Mkv movies 1080p using CPU 99-100%

Hello,
I have ThinkPad T60 with Windows 7 Ultimate (T2500, 4GB RAM, ATI X1400, HDD 500GB 7200), and when I play movies in mkv format ex. Avatar 1080p X264, my CPU using is 100%.
Is any setting/switch can I use graphic for decoding ??
This is specyfic of my video card
High performance programmable video processor
Accelerated MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV9, VC-1, and H.264 decoding and transcoding
DXVA support

  • Is it possible to smoothly play 1080p MKV movie files via Apple TV?

    I want to play 1080p mkv movies stored in my iPad Air on TV.
    Is Apple TV capable to smoothly play such a video file? Or would you suggest a HDMI-Ligthning adapter?
    Has any of you used any app for this purpose? Does Avplayer HD do this job? Or which app would you suggest for this? App should support subtitle files.

    AppleTV cannot play MKV files.
    If you have an app that can Airplay an MKV file be aware that the app will be decoding the MKV locally and then recompressing to either an h264 stream or compressing the iPad screen display and sending via Airplay - either way quality will suffer.

  • CPU runs 100% when logging with DAQmx using card 6229

    Hi!
    When I start a logging using DAQmx Analog Input  the computer CPU runs 100%. This causes the problem that the computer locks and the subsequent steps in the program are left without computer CPU recourse. After the logging is compleet, 1750 samples/10 channels at 250Hz, the program runs on, but the loggfile is at that point useles.
    I have instaled LV 7.1.1 and am using DAQ 7.4.
    Anyone that recognizes this problem?

  • Green Screen using AVC-Intra 100 ugly

    Been using the hpx300 for approx two months mostly in 720p with great results. Just wraped our first true HD green screen shoot using avc-intra 100 at 24p with the intent of producing a white background mac-ad type, 5 min talking head corporate piece in SD. I had the camera mounted at 90 degrees to capture the 1920 pixels of subjects head-to-toe so I could then manipulate individual zoom and placement in post within a SD timeline. I've got two issues: one is that the images in post seem noisy, and any movement, as in subjects walking across screen, is a total mess - I say seem because all recording and playback on location looked just fine on a 1920x1200 monitor via blackmagic i/o box. I normally do basic editing in premiere with much help from AE for composting and color correction etc. Keylight has always worked great in the past. I must have something wrong with settings in the avc-intra HD content? Secondly, workflow is a bit convoluted... Keylight doesn’t apply in premiere, and AE doesnt do avc-intra. The workaround is to export avc-intra premiere timeline to AE and key that.  In theory it should work just fine, but again my images are just noisy. Could this PR to AE workflow degrade image quality?  Any suggestion greatly appreciated! Thanks, Matt

    Poster must be busy shooting more stuff....

