Mixed Cisco/Colubris (HP) Environment

I recently added two 1260 APs to an already existing wireless environment running 128-bit WEP that has Colubris APs from before they merged with HP. I set them up and got them onto the existing backbone. They are set to run in autonomous mode as there is no WLC on the subnet. I can ping the new APs from the wireless network, but if I connect onto the 1260s, I lose all connectivity.
I do believe that I inadvertently left Aironet Extensions enabled on the two new APs, could that be what is causing them to not function properly? Presently, I disabled the communication to the 1260s. I would like to go back out to the client's site and get them working, but want to make sure I have the right setup going on before I head back over there.

There are no VLANs. They have everything on a single 255.255.255.0 subnet, to include all other aspects of their network, which is all desktops, printers, and two other WAPs. This particular WAP had eight existing APs on it. I added these two with the settings already in place for the network.
Here's the log. I've double and triple checked the key, but it appears that there is something wrong with that. I've copied and pasted it directly from my setup instructions into the web interface to no avail.

  • DNS in a mixed OES and AD environment

I have a mixed environment where most of my DNS is handled by OES servers with our main domain and a subdomain that is handled by Active Directory. For the AD domain, my OES servers are secondaries. I think I may not have something setup quite right because I'm getting the following error in /var/log/messages on my OES (secondary) servers except for the designated secondary:
[NCPL]: Error zone not loaded occurred while getting the db for zone adzone.xxx.xxx.xxx
[NCPL]: Error zone not loaded occurred while writing info for zone adzone_xxx_xxx_xxx.DNSDHCP.XXX to /var/opt/novell/log/named/named_zones.info
The AD zone and the reverse are both owned by the same AD server and the designated secondary is getting this message. Should I *not* have all my other OES secondaries in the "Authoritative DNS servers" list for that zone?
    Thanks,
    Toney.

You need to tell your AD DNS to allow zone transfers. Otherwise, the OES servers will never get the zone.

  • Introduction of Cisco ASA into Environment

    Hey,
I have just introduced a Cisco ASA into my environment but having major issues working out how to fit it in.  I have tried to configure it as per the proposed solution but not really working
    Currently
    2960 trunk port to >1921 (10.10.1-11.1) (for inter-vlan routing)
    2960 has an
    access port (vlan 101) to > 887va (10.10.1.2) > ISP
    Proposed
    2960 trunk port to >1921 (10.10.1-11.1) (for inter-vlan routing)
    2960 has an
access port (vlan 101) to > ASA 5505 (10.10.1.3 (vlan 101) outside/10.10.2.2 (vlan 102) inside) (for packet inspection)
    2960 has an
    access port 101 > 887va (10.10.1.2) > ISP
essentially, all 3 devices are connected independently to the switch
In an attempt to get this to work, I changed the default route on the 1921 to the ASA and the ASA's default route to the 887 but when trace routing, it seems to bypass the  ASA altogether...however, when doing this, it does appear that the ASA is doing something as the ip any any ACL on ASA received a number of hits
I have the following vlans -
    vlan 101 (10.10.1.0), 102 (10.10.2.0), 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111
i'm running OSPF on all devices - 1921 advertises all vlan interfaces, the 887 advertises 10.10.1.0 and the ASA also advertises 10.10.1.0
neighbours are forming and routes are exchanged ok.
    Natting on the 887
Your thoughts and ideas would be grateful; I'm obviously going wrong somewhere
    Many thanks
    Jay

    Hi Jon,
Thanks for your prompt response, it is very much appreciated
it's not a typo i'm afraid although i think i see your point.  My thinking here is/was that i wanted separation between the 'internal' and 'external' elements of my network and creating an inside and outside zone would do this. 10.10.1 would be the 'outside' and all other vlans would be the inside.  (I was halfway though zoning off my 887 before the introduction of the ASA and thought i could apply the same principles here.)
You are correct re "I am assuming you want traffic from the 1921 to go through the ASA to the 887 ?" and therefore, could you explain why to your comment - "if so you cannot have the outside interface in the same subnet as the 1921 WAN interface"  What is the outside interface on the ASA for then?
Also, could you confirm why to this one too please? -
"If you are running OSPF and the 887 is in the same subnet as the 1921 then it will simply bypass the ASA for return traffic." i'm assuming because the of the routing table pointing to the 1921 and not the ASA? (just clarifying)
Finally, i'm using a default route for internet access.  i used the default-info originate command on the 887 coinnected to my ISP previously to redistribute the default route to the 1921 but removed that when testing the ASA as i wanted to manually manipulate traffic flow
    Excuse the questions
    Many thanks again
    Jay

