Mixed 9i/10g cluster

Hi
I have the next mixed environment (2 HP servers with Windows 2003 AS):
MSCS
oracm 9.2.0.5
crs/css 10.1.0.2
and
Cold Failover Cluster OID Instance (from OAS 9.0.4)
After the installation os mixed cluster ready services (on different disks), first, i installed the OID on MSCS disk (successfull)
Then i installed the 9.2.0.5 cluster database (successfull)
Then i tried to install 10.1.0.2 cluster database ...
but installer want to upgrade local instance of 9i database and do not display cluster node list.
Whats wrong ? May be it's an impossible configuration ?
I cannt any notes and solutions about it in metalink.
any ideas, plz ...
Thanx

hi,guys:
at first , you need to know defining of "user_env" . like the following :
A file that contains environment variables to be set before server startup and shutdown. Those environment variables that have values that differ from Oracle defaults must be defined in this file.
For example, a user's listener.ora file might not reside under the /var/opt/oracle directory or the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin. directory. In this situation, the TNS_ADMIN environment variable should be defined.
The definition of each environment variable that is defined must follow the format VARIABLE_NAME=VARIABLE_VALUE. Each of these environment variables must be specified, one per line in the environment file.

  • Private interconnect of an Oracle 10g cluster

Can you please answer below questions?
Is a direct connection between two nodes supported on the private interconnect of an Oracle 10g cluster?
We know that crossover cables are not supported, but what about a Gigabit network with a straight cable?”

    Hi,
I really wouldn't suggest that approach, It is definitely not efficient and not flexible
    - If you have 4 nodes, and nodes 1 want to send message to node 4, the package must go through node 2 and 3? Is it efficient? NO absolutely
    - If you have e.g 2 nodes, if one of the link down in one of the nodes, the other nodes link will also down, this will most likely evicting both nodes instead of one node
    - your clusterware nodes iis limited by the cable which is not efficient
    - etc etc etc more disadvantages than advantages

  • OCS 10g Cluster Installation  - Load Balancing

    Hi all,
Anybody have sucessfully install and configure OCS 10g Cluster ?, with load balancing ?
I'm trying to install OCS 10g cluster with a two node server setup, and using Oracle web Cache as the load balancer, but not sucessfull. Any hints ?
    Regards
    Lanang

Just found out that Oracle Web Cache support HTTP and HTTPS only, no LDAP traffic yet. That why the cluster node installation failed. Trying using iptables NAT for the LDAP traffic, and the HTTP will use web cache.

    Hi frnds
I am getting the following error while running 10g clusterware installation.Actually i done the ssh setup mentioned in the oracle doc.Generated both keys (rsa, dsa) on both nodes and copied these 2 files from both nodes to authorized_key file and copy this file to both nodes and ran $shell and ssh-add.Whenever i logs and run this SSH User Equivalency on node1(from where i run oui) and its persisting with other sessions but if logoff and logon i have to run the $shell and ssh-add to enable it.My dought is whether this ssh have to enable always or only while using OUI to install and applying patches cos this Equivalency dont need to run on second node correct ?

  • Concurrent behavior of DB adapter on SOA 10g Cluster

    Hi all,
We have currently setup SOA 10g(10.1.3.5.2) cluster.According to Oracle documentation other than File/FTP adapters all other adapters behave concurrently i.e; we can have these adapters in active-active topology in the cluster.
Now we have a built a sample ESB project with inbound DB adapter and two routing rules. One invoking a BPEL process and another creating a File.
We have the DB adapter in active-active mode. Now at runtime when we insert some record into a table polled by the above DB adapter, we find that duplicate BPEL instances are created and duplicate files get created(on both application hosts).
However if I change the active-active topology of the adapter into active-passive topology by inserting clusterGroupId property on endpoint of the adapter then only a single BPEL instance and single File is created.
Please let us know how we can achieve the above with active-active mode of the adapters.
    Thnks & Rgds,
    Mandrita

    Hi Anuj,
Thanks for your response. However when we enabling distributed polling then we find that the behavior is not consistent.
I am explaining the inconsistency below-
When ESB_DT with service-weight=100 is up then ESB to BPEL invocation(SOAP) creates duplicate BPEL instances but when I shutdown that ESB_DT and the other ESB_DT with service-weight = 50 goes up then we find that duplicate BPEL instances are not getting created.
So is this a default behavior i.e; active-active topology behavior is not consistent?
    Thnks & Rgds,

Can this be extended to 3 node cluster? So is it possible to "add" a node to the cluster? Please point me to the right content describing how this can be done.