    IS HD REALLY HD- GREENSCREEN ISSUES
    These plates were all shot with an HVX-200, mostly with the 100 MBps DVCPROHD codec. This was good enough for us for Visual Effects For Directors because we had specific needs, but we don't consider them good enough for full film production.
    Here's why:
    COLOR SAMPLING: We      prefer all green screen to be 4:4:4, so every pixel has a unique color.      4:2:2 only updates the color every second pixel, but green screen      desperately depends on a sharp, accurate, scientific color transition.      With 4:2:2, you're operating in half resolution. But if you downsize, like      we downsized to 720x480, you're at full resolution again. So because we're      delivering in SD, the plates are 4:4:4 for us. They'll just be 4:2:2 for      you if you're delivering for an HD movie.
    PIXEL ASPECT: When      a camera is listed as 1920x1080 HD, that's really stretching the truth.      You'll see that all our plates are in 1280x1080, which is the original      camera resolution, meaning that the plate has to be stretched 150% on the      X-axis to be in the right aspect. In other words, you're only operating at      66% resolution on the X-axis. Did someone say "smearing"?
    NOT EVEN 4:2:2: By      the time 1280 has been stretched to 1920 to make up for the 1.5:1 pixel      aspect ratio, 4:2:2 has been stretched out too, basically becoming      4:1.5:1.5
    LENS RESOLUTION: Nobody      besides DPs really thinks about the fact that a lens has a resolution.      Zoom lenses are made of many lens elements in a clever configuration, and      each element introduces some blur. That's why top-notch DPs like to use      prime-lenses cut from diamonds from King Solomon's mines, because if the      lens limits the resolution, it doesn't really matter how well you record      the signal after that. Some people have come to the conclusion that the      HVX-200 is really a 720p camera, because the 1080p resolution doesn't      really come through. We tend to agree, but we don't want to start a      religious war, and will say that it's just our personal experience. On top      of that, we've used a $500 wide-angle adapter on some shots, which really      butchers the pixel resolution, so even though we're recording at 1080p,      we're really not. But 1080p allowed us to record with the 100 MBps      DVCPROHD codec, which meant that we still got a very respectable resized      SD signal out of it.
    BAYER PATTERN: Most      cameras use a Bayer pattern on the chip, so that every pixel is EITHER      Red, Green, or Blue — but not at the same time. A full Red-Green-Blue      pixel is derived mathematically by interpolation. It's no wonder that some      organisations are starting to call for an objective standard for what      really constitutes a pixel, because a Bayer pixel is definitely not a real      pixel — more like half a pixel. By the way, there are twice as many Green      pixels than Red or Blue in a Bayer sensor, so you're far better off using      green screen than blue screen on video.
    HALO: Even      with the internal sharpness generator completely disabled, the HVX-200 has      a clear black fringe several pixels wide on the right side of actors on      green screen. Panasonic vehemently denies it, but it's very easy to see.      In this      picture, notice that white areas get a fringe, but darker areas, like      her legs or hair, don't. Panasonic's explanation has been that it's just a      shadow from the lighting (huh?), but the halo is on the KEY side — so the      only plausible explanation is a quantum singularity localized to the actor      which bends light as it passes by her body. We think it comes from the      Bayer pattern, but we're not sure. And Panasonic shouldn't feel bad. A Nikon      D80 does it too.
    HEAVY COMPRESSION: Even      though it seems like a lot that we're recording at 100 MBps in the      DVCPROHD codec, if you calculate the bit-rate per true output-pixel, we're      actually still compressing at a whopping 15:1.
    NOISE: Video      cameras in this price range tend to have rather high noise, and on top of      that, they're usually 8 bits per color channel. This can result in some      highly visible shadow noise that almost pixellates when the brightness is      just on the edge of a bit-threshold. You can see some of our plates doing      this.
    An HVX-200 and all its brothers and sisters in its price range simply don't have the horsepower for full pixel, high dynamic range, high resolution, uncompressed production that you need to do truly professional green screen. Green screen is ultimately a scientific process, and is one of the most demanding things you can do with your camera. Regular live-action images are MUCH easier for your camera to handle, so for regular filmmaking, your camera is fine, don't feel bad.
    We have nothing against the HVX-200 or its brothers or sisters — come on, we shot a whole DVD set about visual effects on it — but it's important to really understand what the limitations are. It's fine to own your own camera for regular filming. For green screen, you should consider renting the very best you can afford — and make every decision right, which is where we come in.
    Thanks for reading!

  • Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0 CPU hit 100% on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit Hyper-V

    Oracle Environment Detail:
    Oracle Database Enterprise Edition :11.2.0.1.0 (NON RAC, No failsafe)
    O/S:     Windows 2008 R2 64 bit (6.1)
    Specifics: Virtual Server using Hyper-V
    Memory: 9 GB RAM
    Processor: E5540
    Specific about the issue:
    I have two database instance created on this server with ‘memory_target=3600M’ each.
    I am getting into an issue where I find NO activity on database except regular schedule job running using DBMS_SCHEDULER –
    •     Database FULL export DAILY schedule time 7 & 7:30 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 15-20 mins each)
    •     Database FULL RMAN DAILY schedule time 9 & 10 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 35-40 mins each)
    This was set up on Feb 25th 2011. Since then we have encounter CPU hit 100% TWICE in this system at around 8:30 PM (SAME TIME). Both database instance exports keep running and never finish. While RMAN schedule job has NO problem. Mostly everything runs every smoothly without any issue.
    Replicate the issue:
    I am unable to replicate this issue and do not know the cause of the issue.
    Work Around:
    Oracle services shutdown/Server reboot.
    Would anyone know about this issue? Have any information could help? This system will become production soon and want to make sure we have solution for this.
    Thanks in advance!

    I am finding that CPU hit 100% is very specific to Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp) used to take FULL database export. I understand Original Export is desupported from general use as of 11g but available for specific need.
    Have anyone faced this issue with 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp)? Please help.
    I have a need to use export utility which gives us migration options.
    Thanks!

  • CPU consumption 100%: How do I see which SQL is consuming?

