Mixer not connecting correctly Firewire 800

Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me out. I have a Phonic Helix 18 MK II Firewire mixer connected to my mac mini osx 10.6 via 9 pin to 6 pin firewire cable.
First off the mixer is not defective as it works perfectly on my PC Vista (Via 4 pin to 6 pin cable) and on my Mac book (Macbook does not have Snow leopard) (6 pin to 6 pin cable)
When I plug the mixer into my Mini it shows as one of my audio inputs with all 16 channels but the channels are all grayed out. When I try to record channel 1 of my mics records fine. Channel 2 sounds distorted. The other 14 do not recored at all.
According to the website the mixer is plug and play for all macs with OSX 10.3 and up.
When I go to sound preferences and test the Mics they all seem to be working as the sound indicator moves as I talk into each one.
I have tried to record on Gargage band, Reason and Aducity. In the Aducity preferences it shows all 16 channels...however if I try to change it to any other channel other then one it gives me an error which says "Please check the input."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK after many days of searching and trail and error, I was able to get it to work... although not exactly how it is ment to work. I found the only program that let me pic an individual channel was Garage band. The only way to get it to work on Procaster and Skype I downloaded a program called Soundflower.
Soundflower lets you make it the output in Garageband and make it an input on any other program such as skype.
So bottom line is I have it working until the boards manufacturer gets an update for Snow Leopard

  • Canon Gl2 Video Camera Not Recognized with Firewire 800 Connection

I have a late 2010 mac with 2.93 Ghz Intel Core i7 Processor with 12GB DDR3 running 10.8.2 OSX.  I have a Canon GL2 video camcorder with a MiniDV tape I am trying to download to my computer.  I am using a new 4pin to 9pin Rocketfish Firewire 800 cable. My computer is not recognizing the firewire input from the GL2.  As suggested with other support threads, I have tried to turn the mac and computer off and on, as well as check to see if the cable is working.  I have also tried both a trial version of Final Cut, and Imovie 09 which is loaded on my Mac, neither of which will recognize the camera.  I clicked on the System Information icon and looked at the Firewire 800 status which was:
    FireWire Bus:
Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices.
Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec
At least I know it recognized something.  I have also checked to make sure the Canon is set to DV-Out on the Menu.  Since I am unable to use a USB connector with MiniDV, would there be any other way to either A) Download the video to the computer, or B) get the Mac to recognize the source plugged into the Firewire?   Any help with this would be excellent.

I believe that in order to be recognized, you have to start the process from within iMovie of Final Cut; as for your FW port, you can try these two different troubleshooting steps (may or may not work, but won't hurt):
    Reset SMC:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    PRAM:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
It may that your FW port is defective; it that turns out to be the problem, I hope you purchased Applecare because those ports are an integral part of the logic board, so that would have to be replaced ($$$).
Since your footage is on DV tapes, you do need the FW to transfer it or it will not work. One other (involved) way would be to transfer your footage to a DVD if you have a DVD recorder and then get it on the Mac from there.

  • Canon ZR 900 camcorder not recognized  by FireWire 800 using an adaptor to bring it down to 400

2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory:  2 GB
The iMac does not recognize video camcorder.
Port is 800 and I use an adapter to bring it down to 400.
Camera is a Canon ZR 900.
Connected using FireWire from camera to adapter and into the FireWire 800 port.
Am trying to use this set up in a school using Boinx TV software.
Tried to load video into iMovie but would not recognize the camera (only Built in iSight would show)
    Any suggestions?

    (1) I don't use a ZR 900, but my best suggestion is to try at least one different connection method to see if the adapter you have might be the problem.   Here are some examples you can consider:
    • This Firewire 400-800 cable can work:  http://store.apple.com/us/product/H7041ZM/A (I use this one.)
    • Some users report that this low-priced alternative cable works:
       http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189097
    • To use your iSight's FW400 6pin-6pin cable, you can use a 6pin-9pin adapter like one of these:
http://tinyurl.com/ydsbb6m  (I successfully use this one, too.)
    (2) If you have other Firewire devices, you can connect one to verify that your Mac's port is working.  If not, try testing and resetting your Mac's Firewire using the instructions in this archived Apple knowledge base article:
    http://tinyurl.com/7288row
    (3) If you are still having trouble, you can test your camcorder and connection on a different Mac to see if it works with any you can find.  If no, the camcorder may need service.

  • External drive not connecting via firewire thunderbolt

I have a iMac at home and at work. This external drive connected via a thunderbolt/firewire adapter yesterday on my work iMac. When I try to connect on my home iMac it does not work. This drive is powered by the cable and I read that that is a problem but my trouble is that it did work on my work iMac yesterday but will not work on my home iMac today. I am using different adapters, is that the trouble? These macs are the same machine, one has more storage but otherwise the same.