  • Network users in mixed desktop and portable environment: Best Practices

    Hello,
When using Server 4.0 in a network that includes both Mac desktops and Macbook devices, what is the recommended setup for network users and their Home directories?
The environment I'm building would best be suited for a "Local Only" Home folder setup due to the frequent use of large files, such as iPhoto stores, by many users. However, how does that function with the portables? When on the network, the user has all files accessible locally, but once off site, the user is not available. I know that a user may be converted into a Mobile Account so that it is available both on and off the network. However, my understanding is that this is more suited for syncing Home folder, i.e. when the Home folder is on a network share. Will a mobile account also function this a "Local Only" Home folder setup?
Essentially, I'm using the server to manage network users, not to serve files for the Home directories.
    Thank you.

  • Back-up suggestions in mixed Mac Prol / G5 environment

I've in the process of setting up a new Mac Pro to use along with a couple of G5s. I've been using SuperDuper to auto back up everything on a cloned 2nd drive in each tower. With the addition of the Mac Pro, I plan to update the G5s to Leopard and incorporate Time Machine into my back-up scheme, along with SuperDuper. I believe the bootable drive written by the Intel powered Mac Pro would not be usable by my G5s, which would limit its usefulness if that tower had a power supply or motherboard problem. I have yet study up on Time Machine back ups; would they be useable to restore a system across the mix of computers? Any suggestions or insights appreciated.

Leopard is a universal OS. So that makes life simpler.
Time Machine keeps each drive in its own sub-folders. I use more than one volume for TM in case one of them has a problem, so call them "daily" and one that I make sure to update weekly. Some had to redo their TM drive after 10.5.2.
Bombich has a page (author of CCC) on using ARD.
If you have everyone on a common OS volume, and keep personal files on a data drive, even easier. Rather than use one drive for OS/apps and data, use 2nd drive for data improves performance, and eSATA or FW for backups.
I always have external backups, and one is always off line in case there is a a problem I still have a good backup drive.

  • Mixed SCCP and SIP environment on UC560

    Hi,
Is it possible to have a mixed SCCP and SIP enviroment on a UC560?
We would like to keep the current 7XXX series phones on SCCP and add a SIP conference station and door phone.
    Thanks,

    Hi Neil
Yes, this should work. As the UC560 runs CUCME, this should be fine.

  • Cisco ISE Distributed environment question

    Hi everyone,
We want to deploy the ISE's nodes in primary- secondary to high availability.
One Node is in Europe and the another node is in America.
Is there exist some restriction about the distance or times, to syncronize between each one?.
Of course, the timezone for each node will be different (GMT - 8 and GMT +1 for example).
I was reading the way for implement it, but it didn't show any information about this.
    Regards,

    Hi James,
Sorry for answer a little late. I  had not the information before by the client.
The connection between the two sites is a International MPLS (no internet from our perspective). This is the information:
    BW: 2 Mbps
    Delay: 200 ms
I put the 2 Nodes ISE in that way:
Node in Europe (We will call NodeA):
    - Administration (PAN) Primary
    - Monitoring (MNT)
    - Policy (PSN)
    - NTP Server: Public NTP Server. 130.206.3.166
    Timezone: UTC
    CA Certificate: Self-Certificate_from_ise_node_America
Node in America (We will call NodeB):
    - Administration (PAN) Secondary
NTP Server: Public NTP Server. 130.206.3.166 (the same NTP Server)
    Timezone: EST
The NodeB is registered from NodeA using its dns name, with no problem (so I assumed that the certificate, credential and DNS resolve correctly).
Waiting for a couple of hour, the NodeB viewed from the NodeA in the section Administration - System - Deployment state OUT OF SYNC.
When I tried to sync manually, the NodeA showed the following message:
Internal Error: Server returned HTTP Response Code: 500 for URL: https://NodeB/deployment-rpc/cert
    Expiry status
And happened everytime I tried to sync.
The NodeB is no possible to access through http server web page correctly after its register. It shows the portal page, but it doesn't matter if you use a correct user or bad user, after you click Logging, return a white page without information.
The solution to use the same timezone
I will put in practice, making the nodes using for both UTC.
If you guys have another ideas, it's appreciate it.
    Thanks,