    Hi,
    I need help badly with this because I cannot get my head around the problem. I have a Windows server 2003 Enterprise 64-bit running Oracle 10.2.0.3 and last night it started consuming 100% CPU. The Windows performance monitor shows 100% CPU in any case, and it was difficult to even login via remote desktop.
    It is Oracle.exe that is consuming, and there is only one database on this server. It is an Opteron 875 2.2Ghz with 8GB ram.
    I want to see which SQL statement is responsible for the CPU consumption. I know exactly which user/programapplication is using it... it is useless to kick the session because the application connects immediately again from the app. server and runs the same thing. Restarting the database also has the same effect: session reconnects and CPU goes through the roof. Customer says that they are running the same stuff as always, and app. has not been updated recently. 100 % CPU to them, means something is wrong.
    Incidently, I tried to CPU patch this database a couple of days beforehand, but there was not enough space on disk (needed 1.6GB) so opatch complained and would not continue. I simply restarted the database without having run opatch. I cannot imagine that this is the cause of this problem.
    Anyhoo...
    I have a script from Kyle Haileys web site to get the CPU for each sql_id using ash tables:
    -- (c) Kyle Hailey 2007
    col type for a10
    select * from (
    select
    ash.SQL_ID , ash.SQL_PLAN_HASH_VALUE Plan_hash, aud.name type,
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'ON CPU',1,0)) "CPU",
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'WAITING',1,0)) -
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'WAITING', decode(wait_class, 'User I/O',1,0),0)) "WAIT" ,
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'WAITING', decode(wait_class, 'User I/O',1,0),0)) "IO" ,
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'ON CPU',1,1)) "TOTAL"
    from v$active_session_history ash,
    audit_actions aud
    where SQL_ID is not NULL
    and ash.sql_opcode=aud.action
    and ash.sample_time > sysdate - &minutes /( 60*24)
    group by sql_id, SQL_PLAN_HASH_VALUE , aud.name
    order by sum(decode(session_state,'ON CPU',1,1)) desc
    ) where rownum < 10
    This give following output:
    SQL_ID PLAN_HASH TYPE CPU WAIT IO TOTAL
    cxk376gut06wn 3831248992 SELECT 12 145 5855 6012
    4ffvdt72n46yt 4094592372 SELECT 0 3 1131 1134
    dnxgm7bg8wqg1 4025412530 SELECT 3 13 337 353
    3y0dyvkc9sx69 1764840833 SELECT 18 169 56 243
    abz05715h08ct 1967470119 SELECT 0 7 175 182
    4gd6b1r53yt88 0 UNKNOWN 0 92 4 96
    9phhuzxpqwsgc 2662599208 SELECT 0 67 0 67
    275bbj5czbrwp 629013258 SELECT 0 2 64 66
    1dvrrg3aah2mu 75914095 SELECT 0 6 57 63
    My assumption is that this gives the average CPU usage over the last x minutes and the total cpu usage for this sql_id. There are no sql running that show a very high average CPU, but the total is up in 6000 for the longest running sql, so I get the statement for the top sql_id that has highest total, and it is this:
    SQL_ID cxk376gut06wn, child number 2
    SELECT NVL(MIN(ID),0) FROM TABLE_OBFUSCATED WHERE TASK = :B1 AND
    STATUS='JobQueue' AND MESSAGE_ID IS NULL
    Plan hash value: 3831248992
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | | | 3231 (100)| |
    | 1 | SORT AGGREGATE | | 1 | 42 | | |
    |* 2 | TABLE ACCESS FULL| TABLE_OBFUSCATED | 3 | 126 | 3231 (1)| 00:00:39 |
    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    2 - filter(("TASK"=:B1 AND "STATUS"='JobQueue' AND "MESSAGE_ID" IS NULL))
    It doesn't seem to fit! It's such a simple statement, but according to ash this is the sql using the most total cpu over the last 30 minutes?? So I create a temp index on the filter and check the plan for the statement again, and it uses the index, but I need to kill the session or bounce the database for the new plan to be used because the currently running session is still using the old plan. Customer was desperate to get it down so I even tried flushing the shared pool but new plan does not get used. I did not want to restart the database. Do I have to kill all sessions using that plan for the new one to take effect?
    Now im stuck. I don't really know how else to get an accurate picture of which sql is currently consuming CPU. I need to know this to try to fix the SQL because stopping the application is not an option, even if it is throwing too much at the database. The only other option I can think of is setting up profile limits for cpu consumption in oracle, but then the job will likely take an unacceptable amount of time for the customer.
    So my questions are:
    1. How else can I check which SQL is using CPU accurately?
    2. Does the SQL I show above accuratlely display current average CPU over x minutes with ASH? Why is it so low for the top consumer but my CPU is still at 100% on the OS?
    Thankyou for your help.