I was thinking it might be an issue with the drive needing too much bus power. On the newer iMacs, USB provides higher bus power than FireWire. That might still be the issue, even if the drives supply their own power.
Just one Firewire port on my iMac.
I think it has two, but one is FireWire 400 and one is FireWire 800. So you only have one device plugged into those two ports?

  • Establishing a connection with Firewire 800

My computers: Macbook Pro 17, and PowerMac G5
Because my PowerMac G5 will not connect to my new 24-inch Apple Display, I would like to access files from my G5 via a Firewire 800 connection. How can I do this? When I connect the two computers with the Firewire cable, nothing happens.
Other: The G5's wireless antennae is missing, and I'm too far from the Time Capsule to establish an ethernet hookup. I have a bluetooth antenna, but for some reason it is not responding.

Other: The G5's wireless antennae is missing
Get that fixed - try to find a replacement on eBay as an example. Bluetooth isn't' going to be an option for your needs. Also look into ethernet over power lines...not a bad solution.

  • Print to Video does not work with Firewire 800 to 400 cable

I need to print video from a Mac Pro with only Firewire 800 port to a Sony DSR 50 with only Firewire 400 port. I'm using a Firewire 800 to 400 cable and I also tried a 400 cable with a 400 to 800 adapter attached. I'm able to control the Sony deck but I cannot get any audio/video to it.
    Anyone else have this problem?

When you've got the deck connected and in fcp you go to  view:  videoplayback, do you see the appropriate apple firewire option available and chosen?  And if you hit command-F12 (show all frames) do you see anything?  If it doesn't work, try restarting the computer with the deck remaining on.

  • Is there a way to establish connectivity via FireWire 800 port on iMac running Mavericks & my ZR300?

I have an Intel-based iMac running OS X (10.9.1 or Mavericks).  I can't get the iMac to recognize my ZR300 DV camcorder is connected.  I connect the camera to the iMac using a DV connection on the camcorder and a FireWire 800 connection on the iMac.  Is there a driver or some other fix to enable communication between the camcorder and the iMac?

    Hi jonrleist!
    Thanks for posting.
Your Mac should at least see the camera.  No additional drivers are required to make the connection.  It is possible the cable you are using has something to do with this.  Have you tried using other FireWire 800 cables?
If this is a time sensitive-matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.

  • New WIFI card will NOT connect correctly.

    Hi,
I just purchased a Gigafast WF748-CUI wireless card for my iMac G3 running Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.10) and I followed the instructions exactly and did everything right but it will NOT connect. It keeps generating these weird IP addresses beginning with 168. but my networks IP address begins with 192. I had the same problem with my previous WIFI card on the iMac but it would work eventually. I have been messing with this one for like 2 hours and it has shown no sign of working. I even entered a manual IP address in but still nothing. The program for the wireless card says its connected but it is not (or isnt connected to the right IP anyway). What do I do?

Sooo, there's no way the CP has to "Join" a Network? Just says you're connected to 169.x.x.x?
Might try making a New Location in Network CP, turn off all other Ports, the set the IPv4 settings to Manually...
    IP: 192.168.0.5
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router: 192.168.0.1
Assuming the Router is 192.168.0.1, but change the 2nd & 3rd digits accorcdingly.

  • Firewire 400- eMac wants to connect to Firewire 800-only iMac for migration

Is there any way (say, an adapter) to make it possible to connect an eMac to a brand-new iMac in order to migrate the files etc. from the older to the newer? It appears that the cable terminals are not compatible (I only have used the older Firewire 400 cables).
    Rich Look

    Hi Rich
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
One way is to use the Sonnet FireWire 400 to 800 adapter:
    http://store1.sonnettech.com/productinfo.php?productsid=87
You could also use a Network, a direct Ethernet connection or External HD to transfer your files.

Have a new Ipod nano. when I connect it to 2011 Kia Sportage it does not display the song list correctly. Have cable that Kia sells and it worked with my old Nano but not not the new one. Same results with cable that came with new nano. Help please

Alternatively, you can always use a double ended 3.5mm audio plug and just manipulate the playlist via the iPod and not the radio.

  • Disk was not ejected properly FIREWIRE 800 daisy chain

    Hi.
    I need HELP!!!
    I have an Imac 27in with firewire800 and USB2.
I have 3 GDrive HDD (self-powered) plugged in a daisy chain (Firewire800). The first one (1TB) in the computer, and the two others (2X 2TB), mounted in RAID 1 (mirror), plugged in series in the first one.
    3 disks ON.
Then at some point, erratically, the message DISK NOT EJECTED PROPERLY... MAY DAMMAGE... appears and the RAID DIsks go offline. If I open Disk Utility I can see that the RAID is FAILED. One time it corrupt one of the disk and I was unable to rebuild the RAID from disk utility. I even thought that one of the disk was the problem and bought a new one! Same problem happened. I had to retrieve my data with DISK WARRIOR.
So new disk, same way to connect them, new cables and the same problem happen.
It seem that at least one time, it happened when one of the disk (maybe the first one on the chain, the one not mounted into RAID) went out of idling or went to idle.
Sometime if i do shut down the Imac and all the disk and reopen all, and the disks data is ok. Sometimes I have to do a rebuild on the RAID 1, one of the disk being corrupted. wich is a very long procedure.
I read a lot of threads about that, didn't found any good answers about the problem.
It is a BIG problem, my raid 1 disks are scratch disks for video editing with valuable data on them!!!
Would a Firewire HUB could be the solution?
Is there a known problem about daisy chain with firewire800?
Does it have something to do with the fact that my second and third disks in the chain are mounted as raid 1?
PLEASE I AM DESEPERATED ABOUT THAT and I spent a lot of money for new disks and DiskWarrior for nothing!!!!
    Thanks
    Richard

