Mixed up messages in conversation view on C3-01

Has anyone else noticed that from time to time the text messages when viewed in a converstaion format (chat listing for each sender's name) can get mixed up? So one user's latest text is showed in the conversation of a text message conversation with another user.
There is no pattern to when this happen.. but it is more common after a period of semi heavy text messaging with a few people at the same time. It is always easily rectified by turning the phone on and off again.. as this seems to reallocate all the messages back to the right person. But if not noticed then a text message from "person-1" can be displayed as being from "person-2", so when reply you think you are replying to "person-2" but actually it is sent to "person-1". Eeeek!
This has happened about a dozen times to me over the space of half a year. With the exeption of this "glitch", I am happy with the phone.

This may occur when u send same msg to 2 different ppl. So it may appear either as sent msg separately or within conversations with 1 of them.
Please mark the post as solution if it solves your problem.

  • Corruption in conversation view

When viewing messages in conversation view, if a new message arrives, quite often I can't view it if I click on it in the list of messages.  It just shows up as a grey window.   There are two ways that I know to get it to show up:  unselect "Organize by Conversations", or destroy and recreate the message viewer window (Command-W, Command-0).  This has been happening ever since ML.  The whole "Organize by Conversations" seems to have been broken in ML.  Another issue that I have is that messages will get threaded incorrectly or not at all.  This is also fixed by Command-W, Command-0.  Has anyone else seen this behavior?  I am using the Classic layout, not the new 3 column one, if this has any bearing on the problem.

    Hi there,
I cannot reproduce what you said. When I enable the Conversation View in my Outlook, the category shows as normal. Have you changed anything else?
Or try to reset the view setting, you can find the Reset View
button from the View ribbon >> Current View.

  • Mail conversation view

    Hi,
In Conversation view i only see the replies to my emails, not my replies itself as part of the conversations.
When i click "See more from Jay" it unfolds into regular old style mail message.
This worked very well in the beta versions and the GM but i can not get it to work in the app store released version.
    Clean install was done.
    Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks,

My own replied messages do not show you even when I I check "include related messages".
    Has this feature changed?
I would like to see my own replied messages in conversation view. Not only the messages from form others. It creates a gap in the communication chain view.
    Any ideas?

  • "Conversation" View in SMS Text Messages

I am unable to change the settings in SMS text options to 'conversation' view. I followed the instructions on this help page but I didn't even havesome of the buttons that were mentioned. My other BB's (9300, Bold 9000) defaulted to conversation view. This is making me crazy!! Each new text has a new, seperate window. ALSO--does anyone know how to download music from your PC to your BB? My PC won't even register that I have a device plugged in. W_T_H!!!

While you can have SMS (and MMS) messages NOT listed in the Messages folder, the only way to see only SMS messages in the Messages folder is to run a search.  You can save searches and assign an [Alt] key combination to execute the search, and as far as I know, ALL BlackBerries come with [Alt]S set as a Saved Search that will display only SMS messages.
You can read more about using Saved Searches here:

  • Can no longer see messages in public folders in Outlook (2010) conversation view

(originally posted this under MS Community outlook discussion and it was suggested I post it here):
    Hello:
I believe this may be related to a recent update, but previously I could see messages from public folders in my conversation view.  Now, I am only able to see messages in private folders (including sent items).
I have the cached exchange mode on.
I loved the conversation view because I could move e-mails out of my inbox to public folders (on our company server) to keep my inbox under required size limits, but still have easy access to e-mails within the conversation string.  That view in my
opinion was the best upgrade to Outlook when it first came out.  Now it's virtually useless for me again.
If there's something i can change to get those messages re-appearing again I'd really love to know what I can do, it was really useful for me.
Thanks in advance to any who reply!

    Hi,
Based on the descrtiption, I know that there is no emails exist in public folder when using conversation view in Outlook after installing update.
    1. I suggest use OWA to check whether emails exist in public folder when using Conversation View. If it works well, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
    2. Please check the connectivity between Outlook and Public Folder.
    3. I suggest disable conversation view for test to verify whether emails appear in public folder. If the emails appear, it seems an issue on Outlook Conversation View.
    4. I also suggest run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins. Try to re-create profile to refresh the caches.

  • Conversation View for short messages?