You can see in the log it is a Timeout exception.
    Please do the following:
    1. Shutdown Oracle Application Server
    2. Set value of maxSyncWaitTime property in $OH/bpel/domains/<domain-name>/config/domain.xml files according to the time
any BPEL process deployed in the doman can wait for response from synchronous process. This value depends on kinds of
synchronous processes participating in the BPEL process.
    3. Set values of all transaction-timeout properties in $OH/j2ee/oc4j_soa/application-deployments/orabple/ejb-ob-engine/orion-ejb-jar.xml
file, so, it would be larger than maxSyncWaitTime defined in previous action. It defines the maximum length of any transaction for
    BPEL session bean.
    4. Set value of Global Transaction Timeout property - transaction-timeout in $OH/j2ee/home/config/transaction-manager.xml file.
This transaction-timeout property defines transaction timeout for any iAS transaction including Database one and its value should
be larger, than any transaction-timeout defined in previous action.
    5. Start Oracle Application Server

  • SOA 10g: Cluster set up-Help is appreciated

    All,
    version: 10.1.3.4
I'm trying to set up vertical cluster in my WIN 2008 dev env. This is my understanding, pls correct if im wrong
    1. two nodes to be created (i.e two oracle_home (ex: Oracle_AS1 and Oracle_AS2) in the same box (ex: orafusmachine)
    2. each node will have 1 oc4j instance.
    3. make the two nodes into cluster by modifying the opmn.xml of each nodes(ex: <nodes list="orafusmachine.com:6200,orafusmachine.com:6201"/>)
4.set the ant orabpel property to 'true'
    5. If I deploy my BPEL to any one of the node, I should be able to see the deployment happen to both the nodes.
In this set up, I don't want to set up external load balancer. In this case, how do i achieve the cluster?
    thanks

If you have just purchased and downloaded Premiere Elements 12, I suspect that you did not purchase it direct from Adobe since Adobe is no longer selling Premiere Elements 12.
If you were purchasing from Adobe direct, I would have expected a Adobe Premiere Elements 12 Folder on your desktop. In that folder would be a PRE12 Folder and a ReadMe Folder.
You would open the PRE12 Folder and use the setup.exe file inside it to start the Premiere Elements 12 installation. In that scenario, the computer 32 or 64 bit matter would be behind the scenes as it were.
I am assuming that you have Windows 8 64 bit computer. In that case, open the PRE 64 Folder, find the setup.exe inside, and double click the setup.exe to start the installation. Important. Have you received a purchased serial number for Premiere Elements 12 from the seller? If not, do not bother continuing with the installation until you get the purchased serial number.
Best do these downloads and installs with the antivirus and firewall(s) of your computer disabled.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need clarification.
    Thank you.

  • Making new oracle 10g cluster in redhat enterprise linux

    Hy All
i have installed redhat enterprise server in 2 systems and both are attached with SANE network storage. i want to configure oracle 10 g clustering with this setup.
should i have to configure clustering in linux only or there is a feature of clustering in oracle?
if yes than how to do that? i dont have any idea about oracle
    please somebody help me
    with regards,
    ali

    Hi Ali!
Hardware clustering is differnet from Oracle clustering.
If you have the database you should investigate RAC http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/to_toc?pathname=rac.102%2Fb14197%2Ftoc.htm&remark=portal+%28Administration%29
For the Application Server have a look at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_18/core.1012/b14003/toc.htm
Hardware clustering with RedHat could be achieved with Piranha.

