Mix up between 'permanent' and temporary licenses

Dear all,
Up today all the 'permanent' licenses ( which we renew annually) were working Ok till we decided to upload a temporary license file into the system with more users to see if the system can support some functionality. Unfortunately, the newly uploaded temporary files had already expired - we delayed uploading them into the system. Now, even the 'permanent' licenses have just expired and users can login into the system but are not licensed to carry out any activity in the system.
Any help on how I can delete the new temporary license file and leave my old 'permanent' one although with fewer users will be appreciated.
Your suggestions and help is appreciated.
Regards,
Davis M Onsakia

Dear Gordon,
My license files had NOT expired because users have been working on the system since the start of the week and yet it was indicating that the licenses expired on 10th August 2009. Hence the only explanation i can give is that the temporary license file corrupted my other license file - may be SAP AG guys can explain this.
However, I have already sorted out the problem after my partner provided another license file - provided by SAP.
However, thanks for trying to help.
Regards,
Davis M Onsakia

What's the difference between OEM and standart licensing of VMware vSphere for users?

The difference is usually the support you get. With OEM versions you'll often get support from the OEM and not from VMware directly.

  • Permanent and temporary partition sizes execeeds maximum size allowed

    I receceivd error 818
permanent and temporary partition sizes execeeds maximum size allowed on this platform
I'm currently using TimesTen 32 bit version running Solaris and I increased one of my data storage size
    to
    PermSize=1700
    TempSize-350
    which is around 2G.
The system has 16G of memory, and the shared memory is set to 0xF0000000 which is almost the max of 32 bit.
Does anyone know this error is a sytem limit (32bit), or it can be fixed by tuning the system paramter? The system limits section does not have any information on the partition size limit. Anyone has any idea?

That's correct, the 1 GB limit is specific to 32-bit HP/UX. All other 32-bit Unix/Linux platforms have a maximum size limit of 2 GB and as Jim mentioned this limit is such that:
    PermSize + TempSize + LogBufMB + ~20MB < 2 GB
If you need anything larger you need a 64-bit O/S and 64-bit TimesTen.

  • Can any one brief the difference between MSDN and Developer licensing

We are looking at the licensing for SQL Server for  our development Team.
The scenario will be a   a common  DB server for entire development team.
MSDN is a user based licensce which doesn't suits for our requirement.
Any help  on this with appropriate licencing will be appreciated
    Thank you
    Shahan

Could you please explain difference and limitation between  MSDN and Developer edition
The Developer Edition is available to everybody. It costs
$59.95 in the Microsoft Store. But it's only available to be used in *development and testing* scenarios. You cannot use Developer Edition for production purposes. Developer Edition has equivalent functionality to Enterprise Edition.
Within the MSDN Library there are also media and licenses available for the other editions of SQL Server. These instances, also, are only available for development and testing scenarios, but there are scenarios in which one might wish to *TEST* against a
Standard Edition, Business Intelligence edition , or Enterprise Edition installation rather than a Developer Edition instance.
The MSDN Library subscription is licensed on a per-user basis, so anybody using those three editions (Standard, BI, Enterprise) must also hold an MSDN Subscription, or you must own SQL CALs for those users to use Std/BI/Ent editions.

  • Relation between records and SAP Licenses.??

    Hi Experts
The Scenario of the issue is as below.
SAP Licenses held by the company is -- numbers.
And the employee records including PD(appraisal),PA & OM exceeds the allowed records numbers.
Qn1 Whats the realtion between SAP license and records ?
Qn2 How to go about in this scenario?
Qn3. Should i prioritise the existance of records in appraisals and delete the least priority after consulting the client?anyway OM & PA records should not be deleted.
Please throw some light on the issue.

    Hi Abhilash,
As rightly said by Suresh Licence has nothing to do with Records/Employees. Licences are meant for the users who maintain these records in SAP.
You can have 1000 employees with those many records but can have 1 licence for the user who maintains it.

  • Is there a Difference between permanent and default tablespace

    Hi Guys!
    Thanx.