  • ZBF in a mixed ipv4 and ipv6 environment, don't touch ipv4

I have a dual stacked router for both ipv4 and ipv6. Ipv4 traffic should pass the zbf untouched due to the fact that there is another rock solid ipv4 firewall egress of the inside Interface. Is there a way that a class map like this could function on ipv6 traffic only?:

I didn't test it, but what about the following:
Configure a new class-map where you match on an ipv6 access-list "any to any"
Configure a third class map of type ""match all" where you match on your "fullproto" class-map and also the above ipv6 class-map. For this class map you configure your inspections.
For ipv4-traffic you configure a class with a "pass" action in both directions.

  • Mixed application server environment with z/OS

    Hello,
I'm looking for more information from SAP when running a system in a mixed application server platform environment.   In other words, the system would look like the following:
    1.  Central instance (only MS and EN processes -  i.e. standalone enqueue) running on AIX
    2.  Dialog instance (disp+work processes - i.e. spool, batch, dialog, upd) running on Windows 2003 or Linux
    3.  Database running on z/OS
I see from the Product Available Matrix, that Windows and/or Linux are supported with z/OS, but there is no mention of running a mixed environment as described above.
    Any help/guidance would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    David

Yes, we have already been down the road of zLinux. Thanks to some pricing issues on the DB2 z/OS side, we had to give up our IFLs and thus zLinux. Our application servers are now on Windows 2003 x64. Even when we were on zLinux, we were forced to run some Windows application servers for Adobe Document Services as this is not supported on zLinux and SAP/Adobe have thus far refused to port it.
The inconsistency is that while SAP says it is "ok" to use something like SAMBA to share out SAPMNT and have it work under windows, it introduces unneeded complexity in many areas. SAP note 680617 describes this process. For us, it was a neverending headache with the unix vs windows text file format differences (supposedly handled by instance parameter abap/NTfmode=b) and there are complications for path names for batch jobs, etc.
I am sure all of those issues can be sorted out eventually, but it is just much easier to stick with one application server platform.
If you're considering zLinux, I would be extremely careful. There are only a handful of SAP customers in the world running it. Most likely you'll run into problems that no other customer has encountered yet and which will require a PTF or a new SAP kernel to fix (when you can finally get them). We ran into one such problem communicating to the ASCS/SCS in USS from zLinux over hipersockets. This really plagued our project team with hung locks (especially during LSMW imports of master data) until SAP released kernel 150 for zLinux which coded around the "unexpected" extreme low latency of hipersockets.
    Caveat emptor.

  • .exe files appearing on MAC in mixed network environment

I am working in a mixed PC/Mac network environment. Soon after plugging the MAC into the network, I started noticing '.exe' file appearing on my MAC.
Almost every folder on the HD now has a .exe file with the same name inside it. For example the Libray folder has a file called "Library.exe" in it now.
I have one folder on the MAC shared, and mapped as a network drive on a PC. The PC's anti-virus software keeps flagging a virus on the folder. However, I am running Intego's anti-virus on the MAC and it does not find anything.
    Anyone have any ideas here?

Finally figured it out... PC Network volume (shared folder) had the W32.rontokbro@mm virus. EXE file appeared anytime the PC connected to the MAC. Reformatted the PC and deleted all of the EXE files from the MAC and now I have no troubles.

