ML mail.app email addresses overlapping?

Hi,
I recently upgraded to ML and so far, I have only noticed this one small problem.  In Mail.app, when viewing a message, the email addresses in the headers sometimes display overlapping one another.  In the image below, I have intentionally blurred a couple of email addresses for privacy reasons.
My problem is concerning the overlapping text.  It appears that the line starting "Peter,..." is errantly wrapping to the next line and overlapping with the text that should be on the next line.  I know that the "...Corporate, Consultant)..." should be part of the "Peter,..." line.
The issue is sporadic and does not happen to all messages.  Any ideas on why this could be happening?  Perhaps a bug?
Thanks,
Matthew

  • IOS8: Mail app Email Address changes in ActiveSync Account information

    Hello all!
I manage an Exchange 2010 mail system for my company, with approximately 500 mobile devices, a majority of which are iOS using ActiveSync.
Since the upgrade to iOS8, I've seen an issue in the account information for Mail app where after some time (maybe a few days) the Email address (the primary SMTP address) gets changed to the userPrincipalName (UPN) account name from Active Directory.  These are different from each other.  For our organization (and I'm sure for many others) this is a problem that comes up when the user wants to "Reply to All," the device sends the message back to the user since it thinks the UPN is a different address/account than the SMTP address.
This only came about after the upgrade to iOS8 (also apparent in 8.1) and is affecting all devices.  I can change the address to the proper primary SMTP address but it will change back to the UPN after a few days.  I'm assuming it is getting the UPN from Exchange Auto Discover, but again this didn't happen previous to iOS8 and is not affecting any other devices using ActiveSync to receive mail.
    Thank you for your help!

The problem is actually not in the capitalization of the address itself, but in the prefix of the mailbox e-mail addresses.
For example, you might have these e-mail addresses configured for a mailbox:
    SMTP: [email protected]
    smtp: [email protected]
    SIP:[email protected]
...the correct e-mail address for the account is obviously the first one in this list.  But in the configuration for this example, Exchange is sending both the "SMTP" and "SIP" as primary e-mail addresses, and iOS is displaying the SIP address, which is incorrect.
I tested this workaround and it works.  Either remove the other addresses with a capitalized prefix, or change them to "sip:[email protected]" (to match your naming convention)
    Hope this helps.

  • Mail.App eMail Settings for OS X Mavericks

Having recently experinced several issues with the Mail App using outllook.com eMail accounts, I became frustrated after attempting the many different types of server settings suggestions foating around online, none of which seemed to fix the problem, in fact one particular server setting suggestion for the "Incoming server" (s.outlook.com) caused the Mail App to crashj on several ocassions.
Prior to installing this update, it is rocommened to back up your date.
    1) Open the Mail App then select Mail--Preferences--then once the box opens, select the Blue @ icon for account information.
    2) Select the last oprion
    "Add other mail account"
    3) Select the IMAP option and input your details, Name, email address and password.
    4) INCOMING MAIL SERVER is
    imap-mail.outlook.com
    5) The 2 boxes, (Enable this account & Use only this server should both be ticked.
    7) OUTGIONG SERVER
    smtp.live.com
    Port : 993
    Use SSL : Ticked
    Authentication : password
Use IDLE command if the server supports it : Ticked
All other boxes should be ticked.
I have several outllook email account, both outllook.com & outlook.com.au, and they all work pefectly now.

I have exactly the same settings done automatically but sometimes I just don't recieve the email. While my iPhone have recieved it a few hours earlier, my Mac with Mavericks haven't. I, sometimes, have to put the account offline and then back online in order to get new mail. Doesn't happen always but still does and it's quite boring.

  • Automatically create iCal entry with an email alarm from a Mail.app email?

