Mixed Content Blocking preferences not remembered

I want to permanently disable Mixed content Blocking on certain websites. When I click "Disable protection on this page", Firefox seems to remember the choice till the end of the session. After restart I have to disable it again. Is there a way to remember these settings permanently, without turning the entire feature off?

In most cases that is not what the user needs. He/she should be able to disable this feature only on the selected websites. In my case, my intranet uses the filedepot plugin for the Drupal which was being blocked by the Firefox. It is annoying as we need to use it very often and to get it work, every time we need to click on the "Disable Protection on this page". However I'd need Firefox to block it on any other (especially 3rd party) websites.
So as @maaxxify requests, a feature to disable this on certain website is more desirable.

  • How can I turn off Mixed Content Blocking via script for an enterprise?

Users in our enterprise (2,000+ clients) have to manually allow an MCB exception when using an in-house application every time we use it. I have exported the registry, made the change to mixed content blocking active content in about:config, and then re-exported the registry and have been unable to find any changes in the registry. Therefore, I am out of ideas as to how to deploy a package from Configuration Manager (Microsoft's enterprise client management) to disable this feature so people can work unhindered by Firefox.
Currently we are getting around this by telling our users to NOT use Firefox. This will be a make or break for this browser in our environment.

Preferences are stored in the ''prefs.js'' file under the user's profile folder. Barring any third-party tools, the registry doesn't have anything to do with it.

You can modify preferences for a Firefox installation, which would affect all users running that copy. The preference you'll want to modify is ''security.mixed_content.block_active_content'' (set to '''true''' by default).

  • How can I whitelist specific URLs to disable mixed content blocking? (New Feature in FF23)

For a few of the enterprise products I use, the mixed content blocker disables my ability to use these tools. While I understand I can toggle to allow mixed-content -- I would like to be able to whitelist the URLs that I use regularly that I don't want content blocking enabled. Is this possible?

the content toggle button works but is not really the solution for enterprise products. A white-list would be a real good solution...
So I add a my white-list request here too

  • Can't view a website, issue related to mixed content blocking

    Hello,
I am having trouble viewing the website below in Firefox. This is Basic Talk, which is basically internet phone service, similar to Vonage. But it's cheaper and sold at Walmart. Was wondering why I could pull up their website just fine on my cell phone, but couldn't get it up on Firefox (or IE for that manner). In order to set up my account with them, I had to do it completely online via my cell phone. But after doing some research I came across some info in the Firefox Bugzilla support forums. And it appears this issue is related to the "Mixed Content Blocking" issues. I've tried viewing the site via "http" and "https" and neither way works in Firefox. But again, via my cellphone, just fine. If you all could please look into this and provide me further details with how I can view and access this site. I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks
    Shirley

Firefox 3 versions do not have mixed content blocking features, so if this happens with the 3.6.27 version that shows in the System Details List and also in other browsers like IE then something else is wrong.

  • Mail Preferences not remembered...

My mail preferences are not being remembered when mail is reopened, even the email default to send from is not remembered, all folders with in Mail when opened are collapsed & no signatures are in place.
Brand new iMac, mail was imported from Macbook Pro with no issues 2 weeks ago. Mail was freezing on start up so I followed a thread on here:
Library/containers/com.apple.mail & delete the named folder, which did resolve the freezing on start up, now no preferences are remembered by mail.
    Any help would be fantastic...
    Thanks in advance
    Toby

Is there any chance anyone can help, this issue is becoming rather annoying especially as this iMac is less than a month old!
    Thanks in advance!

  • Bridge Preferences not remembered

I am running CS3 with 64 bit Vista. I have had all kinds of problems. the one that I have not been able to find a solution for is that, when I change preferences in bridge to what I want it is not remember. The next time I launch bridge the preferences are in the default mode. Where are the preferences for bridge stored? Has anyone else had this problem?
I have tried the cache delete it make no difference

There have been quite a few posts on this subject, not sure if any answers were posted. Scan down the posts and check them out.
There was one that did state that if you use the default color rating system it works, for some systems changing it will not stay.

  • Cookie preference not remembered for local html files

I use Firefox's very useful "ask every time" cookie screening facility and have selected "Use my choice for all cookies from this site". However, it will not remeber my preference for local files.
The Adobe Acrobat Editor's help uses html files on my PC's local C: drive. Whenever this is launched Firefox always displays a "Confirm setting cookie" message "The site file:// wants to modify an existing cookie." 16 times before the html is fully displayed and at least once every time I select a link within the html.
    Firefox's address bar displays:
    "file:///C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Help/en_US/Acrobat Pro/9.0/help.html"
How can I avoid this annoying, time-consuming behaviour with local files whilst still screening cookies for internet sites?