  • Windows - Mac mixed environment: Excel file references, Windows Drive Letters

I was suggested to ask my question on this forum.
Our company has used Windows PCs only. For various reasons, we are now switching to a Mixed (Mac and PC) environment.
All of our work files are stored and server from a central Windows Server.
The shared folders are mounted on each Windows computer as Drive Letters (K:, L:, M:, N:, etc.).
In our Excel files, we use references to other Excel files that are stored on the server.
The reference paths include the drive letters. We've been doing this for many years, and have many files like this.
As far as I know, shared network folders cannot be mounted the same way under OS X.
Folders that under Windows show up as drive K, L, M, N, under OS X are mounted as "Common", "Templates", "Projects", etc.
So references that we've been using for years don't work anymore.
How could this be solved in Excel, under OS X?

  • Problem: Mixed Exchange 2007 / 2013 CAS Servers with wildcard certificates in Europe and non-wildcard Certficate in China

    Hi,
we have following problem. We have a mixed multi-domain one-forest AD environment. We also have still a mixed exchange 2007 / 2013 environment. We also have different CAS Servers for 2007 SP3 (RU15) and 2013 (CU8) in europe and one 2007 SP3 (RU15) CAS Server
in China, because of bad connection to Europe. For the Migration to 2013 in Europe we installed a wildcard-certificate *.xyz.com and used the Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:*.xyz.com, so the wildcard certificate is accepted. Everything in
Europe works fine, inside and outside also between exchange 2007 and 2013 (both CAS Server 2013 and 2007 use the same wildcard certificate). But since the change of the Set-OutlookProvider EXPR we are facing problems with our CAS Server in China, because this
server has a different non-wildcard certificate and a different domain name (cas-server.xyz-china.com instead xyz.com). Now we have the problem that this Chinese CAS server the Outlook Anywhere does not work anymore and prompts always for the username. As
I see it is because of the EXPR change. Is it possible to set the the Outlook-Provider EXPR per Cas-Server ? (They also have their own Autodiscover on this front-end server). Because I see that the Outlook-Provider can only be stored forest-wide.
If not the other solution would be to register the chinese cas server in our xyz.com domain and use the same wildcard certificate on this system right ?
    Any help would be appreciate….

Yes setting the EXPR value is most likely the cause of your issue.  When you set this value you are telling Outlook to only accept connections from connections that have the cert with the subject name you specify here.
Unfortunately, based on my experience I believe this is an organization wide setting and cannot be configured on a CAS by CAS basis (If I'm wrong someone please keep me honest :)).
So the only option would you have is to change all the URLs to be on *.xyz.com domain.  There's no need to change the domain the server actually resides on.  The other option would be to purchase a UCC Cert with all the names you need and apply
to all your CAS servers and reset the EXPR value.

  • CISCO IPCC EXPRESS - E-MAIL SUBSYSTEM PROVISION

We have read that, to provision the e-mail subsystem in a Cisco IPCC Express environment, we have to complete the following steps.
    1. From the Cisco Unified CCX Administration menu bar, choose Subsystems > eMail. The eMail Configuration web page opens.
    2. Use this web page to specify the following fields:
    - Mail Server: A fully-qualified e-mail server name.
    - eMail Address: An existing fully qualified e-mail address for the administrative account.
What kind of permissions need the administrative account? Exhange Administratior permissions? Because the customer don't like the idea of giving us a user with the possibility of controlling all the e-mail of his firm.
Do we really need it???? Thank you very much.

I typically tell the customer's Exchange team that I need them to accept unauthenticated SMTP transport from the CCX server IP address(es). I believe [read: haven't had to do it myself in a while] there are settings in Exchange 2003 on the virtual SMTP server where it will accept unathenticated mail for it's own domain from. Exchange 2007/2010 is a different animal that I haven't had to do first-hand yet. I have been lazy and just have an Exchange resource call the customer and talk them through it.