Mns579 thank you for trying to help...
I did tonite some tests with two disks (no RAID) on a daisy chain. Ejecting one or the other in different order without shutting their power off... And no problem occured. The only time I had this alert about having ejected not properly a disk is when I shutted down the power from the first disk in the chain. Then the message popped up for the second disk still on.
But so far, no problem like the ones I had. So now it seems that there is some kind of problem with the RAID 1 setup.
In fact, when i do eject the RAID, the two disks seems to stop spinning or at least reduce normally their speed BUT they don't park their heads! Like if the processus is not complete.
Still trying to figure out what is the problem! RAID 1 was for me a very nice option to duplicate easily my video scratch disk and my photos backup bank.

  • Remote app for iPhone not connecting correctly

I use the Remote app to connect to my iTunes library. Everything worked fine until about 6 weeks ago, when the whole thing became intermittent. Sometimes it would connect, sometimes it would not.
I have the remote app on my iPhone 4S running latest version IOS and my wife on her iPhone 3G running whatever version that model is capped at. I also now have an iPad 3. none of them connect properly but all occasionally.
The iTunes library's I try and connect to are on a Mac mini core duo running lion, a MacBook core duo running snow leopard and a MacBook pro running snow leopard. The network is a airport extreme running both a 5Ghz a standard wi-fi. the Mac mini is connected using Ethernet and wake on LAN is enabled. Home sharing is enabled on all devices
The problem is the same connecting any iPhone /iPad to any Mac computer: the mobile device is paired and sees the iTunes library but fails to connect (most of the time: occasionally it works like a dream).
The only time they connect when I want them to, is if the tunes library has been started, by playing a song. Then the app seems to work okay. In the case of the Mac mini this is tricky as I'm running it purely as an iTunes library with no monitor, keyboard or mouse connected. So I have to turn on my MacBook and screen share to the mini, play a song and THEN the remote app connects; but then it stalls and I can't turn the music off unless I screen share in again! It kind of defeats the object of having the app.
I have tried allowing connections of iTunes on the airport. All firewalls have been turned off. I have updated all the software, reset all devices. I have even rolled back to an older version of remote app. Same problem.
It seems that in using only Apple devices to connect to Apples iTunes with Apples Remote app the software is fundamentally flawed.
I'm at a loss on what to next.
Has anyone got a similar experience? And is there a solution?

As is always the case, it isn't until after I post a question about a problem that I find a solution on my own. Turns out the problem was that I was running the beta version of iTunes 10.1 and just needed to update to the official 10.1 release of iTunes. Oops!

I have a pm g5 Dual 2ghz system ,i have connected an firewire 800 lacie 1tb external hard drive to the system, now the problem is it is not mounting on the desktop shows in the diskutility repaired the disk say's disk volume ok any way to mount the external hd on the desktop

Hi Veena, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
And you've tried choosing the volume and pressing the "Mount " icon on the tool bar of Disk Utility?
Have you shut down your Mac and disconnected your firewire cable from both ends and let it sit about ten minutes then reconnect and try. Also, it is important to disconnect the AC power to your Mac, this helps to reset the FireWire port(s).
Do you have TTP or DW, both of which you could use to try to mount it.
It is also possible that you have a bad cable or a bad port, do other FW devices work?

  • Mixing FireWire 400 with FireWire 800

How do I connect FireWire 400 Peripherals and FireWire 800 Peripherals to the single FireWire 800 port and preserve the FireWire 800 speed to the computer for the Firewire 800 Peripherals? (Obviously, the 400 speed peripherals cona only send and receive at 400 speed.)
My guess is that connecting the FireWire 800 peripherals to the computer and adding the 400 peripherals at the end of the 800 daisy chain may work. However, recalling the mixing things in other contexts (USB 1.x vs. 2.x and WiFi 802.11g vs. 802.11n) drags every device down to the slowest speed. Will that happen on a FireWire 800 and 400 daisy chain?
Anyone know of a FireWire 800 hub?

You cannot. If devices of different speeds are daisy-chained, the speed of the entire chain will drop to the speed of the slowest device, in this case FW400. A hub won't help.
The workaround is to get an ExpressCard FireWire adapter, and connect one set of devices to that, and the other set to the MBP's FW800 port.