    Hi..
    Hope you can help?
I want to set up iCal/Mail.app so that it automatically creates a new iCal entry in a specific calendar when an email is received that contains a date in the body of the message...
Is there a way of doing this with Automator?
This reason I am asking is that I am trying to put a link on my online store where people can click for a gift reminder email that will be sent to them on a date they specify in the body of their email.
The link could pop-up a new email window pre-filled with Subject: 'Gift Reminder' and addressed to '[email protected]' They would be instructed to enter a single date in the text area and press Send...
Then, when Mail.app receives the email, it would move it to a Folder called 'Gift Reminders' and automatically set up a new iCal entry that has an alarm to email the sender on that date with an email containing the Subject 'The Gift Reminder you Requested' etc and some different text in the body... It would be great if this could be set up to repeat annually also as the gift reminder is primarily for birthday gifts...
Id there an Automator script / plug-in or way of making this happen??
Any help greatly appreciated, though my knowledge of scripts / Automator etc is quite limited I am willing to try out any suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Jon.

Tried a restart which showed 2183 emails unable to move which is kind of bonkers and had to quit Mail> restart and moving emails from search now appears to be working. Apple owes me about 500 hours of my life so far with Mavericks!

  • Mail.app: 'Remove Address' does NOT Remove Address

    Hello,
    I am using OS X (10.9.5) running Mail.app (7.3 (1878.6)).
When I reply-all to an email with multiple recipients in the CC line, if I right-click and 'Remove Address', it removes the address from the CC: line, and appears that the message will not go to this recipient.
When I check my 'Sent' folder for this outbound message, I can see that all recipients that I removed by right-click > 'Remove Address' actually received the message that was not addressed to them.
I can readily duplicate this failure with test email addresses.
This is a critical defect.  Mail should not be delivered to unexpected recipients.  Mail should SPECIFICALLY not be delivered to recipients that have been explicitly removed from any of the address fields.  If the Remove Address feature does not work, perhaps remove it from the right-click options.
    Please fix this.
I am aware of a workaround to use the 'Delete' key to remove addresses.  I will use that in the future.
This violates the principle of least surprise in one of the worst possible ways.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • When I type in the email address I want to send an email to, mail suggests email addresses i never use

I am using Apple's Mail application on my MacBook Pro for 3 emails. One personal, one for my work place and one for my university email address. From the university I receive lots of emails which isn't sent only for me, but every student on my course, so I am not the only receiver.
When I am sending an email, from any of my email addresses and I type in whom I want to send it to, it shows a bunch of email addresses that I have never sent an email to. They are all university email addresses and I want to get rid of them, but they are not in my address book and I have no clue how to delete them / where to find them.
For example: I wanted to send an email from my work place email to James Fox. He's email is [email protected] (just an example). When I start to type in James.f,   about 100 email addresses pop up, but none of them is the one I need and I will never need those and I CANT GET RID OF THEM.
Please help me, how to get rid of all these unwan

How is the university account added to your system? (You should be able to find it in either System Preferences - Internet Accounts, or Mail - Preferences). Is it an Exchange account, perhaps? I wonder if you're seeing a centralized contact group that can't be controlled from your computer (but you may be able to turn it off completely).

  • Mail Program, email address hyperlink

I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard but had same problem in Leopard. In mail when I type an email address in the body of the message it does not appear as a hyperlink [in blue and underlined]. Is there a way that I can activate that feature?

Hi newbee 59: I just experimented with the issue. Although it doesn't show up as an underlined link during the composing process. An email will have the address show up as a Clickable link in the email at the received end.
    Hope this helps

  • Why can't Mail access email addresses from Contacts?

