Mixed CD's with Track Indexes?

Hello All,
Is there a way or is it going to be possible to have track index markers for mixed CD compilations that I've imported "joined". Then I could have artist info for the songs of a joined mix compilation. Being able to skip past a track in the mix would be great.
Thanks

I don't believe that link refers to creating your own mixes as the reply states that it can be used if (say) you have downloaded a long mix from somewhere.
In any event, you'll need to find software of a similar nature as iTunes won't do what you want.

  • Mixing a voice with backing tracks

Anyone have any suggestions on how to bring a voice more the the "front" of a mix against some backing tracks? I have tried a few different EQs, mild compression, etc. It has gotten significantly better but its not quite there yet.

Sometimes lowering mids or midrange instruments like guitars, keyboards, brass in the back trax will let the vx shine through. It sounds like your on the right track though if its getting better. Keep practicing.

  • After Effects warning: An invalid track index

Hello, I am running CC 2014 on Windows 7.
I have a project with a significant amount of basic animation (just 2D scale and position keyframing), and while working on adding sound effects, I keep getting this error when I try to RAM preview: "After Effects: BE: An invalid track index has been added to the sequence."
If I hit ok, the preview plays, but with no audio.
Any ideas what to do? I've tried clicking tracks on and off, and it does help, but very inconsistantly to where I can't pin point the source of the problem. There's one track that when turned on, I do NOT get the error, and when turned off, or deleted, I DO get the error. This just baffles me.
Thanks for any help-- I'm on a tight deadline and really need to work through this ASAP.

You have two, and perhaps three, problems going on:
    1) Don't use mp3 audio in AE.  Just don't.  It has NEVER worked properly, and problems rear their ugly heads only intermittently... like when you time-remap it.  Convert mp3's to lossless audio files like wav or aiff.
    2) Don't Time Remap audio and expect it to work properly when you render.  It's better to export out the time-remapped audio as a wav or aiff, reimport and use the new audio clip when rendering.  Or just export it and use it in a video editing application along with your animations from AE.
    3) FORTY-NINE layers of audio?  That's crazy in AE!  AE stinks at audio!  It's Hell On Earth to mix all those tracks in AE!
I bet you can find a different application to put all those tracks together with the video.  I bet you can figure out an alternate workflow.  And you should.  The best way to use audio in AE is as a reference for timing your animations.  I use that strategy when I'm working on my stuff, and when I render, I don't render an audio track... not even when it's lip-sync audio!  I match up everything in a video editing application, and I have never, EVER had a problem.  Not once.  You can find a different application for that audio work -- now go find it.

We have been seeing the following 'warnings' in the event log of our BizTalk machine since upgrading to BTS 2006. They seem to occur randomly 6 or 8 times per day.
Does anyone know what this means and what needs to be done to clear it up? we have only one BizTalk server which is running on only one machine.
I am new to BizTalk, so I am unable to find how many tracking host instances running for BizTalk server. Also, can you please let me know that we can configure only one instance for one server/machine?

Other than ensuring that there exists a separate and single tracking host instance, you're getting an error about duplicate keys.. which implies that you're trying to Create a BAM Activity twice with the same data.
I suggest you have a in-depth examination of the BAM (TPE or API) associated with the orchestration. In TPE ensure that the first binding you select is the "Instance Id" or "Message Id" before going ahead to map the ports or others.

  • Create a Playlist from external folder with tracks already existing in iTunes

I was just wondering if its possible to create a playlist from an external folder (on my desktop) with tracks that already exist in iTunes.
I basically have a folder on my desktop that i use with Serato, i was wondering if it'd be possible to sort a playlist in iTunes with the tracklist from the folder? I already have all the tracks on iTunes so i don't want to add them onto iTunes again just to put them into a playlist as i'd have to sort through all the duplicates to delete the non playlisted tracks (theres around 1500 so it wouldn't be a quick task).
Would be much appreciated if anybody can help!

    Hi,
I have an AppleScript that does this.
This script need Spotlight metadata, all files in the folder that you use with Serato should be indexed.
Works well if the tags (name and artist) are defined
    In this script :
it will display a dialog to select your folder
iTunes search track from the library playlist according to (artist, album and title in the Spotlight metadata of each file).
If iTunes found a track, iTunes will add this track to the new playlist.
The script takes 35 seconds for 1000 files on an old machine (PowerMac G5 2 X 1.8 GHz) .
This should take less than 100 seconds for 3500 files on the new machine
    Here is the script :
-- this script need Spotlight metadata, files in the folder should be indexed
set folderPath to (choose folder with prompt "Select the  folder that you use with Serato")
set f to quoted form of POSIX path of folderPath

  • Tracker Indexing: Database Keeps Corrupting!?