    Yeah, OK, I can see an arbitary number for CPU used since session startup (what does that refer to by the way? It can't be percent), and I can see that one user has consumed massive amounts of CPU compared to all other sessions, but he is currently not running anything, so how can I see which SQL he ran in the past day that cuased all that CPU consumption? Can I do this without AWR?
    By the way, do you need a Diagnostic Pack license for simply viewing the Performance tab of dbconsole? I Can go into dbconsole and see history for 2 days back and see the massive espike that caused CPU consumption, but when dbconsole displays the list of top SQL and top sessions under the graph, is it the top listed SQL that consumed the most cpu or do you need to correlate the colours, i.e. find the SQL listed in top SQL that has the same colour as CPU usage on the graph (green) even if it is not listed as the top "consumer" (which I assume means top AAS consumer: overall consumption of all resources)?

  • How to get correctly the percent of used CPU per process

    I'm trying to get the percent of used CPU per process on windows with Qt/C++. Firstly i get a list of running processes and after, for each process i try to get the used CPU, for most process the result looks valid (they match with task manager in windows), but with the AIDA64 process (that is running a CPU stress test in background), i got strange values like 312% what is wrong with my c++ code?

            int status1 = sigar_proc_cpu_get(sigarproclist, proclist.data[i], &cpu);
            if (status1 == SIGAR_OK)
                Sleep(50);
                int status2 = sigar_proc_cpu_get(sigarproclist, proclist.data[i], &cpu);
                if (status2 == SIGAR_OK)
                    sigar_proc_state_t procstate;
                    sigar_proc_state_get(sigarproclist, proclist.data[i], &procstate);
                    qDebug() << procstate.name << cpu.percent * 100 << "%";
        sigar_close(sigarproclist);

    You may need to scale (divide) by the number of cores.  This is the code sigar is using on windows to get the process cpu:
    SIGAR_DECLARE(int) sigar_proc_time_get(sigar_t *sigar, sigar_pid_t pid,
                                           sigar_proc_time_t *proctime)
        HANDLE proc = open_process(pid);
        FILETIME start_time, exit_time, system_time, user_time;
        int status = ERROR_SUCCESS;
        if (!proc) {
            return GetLastError();
        if (!GetProcessTimes(proc,
                             &start_time, &exit_time,
                             &system_time, &user_time))
            status = GetLastError();
        CloseHandle(proc);
        if (status != ERROR_SUCCESS) {
            return status;
        if (start_time.dwHighDateTime) {
            proctime->start_time =
                sigar_FileTimeToTime(&start_time) / 1000;
        else {
            proctime->start_time = 0;
        proctime->user = FILETIME2MSEC(user_time);
        proctime->sys  = FILETIME2MSEC(system_time);
        proctime->total = proctime->user + proctime->sys;
        return SIGAR_OK;
    The windows api doc indicates that the time here is a sum over all threads and thus will need to be scaled by number of cores.
    We had to do something like this in our use of the Java bindings of the 1.6.4 release of SIGAR.  I'm curious to know if this works for you.
    Best,
    Vishal

  • My MacBook Pro gets very slow while doing  work like watching movies and using net .. video gets lag very often

    My MacBook Pro gets very slow while doing  work like watching movies and using net .. video gets lag very often and while surffing on net it gets very slow ...

    First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
    If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
    Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
    Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
    Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
    Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
    Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
    Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
    Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
    Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
    If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
    Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Evenlog viewing causes CPU usage 100% on Windows server 2008 SP2

    We have Windows server 2008 SP2 with strange behaviour. When I scroll down events in eventlog viewer CPU usage hits 100% and eventlog viewer freeze. CPU usage is split between 2 processes SVCHOST.EXE (lmhosts, eventlog and Dhcp services) and MMC.EXE.
    1)I tried to replace eventlog files with new ones. That didn’t helped
    2)After server clean boot problem still exist.
    3)When CPU hits 100% usage process explorer shows that from SVCHOST.EXE process CPU is used by service EventLog.
    Any ideas how to fix this?

