Mixed file types in iCloud Drive

Does iCloud Drive support folders containing a mixture of file types ? for example  .pdf,.pages,.jpg,.numbers

Yes, they are, in apps that have been updated to use the new document picker. The apps will specifically need to be iOS 8 versions. I've managed to get this working in the updated iWork apps that came out last Thursday. It's a bit tricky to navigate though.

  • Files uploaded to iCloud Drive also taking up space on local hard drive

    Hello all!
    Quick question:
Why are files uploaded to iCloud Drive also taking up space on my hard drive?  I want to use my iCloud Drive for cloud based back up of certain files.  I do not want these files to sync automatically, but to live in the cloud unless I need them.
When I upload something to iCloud Drive it also appears to be stored locally on my hard drive, as my available disk space is reduced by the size of the file I have uploaded to iCloud Drive.
    Thoughts?

In other words, there is no way to have a file live only in the cloud?
    No.
Just a short note in addition to Kappy's answer:  iCloud is not an additional external storage, it is a common storage for keeping the contents synced across all devices.
What you are moving to iCoud will be copied to all devices that are syncing with iCloud.
See this link:   iCloud Drive FAQ
With iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images, and any other kind of document in iCloud. Documents you store in iCloud Drive will be kept up to date across all of your devices, and you can access them from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.
Here's what you can do with iCloud Drive:
Store and access all of your documents in one place from any of your devices
Keep files and folders up to date across all your devices
Create new files and folders from iCloud-enabled apps
Work on the same file across multiple apps

  • Read pdf files stored in icloud drive from ios8

Ok. So how do I Access and read my PDF files stored in icloud drive from my ipad?
I´ve read that there´s no icloud drive App like dropbox and that it has to be done from a third party App. (strange enough), but I can´t seem to find a third party App that connects to icloud drive yet.
    Thanks.

The Apple website specifically states "Because with iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images and any other kind of document in iCloud and access them from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC.".
Now, howe do I "store my PDF" and "access them from my iPhone"?

  • Why doesn't apple offer a viewer/file browser for iCloud Drive?

Why doesn't apple offer a viewer/file browser for iCloud Drive?
Dropbox, Microsoft’s OneDrive, and Google Drive all have viewer apps that let you see and manage what’s in the drive.  The only way you can do that with iCloud Drive is through a web browser.  Very frustrating and backward.

I found a possible band-aid for our problem:
    1) On iOS 8 Device, go to Safari / iCloud.com
    2) Once you get to iCloud.com, you'll notice it won't give you the option to log in.
    3) Tap on the URL bar (this should bring up your bookmarks bar and Frequently Visited Sites)
    4) Tap, Hold, and Slide your finger down on that section (this will reveal two options: (1) Add to Favorites, and (2) Request Desktop Site
    5) Tap Request Desktop Site
Log in as usual, and you can now access iCloud Drive with your PDFs and other documents like any other computer.
I too am disappointed as I was looking forward to view PDF's shared between my Macbook and my iPad, but I think this should work until Apple comes out with a solution.

  • My files disappered from icloud drive. is there a way to get them back??

    Hi All,
I'm using icloud drive for my files and everything was fine untill this morning. when I looked the drive I saw that most of my files was gone. I did not erase or move anything. is there a way to get them back???
    thanks...

Export all your existing projects just in case and copy them onto your computer (might not be necessary but I don't have time to test it just now) then head into Settings > GarageBand > Reset GarageBand Settings which restores sound samples and the demo song.

  • Deleted files reappear on iCloud Drive

moved Pages files in newly created folders on iCloud Drive and everything looked fine. But after re-entering to iCloud Drive all files reappeared with attached "2" ??? I deleted all of them and they disappeared from the screen of the iPad (but same on iPhone 5S) just to reappear next time I come back...
How can they be deleted permanently?

Thanks, I did that and do that basically every time before I log off. I read through all the other similar questions and tried them out. I downloaded cocktail and it gave me back about 3 gig (I have a 80 g hard drive and available space of 22 now). The one thing I am unable to do is reloading system files because I do not have the disk. So I was hoping that there are some other work arounds available. Any ideas???

  • File App for iCloud driv on iOS

ssuggest me an app to view files and folders like Dropbox app on iOS

There isn't one.  On an iOS device, you access iCloud Drive files from within apps that support iCloud Drive.  See http://www.imore.com/icloud-drive-clearing-up-confusion.

    Hi,
Generally speaking, Event ID 102 is related with file read and write permission. You can check it and make sure it can be read correctly.

  • Uploading text files to my iCloud drive?

I have two Macs. Both running Yosemite (10.10).
One of my Macs is a MacBook Air – for when I am on the road – the other is a 27inch iMac, for when I am in the studio.
I have need to save Text documents direct to my iCloud drive.
I find that when I save from the MacBook Air the to the Cloud the files are transferred directly to the Cloud drive. No problem. So I can access my files from my other computer.
However with the iMac they are saving to the iCloud drive on my computer but they are not appearing on the Cloud drive remotely (i.e.: I cannot see the files from my Air) and the files need to be copied manually – which defeats some of the object.
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

I have resolved this issue. I would like to say it was some cunning preference that I hadn't noticed, but I am afraid not.
It was more a case of me being stupid.
    Thanks for your interest anyway.

  • Files disapeared in icloud drive.

When i yesterday uppgraded to ios 8, icloud drive and uppdated keynote and pages. My files dissapeared from keynote and pages, i went in to the icloud drive to see if files are there, but i cant find them there or when i logg in to icloud.com i cant see them. What can i do? Is it becouse of servers? Or did the icloud drive delete my files?

I have files that are visible on iCloud.com and on my MAC, but are not visible on the iOS device.  Not a great start.

  • Getting a cloud symbol with a ! in it for certain Pages files saved to icloud drive; unable to pull them up on other devices

In the last few days when I save a Pages document to the iCloud drive and list the contents of the drive it shows a cloud symbol with an ! in it and a bar in the size column.  The document shows up on another device with a line along the bottom, but it can't be opened in the new device.