I've tried variations of the theme of "http://localhost/" like:
"http://localhost/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Help/en_US/Acrobat Pro/9.0/help.html" in the Firefox address, desktop shortcuts and cookies exceptions. These all result in errors.
What browser address should I use instead of:
    "file:///C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Help/en_US/Acrobat Pro/9.0/help.html"?

  • Preferred Program preferences not remembered after reboot

I have tried to set some file types to be opened by particular programs, and it only works until I turn off the Macbook Pro. For example, I set .pdf files to open with acrobat and it works fine until after I reboot. Then .pdf files open with preview. Also, I set Firefox to be the default web browser, but after rebbot it is again Safari. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks much!

  • Looking for a HTTPS/HTTP mixed content "sniffer" tool

I am hoping someone here can help me out. I am looking for a tool/addon that can point out exact what on the page is triggering a mixed content error. The browser will tell me that something on the page is not secure, but it won't tell me where or what the non secure item is so I can fix it.
Here is my recent example of this problem.
I had a issue with a HTTPS page with a doubleclick tracking pixel on it. It was a standard tracking pixel iframed on to the page and the page iframed was HTTPS with no cert problems. It turned out that the page being iframed has a javascript call that was HTTP and this was triggering the mixed content error.
Unfortunately it took me almost two days to figure out the page being iframed was making the non-ssl call, not anything on the site.
If anyone here could help me find a tool or point to a browser feature that I don't know about that could help me sniff out these mixed content error faster you would make my life so much easier.

You can glean a little more information from Firefox's Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+j). Mixed content blocks generate a log entry in the security category. If you enter mix in the filter box in the upper right of the console, that should help drill down on the message. (Screen shot example attached.)
Now... you still need to figure out what is generating the request, but hopefully this will help.

  • When webpages contain mixed content, does (or can) Firefox block content from unsecure sources?

When secure webpages (those using SSL) contain content from non-SSL sources, Internet Explorer 8 and 9 ask if you want to view only the content that was delivered securely. I haven't been able to find a similar prompt in Firefox. I know of three possible explanations:
    1. Firefox does not offer protection against mixed content. I hope this isn't the case!
    2. Firefox has a setting I haven't found.
    3. Firefox may offer the protection but in a different manner than Internet Explorer.

Firefox doesn't and can't block content coming via an insecure connection in that case, but you can get a warning.
The settings for the warning messages have been removed from the user interface (Bug 513166).<br />
You need to change the related security.warn_* prefs directly on the <b>about:config</b> page.<br />

  • Firefox 3.6.9 is not remembering my history as set in preferences.

Preferences are set correctly to remember my history for 30 days. All boxes are checked, except I have deselected the Clear History when FF closes option. Ever since I updated to this from 3.5, my History will not remember itself as anticipated. I have had to type in full web addresses from one day to the next, which of course is not how this preference is intended to work. Help!

    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the Browsing History.
    * Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"
    * Make sure that you do not start Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see [[Private Browsing]])
    * To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"
You can look at these prefs on the about:config page.

my apple id have been blocked an i do not remember the identity or security question please help what can i do?

If your account is disabled you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your iPhone and iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Storeand then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it.
For your security questions, if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on your account then the steps half-way down this page will give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 (you can also try this link if you can't get your account enabled via the above)
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • Https site with no mixed content and EV cert is shown as mixed and not identifiying itself

My site https:orderform page contains only https images and website has an EV cert that is valid and current. With history cleared and visiting page for first time Firefox reports that page contains mixed content and that site does not identify iteself.
Hitting F5 to refresh the page address bar correctly shows green with no mixed content popup and that side idenfies itself.
SSLCertificateChainFile has been added and this makes no difference.
Problem does not occur in other browsers (IE, Safari, Chrome).
A new FF profile has been tried but same problem occurs.
Why would refeshing the page work?
Problem affects all firefox browsers 3.5 to 14.01. I dont know about those <3.5.
I have read and tried most suggestions in forum and elsewhere but cant find a solution.
I have not provided the url as this is my order page and its important for me to see genuine visitors.

    First a reply to Jsher2000
Thank you for your suggestions. Yes and Yes did this ages ago but no non-https content.
I have found a workaround for what appears to be a bug in Firefox:-(
Here is the non-perfect workaround. First Detect firefox
    xUA=navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase()
    xFf=xUA.indexOf('firefox')!=-1
    if(xFf) top.location.href='https://ord.html'
    else top.location.replace( 'https://ord.html' )
The current non-secure page is being replaced with a secure one.
    Internet Quote:
"The difference between location.href and location.replace is that the former creates a new history entry on the visitor's browser meaning that if they hit the back button, they can get in a 'redirection loop' which is usually undesirable and may have unwanted side effects."
It appears that FF is using some content (cached) from the previous non-secure page when replacing - leading to the mixed content and non-identified site. An F5 refresh or reload of current page will show that site identifies iteself and there is no mixed content.
In summary its a Firefox Bug.