I'm using Nokia features phones for a little time now, and something that I always felt like missing was a “conversation view” for short messages, instead (or aside) of the antique Received/Sent model.
Today, I watched the promotionnal video for the Nokia 301.
And it seems that there's finally a proper way to display discussions!
    That's really interesting!
    Now I'm wondering:
Is this really the new SMS interface from the S40/NokiaOS system, or a specific application for chatting or for Facebook or something else?
I'm currently using a Nokia 2700 “Classic”, using version 07.80 (18-08-09). Is there a way to update my system to the version with this new conversation view?
Starting which version of the OS is this view implemented?
If the 2700 is not compatible with this, is there any third-parties (.jar or something) applications for managing (safely) my SMS in a similar way?
I plan to update to the C2-01 or the 301 one day, but not right now. For the first one, is this interface also available?
    Thank you for your answers,
And I'm glad that's the only thing that was wrong with this OS seems to be fixed!
    Have a nice day,
    ~ nicolas

Like on most other modern phones (including iPhones, Androids and Windows Phones) the conversation view is now the standard messaging view and cannot be changed. The old way of sorting messages in sent and received folders is pretty much a thing of the past.
All you can really do is get used to it or find a basic phone that still uses the old sorting method. If you are upset about this I suggest you blame Apple as it was them that pretty much forced it to become industry standard.

  • Conversation view not grouping all related messages - Outlook 2010

Hello, I have 2010 and just started a new job with a new laptop...so the first thing I did was go straight to Outlook to setup my Conversation View, along with all other rules and such I had before.  However, it's not working properly.  First off,
it's not including all my sent messages in conversations...only SOME of the time.
Second, and more importantly, it's creating more than one Conversation for each group of messages. I tried to include a screenshot below, but it wont let me because I just signed up so I'll describe it.  There are two conversation groups for 'My First
Expense Report' with Brenda.  The first conversation is when she first replied to my message.  The second separate conversation started with my response to her reply, and then her second reply.  These should be grouped together!
Brenda and I are the only two people in the thread, and the emails happened today.  This is worse than not having conversation view at all, because I'll see a conversation and think all messages are there...but they're not, they're in some other conversation
    for some unknown reason.
It's driving me crazy as an avid Outlook user.  This didn't happen to me on the same version in my old job and I'm afraid I'll miss important stuff.  Can anyone help?

    Hi,
Since I don't know your detailed view settings, I suggest you exit Outlook first, then start Outlook with the switch "cleanviews":
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /cleanviews” in the blank box, then press Enter.
Then re-set the Conversation View to try again:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/view-email-messages-by-conversation-HA010362041.aspx
Additionally, do you use Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007? There are some known issues with Outlook 2010 & Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007:

  • View messages without conversation

Since I updated my N8 to nokia belle, my messages in inbox only show up as conversations.
I click on "Messaging", I see converstions -  but I want to be able to see the folders (inbox, sent items, drafts, etc...)
Please help me to see folders instead of conversations. Thank You for your help.

    Hi Ranjanch,
Thank you; but that is not what I am looking for. With Nokia Anna, when I clicked on "messaging", I would see all the folders. I want the same functionality with Nokia Belle also.
I do not want to click messaging and then view folders. I want a single step and not more than one step to view the folders.
    Thanks!

  • Text Messages Conversation View to Folder View : N...

Model:       Nokia Asha 308 Dual Sim S40 Touch Screen
    Section:     Text Messaging
Problem:     By default text messages are in conversation view.
    1) Does "Asha 308" Support folder "View Flders"?
    2) If yes then please tell the method!
    3) If not then how can this feature be suggested to Nokia, so it can in incorporated in any new mobile software release.

There is no such way to view them in folder view and I see no need of a separate folder view as the conversation view was only implemented when there were plenty of requests for the same.
Its a good feature, allows easy chatting. Still, if you wish to leave feedback for the implementation of a folder view, you can contact Nokia using appropriate media, not here.

  • Mail app conversation view excludes first message

I've trying to switch over to Mail from Outlook.  One thing I'm noticing is that in "conversation view" for messages, the orginal message is excluded.  For instance is someone sends me a message with a subject of "Hello!" and then I get a reply the subject is "Re: Hello!"  I realize it's grouping using the subject line but it should probably exclude things like "Re:", "Fw:" and others.  Is there anway to get this to happen?

Is the box checked in Mail>Preference>Viewing  include related messages.

