Misuse of clause in extended warranty of laptop by service centre to harass and cheat customer

Please read it completely as this is from a Frustrated, Harassed, Cheated customerThis is with reference to case ID: 4756281406-471. The laptop against this case ID is under extended warranty. This laptop was given for repair to MI road Jaipur service centre of HP on 20th July 2015.My complaint is regarding the way your authorised service centre treats customer, as In spite of everyday following them up, till Saturday i.e. 25th July 2015 they kept on saying that mail regarding motherboard change has been sent & acceptance from authorities is still awaited. After chasing thru the call centre, very conveniently unilaterally they put the blame on customer that extended warranty is voided as they found liquid spillage on mother board.  Because for the laptop under extended warranty your service station does not tell or show to customer that laptop has been mishandled by customer when they are accepting the laptop for repair. Subsequently after keeping the laptop at their service station they conveniently later blame customer for mishandling under the clause that, the standard warranty does not extend to any HP Hardware Product that has been damaged or rendered defective as a result of accident, misuse, liquid spills, abuse, contamination, or other external causes.Poor honest customer like me who has not mishandled the laptop feels cheated. The service centre did not show/tell me any kind of mishandling when they received the laptop from me and then after keeping the laptop in service station they unilaterally decide that customer has mishandled. For laptop under extended warranty when the service centre know that such clause exists why they are not making the provision of showing at the time of accepting the laptop from customer, that the fault is due to mishandling of laptop by customer.I also forwarded this information to [email protected] but did not receive any reply from them. Is this the way HP treats its customer that they do not have courtesy to reply customer mail.I will be using a few harsh words against your after sales service setup. I will request you to pardon me for that. May be you are not aware of these activities being done at your service centre. As an honest and aware customer I would like to bring certain aspects to your notice.I have never mishandled this laptop. Your service centre is telling a lie. In case any mishandling has been done it is at your service station. Please take action to stop this kind of fraudulent activities at your service centre. This kind of harassment to customer will make customer run away from hp Laptops. For laptop under extended warranty please make provision at service centres of showing at the time of accepting the laptop from customer, that the fault is due to mishandling of laptop by customer. Otherwise stop such extended warranty schemes. I purchased your laptop only due to extended warranty scheme. If this scheme was not their then I would not have purchased hp laptop.I know HP is a big company; they do not bother about small customer. But still I would like to hope you will take out some time to look into this case specifically. My laptop is still at the service station in Jaipur and I hope you will do the needful to repair my laptop free of cost as it is in extended warranty. I did not mishandle laptop and your service centre did not show/tell me of my mishandling at the time of receiving laptop. From Frustrated, Harassed, cheated customer

  • I need to extend the schema for iPlanet Dir. 5.0 and add custom objectclasses and atributes. I do this by adding entries in the 99user.ldif file. Its not working. Any ideas?

    Hi
I need to extend the schema for iPlanet Dir. 5.0 and I do not want to do so from the console. As per the documentation, I need to either add entries in the 99user.ldif file or define my own custom [00-99]myname.ldif file. I tried this but its not working.
I have made the assumption that there is no explicit import step for the 'user defined' schema files (as it is for user data ldif files). I assume that on start (or on opening the console), I'd be able to see the new schema after the server has read the schema file.
I have verified that entering new objectclasses and attributes from the console adds entries into the 99user.ldif file. So why is the reverse process not working. Can anybody throw some light on this? Also in case my assumptions are faulty, please let me know.
I did not change the aci entries in the existing ldif file. Is any modification needed there? I was logged in as the Directory Manager during this testing process.
    regards
    Sikka ([email protected])

    Hi Sikka,
The server reads its schema configuration on startup. If you manually modify the schema files while the server is running, it will not have any effect. You have to restart the server.
The console adds the new schema elements over LDAP (you could do that as well, you only have to modify the cn=schema entry), so the server is aware of the changes immediately and thus restarting is not needed.
    I hope this helps.

