Mkarchroot fails if '/etc/pacman.d/gnupg' does not exist

I had an issue with one of my build boxes yesterday - suddenly my build script, which uses mkarchroot, failed. It failed with the below error:
cp: cannot stat '/etc/pacman.d/gnupg': No such file or directory
When investigating the problem, I discovered that mkarchroot has some new code at the end that invokes locale-gen using a new script called arch-nspawn that has been recently added to devtools (around 2013-05-02). It is arch-nspawn that attempts to copy "/etc/pacman.d/gnupg". If, for whatever reason, the host does not have that directory then the command will fail, which causes mkarchroot to fail.
Previously, mkarchroot worked fine without the presence of "/etc/pacman.d/gnupg" but now it doesn't.  I am unsure whether this would be seen as a bug.
This also made me think about the side-effect of copying the host's keyring into the new chroot (which may then end up copied to another host, thus giving two hosts with the same pacman keyring master key). According to this post, that is a bad thing. This isn't an area that I know much so I don't really know how bad that is in reality. I've read about a "pacman-init" service that creates a new key on each boot in a tmpfs but can't find any reference to it in the package repos (or aur).
The other thought I had is that the above means the use of arch-nspawn to enter a pre-existing chroot would cause its keys to be overwritten, which may or may not be desirable. I haven't tried this - it's just a thought.

I encountered the exactly same issue. One can create new GPG-Keys for pacman easily using:
pacman-key --init
But as starfry already suspects I think too, this is actually a bug..

  • ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist(EBS)

    Hi All,
    We are using Oracle EBS R12 on Linux x86 Enterprise Server.
    We have installed vision database (both apps and db on same machine)
    Host name: ERPDEV
    IP:192.168.1.211
    We can connect from client machines to our database using sqlplus i.e.
    sqlplus apps/****@vision
    Similarly tnsping is also successfully returning results.
    Also following commands are returning results
    ping erpdev
    ping 192.168.1.211
    ping erpdev.domainname.com
    All above commands are running fine.
    However we are trying to create new "Legal Address Entry" through "Legal Entry Manager". After filling all the details like Location,Country,City etc, when I push the apply button, getting following error messages:
    ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1674 ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist in Package xle_legal_address_swi Procedure create_legal_address
    I dont know why this ORA-12545 error is occuring through application although all of the above tests are running fine from client terminals.
    Do any one have any solution for this???
    Thanks

    Hi Guys,
    Thank you both for your responses, my findings are as follows:
    1. HOST=X.X.COM, ensure host is reachable : PING works and host(s) are reachable.
    2. In RAC Env, ensure TNS Name is correctly spelled, spelling fine, i can connect with the tns name (is TNS name same as SERVICE_NAME?) by: sqlplus 'user/user@racenv'; but my efforts still will not allow me to use:
    sqlplus 'user/user' it tells me that the host or object is does not exist, does this refer to the actual physical machine or the service name, or the instance name?
    All host entries in my tnsnames.ora file refer to the vip addresses of both servers holding the rac installation, and both are resolved just fine, testing with ping; any other way to test this?
    tnsnames file contains CONNECTION strings in the following order (does the listener entry need to be in the file? on the machine that i am trying to connect from?):
    LISTENER_ORCLTELE =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.9)(PORT = 1521))
    ORCLTELE =
    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC2))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    I tried removing all entries but the entry for MSRAC, but still no joy:
    MSRAC =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.12)(PORT = 1521))

  • Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

    Hello,
    I've installed XE 10.2 under Fedora Core 7 from the downloaded .rpm. The RPM installs fine, and I've run the config from the command line. I've edited my bash file to load the environment variables. Here's my hosts file:

  • (SOLVED) Pacman error: GPGME does not exist

    Hi, I have also just been struck with the same issue - a broken pacman (and for no reason that I can fathom). Was working perfectly yesterday and all I did that wan't usual was to uninstall clamav.
    Anyway, I have read this post and done a pacman -Syy, which upgraded core and archlinuxfr only. I then ran pacman -Syu and received this:

    Should I do a reinstall of pacman using the CD? I know this is clumsy, but anything I have missed?