  • Feedback on Outlook 2010 Conversations View

Outlook 2010 Conversations view is a great idea, but the Beta implementation has a few usability problems which prevent the feature from being successful-- if I had to use the feature in RTM in its current Beta state, I'd probably turn it off. But fixing it seems not too difficult-- there are only a handful of very annoying usability issues I've found so far.  It'd be great to see the issues below addressed in RTM.
    1) Keyboard Navigation shouldn't cause auto-expansion. When using the keyboard arrow keys to scroll through my inbox, Outlook will auto-expand the selected conversation.  The result is that scrolling with the keyboard is like playing whack-a-mole, with conversations expanding and collapsing seemingly at random.  This prevents effective reading of message titles and auto-previews.  The same thing sometimes happens when I delete a conversation and the following conversation is selected. In either case, you should *never* auto-expand a conversation unless I press ENTER or right-arrow on a selected conversation.  For mouse selection, auto-expansion seems more reasonable since you're not doing mouseclick-mouseclick-mouseclick in sequence like you do from the keyboard when reading and deleting messages.
    2) Converation "From" is confusing. Your "From" field shows any unread senders only, and shows all senders if all messages are unread. I'd expect to see all senders in both cases. What's even worse is when you use auto-preview and the most recent message is already read. In that case, you'll see auto-preview text from the most recent (read) message but see a sender(s) of older messages. You'll see User-X's name as sender of User-Y's AutoPreview text.  Weird!
    3) minor thing: double-click of a collapsed conversation opens the newest message. Once it's expanded, double-click doesn't do anything. It should behave the same in both cases.
    4) If you hit up arrow or down arrow to select a conversation, then quickly hit ENTER to open the top message in the conversation, it doesn't do anything. If you do the same thing but wait one second, before pressing ENTER, it will open the newest message. Behavior should be the same in both cases.
    5) When I use up/down arrow to select a message with auto-preview showing, sometimes the auto-preview will vanish and sometimes it won't. This is really disconcerting since my eyes need to jump upwards several lines to see what just got expanded. If something is there when the thread is collapsed, it should stick around when it's expanded. Oddly, I don't see this behavior for all conversations-- some will stay showing auto-preview, some won't. Perhaps only one-line auto-previews stick around while 2-3 line autopreviews are hidden upon expansion?
    6) When I right-click on a collapsed conversation, I'd expect to see "reply" or "reply-all" options (meaning reply to the topmost message in that conversation) but instead I need to separately select the message to reply to.
Other than these gripes, I think conversations view is definitely headed in the right direction. Nice work!
BTW, I already posted this feedback to the Office 2010 blog, but I got no responses there so am posting here so my feedback won't get lost.
    Justin Grant

Thanks Diane for the quick reply!  Some follow-up notes:
    1. Cool!  This is exactly the behavior I was looking for. Once I clicked the checkbox in Options, the behavior is much more predictable when using the keyboard.  It's a bummer this setting is not easier to discover.  Seems like this should be the default setting.  Note that there's a display bug when this option is selected-- I sometimes see odd visual artifacts after I collapse a thread with the keyboard, e.g. rectangles which aren't painted correctly or show up as gray boxes.
    2. Nope, you didn't understand correctly. :-)  The problematic scenario is where there are some unread and some read messages in a conversation. In that case, the autopreview text shows for the most recent message in the thread (regardless of whether it's read or not) but the "From" field shows the senders of the unread branches only. The result is you can see a sender of one message showing up above the autopreview text for a totally different message. This is weird. And then once you read the last unread message, all the senders come back in the From field, so reading one message causes From to show 10 senders where before it showed only one.
After using it for a while, I like the auto-preview behavior of always showing the most recent message in auto-preview, even if that particular message is read. I also like the behavior of continuing to show auto-preview until all branches of the thread are read. What I don't like is the "From" behavior showing a varying number of senders depending on what's read vs. not. Instead, I'd like to see "From" show all the senders on the thread, in order of recency (most recent branches should show up at the front of From).  Extra credit if unread senders show up bold and read senders unbold, but I'd also be OK with all senders showing up bold if the mixed boldness is too hard.
    3. try double-clicking on the name (the top line) of an expanded conversation. the double-click doesn't do anything. it should collapse the conversation-- the reverse of what happens when you double-click on a collapsed conversation.
    4. doesn't matter now that I have a solution for #1! :-)
    5. not a big deal now that I have a solution for #1.
    6. This was a bad choice for cleanup: reply is the probably most common (after delete!) operation you want to do on a conversation!  Certainly more common than printing or quick steps or the other random things remaining in that context menu. Anyway, thanks for the tip-- I always use right-click for replies, didn't think to use keyboard.
    > FWIW, most people don't like the conversation view.
Hmmm. Now that I know about the keyboard no-expand setting, I like Conversations a lot more! If the Office folks can fix the From field issue (#2 above), then the feature will be, to me at least, good enough for RTM.
But assuming these usability quirks get fixed, I really do need this feature.  I get hundreds of messages per day and without Conversations I'd have a much harder time dealing with the incoming load-- this is a feature I've been needing for years. I also really like the ability to see my Sent items on the same Conversation without making a trip to Advanced Find.
FWIW, Conversations (assuming the usability issues get addressed) is literally the only feature of Office 2010 that would justify the upgrade price for me.  The other improvements in Outlook and the other Office apps are nice, but Conversations saves me several minutes every day... and that productivity adds up quickly!