  • Problem buying Extending Warranty on Laptop

I brought a B570 laptop a few months ago as an opened box purchase that had been returned to supplier,  this was fine and a couple of weeks ago I looked at buying an extended laptop warranty and when I was on the site It said my warranty expired on the 19/11/2012 so I thought Id have a think about it as I had some time.  I tried last night (a day in advance) to get on but had difficulties getting on so I tried first thing this morning at work (with a previously saved bookmark but now it lists the warranty as expired and wont let me extend it [Warranty Status is expired & expiration date is TODAY]).
I have tried to ring the UK helpline, but it indicated they weren't actually Lenovo and I was offered no guarantee that they could help but they would try if I emailed details of the machine and purchase and it would take some time to get back to me before they could indicate if they could possibly extend the warranty (not sure this wasn't with them as a company).
So I thought Id try posting on this forum as it seems someone with a similar issue managed for a Lenovo staff member to help them out.
All I want to do is purchase the additional 2 years warranty for my B570 (I have a copy of the text from when I looked before and it offered 2 more years for £55.86 that I would like to try and buy)
    Thanks
    Simon

Not out of the love of spending more, I always get AppleCare, and I've usually had reason to use it in the final year or so. While I'm generally a self-sufficient user, there are sometimes questions that I need Apple to answer, and they always arise after the original warranty has expired. If you have AppleCare there is no reason to be concerned that it "may invalidate the credit card protection side of it." In fact, some credit cards actually extend AppleCare itself by one additional year.
I think it is still true that you can purchase AppleCare at any point during the life of the original warranty. There are also places that sell AppleCare for less than Apple does itself.

    Hey
I was wondering if anyone could help me about my extended warranty.
My computers recently been playing up and I need to take it back in but its past its limited warrant and I have lost track of my extended warranty.
I have a Laptop Satellite P750/02L. I remember registering for the extended warranty on the Mytoshiba.com.au website but can't find a copy of it saying that it has the 2 year warranty and I was wondering where I could find it.
I really hope someone can help me.

    Hi
Get in contact with Toshiba service center in your country Australia and they should be able to check if your notebook is covered by warranty:

  • Lenovo Refusal to Provide Extended Warranty following purchase

On April 9, 2014 I first contacted Lenovo to see if I could purchase a Thinkpad X140e and upon being told that the model was out of stock and being reassured that I could still purchase the laptop at officedepot.com and purchase a Lenovo extended warranty with at home service including customer damage for around 150 or so.    Warranty service refused to do so multiple times claiming that the computer did not exist.    I communicated with them and sent the receipt multpile times and write snail mail to Corporate HQ asking for resolution.
i have all paperwork including letters and emails.  And made at least 4 phone calls to warranty getting absolutely nowhere.   I still need that warranty and am rather disgusted with Lenovo; this is a first for me.   All documentation is available and I have no idea what to do.  I feel that I have the right to pay for spilling coffee on my laptop and getting it repaired; this is my first and last Lenovo laptop at this point.

Good day and welcome to the community.
    Sorry you're having difficulties.
What options do you get if you use your serial number on the Warranty Upgrade page?

  • How many times can I extend warranty (Thinkplus Extended Service Agreement)?

I have a T60, which came with an original 3-year warranty. Before the warranty expired in August 2009, I purchased Thinkplus extended service for 1 year (41C9279) for $199, which expires in August 2010. Can I purchase additional Thinkplus extended service for 1-2 more years before the August 2010 expiry date?
Lenovo still offers 1 and 2-year post-warranty services for my T60 (2007-C2U model), as this link states:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TPAD-PWMA
But I read somewhere that the warranty can only be extended once. Does that mean I cannot purchase more extended service agreements? And if I can, does the Thinkplus extended service also apply internationally, if the original warranty was eligible for international warranty?
    Thanks

Model 2007 is pretty well-covered when it comes to IWS, but without knowing what country exactly you're planning on travelling or moving to, it's tough to say.
    Here's the list, though:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/warrantyLookup.do?type=2007&iws=on&sitestyle=lenovo
As for extending warranty for another year, give Lenovo a call and check first hand. The rule of the thumb is that the machine can't be under warranty for longer than five years of the original purchase date, at least to my knowledge.
    Hope this helps.