    Hi Santosh
    I re-installed VMware
    tools and also configured VMXNET 3 - nothing changed :(
    Sorry to hear that.
    Windows event log service has couple of dependencies i.e. task scheduler and windows event collector service. Can try restrating those services ?
    In addition to above, try following steps
    Change NTFS permission of  %WINDIR%\System32\WinEvt\Logs directory, add Local Service and
    Network Service, give them FULL permissions.
    Stop and Start event viewer service by running following command
    net stop eventlog && net start eventlog
    Issues like this might occur if the disk (FC or iSCSI SAN or even NAS) has some inconsistencies , this is true in case of both physical and virtual machines
    You might want to try running chkdisk as well on the server in question

  • Flash player 11 is very glitchy on ALL browsers and makes my CPU usage 100%,Streaming media headache

    flash player 11 is very glitchy on ALL browsers and makes my CPU usage 100%, making all youtube and pandora or any streaming media a headache, i have a low-end but good quality Emachine with Windows 7 Sv pk. 1, AMD Athalon Processor 2650e 1.6 GHz 2GB ram 32-bit, which isn't that bad, it used to play HD videos and everything without a skip or lag, it is virus clean, and clean of any large bulky programs, the only thing that went wrong was the fact that the adobe flash updates slowly but surely made it worse, AND it will not let me roll-back to an older version anymore like it used to, so WTF is up? no one seems to have an answer for this, and it seems like ADOBE is doing everything in it's power to not let me ask this question or get it solved, maybe it's because I AM TOO SMART FOR IT AND KNOW IT'S A FAILURE. so please, anyone who actually has a degree in this field is welcome, but no BS anymore, i want answers.

    The jump to FP11 was pretty significant with Stage3D. Now Flash Player has a lower level access to your computers GPU to offload playing video and 3d rendering to the GPU. However if your systems GPU isn't up to the task you really won't see that performance gain.
    Enter H264 video decoding. A large segment of the Flash usage market is simply viewing video. For sites without fallback in mind (or don't mind software rendering fallback), video may suffer. Using the GPU accelerated video classes may make it difficult for your system to view playback. Disabling hardware acceleration as recommended above would revert you back to software (CPU) decoding to check if your system itself is the issue (and not all the new GPU additions). You did that yet you're still having an issue.
    Just to clarify, as I have an eMachine (for accounting), your computer is very much in the "budget" margin. You have a 3 year old single core 1.6ghz AM2 CPU with 512kb of L2. That's the K8 series. This is a very underpowered, single thread loving CPU. Only the most optimized Flash sites and lower end videos (720p or below) should play, but I'm not even sure if they'll "play well". It depends on your GPU.
    Also you should know they have an official list of unsupported chipsets and drivers based on many factors. Here's a list for FP11 and AIR3:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/stage3d-unsupported-chipsets-drivers-flash.html
    Check the bottom of the screen to see what Flash is reporting your rendering mode is. For example, mine states:
    Your gpu supports Stage3D in both Baseline and Constrained profile!
    Baseline RenderMode:
    DirectX9
    Constrained RenderMode:
    DirectX9 (Baseline Constrained)
    This probably won't get better in the future for you. Flash is not a low end multimedia runtime. It does require and utilize high end hardware in a much more reliable way.

  • Problem - Playing media stops when CPU reaches 100%

    Hi,
    I have a big problem, I use JMF for playing my videos and music for my video game.
    But if the CPU reaches 100 % the playing media stops and if the Processor is in the state less as 100% it continues playing.
    But windows media player continues playing for some seconds after reaching 100%.
    Would it help to increase the Buffer with BufferControl or is this a problem for Java?

    You can't really compare JMF to the windows media player because your java app is undoubtedly doing other things at the same time as it's playing your music and videos. Win media player just has to worry about playing the video/music

  • X200 CPU reaches 100 celsius degrees. is this normal?

    I'm using LenovoThinkVantage Toolbox to do a CPU stress test and and the same time I'm running TPFanControl to monitor the speed of the fan and the temperature of the CPU.
    When I run the CPU stress test the temperature of the CPU reaches 100 degrees celcius with the fan going at 7000rpms which all of it sounds excessive and not right to me. Is this normal? or there is something wrong with my system.
    Thanks in advance

    100C is around the maximum the CPU can deal with before sustaining damage.  Even then, running at that temperature for extended periods of time is most certainly going to be problematic.
    I can't imagine it was designed to be run that way, so I'm guessing there's a problem.  Maybe a heatsink is not seated properly, or something is obstructing airflow.  Either way, I'd say that if you're under warranty it's worth having the depot take a look.

  • TMG Microsoft Firewall Service Process (wspsrv.exe) high CPU. CPU Usage 100%

    TMG Microsoft Firewall Service Process (wspsrv.exe) high CPU.
    CPU Usage 100%
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Since there can be multiple reasons for this issue, you can
    capture a manual dump of the wspsrv.exe process on TMG server or find some related logs to better analyze this issue firstly.
    In addition, what have you done before you encountered that issue?
    If you have any third-party programs installed, you can temporary disable them and restart the firewall service to see if the issue persists.
    For more detailed information, please refer to the links below:
