Mixer compatibility/Recording le

Email support for this question seemed out of reach.... so I'll try it here.
I have an old Radio Shack 4 channel mono/stereo mixer that, once upon a time, I fed straight into the motherboard audio jacks and used this to record on Digital Sound Planet's Quartz Audio Master product. Life was good. But the audio hardware had some quirks... so I purchased a SoundBlaster Li've 5. card at Wal-Mart.
It works......but.....there is a problem. For some reason..the mixer will not dri've enough audio to get the recording level meters up where they should be. The card sounds great as far as playback of anything. The Windows record slider is maxed out....and even when I max the channel slider on the mixer....the level meter will not quite reach the halfway mark As a result..when you play back the recording...the audio level is low.
I have begun to wonder about compatibility of the mixer with the SB Li've card.
I found the specs for the mixer on Radio SHack's web site...and it states that the OUTPUT is 0.mV at K ohm. I can't even find the sensitivity spec for the SB Li've....to know what it expects to see in. HOWEVER....that said.... Radio Shack has updated the product.....and they carry a new model of the same thing. When I look at IT'S specs....it says the output is .5V at 0K.
At this point... I'm going to sto and see what kind of opinions might come in. I guess , what I am wondering is....do these specs seem to explain why my record level is low?
Granted..the one I have is definitely older and the newer model seems to have changed specs aomewhat dramitically.

If you stopped by...thanks for reading.....but I got all the proof I needed.
I bought the new mixer with the newer output specs.....and it works like a charm. It pumps in more audio than I could ever need. The recorder's meters will go to full peak and beyond....with minimal to reasonable slider settings.
Life is good.

I would think a 15" with the i7 CPU. You can get a 13" with the i7 CPU but the 15" has a dedicated graphic chip along with the intergrated one.
You will also need to upgrade the hard drive to a faster 7200RPM model instead of the standard 5400RPM model that comes with all MBPs. The Sibelius website recommends the 7200RPM or a SSD. You will also be better off installing 8GBs of RAM.
Both of those upgrades can be made after you buy a MBP for much less then Apple charges for the same upgrades and you get to keep the original RAM and hard drive.

Adobe audition 3... chanel R and L get mix during recording ?

Hi, I have the new Adobe Audition 3 intsalled.
I don't know what's happening... When I try to record a song it won't be recorded in Stereo, I mean both tracks R and L get mixed... For example on R there's a guitar sound and L the singer's voice, so when you listen to it, R and L give two different sounds... this is no problem for Adobe Audition 2 but in the 3rd version both tracks get mixed Both R and L will record the guitar sound and the voice together ! How can I solve this problem `???

How are you mixing down the input tracks to the master output bus?
Did you remember to adjust the pan knob for a mono input track so it is not sent to both master output channels equally?
A guitar is a mono input, it is up to you to decide how to place it in the output stereo field by using the pan knob. By default it will be in the exact center, equal amplitude on both the left and right channels. This could be described as "mono".
Can you be more specific about how you setup Audition to record the two inputs?

Can't get Behringer Xenyx302 USB mixer playback; record works [SOLVED]

I just installed Arch Linux and can't get my USB audio mixer to work. When using it on Windows, it acts as an external sound card, and works great! But for some reason, when I tell KDE Control Module to change the sound card to PCM2902 Audio Codec, and click OK, it just switches back to Juniper HDMI Audio. I can't get it to stay. If I click Apply, and switch Sound Device to Recording instead of Playback, the meter registers sound from my microphone! (Which is plugged into the mixer.) So the mixer is at least half-working... but it's the less important half. Any ideas?
I have PulseAudio and pulseaudio-alsa installed. I'm not sure if KMix/KDE is using PulseAudio, though, or if it's using ALSA. Not sure how to find that out.

EDIT: Oh, and after restart, that alsa-base.conf doesn't seem to have fixed anything. Let me try tweaking it to be more like your example... Okay, looks like the only difference is sda_hda_intel has two values for index. Made it 2,3 but I don't think that'll change anything for this.

