MLB Extra Innings = NHL Center Ice

I'm sure this questions has been asked before, but I could not find it doing a search.  Do you receive NHL Center Ice games for free during baseball season when you subscribe to MLB Extra Innings?
We are watching the free preview and it seems that the standard definition channels (SD) are better than last year - less pixalation and freezes.   The strange thing about Extra Innings is that there are 3 games on right now on the SD channels and no games on the HD channels.  All games are telecast in HD.  You would think there would always be a game on in HD if available.
Do you contact InDemand or Verizon to subscribe to Extra Innings.  We have had so many billing problems with Verizon that I'm afraid to make any changes to our service.  It took 5 months to get our billing correct and it has been OK now for the past 4 months.
Thanks,
Doug

DCJ the MLB Extra Innings and NHL Center Ice are setup like standard Pay Per View events. For example if you called and ordered a Boxing match the Set Top Box is authorized to show the broadcast stream for the time frame and channel the boxing match is being shown. The idea is similar with MLB Extra Innings and NHL Center Ice except the authorization periods automatically activate for each game over the season without you having to order it ever time for every game. So to directly answer your question, you will not see NHL Center Ice games for free during baseball season even though they show the games on the same channels because it's only authorizing you to see the games shown at certain time intervals.
As far as ordering. It is my Understanding you can order through iN Demand or Verizon.

  • MLB Extra Innings Package - Is Anyone Minding the Store

Yesterday I tried to watch the Phillies game; it wasn't in your channel line up. Later in the day I tried to watch the Detroit Tigers; the game was available only in Standard Definition. Tonight I tried to tune in the Tigers again and got the message that the game is not available for broadcast in my area. That would be okay, except that I live in VA and the game is being played in CA. Not to mention that it was broadcast last night. Verizon should be making refunds to subscribers for this poor program management
And while I'm ranting...your programming display absolutely sucks. When you pull up the guide you can only tell that a game is being broadcast. You have to highlight each individual channel to see what game is being broadcast. This crappy display is unique to the sports programming packages. On every other channel, when you pull up the guide you can see exactly what is being broadcast . FIX THIS PROBLEM!!
And while I'm still ranting, how about also changing your format so that the HD broadcast features the home team announcers and the SD broadcast features the visiting team announcers. Some of us prefer the announcers from our favorite teams.

I'd also like to know why some games are broadcast only in SD. Tonight I am watching Detroit again and the game is not available on an HD channel. Why am I not receiving what I am paying for?
Not all games are broadcast in HD through EI. However, because MLB.TV is included this year with your EI subscription, you can watch all the games in HD through a connected device - Apple TV, Xbox, iPad, iPhone, etc.
FiOS EI and NHL Center Ice share channels, so once the NHL season concludes, there will be no conflicts and more HD games. It's also been my experience that the later starting games are the ones more likely to be available in SD only. So with the Tigers on the West Coast swing (I'm also a Tigers fan) they get shafted a bit on the HD. All their opening week homes games were in HD through EI.

  • MLB Extra Innings

I am watching the free preview of the MLB Extra Innings package and I noticed that none of the games are being broadcast in HD.  I have subscribed to this package in prior years through other carriers and many (but not all) of the games were provided in HD.
What is odd is that channels 1466 through 1474 are reserved for MLB Extra Innings broadcasts in HD but none of these channels are activated.  Only the SD channels (1475 through 1488) are being used.  My service area is suburban Philadelphia.
I am interesting in subscribing to MLB Extra Innings but I will not do so without the HD broadcasts being available to me.
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Thanks for your input.  Yes, the referenced channels are shared between MLB and the NHL.  Unfortunately all of the NHL broadcasts are in SD only as well.  There are nine channels reserved for MLB and NHL broadcasts in HD but none of them are currently being used.
It's nice that Verizon provides us with a free preview of MLB Extra Innings.  However, the preview should present exactly what I will be getting should I choose to subscribe.  I can't go on blind faith that after I officially subscribe the HD broadcasts will become available at some point in the future.

