Mix single and dual folio orientation

Im not sure if this is a limitation or I'm doing it wrong.
I want to build a folio that has some articles dual orientation and some just horizontal.
When I do this I get an error. Is it possible?

By the way, you might want to watch some videos or download DPS Tips to get up and running. Here are getting started resources:

  • Problems Burning DVD's (Single and Dual Layer) with FCPX

I have been burning the same size and length DVD's every week on single layer DVD's and since the update I can no longer do it.
FCPX was great for the inexperienced user, Apple what have you done !!!!!
Because it now asks for a dual layer DVD I went out and bought (expensive) them and they won't burn either, it keeps coming up with an error message prior to completing.
I went through five of the dual layers and all had the same problem.
I need the program to be easy, it was and now its not.
Will there be a fix or how do I go back to the version prior to the update.

Is Share>DVD  the only export option giving you trouble? Will it let you create a single layer disk image?
If sharing works otherwise, export a master file. Bring that into Compressor and choose the DVD preset. In the Inspector>Encoder>Quality you should be able to adjust the bit rate down to where it will ft on a single-sided disk.( As you adjust te slider, the "Allows" message at the very bottom of the Quality tab will change. Be conservative and allow a cushion.)

  • Single or Dual Processors for Tuxedo and/or weblogic 8.1?

We run Tools 8.44 and 8.20 and double checking to see if either Weblogic (8.1) or Tuxedo (8.1) would utilize a dual processor environment? We run these on Windows 2003 Server.
    Appreciate inisght.

Yep its all in the cache, and the L3 makes all the difference.
I remember when I was shopping for my upgrade, Gigadesign had two different models of CPU's, the (brand new at the time) single and dual 7447's which went up to a dual 1.8 and the older pre-Freescale models (cant remember the model number maybe it was indeed the 7455B??) that maxed out with a dual 1.4..
I remember reading benchmarks (and quite a bit at XLR8yourmac.com) about the older dual 1.4's being on about the same level as the dual 1.6 and 1.7 7447 cpus.. This was all down to the 1.4 having L3 cache on each cpu. The 7447 had double the L2 like the 7448 but no L3.. I didnt really care much since they were relatively the same benchmark, but I went with the dual 1.7 7447 anyways just because the numbers were higher..
And funny enough, the CPU never ran stable at 1.7, my Mac would crash and kernel panic left and right. I couldnt get any response back from their tech support (I think it was one guy that ran the whole thing) about adjusting the voltage on it, so it spent its entire lifetime in my G4 as a dual 1.67. Not too big of a difference but I couldve saved some money just flat out buying a 1.6 instead of the 1.7, and wouldve saved even more had I just listened and bought the dual 1.4 with L3...
John with a G4 - no problem at all hehe! Dont get me wrong I loved my G4 and it served me well for just about 10 years before it 'died' on me.. But after getting the late-2005 dual core G5 man oh man I wish I wouldve done it waaaaaaaaaay sooner!

  • Mixing static and dynamic content in a single outputText value causes NPEs

    Hi,
I am having a problem and I'm wondering if it is a result of my error or if this is a bug.
I am mixing dynamic and static content in the value attribute of tags (e.g., outputText). On initial page load, everything works fine. However, if the same view is reloaded (e.g., after a failed validation) I get an NPE from JSF:

    <h:outputText escape="false"
              value='<link href="#{myBean.styleSheet}" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"  />' />If I replace this with a much more convoluted set of tags, it works:
    <h:outputText escape="false"
              value='<link href="' /><h:outputText escape="false" value="#{myBean.styleSheet}"
/><h:outputText escape="false" value='" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />' />So is the problem that I am mixing dynamic and static content with a single value? If so, why does it work on the first view, and not after?
If it matters, I'm using the reference implementation version 1.1 (as included with NetBeans 5.5RC2) on SuSE 10.0 w/ JDK 1.5_09.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Yes, that's how I originally had it, but then changed it to the outputText approach since a single tag could do what I wanted, as long as I was allowed to mix static and dynamic content within a single value.
I think this is a bug in JSF 1.1, since if what I am doing is illegal, it should throw an exception on the first page view, not work on first view and throw an exception on subsequent views. I'm guessing that this has something to do with the fact that on first page view it only runs the restore view and render response JSF phases, while on subsequent requests all of the phases will be run, and it's in one of those other phases that the exception is thrown.
For now, multiple tags is the work-around, I guess.
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Word 2007 mail merge : problem with mixed portrait and landscape orientations

