Mixed CD has gap between songs

Hi all, When listening to the ipod itself, I gat a split second gap between songs. I have selected the "gapless" feature in the itunes "get info" tabs on the songs. The songs flow together nicely when listening to them on my computer via itunes but when listening to the CD from the ipod itself I still get a small gap. How can I avoid this? Please help. Thank you!!

By "mixed cd" are you referring to one that contains various tracks and you've created yourself and burned to cd?
If the tracks are not meant to flow into one another (such as those on The Beatles Sgt Pepper for example), you will have a gap.

Thanks Chris but according to Pioneer, is was possible with the itunes in 2010.
It wasn't. (at least as far as setting Part of Gapless album goes. See next para.)
They claim that itunes will work if you select gapless album, part of a compilation
Selecting Gapless album does not make it gapless. (which is likely that now this option is removed - to not confuse people)
The ONLY thing that option did was tell iTunes to NOT crossfade consecutive songs from same gapless album IF you had crossfade enabled.

Setting the gap to 0 is what made it "seem" gapless.
Perhaps it is not working as it used to.
    Try a slower burn speed.
and used itunes to convert them to mp3
Dont know why they suggest this.
Simply use the WAV file. Then there will be no loss (as there is when converted to MP3).

  • I need to add a gap between songs when burning a CD

I just upgraded to iTunes 9.2.0.61, hoping that it would solve my problem. I need to add (yes, ADD) a gap between songs. I'm burning a CD to be used during a performance, and there's a reason that I need 10 seconds of silence after the first song. I believe in previous versions I could add a gap between songs...using Get Info, then Options, but now it just gives me a start and end time for songs. How can I add a 10 second gap between the first two songs?

Add a track consisting of 10 seconds of silence. I made you one in crystal clear MP3 stereo. You can get it here: http://rcpt.yousendit.com/907964971/c4d2c9e22762a8911f4e431a1e2a4e2c
Just put it in the library and then add it to your playlist wherever you need it.
iTunes lets you add a gap between songs, but only up to 5 seconds, and it has to be the same every time.

  • Gaps between songs

    Hi,
During playback my iPod and iTunes are forcing gaps between songs.
In iTunes I have selected "no gaps" in Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Burning, and, as suggested in the FAQs/forums, I have selected "Crossfade Playback" in Edit>Preferences>Playback and set it to 0 seconds.
Even after this, my iPod still forces gaps between songs, and iTunes actually seems to be slightly overlapping songs.
This may seem anal, but I just want to listen to mix CDs as they were intended to sound on my iPod!
    Any ideas?

    Hi kshaws21,
Have you tried going to Edit>Preferences>Playback? Here you can set "Crossfade Playback" to 0 seconds (although this will still give you a fraction of a second crossfade) or you can deselect it altogether and you'll have gaps between your songs.
    Everyone else,
    I
refuse to believe that iPods don't support gapless playback. What, Apple have never heard of the mix CD?
    Any more ideas?
    Cheers

  • How do I get rid of gaps between songs??

    Hi,
I am trying to record a mix CD into iTunes but there are gaps between songs.
I know that you can take these gaps out by making the CD into one long track on your ipod, but is there anyway I can get rid of the gaps and keep them as seperate tracks, like on the CD?

In the burning options, change the time between tracks from two seconds to zero seconds.

  • How do I vary the gap between songs?

I would like to vary the gap between the songs I burn on a CD. This would be especially useful when recording certain classical pieces. The iTunes Preference for "Gap between Songs" will only let me choose a uniform gap between all tracks. Does anyone know if this gap can be made different between tracks? Thank you. Maria

Sorry, but you may only select the same gap between all tracks (when using iTunes).
If you want o use different gaps between those tracks, you have to switch to a commercial burning application like oast.

  • How can I shorten the gap between songs?

I have this awkward gap in between songs. Crossfade is ridiculous and doesn't shorten the gap. Any way to get one song to fade into the next with no silence?