Using mixer to record to logic, No input signal

I recently got logic pro and an alesis multimix 16 usb 2.0. I have made a few songs in logic so far using midi instruments, and have gotten pretty familiar with the interface and the controls. Today i finally set up my mixer, installed the drivers and so on and plugged it in. Logic immediately recognized it and asked something like would i like to use this mixer. I said yes, and tested the output by plugging headphones into the mixer and playing a song in logic. It worked.
Now i plug a microphone into the mixer, create a new audio track, and attempt to record some guitar. I dont get a signal. The mixer is receiving the signal, i can hear it in my headphones plugged into the mixer. But not in logic. It works in garageband. Not in logic. I have the input and output device set as the mixer. I have been trying for a few hours now to get it to work, reading through the manuals, and pressing many buttons. I can't get it to work in logic pro 9 at all.

This has been discussed before on this forum, it may be problem with the Alesis drivers, I don't know if it's been addressed by Alesis yet. You might run a forum search on Alesis Multimix and see what shows up.
The only other thing I can think of is you don't have the channel strip set to the right input. Sometimes Logic does a strange thing with input numbering... try selecting different inputs while playing the guitar and see if any signal shows up.

When I bought this I asked if it had "What you hear" under recording and was told it had "Stereo Mix" instead and it would do the same. I accepted that as my Gateway has this as well and it works great. However, using the same settings as for the Gateway and using either Audacity (Latest Version) or DAK7 Wav Editor it's like I can't get the recording signal high enough. Sound barely register on the wave chart with the recording level as high as I can get it both in the programs as well as under the Stereo Mix Property. Playing back what I record require the volume to be at max and the quality is very bad. Am I missing something?

I have had the same problem ever since I bought my laptop with "beats audio". In my former PC this worked perfectly with Realtek HD Audio. Someone please help!

Peavey S32 Mixer / MacMini recording...yuck

I have been recording from the USB output from our Peavey Sanctuary32 mixer for several years. I recently upgraded from a PPC based PowerMac to a MacMini. Now the USB is all garbled and Peavey say that their mixer is not compatible with USB 3.

If you have or can get a hold of a powered USB 2.0 hub, plug that into the computer and the mixer into the hub.
Note: This doesn't work for everyone or with all interfaces so borrow one if you don't have one.
If it does work, whatever you do, don't upgrade the OS to Yosemite.

Premiere CS4 Audio Mixer sometimes records at 33kHz sample freq

Premiere CS4 has been working fairly well for me when editing travel videos from miniDV tape camcorders, except that when I add voice over using the Audio Mixer it sometimes (10 to 15% or the time) recordes at a 33kHz sample frequency. I have it set fro DV tape editing and 48kHzsample frewuency, but it still, at times, recordes at a 33kHz sample rate. I use Adobe Audition to correct the sampe rate and finish the audio clip. Soundbooth is not a convienent as Audition 1.5 for editing voice over clips - wish it was! Do I have something set wrong, or is this a bug in Premiere Pro CS4?

Yes, It should be recording at 48kHz, and most of the time it does,
but all to often it records at a lower sample rate and I have to redo
it. Not a big problem, but most annoying. I can't find anything
that I do differently to cause it to happen. In my current project I
am up to voice over number 27 and it has happened roughly four or five times.

Satellite L875 - No Stereo Mix for recording or streaming sound

I've seen other posts about this problem, but would like to know if there is a solution for an L875 laptop running Windows 7 64-bit version.

As I said in my first posting, I could enable the stereo mix on my Satellite. But there is one difference to the P300-16N; my notebook supports Realtek sound chip, your notebook supports Conexant CX20561 sound chip
Maybe this is the reasons why the stereo mix is not available.