The segments which are permanent in a tablespace we called it as permanent tablespace.where as in case of temporary tablespace segments are for temporary purpose only. All the tablespaces in oracle are permanent tablespaces except temporary tablespace. There is no special clause to create permanent tablespace unlike temporary tablespace.I think you will nevr find a word permanent tablespace in any of the oracle documentation. We call permanent tableself ourself just for understanding.

Use separate Apple IDs for each family member and use Family Sharing features of those things (if any) that you do want to share. https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/

What are the differences between a trial version and a licensed copy of RoboHelp? How is original Robohelp software useful compared to the evaluation version (freely downloaded software)
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
The only difference should be that the trial is limited to 30 days use. All functionality works and nothing is watermarked Trial or suchlike.
The trial of the standalone version allows you to link to FrameMaker documents. It should not and that feature will be disabled if you proceed with the full version. Other than the time limitation, that is the only difference.

  • Can you share collections remotely between different computers, editors and Lightroom licenses?

I am trying to figure out an efficient way to outsource some post-production using Lightroom. I would like to share image previews that are already organized into collections (with some global adjustments) via FTP. Is there away to share a Lightroom catalogs setting between users and platforms that will retain the Lightroom settings?

I would like to share image previews
Does this mean you don't want to share the actual images, only the previews?
I don't really know any easy way to do this. I know you can use a plugin to extract the previews as JPGs and then transmit those.
Is there away to share a Lightroom catalogs setting between users and platforms that will retain the Lightroom settings?
You could write the metadata to XMP and then transmit the images and sidecar files via FTP, other Lightroom installations will be able to read the develop settings and then render the image properly (assuming you have the same major version of Lightroom on each computer, i.e. Lightroom 5.X can read Lightroom 5.X edits, but Lightroom 3 will not be able to read those edits unless you use an earlier process version)

  • What is the diffrence between OCI and OCCI?

What is the diffrence between OCI and OCCI?

    Will Lee wrote:
What is the diffrence between OCI and OCCI?Beside the other answers, there are a few additional points to consider:
    1) OCI is the "gold" standard API. New stuff is always available in OCI first, and only later trickles down to other APIs, like OCCI.
    2) OCI is a low-level API, harder to get started with, than OCCI. APIs in OCI are often "untyped", taking a void*, which opens the door for errors.
    3) In OCCI you set values, while in OCI you bind them. So OCCI takes a copy of your values, while OCI takes an address at which to later read the value. This opens the door to subtle bugs where you pass the address of a temporary in OCI, which later crashes in some mysterious ways. So OCCI is way safer in this regard.
    4) OCI is C code, which is very portable. Because OCCI is C++ code, and on Windows you can't easily mix and match libraries compiled with different versions of Visual C++ (VC6, 7, 8, 9), you have to wait for Oracle to make a new build with the latest MS compiler. Just see the number of questions on this OCI forum and the OCCI one.
    5) OCI is used internally by Oracle to write many of their own tools, it's the lingua franca between the Core DB group and the other groups. Since they use it themselves, it's much more stable that OCCI, which is mostly only used by outside customers.
    6) The way SQL objects are dealt with in OCI and OCCI is fundamentally different, to the point where you can't mix and match OCCI and OCI object calls.
#1 above is one reason we had to abandon using OCCI, lacked support for the new in 11g BinaryXML, but that's just one example.
IMHO OCI is the way to go, if you want the latest and greatest. Yes, it's more difficult to code against, so the learning curve is steeper, but once you've reached critical mass it's just fine. If you write code in C++ as opposed to C, you can easily make it a lot safer with a thin C++ layer on top which, unlike OCCI, still allows you access any OCI raw handle to do stuff the wrappers don't expose. • 6945 and CUCILYNC licensing

    Hi,
Struggling to get a straight answer :
To use RCC on CUCILYNC with 6945 do I need Enhanced or Enhanced Plus license?
Cisco docs say CUCILYNC needs Enhanced and 1 device. Does CUCILYNC class as a device? In which case its 2 devices=Enhanced Plus.
    Help!
    Cheers
    Rich