  • Is a 11g cluster (11.1.0.7 ) can be use with 10g RDBMS (10.2.0.4)?

    Hi,
We would like to upgrade to version 11g our 10g cluster (servers).
We would like to keep the rdbms to 10.2.0.4 for a couple of weeks, the time to be shure all the application do not have impact with the new RDBMS version (optimisation and performance).
In one single word, is it possible and secure to upgrade our cluster in 2 step?
    1e step upgrade the cluster
2e step upgrade the rdbms (few weeks later)
I know i should upgade de two componants but is it possible and what can be the impact ?
I forgot to say the cluster is a 64-bit version

  • Running 9i RAC and 10g RAC on the same physical cluster

We are planning to run 9i RAC ( with OCFS2 ) and 10g RAC ( ASM ) on the same cluster with 4-Nodes.
I will really appreciate if any of the forum members can share the information and experiences if the have done such implementation. We are currently running six 9i R2 clusters and are in the process of migrating them. The current need is to make the 9i and 10g cluster co-exist up to a certain point.
    Thank You,
    Madhu

Yes this is possible.. you may want to check out some papers relating to this on OTN and on the RAC SIG website at www.oracleracsig.org.

  • Is it possible to install oracle clusterware on top of rh cluster suite

    Dear All,
We are planning to install oracle 10g / 11g RAC Clusterware on top of RH CLuster Suite in order to support the scalability on connecting servers. Is it possible to do the same. If it so either it is good approach or bad approach. I am in very need of your comments on the same the pros and cons on the above if the implementation is possible. kindly do the needful
    thanks and regards
    suresh kumar t

    They're different kinds of clusters:
    RH cluster is active-passive
    RAC is active-active
So you can mix a RH cluster with services like webservers, other mysql databases, app servers, etc... and the Oracle RAC on the same machine, but I wouldn't make RHcluster control Oracle RAC services, cause they're different systems, with very different architecture.
What It's possible is to control RH cluster services through Oracle RAC clusterware, adding the RH cluster services as CRS services. You can do so with $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/crs_register
Hope you find this information helpful.

  • JNDI replication within a cluster

    Hi to all of you,
we successfully enabled HTTP Session replication and tested the failover. We would also like to setup a JNDI replication, so that we can use it as a storage for some shared data -- as stated in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_05/web.904/b10324/cluster.htm this should be enabled automatically, once EJB replication is enabled.
With some problems we finally enabled EJB replication (we configured it through orion-application.xml) and the required replication policy is propagated to our statful beans. Anyway, the JNDI is still not replicated over the machines.
We are running latest OAS 10g, cluster is MultiCast on RedHat Enterprise, replication policy for Stateful beans is set to 'onRequestEnd' (we tried all the options :), our application is normal ear with 1 ejb and 1 war archive and apart from JNDI replication, it works as expected.
Is there some trick that is not mentioned or that we may overlooked in documentation to enable JNDI replication?
    Kind Regards,
    Martin

Hopefully solved -- though the documentation explicitly mentions rebinding as not working, after any changes made to value stored in JNDI context you should just re-bind the value to the JNDI context; the value is replicated to other JNDI contexts.

  • Red Hat Cluster Suite without the use of RAC

    Hi,
I want to install Oracle 9i/10g database on two nodes in linux redhat AS 3. I want to use Red Hat Cluster Suite for clustering and failover the Oracle db without the use of RAC. Is it possible and would it be sufficient enough ? Does Red Hat Cluster Suite support with Oracle 10g or just 9i ? With Red HAt Cluster Suite, would it require to have one virtual IP ?
    Thanks

If you want failover all you need is a dataguard solution and skip out on cluster suite.
If you want Distributed Database then you need RAC.. You can't implement a 9i/10g cluster per say by using an OS solution vs an Oracle solution.
    Node A - Primary
    Node B - Secondary
    Node A -> B (DataGuard redo replication)
Process Management scripts to switch users from A to B and vice versa pending recovery of instances. Cluster suite has no involvement outside of what may be nice nice system management capability.