What is a good choice of equipment to economically interface the following (probably only 1-3 input sources per track), to GarageBand?
1 - Shure low impedance microphone (plus a low-z to hi-z transformer )
1 - Sure high impedance microphone
Instruments: Electric guitar, bass, and Yamaha PSR-270 keyboard with Midi (I have a Yamaha USB MIDI cable)
I am trying to get my kids interested in music. My ulterior motive is while playing in a band in the 80's, I always lusted after an 8-track studio. I recently discovered GarageBand and I saw how affordable 8 and 12 channel Behringer mixers are. To reduce initial costs, should I start with an analog mixer and later get a USB or Firewire audio digitizer interface?
Other interests are karaoke and I think a mixer would be useful for that as well.

With only around $150 to play with, I'd do it in the other order. Start with an audio interface, and then later build up from there. While studio hardware used to be more oriented around a mixer, these days, with digital audio workstations like Garageband including the mixer in software, the hardware is more oriented around the interface.
I'd check out some USB interfaces in your price range (avoid the Digidesign hardware because it's geared towards ProTools). Sweetwater is a good site to research equipment:

There are also some hybrid interfaces that combine analog mixers with digital interfaces, but the ones I know of cost more than $150.

Mixing Garageband Recording with my video

I want to record a choir with my Video camera and import to imovie. I want to record the audio with my mac using garageband and a nice mic to get a good sound. How can I import the audio to imovie and get the voices to sync with video?

After editing in GB, Share your GB project in AIFF, MP3, or AAC. You can either share to iTunes (for convenience) or share to a file.
In iMovie, open the Music Browser and navigate to your track in iTunes. If you shared to a file, open the finder, find the file, and drag it into your project and drop it on the frame where you want it to start.
For synching, you can use a clapperboard, or some people have suggested tapping the Mic with the camera so both will register the "click".
[This Video Tutorial|http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/imovie08.html#audioclips] may be helpful in understanding how to edit audio in iMovie. It is a video for iMovie 08, but not much has changed in 09.

Audigy 4 Analog-Mix - Recording independ

I hope you can understand my english, 'cause I'm german!
my problem:
I need the "analog mix" (line-in) from my audigy 4 to record sounds from a radio station. I'm using the Creative "Smart Recorder" from the "Creative Media Source Go"-software-package. When ever I'm choosing "analog mix" as recording-source, my card records everything going out & coming in by this card. When I'm starting a game or watching a movie while recording from "ANALOG MIX" (=LINE IN), my card records both, the line in - signal and the sound that is played by the movie or by a game f.e.
Also: when I open the volume control (play-back, not recordinig) and turn the slider for "analog mix"-loudness to zero, the card doesn't record any signal any more. That means, the playback and recording aren't independent. But I need this function because I want to use my PC "normaly" when recording from the line in.

Hhm I can't understand that!
There is also a "what you heare" available as the record-source. That thing records everything (incoming and outgoing).
With every (simple) onboard-Soundcard I used I could record from the line-in while playing something other to the line-out and all was idenpently. Also I could turn the playback-volume (from the line-in) to zero while the record-volume is still at the position it's needed for recording and it worked.
I've bought the Audigy 4 some weeks ago to get a better Input-Signal (and it's even very better), but I didn't know that I wont be able to record and playback at the same time. That's a pity
Only the Mic-In can be recorded this way but I can't use the Mic-In for my Radio-Signals because it's too strong.Message Edited by snoop on 02-23-200604:23 AM

Static during playback of voice recorded through external mic and mixer

I have an external mixer plugged into my USB and sound quality is great playing through mixer (listening through headphones plugged into the mixer) but when I record and playback of through GarageBand I hear lots of static and clicking sounds. I hear the static whether I play through my external speakers or headphones hooked up to my iMac.
I set up a new Real Instrument > Vocals > No Effects
Input: Channel 1
Format: Mono
Monitor: Off
When I use the Cubase software that shipped with the mixer, to record and playback, the sound quality is fine playing through the computer

Ok the fact that the volume is very low is something to correct first, because that's not right. That mic requires either Phantom power or two AA batteries to function, do you have that provided? The Mic input gain on the Line-6 Pod is where you raise the recording level.
It might also help if you posted a screen shot of logic's Audio preferences.