  • Where's the extended warranty for Porteges?

I bought a Portege A200 but can't find warranty extension to purchase. Surely this can't be right?
    Diz

    Hello Diz
I assume that you live in UK because, as far as I know, Portege A200 is build just for UK. As far as I know one extended warranty has to be bought separately and registered by Toshiba. Every customer has 6 months time to buy extended warranty or some different services after purchase.
Please contact your local dealer or Toshiba directly. I am pretty sure that they can help you.
    Good luck!

You need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer to sync the iPhone 5; this may require buying a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store. OS upgrades aren't covered by the warranty.

  • Is Laptop adapter covered in extended warranty

I have a 3 year extended warranty for my laptop and my adapter has stopped working. Is the laptop charger covered in the warranty or do i need to purchase a new one ?

    Hey @Vaibhav_Gupta ,
I can't find any information that confirms they are covered under the extended warranty but I can confirm they are covered under the 1 year factory warranty.
THe extended warranty details only specifies Hardware parts and labor.
Your best bet would be to call an HP Phone Support rep as they deal with warranties unlike the forums, and would be the ones to process the exchange. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.

  • Best Buy Extended Warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on

My daughter bought me an iPad 3, when it first came out, for Mother's Day.  She was talked into buying the Best Buy Warranty instead of the Apple warranty.  For the past 3 months I've been having nothing but trouble with my iPad so my daughter said I needed to hurry to Best Buy before the expensive extended warranty runs out.
I went to the Best Buy on 62nd and Broadway (NYC) and, after waiting and hitting the counter a couple of times, was able to speak to a tech.  I use the title tech loosely here.
He first said that my problems were a result of the new software update, then it was too many apps, next it was "Hey, after two year the battery is going to be slow".  So, essentially, it will lock up, freeze, shut itself off, need to be charged twice as much as it used to and be unresponsive to my finger tough (as well as my stylus).  He himself saw the issue as he would have to swipe a number of times to clear the screens - so he ran the "Geek Squad Triage App".  According to my app, the ipad is fine.
So now, after an hour of watching him just move screens and open apps, and putting my entire iPad back to factory default, I was told "Oh well, we can't do anything at all unless we see the issue happen in front of us."  "You have to recreate the problem and then we will take it and send it away for repairs."
This was NOT what my daughter was told would happen - she was assured that if there were a problem, and they could not fix it there, they would take the iPad and replace it with a refurbished iPad - which APPLE would have done.  They need to do some honest advertising - you will have to bring the iPad to us, we'll stare blankly at it for awhile, we'll reset it, we'll open and close apps and then send you home saying good luck.
I am beyond furious and intend to file complaints with the store, the Geek Squad Co., the BBB and, just to be certain that people are not taken advantage of again - as my daughter was - at every location I can find that asks which Warranty to choose, or allows me to review this warranty.
Shame on you Best Buy and Shame on you Geek Squad - you've taken advantage of a young person, not to mention a wounded veteran, to make a couple of dollars more off of her.  She is absolutely heartsick that this happened - and I could not be more angry if I tried.
Up until now I've always went to Best Buy for all of my electronics, my TV, my Computer, my Laptops - but after this I cannot justify going there again.
Stay away from any Extended Warranties or Geek Squad members at Best Buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dear Ftrainryder,
I’m sure if I had received such a nice gift, like an iPad with Geek Squad Protection (GSP), I would also be angered after being turned away when trying to receive service. Please pass my apologies onto your daughter if she feels that she was misled when purchasing the GSP for your iPad.
The information she was given about the protection plan is correct. This being said, the Geek Squad agent should have sent your iPad out for service if he was experiencing the same issues as you had described. I am so very sorry that you didn’t receive that option.
The agents are supposed to do what they can to replicate the problem our customers are experiencing with their products before sending anything out. It sounds as though he spent a healthy amount of time troubleshooting with you and testing your device. The Geek Squad app is a good tool that both employees and customers can use to test the widespread functions of our mobile devices. The issues that he spoke of can happen; however, they generally aren’t issues you will always experience after owning a device for an extended period of time.
I would like reach out to the store leadership at the Upper West Side (Store 1448) about your recent visit. As such, I’ll be sending you a private message to get some more details from your interaction with the agent. • How to register the Extended Warranty in Finland

    Hello
I recently bought a Toshiba laptop with the extended warranty. When I registered the laptop there was a message that I should send copy of the receipt by e-mail. I accidentaly clicked the message away and forgot what the e-mail address was.
Could not find it on your website so can you give it to me?