  • NHL Center Ice + NHL Gamecenter Live???

hi! I am a huge hockey fan...lots of my Canadian friends whom are on SHAW, TELUS and BELL in Canada are buying NHL Center Ice, and along with their purchase of Center Ice, they get a FREE subscription to NHL Gamecenter LIVE which is the online service provided by the NHL...you can watch games on your computer and mobile devices (iphone, ipad, PC..etc)...so, my question is, why can't we as Comcast subscribers get the same deal??....I think it would be a matter of Comcast getting the LOGINS for Gamecenter directly from the NHL....also, I sure hope Comcast will increase the number of HD channels for Center Ice this year...only 2 HD channels...I hear Directv has almost all the games in HD...kind of a joke..this is 2010! any insights? Thanks!

hey Blackhawk, i've been going 'round and 'round with Comcast about NHL Center Ice since Comcast only has TWO HD channels here in 2010.  I'm near Detroit and I paid for the package plus HD box and was excited for the season to start since i bought a new HD tv.  They have repeatedly told me "we are working on it" in terms of converting all channels to HD...this is a bunch of BS to me...what does it take? satellite tv has EVERY NHL and other sports in HD.  If i had known this before i would not have ordered Center Ice...if you look at blogs all over the internet, you will see it's up to the Cable provider to give you an HD broadcast...Comcast just chooses NOT to.  I keep insisting there is no way in *ell ALL the games are not being shown in HD by the network broadcasting the games.  We are simply not getting what we pay for...and it's very expensive at that...COME ON COMCAST, GET WITH IT!!!

  • NHL Center Ice/ Customer Service issues

This has been an ongoing issue for some time now and I'm ready to toss Verizon out the window over it. For the last few years I've been subscribing to the NHL Center Ice package. Pretty expensive.
All the games televised over multiple channels are choppy and missing frames. Very hard to watch. I call for help and they say nothing is wrong on Verizon's end. They send a repair guy. He notices the problem. Replaces all my equipment. Problem remains. He closes the ticket (after he leaves).
I call again. Ticket is closed so the process starts again. Verison wants to send another repair person. I let them come. They notice the problem, replace equipment, leave. Close the ticket. So far my set top box has been replaced 5 times. All my wiring replaced. The fiber box. The whole nine yards. Problem remains.
I called yesterday again (season just started) and I bet you can guess what they wanted to do. I'm at my wits end. All my other channels are fine. I talked to a manager at a FIOS store and he says well it's obvious the signal strength of that channel range is weak in your area. Easy to fix. I tell that to the techs on the phone and I get absolutely no help. As I see it I have a responsibilty to pay for the service and Verizon has the responsibility to fix my issues. Though they admit to seeing a problem they refuse to fix it. Any suggestions?

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". • How do I cancel NHL Center Ice Subscription?

If you were signed up for NHL Center ICe last year, they are automatically renewing you for this year unless you opt out.  Well I haven't been able to opt out.  Does anyone know how to do this?
I tried talking to 2 different customer service representatives.  The first guy said he will do it as soon as we upgrade my plan because my old plan doesn;t exist anymore.  Then after we did that, he said he couldn't help me and had to transfer me.  THe next person refused to even look at my account because I didn;t have my account number, amount of last bill and 5 other things.  I asked her why the first guy didnt ask and she never responded then the chat window closed on me.
SO could someone please tell me how to do this because Verizon employees are **bleep** worthless.

Yes, that's where the directions say to go and where the reps tried to walk me thlrough, but the links they told me to click on weren't there.  They were clearly reading off a script because they were giving me word for word the same directions in the original e-mail, and those links are not there.

  • MLB Extra Innings and FiOS

If you are a fan of the MLB Extra Innings package, the only place you will find complete satisfaction is with DirecTV.  After several hours of talking and chatting with Verizon reps, the company line is: the package they buy is from "In Demand", just like most other providers.  So, if you subscribe to the package (with FiOS) it is what it is ... pathetic.  Apparently only DirecTV deals directly with MLB.  So if you want 30 channels of games that include "home" and "away" feeds for most games as well as nearly all of them in HD, and be able to see the schedule on both your on-screen guide as well as their web site, then switch to DirecTV.  Me ... I have to wait 23 more months until my agreement expires.