    Hi there,
    I have a 3 pages document Word 2007 file
This is a mail merge I want to export in PDF using Adobe Acrobat Printer,
then send "big" PDF to printing.
    page 1 is PORTRAIT
    page 2 is PORTRAIT
    page 3 is LANDSCAPE
In PDF pages 1 and 2 are perfectly fine, inside an A4 format (width=210 height=297mm or something)
but for page 3, system changed to a "double" sized page (A3 width=297 height=420) and printed my stuff at the 1st top middle of big page.
So I have a big "double" sheet, oriented PORTRAIT, with my stuff in 1st half, and a blank in 2nd half.
It seems that system did not rotate the page... and just put the stuff into a bigger sheet to "solve" at best.
I would like the same size of paper (A4) but in landscape : width=297 height=210
I have already seen many PDF with mixed portrait and landscape orientations, so what's the thing ?
    With my advanced thanks,
And greetings from Paris, France !
    Vince

    Some questions:
Which version of office were you using before? 2003?
Are the data files on a network, or on your local machine? If they are on a network, can you make a copy of one of them on your local machine and try again?
Can you open the files directly in Excel? What extension do they have (.xls, or something else?) I am wondering whether access to other file types has been left blocked on your machine but is allowed on your colleague's machine.
Are you just opening the mail merge main document and seeing this message? If so, do you see the same thing if you start with a new document and try to connect to one of these data sources?
Can you confirm that the message is about Access even though you are trying to connect to an Excel file?
(Also, office 2007 has some new stuff - that let's you specify that certain folders are "trusted" . I don't think that ever affected MailMerge but it may be as well to make sure that your documents and data sources are in trusted locations).
Also worth trying to start Word in "Safe mode" - see, e.g. http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word-help/work-with-office-safe-modes-HP010140792.aspx

  • Error folio orientation intent

I have a problem with one of my folios. I created that some time ago and may have missed the oportunity to select landscape only orientation and now I most probably have a dual oriented folio.  Trying to publish that folio I get the following error:
"One of your articles does not match the folio orientation intent. Layouts in articles must match the folio orientation intent."
I only have landscape articles in that folio no portrait ones. Is there any way to change it to a landscape only folio after creating or do I have to delete the whole thing and redo it with selecting the landscape only option?
    Thankfull for any inputs!

It's also worth mentioning that you can copy articles from the dual-orientation folio to the new compliant folio via Folio Producer. That's definitely the fastest way of spinning up a new doc.

  • Mixing ECC and NECC (Non-ECC) RAM Modules

    Hi,
I have a G5 Dual Core 2.0 with a pair of 512Mb Non-ECC (NECC) RAM installed and I want to upgrade to 3Gb. I'm thinking of getting 2Gb ECC modules and discarding the 1Mb NECC installed. But I came across a phrase in the Apple Manual of my G5 that states "DO NOT MIX ECC and NON-ECC Memory Modules WITHIN A PAIR." Does that mean I can mix ECC and NECC within Memory Banks and NOT within a PAIR? Because in that case I won't have to discard my NECC 1Gb and have a mixed 3Gb Memory!? I'm afraid to actually try it so I would appreciate your insights. Thanks much.
    G5 Dual Core 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Yes. You can mix ECC and nonECC as long as you don't pair the ECC with the nonECC. The computer will just treat all RAM as nonECC.
You can keep the original memory as long as the two 512MB DIMMs are always paired with each other.

  • Landscape and portrait page orientation in forms.

Could anyone let me know how to have both portrait and landscape page orientations in a form.
Building an audit report and need (would be nice) to have both in one single form.
    Regards,
    Raffe.

    Hi,
You just need to set up two Master Pages and then set the pagination for the design pages, as to which Master Page they relate to. There is an example here: http://assure.ly/ewrLMo. (have a look how the form uses both Master Pages).

  • Will the single or dual quad be right?

Does some have experience to advise me, which model, the single or dual quad "new" Mac Pro will deliver better results for editing images in Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture NX etc. And how much ram is a minimum for same with the new DDR3 type? Also, I do part time video editing (Final Cut Express). Thanks.