    Hi Aki
This was just a reminder you can still register your notebook or purchase an additional the extended warranty on the Toshiba pages.

  • Should I get an extended warranty for a T520?

I already have a 2 year warranty including my AMEX 1 year extended warranty.
I heard that if something is going to go wrong, it will happen in the first two years.
Lenovo has a 30% sale on extended warranties.
I can get a three year for $80.00
    A two year is $50.00
Machine Type: M90z AIO ; Product: 3091CTO (Custom), CPU: i5-650, Video Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics, Memory: 4.00 GB,
Network Card: Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN, OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

    Hi JWBlue
It depends on your needs. Some people change their computer every 1 or 2 years due to trendy, performance need, etc.
If you think your T520 can fulfill your needs, etc. for 3-5 years, then you may consider to upgrade your warranty. For me, I would choose to upgrade the warranty to play safe.
In my opinion, upgrading warranty or not is trying your luck.
    If you upgrade your warranty:
Pros: You could save a lot if your machine fails within the long warranty (3-5yr) period. (Parts are expensive)
Cons: You need to spend a bit more for warranty (+$80, higher initial cost)
If you do not upgrade your warranty:
Pros: You could save the warranty upgrade cost (lower initial / purchase cost)
Cons: If your machine fails after the short (1yr) warranty and you wish to get it repaired, parts and service cost would be more expensive than the warranty upgrade cost.
    Happy 2012!

  • Satellite C660 - Extended Warranty - incorrect Serial No.

I am currently experiencing BSOD on my 2 year old C660 laptop - last year I took out extended warranty for 3 years and I have just realised that the serial no. on the warranty is incorrect (there is a 6 instead of an 8).
I guess I should get this resolved before I try to make use of the warranty provision - how do I go about it?
    Thanks.

Im wondering how it was possible to register extended warranty using wrong serial number.
Hmm anyway, I think first of all you should check if warranty is still valid.
The Toshiba unit details would provide you the essential details:

After that you could contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country in order to agree next steps

  • Purchasing an extended warranty for the Sealed Battery

    Hi,
I purchased an open box Lenovo X1 which has 2yrs onsite warranty remaining. I am now trying to purchase an extended warranty for the sealed battery unit but not sure how to proceed.
I have found the product 04W7993 which sounds like the right item but not sure if it would apply to my machine.
Can anyone confirm if this warranty product could be used to extend the warranty for my laptop? Even though it was open box, the cycle count was only 1 and the battery still has 100% of manufacturer capacity reported by the Power Manager.
I have tried ringing Lenovo Warranty services and the Lenovo UK sales line but neither could help me.
    Cheers!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The 1294 system has a standard 3 year on-site warranty, the following are the options available;
The problem for you may be that the accidental damage cover needs to be puchased, I believe, within 90 days of purchasing the system.  As you purchased an "open box" system I'm not sure if this is still possible, at best ask the shop where you purchased it;  if they had purchased it as a demo-system it should be possible for you to purchase both.

  • Extended warranty for Satellite A300-15C

    Hi
I am new here so sorry if I posted it under wrong thread.
I want to buy extended warranty for Satellite A300-15C (1+1 standard warranty) so I wanna ask which warranty package gives the longest protection for this model.
2+2 is the longest? ID: SE5054I-PDB.
Secondly, and more importantly, the laptop is more than 1 year old. When i was buying it, in retail store they told me that the extended warranty can be activated at any time, but now I see that there is this 30 days deadline policy. Is there any way how to overcome?
    Thanks