    Hi,
I am trying to use the tracker indexing, but after running for a while (with or without reboots in between) the miner- and storage-processes still operate, but tracker-search will yield no more results. This is independent of the search term, i have some filenames i check just to know whether it still works or not. Usually it stops after a few days (or about 12h of uptime.....which unfortunately not always translates to several days....). Till this happenes, searching works perfectly.
We are talking about a new Arch 64bit installation, just the mounted drives contain "old" documents. All drives are ext4 formatted, the drive with the index is an SSD with ext4 and noatime, discard as additional mount params. I use e17 as window manager; it has a "start gnome services at startup" option which allows to include tracker. But also when launching tracker-control -s manually i eventually end up with this corruption (if this is the correct term - i call it that because once the search failed i never managed to get it back to work).
All the folders chosen for indexing are subfolders of my home and owned by my user - though there are mutiple drives mounted here. But again: The searches work perfectly for a while.
There is plenty of space left on the drive to allow for further growth of the database. I have no clue how large the database file in ~/.cache/tracker is allowed to become (or what is reasonable). Last time i checked it was 2.2 Gb large, then search stopped working. I have not checked yet if it always dies at this db size.
I checked /var/log and /tmp/tracker-USERNAME for logs or error messages, but theres nothing related. I have no clue where else to look or what might be the cause for this problem. Unfortunately naming the program "tracker" doesnt really help me trying to google for answers (the irony of the tracker bug bugtracker...). Maybe someone has a hint on what I am doing wrong?
    Sorry for the textflood,
    MC.

I had to create a new Access database and move data from the old database into the new one to resolve this issue. Apparently something in the original Access Database file was corrupt.

    Hello,
Did you enable change tracking on the database? If so, please try to disable and re-enable the change tracking.

  • Mixing down - lost MIDI tracks

    Hi
I have just started using GarageBand over the past couple of months. I have figured out all about locking tracks etc - or so I thought. I can get all the tracks to run fine (real audio and MIDI). The only thing is that when I export to iTunes, a couple of the MIDI tracks can be lost. Why???
It all seems quite random. My MIDI keyboard is connected. And all the tracks are locked for mixing down. (Did I need to have the keyboard connected at the moment when I locked the tracks, maybe?) The funny thing is, on some songs I am hearing all the tracks, MIDI included.
    So, baffled...

You don't need to have the keyboard connected for exporting the mix: and you don't need the tracks to be locked - that is to make it easier for the CPU to handle the load with a lot of tracks.
As to the missing tracks, forgive me for asking, but are you sure you didn't click the mute button instead of the lock button? (We've all done things like that! - and it's worth starting with the basics). Anyway, try a mix without locking the tracks - perhaps that's the problem, and, as I say, there's no need.

  • Do you mix down to two tracks to master song?

When I would master a song using Sonar I would mix down the song to two tracks and master on the two tracks. Now that I am using Logic Pro x I am not seeing anyone talk about mixing down to two tracks.  So I am wondering if everyone is doing their mastering on the full song or if they are actually doing on two tracks. I am using Ozone 5 and wanted to know what everyone was doing before I started.
    Thanks

I'm old school, I never master in the DAW, always mix down to a stereo mix and then master that. I find it far easier to get a good mix, when not worrying about mastering, it's also what I'm comfortable with.  I master using a PC with Soundforge, again, that's what I'm used to, my Mac Pro and PC are linked (networked) via a high speed cable modem so it's easy to transfer files back and forth.

  • Problem with tracks being omit

i just started transferring files to my zen xtra 60gb using notmad, when i noticed a major glitche. some of my albums have songs missing because the titles are the same. or close to it. for example, on pink floyd's wish you were here, track 5 gets ommitted because it shares the same title with track "shine on you crazy diamond". does anyone know a way around this, i would think there would have to be some way to transfer an album as it without having tracks deleted.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

The tracks are uniquely indexed based on a combination of the track title, artist and album. Creative should have really added the track number to this as well, and it's on my wishlist.
All you can do is modify the track title with a or 2, or a space perha

  • Track index points

I have a long track that I want to split up into many tacks on a CD. Can I set track index points in GarageBand? I'd like it to play through with no split between tracks when playing the CD, but I'd like to be able to navigate between sections using the forward and back buttons on a CD player. Is this possible in GarageBand? I'm thinking maybe using the Split into Regions?
    Thnx!