The cpu is smarter than that, and smarter than we are. A lot of things are going on below the surface, and in less than a nono-second is even a stretch in time, and changes. A core doesn't shutdown.
I suggest you actually dig into the technical papers and articles on Nehalem if you want to understand it more thoroughly. I've read that ARS article three times and still get something new with each read. And there are other articles. I feel like 2008 was just waiting and researching the sucessor to Penryn class (Harpertown).
The specials are just that, and they get 'hand tuned' and physically booted before they go out the door and usually have above the base spec listed.
I am not in favor of bleeding edge. Not until there has been one firmware update and one OS patch and time for 3-4 months minimum to flush out problems that surface. Some are still hoping the next OS update fixes issues with Nvidia 8800GT a year after it came out (and yes, drivers take a year of tweaking, Vista has had two years and apps/games and drivers are an ongoing experiment).

  • Issue with HP Z820 64GB RAM and dual Quadro K4000's and rendering and playback performance

I'm having major issues with performance on my system (running windows 8.1. Premiere CC 7.2.2). My friend in the office here has a Mac Pro (2013) with 6 core cpu and dual D500's and I have dual Xeon 2665's and dual K4000's.
The problem is that he can export twice as fast as me on mercury software and almost 3 times faster on Mercury GPU. He can also add twice as many affects before his system drops frames (using same settings and video file). When I go to GPU-Z my gpu's are hardly working with GPU export selected... with software only my CPU's get to 60% load max whereas his CPU get's to about 84%. Am I missing something? I know the D500's are almost the same as W8000's (and he has two), but dual K4000's shouldn't be that far behind? And how does selecting cpu exporting get him an export time of 6 minutes compared to my 15 minutes when I have a 32 threads to work with??
Am I doing something wrong? Have I got a setting somewhere that is causing this that I might have missed? Are dual D500's really THAT much better than dual K4000's? AND HOW is my 7k+ machine that much worse than his £3200 mac?
Please help. I'm losing my mind here!
    Thanks
Edit - Would just like to add that the video files we are using are pro res 422 and that I have the latest bios and latest nvidia performance drivers

That HP Z820 should kick the Mac pros butt! For example we run Autodesk Flame systems ( 150k software) on the Z820's with Quadro 6000 cards and they fly. We also had a new mac pro in for testing a few months ago w the dual fire pro cards all decked out and it was crap next the the Z820. Of cource the new MP cant run allot of highend software because of its lack of nvidia support and the firepros lack of open GL but we did run premier and smoke etc  on it for testing. ( Although i thought it looked cool the total lack of exandability and nvida support  was to much so we sent it back). Graphic workstations need PCIe expandability and a choice in GPs.
Anyhow here are a few observations:
-Software being used will dertermine the hardware purchased,
-The dual xeons at the much lower clock speed are meant to work 24/7 like a lamans endurance race, not a sprint race.  Better to get highest frequency xeons.
-Having dual CPUs with all thoughs cores will only work with a software that is properly mulithreaded, premier is definetly not one of those softwares so you not getting any advantage.
    - the advantage to Quadro cards are much more noticable in 3d tha 2d. If your running Autodesk maya, 3ds max or the recently disscontinued XSI you would be flying compared to the W7000.
-dual GPU cards do not preform at twice the speed. On average the second card gives about a 10 percent boost.
-At present ( and as akways) , nividia Quadro drivers are much more uptodate and bug free compared to ATI highend cards. This will inevitably change as openCL over takes openGL, until then Quadros are the clearly superior cards for those with DEEP pockets.
-I think you would have been far better off with a single Quadro 6000 vs dual K4000s. Also any higher end ATI firepro card would have worked since Premier now uses open CL and no longer needs openGL. Main advantage to Quadro at this point (  besides 3D ) is to be compatible with the most softwares and get the best and most optimized drivers. Firepros will work properly in far fewer softwares at this point but I can see a day over the next few years this may change but not as of yet in 2014. So his W7000 wins this sprint race in this single simple example but in most any other situations your cards will actually work and win. I like saving money like the next guy but I even purchase Quadro cards for my home use and experimenting, but Im not a gamer.
-FYI: Cuda core count no longer is true measure. For example older Fermi cards worked at twice the frequency than the newer kepler architecture so in effect today you need double ( actually more) the amount of cuda cores to equal the older cards. Also the true compute power in the new Keplers is also much inferior to the older cards.  Its all creative advertiseing today more akin to creative accounting / smoke and mirrors. What im trying to explain is when people read the charts that show the cuda core count and say the higest is best is completely not true. It may have the most "cores" but it will not render correctly, double percision is missing, colors may pop, anti aliasing is inferior and inconsistant,  interaction ( most important) and shaders will be buggy or missing. There are very good reasons people spend money on highend Quadro cards but the charts and reviews generically speaking never understand or can even test for this stuff.
-Even given the above scenarios your Z820 should be killing your competition. Using a decked out Z820 is way overkill for anything CC. ( Kinda like driving an F1 to get groceries.)  get your HP rep to come over and replace / test your rig. Its free and covered in your coverage.
I am CLEARLY not a tech guy as my talent in is creation and design but I overhear the tech guys talking.