  • RDS Gateway + Smart Card Error [ The specified user name does not exist.]

    I have the following Windows Server 2008 R2 servers:
    addsdc.contoso.com, AD DS Domain Controller for contoso.com
    adcsca.contoso.com, AD CS Enterprise CA, CDPs/AIAs published externally.
    fileserver.contoso.com, RDS Session Host for Administration enabled
    rdsgateway.contoso.com, RDS Gateway enabled
    tmgserver.contoso.com, 'Publishing' rdsgateway.contoso.com but with pass-through authentication
    And the following Windows 7 PCs:
    internalclient.contoso.com
    externalclient.fabrikam.com
    There's no trust between the domains, the external client is completely separate on the internet but the CA certificate for contoso.com has been installed in the trusted Root CA store. All servers have certificates for secure RDP.
    I enrolled for a custom 'Smart Card Authentication' certificate with Client Authentication and Smart Card Logon EKUs from the CA, stored on my new Gemalto smart card using the Microsoft Base Smart Card CSP.
    From internalclient.contoso.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
    using the smart card just fine with no certificate errors.
    From externalclient.fabrikam.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
    via rdsgateway.contoso.com using a username and password just fine with no certificate errors.
    From externalclient.fabrikam.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
    via rdsgateway.contoso.com using the smart card to authenticate to the gateway, and a username and password to authenticate to the end server, just fine.
    BUT from when using a smart card to authenticate to the end server via the gateway, it fails with:
         The specified user name does not exist. Verify the username and try logging in again. If the problem continues, contact your system administrator or technical support.
    When I move the client into the internal network and try the connection again (still via the RDS Gateway), it works fine - the only thing I can think of is being outside the network and not being able to contact the AD DS DC for Kerberos is causing the issue
    - but I'm pretty sure this is a supported scenario?
    The smart card works fine internally, the subject of the certificate is the user's common name (John Smith) and the only SAN is
    [email protected] which matches the UPN of the user account as it was auto-enrolled.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    I had a similar issue where I am using a smart card through a Remote Desktop Gateway. I had to disable Network Level Authentication (NLA) on the destination Remote Desktop Server. If anyone has another way around this, I'd appreciate hearing it. I'd prefer
    to use NLA.

  • [SOLVED] PowerDNS (pdns) - SQLite database '...' does not exist yet

    PowerDNS 3.2-5 is having some issues connecting to my backend database (sqlite3).

    Enter ".help" for instructions
    Enter SQL statements terminated with a ";"
    sqlite> select * from domains;

    sqlite3 It fetches the records and domains to my liking but not PowerDNS.
    Same thing goes for a blank db without any domains or records, i can query it but not PowerDNS.
    Followed this guide in order to setup the proper tables and columns: http://doc.powerdns.com/html/gsqlite.html#idp9379264
    (without the DNSSEC part, i'll give that a go later on)
    It obviously loads the sqlite3 module, and tries to connect to the backend, which doesn't work, so the ArchLinux package is fine i'm guessing.
    More info:
    * Link to package: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … 6_64/pdns/
    * chmod == 777
    * chown == nobody:nobody (and tried root:root as default)
    * running as root (not pdns)

    Solved it.
    The guides are vague in this regard but once you've just read the config twice you'll understand the logic.
    First of all, no absolute paths for sqlite3, it should be:
    launch=gsqlite3
    gsqlite3-database=database.sqlite
    Secondly, find your chroot, and point it to your database location or put your database here (whichever):
    chroot=/var/empty
    The folder structure should be:
    /var/empty/database.sqlite
    And this py pointing to ./database.sqlite when starting sqlite3 in pdns, it should be able to lock on to the database.
    Peachy!