  • Mixing and exporting for more than 8 channels and non-standard multichannel setups

I am trying to do something kind of unconventional, although I have seen people on the forums trying to do similar things. Unfortunately, it's unclear if they succeeded or not, and if they did, how.
I'm trying to figure out how to mix sound for an environment that has many (somewhere between 8 and 16) independent speakers, all connected to an audio interface. I know that WAV, AAC, and other audio file formats can carry that many channels and I can map them to the individual speakers. My question is how to edit/mix. Specifically,
Is this possible in Audition? It seems like it might be in CC, but not previous? (I have CS6.)
How do you set up the project file. When I create a new multitrack project, I can choose mono, stereo, or 5.1. The 5.1 option allows me to assign sounds to the five speakers in a standard 5.1 setup and the LFE. Is it possible mix for an environment with more than that? Or with a different configuration of speakers? In Audio MIDI Setup (for Windows people, that's where in OSX you set the more advanced audio preferences) I can configure up to 7.1 as well as geometric arrangements like quadrophonic, hexagonal, and octagonal. Is it possible in Audition to mix for anything like these?
There have been some threads where people talk about using 16 discrete outputs in Audition. How is this possible? Is each track able to be routed to a different output? If so, is it possible to write a file that has all of these tracks assigned to their discrete output channels?
Is it possible to nest audio sessions like you can nest Premiere sequences? For example, can I create a multitrack project with mono output and have that session be embedded into another multitrack session or do I have to finish editing the first one and write a file from it to use it in another project? Can buses be used to do this? What I'm wondering is if what I describe in #3 above IS possible, then how to have more than just a single pre-made audio file going to each of the outputs, to allow me to mix each channel with various sounds.
Sorry that's a few questions, but they all revolve around how to work with multi-channel sound that isn't stereo or 5.1.
    Thanks!

As you have probably gathered, this is effectively a work in progress...
How do you set up the project file. When I create a new multitrack project, I can choose mono, stereo, or 5.1. At present, this is restricted to what you can see, but there's sort-of a workaround - albeit not an ideal one...
There have been some threads where people talk about using 16 discrete outputs in Audition. How is this possible? Is each track able to be routed to a different output? If so, is it possible to write a file that has all of these tracks assigned to their discrete output channels?
If you have a multichannel sound device, and all the outputs are visible to Audition, then yes, each track can be assigned directly to a different output. And if you set one up, you can do this with buses as well...
Is it possible to nest audio sessions like you can nest Premiere sequences? For example, can I create a multitrack project with mono output and have that session be embedded into another multitrack session or do I have to finish editing the first one and write a file from it to use it in another project? It's not possible to nest sessions at present in any version, and this has been asked about before. There are some significant issues with this, mainly to do with things like sample rates, output formats, etc. Doesn't mean that it won't happen, but don't hold your breath... As I said, there's a workaround, and yes, it's buses. Since you can effectively submix to a bus, and the bus output can go directly to hardware, then you can do what you want. The compromise is that in order to save the overall result, you'll end up with all of your source files, and a session file. And you'll have to play the whole thing back in Audition, rather than export it to a single file and be able to play it on a multichannel player. But yes, it should work.

  • Cisco CSS 11501 - High-Availabilty

We have a single CSS 11501 and were thinking about just buying a new one and putting it online as the standby with statefull (hopefully) failover, but weren't sure that this would work.
Does anyone know what is needed to create a high-availability Cisco CSS 11501 environment?
Do you only need 2 CSS 11501 and then configure them with one being active and the other being in a standby mode, like a PIX?
Is there a HA Cable that would need to be connected between the 2 CSS's?
    Thanks in Advanced.

    Daniel,
There is a new stateful failover mechanism for the Cisco CSS 11500.
This description is a bit "salesy" I know, but it covers the question asked :-)
The Cisco CSS 11500 delivers ASR—the industry's first stateful Layer 5 session redundancy feature that enables failover of important flows while maximizing performance. Some flows—such as a long-lived File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or a database session — may be mission critical, but many are not. Most solutions on the market today require all traffic—important or not—to be backed up from one box to another. If the majority of flows are not critical, then most of system performance is wasted on unnecessary back
ups. With ASR, the Cisco CSS 11500 may be configured so critical flows are marked as replication worthy, whereas others do not need to be so marked. ASR focuses traffic management resources precisely where needed.
Better yet, have a look at the following link focusing on the section on Stateless Redundancy.