  • Single or dual 4500e for redundancy

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find a solid answer when searching.
We're deploying a new datacenter and will have 20 racks of servers, mostly 1u.  Given our bandwidth needs which are reasonably modest we're planning on using dual 2960s switches at the top of the racks and aggregating on a single or dual 4500e using 10gig links.  The 4500e(s) will also have a bunch of 1gb devices such as firewalls, routers, and load balancers connected to them.  Pretty typical network core.    Given the need for 40 10gb links to racks and then another 20-or-so 1gb, the 4500e chassis seems to fit the bill.
My question is, do we go with a single 4507e with full redundancy (dual 10gb cards, one link to each from each rack, dual 1gb card, and dual supervisors) or a pair of either 4506e switches each with their own cards.  With a virtual chassis the 4506e is appealing, but I'm not up to speed on any limitations that might impose.   With IISU and the like does having two physical chassis vs everything in a single actually buy us anything if they're going to be in the same physical proximity anyway?  A big reason to go with the single chassis is space - 11 rack units vs 20.
If we do go with a single chasis, other than Cisco's HA docs on the 4500e, is there any documentation or case studies that I could use to sell the idea to management?  A number of people, especiailly those in favor of a ton of cheap netgear switches, argue that a single chassis is a single point of failure and we should never do it.
    Thanks!

As you've described, the problem with any single chassis, the chassis itself can become a single point of failure even when loaded with redundant components.  Independent chassis (e.g. VSS, StackWise) provide chassis redundancy although it does raise a question on software redundancy, i.e. multiple chassis are running some form of tightly coupled chassis OS vs. standalone chassis.  Standalone chassis should be, in theory, the most redundant but they too create issues such as load sharing and asymmetrical path issues (e.g. unicast flooding).  If you understand and trust a multi-chassis OS, I personally think it's often the "better" redundancy option.
I don't know if VSS on the 4500s support it, but 6500 VSS supports quad supervisiors, so if you lose a single sup on those you don't lose one of your VSS chassis pair.
Regarding your later post on using a 4500-X VSS pair, yes that might be an idea core for high density 10g.  For twenty 10g ports each, you would need either the 16 port with the optional 8 port module or the 32 port model.
Depending on your remote rack setups, you might also consider 3750-Xs, stacked, in lieu of multiple (individual cabinet) ToR 2960S pairs.  StackWisePlus is a much better stacking technology then FlexStack.  Yes, the 3750-Xs are more expensive, but you might need less if you can bring multiple racks to the same 3750-X stack.  (Depending on how many downstream stacks you actually need, you might also reduce your need for 10g ports on the core.)  Depending on your feature needs, you might even be able to use the LAN Base models which in the later IOSs also support StackPower.
10g is nice, but it's also expensive.  When working with switches within 100m, don't overlook the possibilities of gig copper Etherchannels.  For example compare total cost of 8xgig (copper) build-in ports vs. single 10g (fiber) especially if special module is required.