The momentary "blip" as you call it is probably caused by a track split at some point other than a zero-crossing point.
You can easily use Audition to burn a CD using your split track.  In Edit View, simply find a point in your waveform where you want to make a track split, Right Click the yellow cursor, choose "Next Zero Crossing" - the yellow cursor will jump to the next zero crossing point and should prevent that point from being a "blip".  After the yellow cursor has moved to the zero crossing point, Right Click on the cursor and choose "Insert CD Track Marker".  You can do this for the entire waveform.  Save the waveform with all the track markers, then put it in the CD view.  The CD view should read the markers and put the tracks in order for burning.
NOTE - When using this method be sure to put a CD track marker at the very beginning of the waveform so the CD View will recognize it as a track.  You can edit the names and order of the markers in the Marker List.
This method isn't fullproof.  In both 2.0 and 3.0 I've experienced some bad burns where the last few tracks in the list aren't actually burned, but for some reason the program takes sections of earlier tracks and burns those again in place of the missing tracks.  I recommend listening to your burned CD, checking the beginning of each track to make sure it's what it should be.  I don't have any experience burning using this method in 1.5 so I can't say if this is true of 1.5.

  • How to configure one TREX host with multiple index servers ?

    Hi All,
Does anyone know how to configure TREX on the one host,
    with multiple index servers ?
Reason for this is to make better use of resources available on the host server(4 Gig, 4 Processor, Windows2003), to improve the search performance of
our KM content for portal users.
I am using TREX 7 and have not been able to do this,
despite reading the Single and Distributed install
    documentation.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Andres

    Hi Andres,
    To make use of the RAM a Server provides you have to run two indexserver processes (each can then consume 2 GB);
    Proceed like this:
    1. Go to TREXdeamon.ini; check if section [indexserver2] is there (it is already provided, but not active in standard installation)
    2. In TREXdeamon.ini go to
    [daemon]
    references sections below
    programs=nameserver,preprocessor1,indexserver1,queueserver,alertserver
and add indexserver2 here. Restart TREX; second porcess is then started; can be checked in TREX monitor in Portal as well
    3. To distribute existing indexes to the new process, start TREXadmintool and go to Index: Landscape
Go to the last two columns and move the indexes (move master here/secondary mouse click)
If you don't distribute the indexes the new index server process will be regarded when an new index is created.
    Hope this helps!
    cheers

  • Importing CD to Artist folder\Album folder\file with track number and name:

I have a problem then importing my cd’s to my harddisk using iTunes.
On my previous pc I got what I want, Artist folder, Album folder and file with track number and name:
    e.g.
    D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
    D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
    D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\03 I'll Survive.mp3
    But now I get:
    D:\My Music\Compilations\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
    D:\My Music\ Compilations \02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
    D:\My Music\ Compilations \03 I'll Survive.mp3
In iTunes my settings are Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced: iTunes Music folder: D:\My Music and checkmark in both: “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library”.
My version of iTunes is 8.0.1.11
    Thanks in advance
    Peter

It will depend on the album. Gracenote considers anthologies, a collection of tracks by the same artist taken from different albums, as a compilation. In iTunes the compliation setting should really only be applied to a collection of tracks by different artists.

I'd like to use C++ since it's fast and more dynamically in memory reference.
Is there any downside mixing Objective-C with C++ for iOS apps?
When googled for info, I only found tutorials about how to let xcode compile Objective-C with C++.
    Thanks for help.

Both Objective-C and C++ are (more or less) extensions of C.
C supports manipulation of pointers and casting of pointers, this implies that both Objective-C and C++ will be able to manipulate C data like arrays, structs ...
Objective-C has classes like NSData to read/write blocks of bytes from/to file and to access ranges of bytes when the data is loaded into memory.
C++ probably has similar classes (I'm not well versed in C++ so I don't know).
If you want to look into using C++ you will probably want to look at Objective-C++, the link below has links to docs on how to use C++ with Objective-C:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3684112/what-is-objective-c
Thanks for the info, NSData does what I need.
A replied in the link also mentioned that he's using C++ in his application too. As long as I'm aware of memory management (prevent memory leaks, etc) as @disguise said, it should be fine.
@etresoft indeed, but C is the base language of ObjC, there are ways to deal with.
