Mixed up CD tracks

I just bought an iPod and transferred all my hard drive music from Windows Media Player to iTunes. Any CD that had multiple artists has broken the CD up into separate albums based on artist. It doens't seem to be associating the album as a whole thing... if that makes sense. What's up here?

  • ITunes mixes up the track order of songs within an album??

My iTunes mixes up the track order, and there is no way to specifically order it by track.  i have even gone and individually marked each song as ie(2 of 12) but it still lists them in a random order.  How can I make the songs fit in their original order?  And none of that "click at the top to order it by artist, album, or time etc," because it doesn't click above track number.

If the songs are in a playlist open iTunes then click on the playlist. Click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. Right click on the playlist name and select "Copy to play order". Connect your iPod, if you are updating automatically it will pick up the change. If you are updating manually then you connect first and when the iPod appears in the source list carry out the process above directly in the playlist on your iPod. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.
If the tracks are out of order in the library try this, I found that it works for me. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album column. If you like you can then click on Artist, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Artist>Album>Track Number within Album (you can hide the track number column when you've done if you don't want it cluttering up the view)

  • Does Adobe Air support mixing 14 audio tracks with different timings with no latency?

We are looking to port our iPhone application to Adobe Air and wanted to see if this is even feasible
See an app demo here: http://vimeo.com/5737825

What platforms? On Android there is or was a bug with audio latency that would interfere with your goals. The bug is in the Android OS IIRC. If you want to contact me offlist I can put together an AIR project to test mixing as many tracks as you'd like and include buttons to trigger them (source included).

  • I'm trying to mix a guitar track so it is heard in the right and left ear and not in the center

I'm trying to mix a guitar track in GarageBand.  I'd like to have the same guitar track heard in the right and left ear.  When I mix it that way, the guitar comes from the center.  Is there a way to place this track so that it appears to come from both the left and right side?

TINY fractions of a second. this is how you get the "full sound"

  • Mixing Down Multiple Tracks - Question

    Hi.
Is it possible to mix down 2 or more tracks into 1 single track?
I'm doing some soundtrack work, working on the multi-track editor to a video I imported. I have a constant background ambiance that I made using the multi-track editor and the apple loops.
Is there a way I can mix the 3+ tracks that make up this ambiance down into 1 single track? Thus giving me less tracks to worry about (and less clutter) when editing additional foley sound effects etc.. over the ambiance?
    Any help would be appreciated

Export your mix. In the After Export drop-down you should find *Add to New Tracks in session* (or something like that)

  • Preferred methods of mixing exs 24 tracks???

what is actually the "right" way to mix an audioinstrument containing an EXS 24??
Let's say you have 3 or 4 instances of EXS 24 (bass, strings, guitar, rhodes)...do you just leave them as is, and bounce your tune?? or do most bounce each individual instrument to audio and then remix the audio file into the session?
is there a big difference between bouncing a stereo interleaved and a mono L+R and panning each left and right???
I've normally just left the EXS's as is and bounced the entire tune, but recently noticed that after bouncing, the instruments sometimes get lost in the mix and somewhat flatten out...
    any thoughts??

Ugh! it seems that you need some basic explanations:
"what is actually the "right" way to mix an audioinstrument containing an EXS 24??"
Just as mixing any other track in any other mixing studio
"Let's say you have 3 or 4 instances of EXS 24 (bass, strings, guitar, rhodes)...do you just leave them as is, and bounce your tune?? or do most bounce each individual instrument to audio and then remix the audio file into the session"
Do you come from Pro Tools eh? Sorry. But you have to ERASE all the crap Digi leaved in your brain, wipe it and be born again...
Why would you bounce the EXS24 to audio?? it's ALREADY audio.
Just put the plugins you need to mix directly on the EXS24's tracks and mix it!
"is there a big difference between bouncing a stereo interleaved and a mono L+R and panning each left and right???"
Yes, the first option lets you eat more pizzas and enjoy S*x, instead the second will just make you lose time. They are exactly the same.
"I've normally just left the EXS's as is and bounced the entire tune, but recently noticed that after bouncing, the instruments sometimes get lost in the mix and somewhat flatten out..."
ehm, i apologise for my question, but did you evr heard about the word "mix"?
It is obvious that the instruments may get lost in the mix, that's why you ... MIX!
The mixing process needs at least great ears, and a lot of experience. Applying EQ, compression, limiting, early reflections, reverb, panning, and other plugins on your tracks is the way to make a good sounding mix.
If you have the luck to know some good sound engineer, try to get from him some tricks and tips, or ask him to mix it for you, in front of you. That mixing session could have the same value as 10 years experience

  • Exporting Mix to separate tracks

    Hi,
Is there a way to export a mix to separate tracks in STP?
    Aim:
Have a mixtape that, if played through, has fades as mixed in STP.
But if listener wants to go to a particular track, they can still do so.
    Problem:
STP seems to only output a single file with no way of marking track ID's
    Thanks for any response.
    Khalid

Ideally, you'll need something like Roxio's Jam to do that. However, the workaround would be to bounce your mix, import the bounce in STP, cut the audio file where you want the IDs to be, export each audio file and burn a CD with Toast without any pause between each song. Note that you'll still need a 2 seconds pause before the first song and that if you want no glitches you should burn in DAO mode.

