Mixing DVCPRO 50 with DV

I am about to start a project shooting both formats at 24p. The DVCPRO 50 will be at 24p advanced. I am not sure about the DV but I might get both advanced and non-advanced footage.
As the majority of the footage will be shot DV, I imagine it is best to cut on a DV timeline. Is that a correct assumption?
Is the DVCPRO 50 footage being down-converted to DV for editing?
If someone cold suggest a workflow using this above scenario I would be forever grateful.

Capture everything at the same codec. If the majority of the footage you have is DV, then capture at the DV/NTSC codec...yes, downconverting the DVCPRO 50.
DO NOT MIX FORMATS. Choose one. 30i, 30p, 24p, 24pa. If the DVCPRO 50 camera is capable of 24PA, why shoot in that format if the DV camera, that is shooting a majority of your footage cannot? Why shoot 24PA? What is your FINAL DELIVERY going to be? Tape? Then don't shoot 24PA. That is meant for film out or DVD release ONLY.
If you want the 24p "film look," then shoot 30i and use the Film Effects plugin from www.nattress.com. This way you ensure all your footage looks the same. shooting one camera 24P, and shooting another at 30i and using nattress to make ti 24P will give a different look.
Keep things simple. One format...one framerate. It helps no one to complicate things.

Mixing Ram with different CAS latencies in K7n2 Delta-L?

I have been using 512mb Kingston Value Ram in my computer, pc3200, with CAS latency of 3.0. I just purchased some Corsair value select 512mb ram pc3200 with CAS latency of 2.5. I know you are not supposed to mix ram with different speeds (like 400 vs. 333) but does it matter if the CAS latencies are different?
I'm running an AMD XP 1800+, K7n2 delta-L, nforce2 motherboard from MSI. Someone at a computer shop told me they tried mixing Kingston 3.0 CAS with Corsair 2.5 CAS, and said his computer wouldn't even post. So I'm wondering if this is an isolated problem, or you will always run into this problem if you mix ram with different CAS latencies.
If anyone has experience with this issue, please share with the board. Thanks!

The age old question, will the components I bought be compatible ? There are those that have bought identical matching memory that didn't work. In my case, I had an ECS K7S5A that used PC2100 Crucial memory, the sticks neither matched (at one time they did, but one stick died and they sent me the closest thing they had.). Neither of these Crucial sticks was identified by a configurator as being compatible with the K7N2 Delta L that I decided to buy. In the end, not only did both sticks work, but I put them in as single channel mode (ram slots 1 & 2), but later changed the configuration to dual channel mode (ram slots 1 & 3, even 2 & 3). It worked flawlessly in all three configurations. Sorry for the long answer, but in essence, there are no guarantees and your worries will drive you crazy. When memory is mixed, you reduce the likelihood of compatibility, even when you go beyond the recommended products that were specifically identified.
That guy at the computer shop, did he ever indicate or isolate the true reason why the memory wouldn't work ? Maybe, maybe not. I would think with a disparity in memory, the bios is the key to setting the settings for the worst stick of the bunch. Then again, the products you get might overclock to what the better sticks run at. My assumption is that mixed sticks, the bios retards settings to this in "auto" mode. When you force it manually, it may work or it may fail. One thing you oughta know, each and every stick has the manufacturers id encoded onto them at the very least, just like the firmware on other items indicates a manufacturer code and other data that allows these things to be compatible. So know you face that battle going in with any of them. If the bios programming doesn't allow it to work, from that perspective, there'll be problems.

An icloud account is designed to be used by just one user. If you have given your ID or set up your account on someone else's device, then their data will be mingled with your or worse.

We are recording 2 voices over an instrumental track. Every time there is a rest in the vocal part the volume of the instrumental track noticeable increases. Is this fixable? We are using Alesis multi mix 8 with 2 microphones.

Lastly since upgrading to iOS 7.0.1 (and beyond) Genuis has become effectively useless: it continually asks me to connect to wi-fi, and if I do it creates playlists mostly composed of tracks by the same artists or those very obviously linked to them- previously it created brilliant, nuanced playlists.
Are these things connected, and how do I fix them?

I have done this on numerous occasions but I think that my Iphone has a defect. After many tries, reinstalls, deletion of content, changing content to be stored on external hard drive, deleting itunes and cleaning computer I managed to get all of the songs on and things seemed okay for a while.
The problem returned about a week ago after downloading a new album from Itunes. I now have 12.5k of songs leaving 10gb spare on Iphone which should be more than enough room to operate properly. Last night it seemed to be dowloading ok (after doing all of the above again for the umpteenth time) this morning it revealed that it had just synched 2.5k of songs and 18gb of "other" on the contents bar. it wont synch now as it says its over capacity. So the 18gb of "other" would probably be corrupted data that means it must corrupt each song as it tries to synch it.
The 2.5k of songs it did synch are working on the Iphone as is every song in the library on Itunes. I did completely delete the new album I bought and redownloaded it from the store then tried to synch just that album and it worked fine.
Just about time to dump apple I think!

You're off the hook, Apple, and my apologies for stating that you let a dog run loose. You skated by this time, Apple. But I'm watching you.
But again, Putaro's reference to the plugins I had installed over the years turned out to illuminate the problem. I have several plugins in my iTunes plugins folder, pretty much all designed to add more visualizer functionality. I removed all of them, and ALL of the problems I noted in my post went away, with full iTunes functionality restored.
I began adding the plugins back to hopefully single out the culprit. Among the ones I had been using included fielder, G-Force, Timestrech, volcanokit, QuartzComposer, and Jax. I hadn't used any of them in a while - probably at least a verison or more back in iTunes updates, but iTunes continued to work with all of them installed. Currently, only QuartzComposer continues to work in iTunes 10.4. The rest no longer even show up as visualizer opitons, with one exception. Jax does show up, but does not work. AND THE PRESENCE OF JAX IS WHAT KILLED MY ITUNES.
I looked into it and went back to the developer, and it appears that they discontinued developing Jax some time ago - evidently, it was buggy and crash prone. I remember after buying it, having problems with it - having never worked to its touted potential, but I didn't pursue it, and never uninstalled it. Leaving it in there caused all iTunes functionality to cease with the iTunes 10.4 update.
If you've got Jax installed, consider removing it before updating to iTunes 10.4.
My iTunes is now working right as rain, thanks again to Putaro!

I already have three address books created for me by Thunderbird. I add all new addresses to one of those but am afraid to delete the other address books because some of their addresses are not repeated in my "main" address book. So if I don't delete all the names in one of the existing books, I need to create an empty book that will not mix the addresses with those in another address book. HOW DO I CREATE A NEW, EMPTY ADDRESS BOOK? I want to be able to create various mailing LISTS using the addresses in this new book so I will eventually have a special address book with a variety of mailing lists I can use as I wish.

Has anyone figured out how to make the Yamaha 01V96i mixer work with Logic 9.1.8 as a control surface ?

In YAMAHA01v96i:
Go to DIO/SETUP select Generic DAW. Go to MIDI settings page and set the desired port (personally I use Number 1), Select the same audio frequency you use in your DAW (I use 44.1KhZ)...at this point You should save a scene in you 01V96i to avoid to repeat all the procedure again.
Open studio manager, go to patch and set the input port from 17 to 32 respectively to USB1-USB16 (this will give you the return from you DAW to the 01v96i
Save again the scene overwriting the old one.
in LOGIC
Click on preferences, select Audio then select 01v96i, then click on control surface and select Mackie design Baby HUI and in the midi session set the same port that you've been setting on the Yamaha 01V96i (Port 1 if you follow this example).
That's more or less it.

Album mixing in with another album

downloaded an album and it has mixed in with another one. eg track 1 from one then track 1 from the second track 2 from the 1st then track 2 from the 2nd and so on. So 2 albums have merged into 1 on itunes then transferred onto my ipod as 1 album?

Any effect you apply to an individual track will only affect THAT TRACK, and none of the others, unless you have applied it in the MASTER TRACK, which will affect all tracks. You should only apply effect to the Master Track that you want to affect ALL tracks. If you only want distortion on a single track, then you need to assign it to only that track, in the track info box, not the Master Track info box. Is that by any chance what you need?

Podcasts mixed up with movies in Frontrow

Hi,
for some mysterious reasons my podcasts are mixed up with the movies in the movie list under Frontrow (movies stored in the Home/Movies folder.
Has anyone has few suggestions to fix this?

I've had that problem before too, a good way to fix this is to set your podcasts into a Compilation group (right click the song in iTunes, press "GetInfo" and go to "info" tab; at the bottom check "part of compilation"). This way the podcasts won't show up in Album and Artist listings but will still show up in Songs (and also shows up under compilations) on your iPod...

It can be exchanged at an apple store for around $249 to $219 depending on model