I spent two hours with customer service and technical support.   Customer service also spoke directly with technical support to find out that the package STARTS tomorrow - and does not include spring training games.   Customer service says the contract terms with OnDemand changed since last year - but were unable to articulate the terms to me.
I don't understand how a service provider's customer service and sales folks are unable to explain the precise terms for the services they offer and that it required a technician to explain when the MLB programming airs.
Go here to find the schedule of games (No - verizon did not provide this for me - I had to find it myself)

  • MLB Extra Innings - why are all games not in high definition?

We just switched from DIRECTV to Xfinity and are dismayed that many MLB Extra Innings games are not broadcast in High Def. Heck, the main reason we got an HDTV was to watch the baseball games and now, with Comcast, so many are poorer quality non-HD. DIRECTV had them in High Def, so we know its available. When will Comcast/Xfinity start broadcasting ALL of these subscription games in HD?

    lawnguru wrote:
Do you have the correct settings on the box? I had to change some on mine. Have you selected the correct channel?
Comcast rebroadcasts the signal. They can't make it HD if it doesn't come that way!
I would be very surprised if some are SD, while others are HD, but I could be wrong.I have 2 extra innings channels in HD, but 12 in SD...

  • NHL Center Ice Payments

I hope I put this in the right blog.
I have subscribed to NHL Center Ice for many years on a different cable system. We were always allowed to spread the payments over four months. Verizon for some reason wants the payment spread over three months. DirectTV, Charter Cable, and Cox Cable allow four months. If you go on the IN Demand website it says the payments are spread over four months.
When I call Verizon no one can explain to me why its that way only with them..."That's what it is"
    What gives Verizon?

    Fred-
For some reason VZ seems to have trouble with split billing. I went through the same thing last year, only in the end to be told - "we can't offer you the multi-payment option".
I bit the bullet and just paid it. Not sure if that still holds true this year.

  • NHL Center Ice ch#5 (1479)

Has anyone been having trouble watching games on NHL5 of the center ice package?  On 11/01/09 the San Jose vs Carolina game didn't appear on the screen.  The channel was there, just the programming schedule for NHLci. It couldn't have been blocked out in my area (Indiana).  I contacted tech support. After an hour of getting nowhere, they finally determined that there may have been an issue with the feed from the broadcasting network.  Consequently, I missed the entire game.  Tonight I tuned to the same channel and low in behold that game EDM vs NYI was missing, too.  Not that I wanted to watch this game, but when you pay $163 for a package, you should be able the games!!!!!  I contacted tech support this time via email....didn't want to spend an hour on the phone resetting my boxes.....like that will help!!!!
So, is anyone else having problems with NHL center ice channel 5?

    ncacia,
NHL Ice is not available in Mercer county due to blackout restrictions per the NHL. Our apologies

  • NHL Center Ice - HD

Looks like FIOS only has one HD channel for Center Ice.  Is that right?  We switched from Directv recently - only because FIOS now had hockey package.  On Directv, multiple games were in HD.

Just wanted to make my voice heard on the one HD channel on the NHL Center Ice.  I understand what a previous posters says about getting the feed from iNDemand and them only having one feed per sport. Still makes me unhappy.
I got the Center Ice package to watch a lot of hockey, not just my favorite team.  I would like to see them start to broadcast multiple HD channels.  I saw a listing for a game on NHL6/HD2 for the first time tonight, and when I switched to it, it was in standard definition.  Maybe this is something they are rolling out now. *shrugs*
All this being said, if there is not at least one more HD feed for Center Ice next year, I will not renew. I can see my Bruins play all the time on NESN, but as an avid hockey fan, I like to see many other games and I am not watching SD on my beautiful TV.
I hope these forums are at least looked at by Verizon. I plan on at least sending a letter to them, a phone call, and an email.  I am hesitant to believe it will do good, but at least I will know I did what I could before next season.
inDemand does now have 2 HD feeds. Verizon, at this time, does not carry the 2nd HD feed.
As a fellow hockey fan, I feel you pain. I can not watch hockey in SD for long, especially on the inDemand feeds.

  • MLB Extra Innings not showing games

Since Monday, the games on the MLB Extra Innings channels are not displaying on any of my cable boxes. All other channels work fine. The screen says that the channel should be available shortly, and references code S0a00.  I worked with an Xfinity representative last night and we could not solve the problem.  I have a tech coming out later this week, but it seems to be a programming issue, not a hardware issue.  Any thoughts?

S0A00 is usually a RF signal issue to the boxes.  It can be an outside issue and can only affect some of your channels.
Getting at tech out is the proper thing to do, if it starts working, don't cancel the appointment.
    More in this issue here.

  • MLB Extra innings HD local blackouts not lifted after game is over

After the local broadcast is finished, the blackout should disappear. However, it doesn't. I patiently waited four days, till I submitted a ticket and after two days it was finally removed. Then last night, on another channel, the blackout again stayed after the game, and is still on today, and blocking the game being broadcast.
This only happens on HD channels. The blackouts on SD channels turn on for the game and turn off afterwards.
Also, most of the local games on the HD side have not been blacked out, so it hasn't become a huge issue till now. In fact today, there are two HD (away and home) broadcasts for my local team, and they not blacked out. I guess I should be glad, as then I would have 3 channels blacked out!
By black out, I mean the InDemand logo and message about the blackout is shown. So I am getting the channel OK.
This problem did not occur for the first two weeks of the season, as I never had a channel blacked out when it wasn't supposed to be. Although, it might have been a function, that the local HD MLB extra inning broadcasts were not blacked out on the HD channels (not that I cared, that is why I bought the package, to watch other teams).
Has anyone else run into this problem.Hard to believe that only my zipcode is having the issue, but if no one else is, than that is more information on the problem.

It keeps happening. Is anyone from Verizon looking at this site at all?
I am lucky that not all the local games are blacked out on HD MLB extra innings. Monday, there were two broadcasts, home and away, and not blacked out, so at least I could watch the games that followed on the channels.
Tonight the 7pm slot on 1466 was blacked out, like it should, but then it did not disappear after the game, and now the following game is blacked out.
THe SD channels are blacked out and then release after the game is over.
    Please FIX the problem!!!!!!

  • MLB EXTRA INNINGS PACKAGE HELP

HAVING JUST SWITCHED TO VERIZON FIOS TV I WANTED TO ALSO HAVE MLB EXTRA INNINGS ON VERIZON AS I DID ON DIRECT TV..
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY VERIZON HAS ONLY 2 OR 3 GAMES DAILY ON HI DEF WHILE DIRECT HAD ALL OF THE SAME GAMES ON HI-DEF..
ALSO VERIZON HAS NO PRE AND POST GAME PROGRAMMING FOR ANY OF THE GAMES...WHILE DIRECT TV HAD THIS FOR EACH GAME..
ALSO DIRECT TV HAS A SINGLE CHANNEL WITH 8 GAMES SHOWN ON SMALLER SCENES WHICH EACH EACH GAME CAN INDIVIDUALLY BE ACCESSED EITHER TO HEAR THAT GAMES ANNOUNCERS OR BE ABLE TO GO TO GAME DIRECTLY AND SEE ON A FULL SCREEN..
AND LASTLY DIRECT TV HAS BOTH HOME AND VISITOR BROADCASTS OF EACH GAME..VERIZON DOES NOT ONLY 1..
AND FINALLY WHY IS VERIZON'S COST MORE FOR A VERY INFERIOR PRODUCT...
I'VE ATTEMPTED TO SPEAK TO VERIZON RE. THIS MATTER SEVERAL TIME... NO LUCK GETTING AN ANSWER FROM INFERIOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT PEOPLE

The lack of MLB Extra Innings in hi-def, except for one or two games, has been well documented in this chat area.  If you're still in your first 90 (30? -- can't recall) days, you can cancel FIOS at no charge.  You could then go back to the dish.
Finally, please don't post in ALL CAPS.  It is the equivalent of shouting.
    Best of luck with this...

  • MLB Extra Innings Channels missing from guide?

The two MLB Extra Innings HD channels (1473 & 1474) are not showing for me in the on screen guide. Both can be manually tuned to with the "program information not available" message. Is anybody else seeing this issue?

I have sent you a private message to look into this further.