  • Copy and Paste audio track MIX from one track to another??

    Hi
What's the best way to handle this.
I have a video with one long music track, that I mixed using Adobe Premiere's Audio Mixer.
The musician made a new version of the track with some very slight modifications in the music.
Rather than having to remix the entire new track, I would prefer to either:
    1) Copy and paste the attributes of the orginal audio track onto the new music track -- retaining the Mix I did from the original mix.  Is this possible?  I tried it once and it did not seem to work.  (I used the Mixer, not keyframes, to do all of the mix.)
    or
    2)  Is there a setting in Premiere's Audio mixer to "gang" the new track to the old one -- with the new track cloning the old track's mix.
Or would it be better to bring the two audio tracks into Soundbooth and do it there?
    Thanks,
    ...Rowby

    Thanks Colin
I did a complicated mix on one long background music track and was not looking forward to doing that remix because of various minor music changes made by the musician scattered throughout that long track.
Your Alt (for replace solution) worked perfectly and saved me a ton of time.
The fact that Copy attributes for Audio doesn't work for copying audio keyframes is another reason do do audio mixes using the Mixer instead of using keyframes to adjust volume.

P.S.   And a big LIKE to Adobe's clever programmers for including features like these.

  • MIXING DOWN VIDEO TRACKS

I am ready to out put my project which has multiple video layers. I know I can nest my effect layers but is there a way to mix down all of my layers making one video layer with all of the effects rendered?

Then there's still no need to "mixdown" the video.
For DVD, the best method is to export a self-contained or reference movie (File->Export->QuickTime Movie). Note that if your Sequence isn't already fully rendered, it may take some time. Also make sure you include chapter markers if needed and that you do NOT recompress all frames.
Use the QuickTime Movie in Compressor and choose the appropriate DVD preset.
Once Compressor is done, import the resulting .m2v video file and the .ac3 audio file into DVD-SP for authoring and burning.
For going to tape, fully render the Timeline then then perform a 'Print-to-Video' or just hit record on your DV recorder and hit the space bar on your Mac keyboard (assuming you're working in DV).

  • Export to BluRay mixes up audio tracks

I've put together a video which is basically a bunch of still shots (imported as jpg's) with transitions, titles, and music) in 1080p 23.98 fps.  The music was imported from my iTunes library.  It plays fine in preview.  When I export to BluRay (I actually create an .img file then burn it to bluray on my PC) the resulting movie loads and plays fine, but the sound is coming out of the rear channels on my surround sound system and not the front speakers as it should.  The options for BluRay export are very limited.  I don't see any way to change what is being done with audio.  I would appreciate your suggestions on how to fix this.
    Thanks.

Highlight the audio track in your Timeline.  Open the Inspector, go to the Audio tab.  For "Pan Mode" in the Volume And Pan section, set it to Default.  You'll get a suround sound panner there.  Adjust as needed.

  • Volume loss with mixed and reimported tracks

To combine vocal tracks, I've exported them as an AIFF file, then dropped them back into GB as a single track. It works, but there's a serious drop in volume. Can anyone offer any suggestions for fixing this problem?

Just wondering why are you exporting vocal track and bringing them back in?
The track are probably not being exported a optimal level. And don't judge the level just by track meters.

  • Mixing SD sound track with DH

I'm soon to upgrade my FCP to edit in HD. No manuals to check yet so my question is: can Final Cut Suite set up to edit a 24p HD project capture and use audio from SD recorded tapes?
    Thanks.
    Canada John

    Thanks for the help.
Here are the details. I will soon upgrade to FC Suite and a new Apple system. Till now I've been quite happy with my old FCP2. I will be shooting HDV on a Canon XH A1 set at 24p. I have some sound I want to use that was recorded on my old Canon XL1 at 29...fps, so there will be a different frame rate between the original tapes and the tapes I'll be shooting. I was wondering if there was a way to import this old sound material into FCP set up for this 24p HDV project in the way that one can, for example, import music from DVDs. All that old sound was recorded at 48 Khz 16 bit.
    Thanks again.