  • How to enable mail trail lines in Outlook 2013 conversation view

I was wondering if this feature still exists in Outlook 2013.
In Outlook 2010, when using conversation view, you can see the trail lines showing the "conversation tree". Please see the first image at the following link (can't post direct link or image as my account, though should be, is not verified): office.microsoft{dot}com/en-gb/outlook-help/view-email-messages-by-conversation-HA010362041.aspx
The closest feature in Outlook 2013 is Use classic indented view in Conversation Settings but it only indents the messages.

So, what exactly is the benefit of Outlook 2013?  As far as I can tell all they've done is let me see less mail (because the fonts are gigantic now), ruin the interface (with all the color and icons gone it's harder to find things), ruin the text rendering
(some parts use ClearType and some ignore it), and remove features (search from start menu, conversation threads line, etc).
I get it, now it looks like a phone, because obviously smartphone email is what we should aspire to.  A+ work.

  • Attachments not viewable in conversation view in Outlook 2010

We have an installation of Outlook 2010 on XP Pro SP3, and when the inbox is set to view by conversation and there are messages that contain attachments within a conversation, I will open the message that contains the attachment, but there will be no attachment
visible either at the top of or within the body of the message. If I change the inbox view to a view other than by conversation and then open the same message, I can see and open the attachment just fine. How can it be fixed so that I can interact with attachments
    while in conversation view?

    Hi,
After reproducing your situation, I can view the attachment with in a conversation.
Regarding this situation, I suggest let’s click “reset view” then test this issue again. If the issue still persists, let’s repair
    the Outlook.
Hope it does help. If the issue still persists, please let me know.

  • Shared mailbox conversation view; on behalf sent items

Update rollup 4 for SP2 introduced the possibility to have a sent item stored in the shared mailbox on behalf of who you sent it.
Now this works ok, sent items in fact are saved in the sent items folder of the shared mailbox.
But if you put that shared mailbox inbox in conversation view, the sent items are not shown in the conversations. This makes it hard to follow a conversation (as it was before).
Is this a known issue ? By design ? Existing workaround ?

    Hi,
Based on my test, after setting by the following KB, I can see all messages which is send by others in Sent Items of Shared mailbox. It also works in Conversation View.
The sent message is not saved in the Sent Items folder of the shared mailbox
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972148/en-us
As for your issue, please check the DelegateSentItemsStyle value in regedit and make sure your Microsoft Exchange account is set to
Use Cached Exchange Mode to see whether the issue persists.
    Thanks,

  • Outlook conversation view when using Send on Behalf of Accounts

Ok, so here's what I'm working with:
Have a group of users that were recently setup with a generic mailbox using "Sent on Behalf of" permissions. They can all view the account in Outlook (2010) fine and can send messages fine from it as well. We made the registry change on all machines
that causes mail they send from that account to appear in the "Sent Items" folder of the generic account instead of their own and that is working well. The only issue is that when attempting to use conversation views they will not work (you replied
to this message, you forwarded this message, etc.) now. As a test, I moved a few items from the Sent Items folder in the generic account over into the Sent Items folder of one of the users own Outlook accounts and the conversation views then works correctly
    for those messages.
So basically, it appears as if the registry key change worked for changing where the sent mail from this account goes to, but Outlook doesn't realize that's where they are so conversation views won't work. Anybody have any ideas on this?

    Hi,
I can reproduce this behavior in my environment. Outlook can organize
Inbox and other mail folders in conversation view, but Outlook can't organize emails in other mailboxes within one conversation thread.
When we set the registry to have Outlook save email in the "Sent Items" folder of the generic account, the sent mails are not in their own mailboxes. So in theory, it's the default and proper behavior of Outlook.
Something you may want to know about Conversation group:
