Mixing up my text

have had a few times now when in a chat with two different people and her mail has come across under his chat, and yesterday his reply to me was sent through to her, its seams same to people its getting mixed up with?????

Hey --clowy--,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
Which chat program are you currently using? Also is the conversation in English or any different languages? How often does text change? Also did you update your BlackBerry Z10 software lately? I look forward to your reply.
Cheers.

• How can i recognize mixed format of text?

Mission:
if some text has "regular" fontstyle, i apply to it Bold style. And if it have mixed fontstyle (both bold and regular) i would like apply the Bold Italic style. But i discovered, that property FontStyle of text with mixed style is "Regular"! Then how can i recognize mixed format of text?
Thanks.

When you have a text reference, check to see how many textStyleRanges it has. If more than one, you have mixed formatting. Check the style of each textStyleRange.

• Mixing functions with text

Is there a way to mix functions with text within a formula?
eg =DATEDIF("21/9/96";NOW();"Y")&DATEDIF("21/9/96";NOW();"YM") produces 183
How do I parse this formula to produce 18y 3m?
All my attempts produce a parsing error.
I'd like to avoid splitting the result into two adjacent cells (my current solution).
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late-2012) - 8GB mem - 128GB SSD - OS X 10.10.1 - Numbers 3.5.2 (2118)

Hi zebadee,
I adjusted the dates and syntax for my region but this should work once you adjust it back.
While this gives you the desired result it will not be recognized as a duration in Numbers. If you are looking to use this value as a duration you will need to use weeks.
Hope this helps.

• Mixed Arabic/Latin text confuson in a single String

Hi all,
I hope someone knows the answer to this issue!
I've got an application in Java which calls another app via a stored procedure and callable statement, passing various parameters across. One of these parameters is a buffer containing transaction information.
Now we're working on an Arabic language proof of concept, and when I create this buffer containing both Arabic, Latin and numeric data, the order of the string is messed up.
E.g.
The data may be (in order):
I
AED
17
شارة النقاط
1.7
101010
Test seventeen
17D
This appears in the buffer (with some padding) as:
IAED17شارة النقاط 1.7 101010Test seventeen 17D
As you can see, the order has changed - the numeric fields appear to have been included with the Arabic text.
This causes the API we're calling to break, as you can imagine - expected fields are not appearing in the right place in the buffer.
The string for the buffer is being built as follows:
StringBuffer paramBuffer = new StringBuffer(BUFFER_INITIAL_CAPACITY);
while (iterator.hasNext()) {
String fieldName = iterator.next().toString();
// Get Object using field name from Vector.
FieldApi field = (FieldApi)fields.get(fieldName);
tempCtr = tempCtr + field.getLength();
if (field.getLength() == 0) {
break; // We have reached end of the fields
//Add each formatted field to param.
paramBuffer.append(field.getString());
Now, I suspect that I could get around this by constructing a byte array and using a setBytes method on my callableStatement. However, the set up of my JDBC connection means that I can't use setBytes (translateBinary is set to true, giving a data type mismatch exception), and this set up is something I can't change.
I'm sure this is a problem with the fact that Arabic languages are right to left rather than left to right, and the String I create attempts to format it in this manner (and gets it a little confused when a numeral is next to Arabic text). Is there a way I can tell the String to leave things exactly as they're added, rather than attempting to format them?
Any help would be appreciated! :-)
Cheers,
Dan
P.S. I'm aware that what is displayed and what is actually there may not be the same, but when I inspect the contents of the buffer in the stored procedure, the order is indeed wrong.

Hi Dan,
Some time ago a faced a similar problem whenn preparing text for display. I solved it by wrapping the text in a html table, thus forcing the elements to remain in the exact order I wnated them in. Something as follows:
import java.awt.BorderLayout;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JLabel;
import javax.swing.SwingUtilities;
public class MixedArabic {
public static void main(String[] args) {
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
@Override
public void run() {
new MixedArabic().createGUI();
private String[] parts = new String[] { "AED", "17",
"شارة النقاط",
"1.7", "101010", "Test seventeen", "17D" };
private void createGUI() {
JFrame frame = new JFrame();
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
frame.add(new JLabel(createString(parts, false)),
BorderLayout.PAGE_START);
frame.add(new JLabel(createString(parts, true)), BorderLayout.PAGE_END);
frame.pack();
frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
frame.setVisible(true);
private String createString(String[] parts, boolean formatted) {
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
if (formatted) {
sb.append("

");
for (String part : parts) {
sb.append(formatted ? "
" : ' ');
sb.append(part);
sb.append(formatted ? "
" : ' ');
if (formatted) {
sb.append("

");
return sb.toString();

• Icloud mixing up texts between 2 iphones

I have 2 phones on my itunes account. When I use the icloud, it mixes up our text messages!

okay, I think I understand...
I have my phone, my husband's phone and an ipad.
I messaged my son from the ipad (to his phone not on our account) and my husband was getting the messages and replies on his phone
Is there a way to avoid this?

• My brand new iphone 5 cuts out during calls all the time, doesn't send mt text messages and then when it does it sends them twice?! why?? is it just apple or my network provider? bearing in mind my iphone 4 did exactly the same, so its a new handset sim

Hi,
i have just updated my iphone 4 16gb to an iphone 5 16gb
The iphone 4 had horrific problems, for example: Cutting out on calls, it going silent, me not being able to hear the person i was speaking to and them being able to hear me, and then visa vera.. also the main button at the bottom started to break.. my text messages weren't sending and then when they did they would send several of the same one.. also with mixed messages in them.. some of the texts had been form ages ago and had been deleted anyway and bits of them would re appear in the middle of the text, but only show to the person recieveing the text.
I thought all of this might have been some water damage as i had nearly had it for 2 years... However on Tuesday.. ( 29th Jan) i recieved my new upgrade of the iphone 5.. i was so excited, but then today.. 2 days after recieving it, its starting to do EXACTLY the same things my old phone did... cutting me off, going quiet on the phone, not sending texts, then sending several ones... sending mixed texts. Safe to say i am fuming!!! i am with vodafone and rang them today asking why?! they said it couldnt be my handset as its a new one, couldnt be the sim because thats new too so it must be the area signal.. so she checked for me.. came back to me and said that the signal in my area is perfectly fine....?!?!?! that makes it even worse!!! so i have asked to return it....!! i was going to go with a different provider thinking that it was vodafone??but after looking on here it seems like its apple? i am very disappointed as i love everything else about the phone, but its impossible to have a phone like this! especially when i use it for work too!

My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

• Need some Help with the new Genius Mixes on iTunes 9

I would like to know how to use the New Genius Mixes on iTunes 9. I don't quit know how to use it yet and like all of us we're all just learning how to use the Genius Mixes. I did watch the KeyNote but they didn't go into great detail on how to use it. Does Apple have a web site that has more detail instruction on how to use the genius Mixes? I did find some info. on how to use the Genius mixes but it didn't go into great detail on how or what to do with the genius Mixex and thats what I need.
when I click on the genius Mixes icon under the "Genius", what shows up is a Big square with four album images of my music that I have in my music collection, I go and roll my mouse over the Big square with my four music albums and click on it to play the music and it'll play what ever I have in the Genius Mix list plus as I roll my mouse over the Big Square, under it it says "Jazz Mix" with some text writings under the Jazz mix.
I want to change the Jazz mix Title and I want to know how to add more music square boxes to my Genius Mixes just like they show in the Keynote and I would like to edit and create my own four square music boxes in my Genius Mixes.
I never used my music genius list, I always created just a play List, now I am just learning how to use this music Genius lists and I don't know how to use it at all and I need someone that knows how to use thr Genius Mixes list to help me how to use it since there isn't a how to book yet for the new iTunes 9.
Can someone Please help me with the new genius Mixes on iTunes.
Thank you,
Mrs Trisha Foster

Today, I was getting an array out of bounds exception on a split
I don't see how that could happen with the 'split' method since it creates its own array.
For this particular string, ordSplit.length = 24 and commas = 26.
PERFECT! That is exactly what it should be!
Look closely at the end of the sample string you posted and you will see that it has trailing empty strings at the end: '1096200000000242505,,,'
Then if you read the Javadocs for the 'split' method you will find that those will NOT be included in the resulting array:
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/String.html#split(java.lang.String)
split
public String[] split(String regex)
Splits this string around matches of the given regular expression. This method works as if by invoking the two-argument split method with the given expression and a limit argument of zero. Trailing empty strings are therefore not included in the resulting array.
Just a hunch but your 'out of bounds exception' is likely due to your code assuming that there will be 26 entries in the array and there are really only 24.

• Which event dispatched after text selection done on spark text area in Apple iPad using Adobe Flex 4

I need to know which event triggered after text selection done in Apple iPad. This way i have done in desktop air app code (mouse events)
protected function txtEditor_mouseUpHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
if(txtEditor.selectionAnchorPosition != txtEditor.selectionActivePosition){
showNoteToolBar(event);
txtEditor.focusEnabled = true;
txtEditor.setFocus();
But in Apple iPad how to achieve through "Touch Event" ? And also i need how to hide all context menu on Spaek TextArea?. Why Touch.End event is not fired after place cursor on text area ?
Please help me !

Ok, so I finally got it working but this is not ideal at all. Adobe really needs to give us some direction on how to properly deal with font embedding and TLF now that the release build breaks all functionality with loading runtime fonts and TLF.
Problem:
I am embedding collections of fonts (faces) into single family classes. Each individual face is registered with Font.registerFont(). I need to do this because I have to have mixed fonts within text flows - at least according to Alex H's recent blog post.
Fonts do not display in TLF without doing the following:
1. GlobalSettings.resolveFontLookupFunction = null;
2. editor.textFlow.flowComposer.swfContext = ISWFContext(this.getFontContext("AnyFamilyNameFromAnyFontEmbedded", false, false, FontLookup.EMBEDDED_CFF));
3. Instead of #2, use editor.textFlow.invalidateAllFormats();
Either #2 or #3 need to be performed. If I have a spark richEditableText control in MXML with defined familes from the loaded fonts. I even tried placing the control into a separate state so it wasn't created until after the fonts were loaded... I still needed to invalidate the formats or set the context.
The "AnyFamilyNameFromAnyFontEmbedded" does not need to be all of the embedded family names. It only needs to be one of them. Once one is used, all embedded fonts work. Also, I have to use the internal namespace to even get access to getFontContext, another oddity that, in my humble opinion, should never be necessary to create mixed style TLF content.
My questions are then:
1. Why am I required to use ISWFContext if I am using Font.registerFont()?
2. Why is GlobalSettings.resolveFontLookupFunction = null; also required for this to work?
3. What is the recommended workflow to embed fonts from multiple SWF files into the release build and have it work without having to jump through all these hoops?