  • Does the Qosmio G50-129 screen have single or dual lamp

Does the Qosmio G50-129 screen have single or dual lamp in it?
My screen has burnt out (or the lamp has) so thinking about buying this screen off ebay
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-LTN184HT01-18-4-LAPTOP-LCD-SCREEN-DUAL-LAMP-/280597631901?pt=UK_Computing_LaptopAccess_RL&hash= item4154ec139d
Will this be compatible with the G50-129 model?
    Thank you

  • 7600 / SUP720-3BXL - mixing fabric and non-fabric enabled line cards

    Dear All,
I am having to mix fabric and non-fabric enabled line cards on a single chassis.
    These are my line cards:
    WS-X6704-10GE
    WS-X6408A-GBIC
    WS-X6148-GE-TX
What's the maximum expected throughput in running with mix fabric line cards ?
Also, what will be the optimal and the recommended switching mode to run (truncated vs. bus-mode) ?
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
    egards,
    ZH

    hi!
The maximum throughput will depend on the ingress and the egress card for the traffic. i.e. If the traffic is coming on the fabric enabled card and going out on the same, then the throughput is would be equal to the fabric card ( 20 gbps duplex). But if there is a non fabric card either in the ingress or egress path, then the throughput would be limited by the non-fabric card.
As for the mode to run in, I dont think you would have to worry on that as a fabric card would default to truncated mode where-as the non-fabric cards would run in the bus mode. This works fine, as if the ingress to egress is a fabric card, only the header is sent to the superviser for processing using the tuncated mode and the packet is just sent on the fabric directly to the egress port.
If there is a communication between fabric-non-fabric cards, then the fabric card still uses truncated mode to get the packet processed by the L2/L3 engines on Superviser and then if the egress is a non fabric card, then the packet is sent over the fabric to the superviser. From there the packet is sent to the egress over the bus.

  • Can my Pavilion dv8000 run 2g of ram and dual 250gb hard drives?

I have a older HP Pavilion dv8000 that has been wiped and reloaded at least 4 times because my son thinks all web sites are safe, and I want to know if it will handle 2 gig of ram and dual 250gb hard drives with the processor that it runs on, it currently has 1 gig ram and a 160gb hard drive, or do I throw it in the trash and buy a new one?? The 17 in screen is perfect but my son loaded Windows 7 on it and now it will barely run at all, it had XP but his "computer wiz buddy" said this will make it run just great. WRONG, so I need to start over. Any suggestions other than when or if I get it fixed to keep my son away from it.

The dv8000 series covers a lot of territory...most are single core centrinos but some are core duos...some are single core AMD processors. It was not a real poular model and I do not see a  lot of them, but always thought they are pretty well made and robust. To me a dual core processor is the minimum requirement for a useable computer these days. If it is in fact a single core I would abandon it and buy a new one if you can afford it. But even the single core would be OK for light use if there is no other option. I recommend XP be installed on it, but some of them have a video system that can handle Windows 7 OK. Yes it can be upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM and you can install 2 x 250 gig hard drives. It uses DDR2 memory and if I recall correctly some are PATA hard drives and some are SATA hard drives so you have to see what you have before you order a replacement. They evolved quite a bit over their lifespan. If you can give us the full model number from the tag on the bottom of the laptop we can provide more knowledgeable help.

  • IDVD and Dual Layer DVDs

I've been perusing the forum and see a lot of questions about this but not a lot of good answers.
We have a G5 Mac, with a SuperDrive, OS X 4.11 and iDVD 5.0.1. My wife does a lot of photo/video work and has done several dual layer DVDs with no problems; there's a radio button that lets her select dual layer media.
Last summer the SuperDrive went south and the local Apple dealer replaced it with a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-875S. The specs for this drive say it supports writing dual layer media. System Profiler agrees: it supports writing dual layer DVDs.
iDVD doesn't agree: the radio button has disappeared and there is no way to select dual layer media. This is a problem as she has a project sitting here that will not fit on single layer media.
    We've tried Patchburn: nothing.
We've tried a forced update for iDVD 5.0.1: nothing.
Don't really want to go to Toast: another set of software for her to learn and me to support.
At this point, it looks like either having the dealer pull this drive and put in a for-real Apple-branded SuperDrive or find a copy of iLife 06 (to get iDVD 6; it looks like '6 is the latest we can go without updating the OS as well). Cost is about the same either way but I'd rather not pay it if I can avoid it.
I'm looking for other suggestions or ideas.

I cannot remember the options for iDVD 5 or 6. I am now using iDVD 08, and it has a dropdown bar in Preferences where one can choose single or dual layer. I would go with iLife 6. See if you can find a disk for sale somewhere ....maybe ebay? If the price is higher than the original cost of $79, or if you cannot locate an iLife 06 disk, email me. I may be able to put you in touch with a place that has a few of them left.
