have a MacBook Pro running Yosemite.I did not shut down the computer last night. When I opened the computer this morning Dashboard in overlay was on the screen. I have not been able to get out of dashboard. I have tried esc, F12, and accessing System Preferences in the Dock. I clicked on Mission control and nothing changed. Help be get back to my desktop.
Did you try restarting the computer?
Delete com.apple.dashboard.plist file.
Quit all applications.
Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the drop down.
Library > Preferences > com.apple.dashboard.plist
Right click on it and select "Move it to Trash".
Restart.
If this doesn’t help, Put back the com.apple.dashboard.plist
Right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.
Right click the com.apple.dashboard.plist and select “Put Back”. -
Totally out of the blue, my trackpad is presenting a "bug". Every time that I try to open and close my mission control, or in the moments that I move / roll up and downs the Applications Screen, my Mac freezes for less than a second.
It never suffered any damage (NEVER!)! I am feeling very frustrated because I have no idea about what could cause such problem.
My MacBook Air is running OS X 10.9.5.
Any help will be very welcome!Well, it all really depends on the custom program and how it was written. Does it have an ActiveX interface? If it does, than that's the easiest way to go. If you put an automation refnum on the fron panel, you can right click and it and choose Select ActiveX Class>Browse. The browser will list all of the ActiveX type libraries that are registered on your system. If you can find one that refers to your custom program, then you should be able to use it's methods and properties to control. If it does not have an ActiveX interface, then things get much more difficult.

Problems with scrolling and Mission Control
I have this problem:
When scrolling down any page, the letters will blur at the top of the screen and not the bottom.
When swiping acrross pages in the launchpad, it occasionaly freezes half way between the two.
When I swipe up with four fingers to access mission control, the screen becomes very sluggish. Swiping back down (or clicking a tab) is even worse, causing slow "laggy" animations.

Apps not showing up in Mission Control
that is, when I launch such apps as ones of iWork and iLife suites simultaneously. Some of them are launching very sluggishly (as I posted this in other thread, though related to a different issue), with considerable delay or quitting, I noticed that though an active app indicator shows up, I don't see its main window etc. More recently I noticed that when iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band are launched simultaneously (with iWork apps), then Mission control displays just iPhoto and iMovie.
I repaired all possible permissions, corrected bad font, reset SMS and PRAM. True, I have 45 GB of free disk space, 4GB of RAM. Maybe it's not enough of memory? But Activity Monitor never showed lack of it. What would you suggest?Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.