• Flex 4 Release Build breaks text editor

I was working on an editor using FB4 beta 2. Fonts were loaded at runtime ... CFF is being used.
In Flex 4 SDK that comes with FB4 beta 2, my spark rich text field sitting in a group in my application looks fine - proper font families applied and renders correctly. My font + style drop down lists are all fine as well.
As soon as I switch to the release SDK, or any SDK later than FB4 beta 2 (well, major releases) the font styles are not longer properly applied to the field. Changes to the family no longer apply to the rich text field.
The rich editable text that I'm using is basically as follows:
<s:RichEditableText id="editor" fontLookup="embeddedCFF" renderingMode="cff"
focusEnabled="false" x="100" y="50" focusIn="focusInEditor(event)" focusOut="focusOutEditor(event)"
width="300" height="200">
<s:textFlow>
<s:TextFlow fontFamily="HelveticaNeueLTStd-MdCn">
<s:p fontFamily="HelveticaNeueLTStd-MdCn" fontSize="14" color="0x999999">Test first line of text</s:p>
<s:p fontFamily="HelveticaNeueLTStd-Blk" fontSize="18" color="0xFFFFFF">Test second line of text</s:p>
</s:TextFlow>
</s:textFlow>
</s:RichEditableText>
That probably isn't too important but I figured I would paste it anyway. I'm using setFormatOfRange primarily and this block of textFlow was only to get some initial content into the text area.
There is a ton of other related code for editing, selection, etc. It seems any font family related change does not get applied.
I know there have been a ton of changes and this may be difficult to pin down. However, this is pretty awkward. The application I was building loaded up fine, fonts loaded up all fine and all editing worked perfectly until going to release SDK.
Is there any change that would cause this to happen?

Ok, so I finally got it working but this is not ideal at all. Adobe really needs to give us some direction on how to properly deal with font embedding and TLF now that the release build breaks all functionality with loading runtime fonts and TLF.

• Spark Button Label with mixed font styles

I have a spark button, with a custom skin.
I would like to use italicised text mixed with normal text for the label.
Is there any way to do that?
A crucial aspect of my problem is that I am extending the Button component because I want to keep its accessibility features. I'm finding it very hard to find any info on how I might consider customising the button text.
I have got as far as setting the text component in my button skin to be a RichText component. But how could I assign rich text to it within the button?

Thanks for your reply, I'll check that out and see if I can get
it working.

• CFMAIL Attached vs. embedded (cfmail, multipart/mixed)

I want to send a mail which has a PDF attachment and an embedded image. When I send them both with cfmailparam (with correct disposition) they arrive in the email as attachments in the body...you don't get the little email paperclip attachment icon.
When I tried using mimeattach for the PDF it did work!...but the image denoted with cfmailparam also came through like that. So I looked the email headers of both and the good one was Content-Type: multipart/mixed; while the bad one was "multipart/related".
So how can I make cfmailparam send it as multipart/mixed? (if that's even the right question...maybe I should stick with mimeattach and do something else?)
Thanks Folks' - Randy

I never found a solution using cfmail. I had to resort to java instead.
I have all of my file information (including content) in a query called qFiles and loop through that in the code below.
<cfscript>

Help! I am using Captivate 7 and have recorded a module in which I am using a mix of standard Text Captions and Smart Shapes. All is fine until I save and close the file, then re-open it. On reopening, all the text in all the Text Captions and Smart Shapes disappears, and I have to click on each individual object, on each slide, for it to then magically re-appear! Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution? Thanks! J

Sounds like a corruption. Can you (trying to list up in sequence):
restart Captivate, problem still persists?
restart your system, clear cache in Captivate before opening project, problem still persists?
close Captivate and clean preferences; there is a file to run in the subfolder Utils under the Captivate installation folder.
When cleaning preferences you'll lose all customisation. Here is a post that can help you retrieve some custom things: Captivate 8.0.1 Install? Keep your Customisation! - Captivate blog
It doesn't matter if this was written for CP8, the location of the folders was the same in 7.

My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

Can you give me some tips ?Tip: Make up your mind. You can only send one thing as the response. If you want to send text, then send text. If you want to send an image, then send an image. In any case you should set the content type to indicate what you're sending.
You can only send a mixed bag of text and images in the unlikely case that you've defined your own content type along with a client which understands it. Or if you zip them all into a zip archive, or something like that.