Is there a 4 second gap at the end or start of the two songs that gap is between? In other words, song 1 to song 2, the end of song 1 might have 4 seconds of silence at the end of it. iTunes adds its 2 seconds and the end result is what sounds like a six second gap.

You have to insert the CD, select the tracks to join and then import it.

  • Music stopping and starting, huge gaps between songs

I listen to music via Match daily.  Beginning last month I've been experiencing music stopping and starting, big gaps between tracks, and clunky behavior in general.  It's comes and goes but over the last week it's been terrible.  Is anyone experiencing this?  I have tried re-initializing match on my iPhone but it doesn't seem to work.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Playback. Turn off crossfading if enabled...
iTunes will attempt to play tracks that were recorded gaplessly without adding an artifical gap, it won't attempt to remove the gaps between tracks that were there in the original recording, unless you've enabled crossfade. You can't make it add gaps to what should be gapless transitons on the album. If you really need this you could make a playlist and include blank mp3s as a separator.

  • How can I get rid of the two-second gap between songs?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Inside the iTunes program
Right click on the iPod icon
    Select 'iPod options'
    Select 'Playback' folder
I use a 6 second crossfade playback - kind of like FM radio programming phases a song in or out
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I reduce the time between songs to zero for seemless mixing

Hi, Ive only just got my 5th generation Ipod and was wondering if its possible to reduce the time gap between songs to zero. I.E a lot of Cd's and albums I have are mixed so it doesnt seem there is a pause between each song but when I put the cd's onto my ipod there is still a pause.
For example I have a 2 many djs album which is heavily mixed with a new song every 30 seconds so it is a bit of a nuisance if there is a pause every 30 seconds.

Your question gets asked on a daily basis, and has been answered many times. If you search for 'gapless playback' you'll see how just how many people inquire about this.
In short... the iPod does not support gapless playback.
If you want to eliminate the gaps, one workaround is to join the individual tracks together, and play them as one single track. You can do this by reimporting the CD into iTunes using the 'Join CD Tracks' feature.
See Step 3 in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93079
If you'd like to send feedback to Apple to ask that they include gapless playback as a feature in future revisions of the iPod firmware, you can do so on this feedback page.

  • Playback without gaps between tracks... ?

Please can someone help me. I have lots of mixed CDs and would like to listen to them on my Nano without the standard 2 second gap between tracks!
    Any ideas

This question is one that crops up a lot on these forums and has been a major source of complaint for as long as the iPod has been in existence.
Currently the only way to eliminate the gap between songs is to import the cd as one track. You do this by using the “join cd tracks” option in the advanced menu of iTunes.
Make sure the tracks are in their correct order, and highlight those you wish to join.
No gaps, but the downside is that you will of course lose the ability to navigate between tracks, and the song info is also lost. The iPod will display the cd title in the song field in the “now playing” screen . You’ll also have one large file instead of a number of smaller ones.
Be aware also that playback of single large audio files can shorten battery playtime between charges.

  • How can I eliminate the pause between songs on playback on the Nano?

I recently downloaded an album by Steve Reich that is intended to be played as one long uninterrupted song. The album is divided into tracks, however, and my iPod Nano always stops for a second or two between songs.
Is there anyway to get it to play them continuously without interruption?

  • Gap between selections

I've noticed that there's a small, but noticeable, interruption in the flow of music between selections (or bands, or songs, or whatever the correct terminology is) when I load music onto my iPod mini.
In a symphony, for instance, one movement may be broken into a few parts on the original CD. The parts play seamlessly on my regular CD player, and they alsom play seamlessly when I play the CD on my computer. But when I import them to my iPod (even at a higher-quality setting), there's a hiccup for a fraction of a second between parts. I haven't added any extra time between selections and wouldn't know how to even if I wanted to.
This hiccup is rather jarring to listen to.
is such a break part of iPod's structure, part of iTunes? Does anyone know how to overcome this -- such as being able to fuse two selections together so they become one selection?