So, here is a typical scenario: I have an email to write to a friend of mine. Being a close friend of mine, his email address is saved in Contacts. I boot up Apple Mail, and create a new email. So far so good. I start typing my friend's name into the "To:" field, but nothing comes up in the auto-search. I remember how his email starts, so I start typing his email in, but once again, nothing comes up. I boot up Contacts, just to be sure, and his email is in there. Finally I copy and paste it into Mail.
WHAT THE ****??? AM I MISSING SOMETHING??
I know that I can look up Contacts from within Mail, but that's not what I'm looking for. I want Mail to automatically start search through my Contacts whenever I start typing into the To: field. But instead, it only searches through my previous recipients? I've also noticed that it doesn't pull up email addresses that were CC'd on emails I've recieved. In order to find those, I have to do a Spotlight search in Mail (which immediately finds the email address and even identifies it as a person), and then copy and paste it from Mail into Mail.
Am I missing some setting? When did the automatic search in the To: field become useless? Did I go into a coma and wake up in a world where Apple hates a positive user experience? Which OS update killed this functionality and why?
Really, any light on the subject or work-arounds would be appreciated. I've tried Postbox, and while the To: search works sensibly there, the program is slow as molassas. It is as awful to use as Mail, just in different ways. I'd switch to browser based email, but I have three addresses, and Gmail only imports POP accounts, one of mine is IMAP only . . . honestly, I'm to the point where I want to just stop using email all together. I have other complaints, but this is the most inexplicable and annoying.
Maybe I'll invest in carrier pidgeons.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Mail.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

  • Workflow send mail to email addresses

    Hi,
I have created a workflow wherein i have insrted a user decision node and 2 output is there one is accept and another one reject.
I have added send mail node on both accept and reject and the thing is that in recipient address is put as email address. The email address that i put is for accept is workflow inititor and for reject is my own gmail address.
Now when i execute workflow and click on accept button and check workflow log i get details for step where i found that background work item is created and agent name. Why is it so and where i can get the result ? and when i click on agent in that there is pushbutton for communication where there is no email address is maintained how can i maintain it ?
Please help me out..even for reject tab i have given  my own gmail address. What will happen if i click on reject tab?
    Thanks
    Parag

    Hi,
In your case what will happen is:--
1> when you recieve the workitem in the sap inbox and you click on it.....it will show decision buttoons.
2> As you have put send mail task in both accept & rejevt branch ...it should trigger mail based on your
action and send it to extenal mail id.
3> Now if you click on accept button ....... and the mail task which you have inserted will trigger mail to
         id which you have maintained.
4> When you click on the reject button............ it will send mail to id which you have maintained in
         task.
5> If u you have set mail id to sap id of user then you can see it in Tcode SBWP.If you are sending mail
to external mail id( outlook, gmail etc)........it will be visible in your external mail inbox if SCOT
configuration are properly set in your system for SMTP node. You can still see the external mail in
         sap system in Tcode SOSG.

  • Trying to SEND in Mail from email addresses not from my ISP verizon

I have Verizon fiber optic. All is okay except, I can't SEND from Apple's Mail program, when I try to send from an email address that I set up elsewhere. Receiving is fine. Just sending doesn't work. Verizon tech support worked with me for 2 hours with no success. the @verizon email addresses receive AND send, just not SENDING by way of my other POP accounts, which according to my web host should work.
I thought Mail could do this. Am I wrong?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Mail, version 1.3.11

What doesn “I can't send” mean? What’s the problem exactly? What error messages do you get, if any?
In an attempt to fight spam, many ISPs restrict the ability to send using an outgoing (SMTP) server not owned by them, usually by blocking port 25 for all traffic outside their own network, which means you cannot send with an SMTP server not owned by them if configured to use that port number. And it may happen the other way around as well, i.e. the outgoing server itself may look at the IP address you’re connecting from and refuse the connection if you’re outside its own network.
Something that often works is changing the outgoing server port to 587 (or whatever alternate port number the outgoing server listens to) instead of 25 and using some form of authentication in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server > Server Settings, but two conditions must be satisfied for this change to work: (1) the ISP must not block that port as well AND (2) the outgoing server in question must listen to that port and accept a form of authentication not based on the IP address you’re connecting from.
Independent mail service providers not tied to a particular ISP, such as .Mac and Gmail, do allow authenticated SMTP access on port 587, which is the reason changing the outgoing server port number solves the problem for them if the ISP doesn’t block that port as well.
Read the following article, which applies to all versions of Mac OS X (not just Mac OS X 10.4.2 and earlier as the article states) and can be useful for other mail accounts as well (not just .Mac):
.Mac: Server timeout alert message when sending email