    Hi Rich
I think you're mixing technologies a little here. I can't think of why you would want to deploy both CUCILync and RCC, as they are both performing similar tasks.
By my own admission, I'm not an expert on this stuff, but I'm in the middle of deploying it for one of my clients, so I think, somewhat unusually, that what I'm saying is right....
RCC between Lync and Cisco CUPS (now IM&P) gives you basic desk phone control of the Cisco handset. This does not require any special Cisco licensing, as it is effectively giving you CTI control of your existing (licensed) Cisco handset. Lync -- RCC -- IM&P -- CTI -- CUCM.
CUCILync also gives you desk phone control (doesn't require a CUPS/IM&P server) similar to RCC. In this mode (Cisco deskphone control only) then no special licensing is required. However, CUCILync also has the option of switching to soft phone mode - this will require a CSF device to be created on CUCM. If the user then has a desk phone AND a CSF device, then they would need two handset licenses and therefore be Enhanced Plus.
If they don't have a Cisco deskphone, and only need the CUCILync soft phone, then they just need to be Enhanced.
I can't think of any reason why you would want BOTH CUCILync and RCC, as CUCILync gives you what RCC gives you - albeit for the additional operational complexity of maintaining another client on the desktop (which in my experience is one of the main reasons why people don't like it).
I am of course fully prepared to be, erm, corrected by the many people on this forum who know a lot more about this than I do

  • Free RAM - a dif in iBook performance between 25M and 1G?

Hi...I keep several programs running on my iBook 1.33 with 768 onboard. Activity Monitor shows that at its lowest, my free RAM dips to around 25 or so megs when I'm streaming video from a news site.
My question is whether or not there is a difference in the Book's performance when I have 25 megs of free RAM....or 500 megs? Or being "in the green" means that there is simply enough...being "greener" won't make a difference...
I know that more is always better, but I'd like to know if more is necessary.
The answer will determine whether or not I switch out the 512 for a 1G.
    I'd appreciate any feedback...Thanx!

In those instances where chip RAM is needed (and not in a video-intensive
situation where you can't upgrade VRAM, and regular RAM is not shared)
the chip RAM is faster and more readily is available to priority applications
and the OS X system itself. And Virtual Memory (VM) is slower, due to
the fact that is derived by the computer having to read-write to/from the
internal hard disk drive, and that is a slower and less-direct process.
Another way to speed up a limited upgrade option computer would be to
pay to have (or be brave and suffer any consequences, and DIY) the
internal hard disk drive replaced with a faster spin-rate new drive which
also has a larger buffer - and - more free space. This and the chip RAM
could make the computer act more like a faster model computer. At
least until the hard disk drive gets fragmented and or more than 3/4 full.
There are more than a few things one can do to enhance the performance
of the hard to upgrade iBook G4 (or iMac G4) since you can't change the
CPU or make the system bus work any faster. Bottlenecks aside, a few
items that can be upgraded, along with a regimen of routine maintenance
can help almost any computer not pushed beyond its limits, to work better.
Even with a hard disk drive only 75% full, it can be more sluggish and
waste processing and swap-file cycles (moving data bits as VM to/from
the hard disk drive when taxing the limited resources of the computer)
if the hard disk drive has never seen much maintenance. If you use an
external FireWire enclosed hard disk drive, and learn how to clone the
whole iBook's drive contents over, then be sure the clone-copy can boot
the computer, before proceeding; you could use the disk utility to wipe
the drive and use the zero-overwrite option, totally erasing and then to
reformat the drive again, to clear any low-level issues and defragment
the drive, (plus pull any seldom used saved items off the computer,
to free-up hard disk drive space, for the system to use as swap & VM)
you could also reclaim some of the original illusions of speed now lost.
{As the computer's OS gets more and more parts, updates and also
    any application and associated files to sort through, it will run slower;
    VM also this adds into the mix, with a fuller and older hard disk drive.}

Minor to major background maintenance, preventative, can be helped
through the use of this utility interface tool; it can help the OS X and
your computer generally run a bit better. I use OnyX's 'automation'
selection and also have this utility's preferences set for it to restart
by itself after it runs all of the checkboxed items in this set. For this,
