MLBtv skips, stutters, unsyncs video

MLBtv skips almost immediately as i begin watching a game (i watch SNLA HD, for the Dodgers). the stream jumps backwards about 5-10 seconds, with the audio going back even further. as the broadcast continues, the audio trails the video by at least 5 seconds.
i've tried everything, including restarting Apple tv. when i use Airplay to stream the same broadcast from my iPad, it works fine.
no other app does this. Netflix streams fine. and this has been going on since spring training.

I have been seeing the same thing with my ATV3. It appears to me that the MLB.TV application needs some tweaking. Also if I airplay from the Mac or Ipad it works fine. And I am connected to the router over ethernet.

  • Apogee Duet FireWire skipping/stuttering audio

I've bought Apogee Duet FireWire back in 2011 when I had another macbook pro and I believe it was OS X Lion powered. The problem started since I updated to Mountain Lion and next upgrades were the same. There was a time when it was not very clean if the drivers at the official apogee's site are fresh enough. But now I have OS X Yosemite and fresh drivers that claim to be for this system. As to hardware, since Apogee had only FW400 wire, later I bought FW800 wire, and then FW800<->ThunderBolt adapter. So now I use this connection: Duet -> FW400/FW800 wire -> FW800/ThunderBolt adaptor -> MacBook Pro. The audio is working normal in 80% of time, but otherwise there are stutterings of the sound. Is there a way to get rid of this problem? Thank you.

I just started having problems with my Duet this afternoon and found this thread so I thought I'd give a shout out to you guys to see if you have any ideas before talking with the company....
I've had my Apogee Duet since about feb and never had any problems until this afternoon. For some reason the Duet doesn't seem to want to interface with my computer at all anymore. When plugged in, the lights light up on the Duet however under system profiler I get the "unable to list firewire devices" error msg. Under the Sound tab in preferences, the Duet is not listed as an available I/O. In the Apple Midi Setup or whatever it's called in utilities, the icon for the Duet is still there but it doesn't show it as online. I can still press the big button and the little green light cycles through input 1/input 2 yada yada yada, but the computer doesn't seem to see it. When I open up Maestro, both the control and mixer screens are completely blank. I've tried resetting the unit (holding button down for 5 seconds), using different firewire cords, and finally uninstalling and reinstalling the Maestro software (using the Duet software - May 2008 link on apogees site) and none of these things solve the problem. I haven't had a chance to plug in another FW400 device into my Macbook Pro to see if it's a problem with the port, but I get the same result with the Duet on my MBP and my G5 PPC tower, which leads me to believe it's a problem with the unit. Also, since it's bus-powered, the lights wouldn't light up if the ports on the computer were fried, right?? Has this happened to anyone else?? Any ideas on how to fix it before calling up Apogee?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • How I fixed stuttering iTuned video playback

    I went into quicktime preferences and unchecked;
    - enable directdraw on secondary monitors
    - enable direct3d video acceleration
In start, run, I typed; dxdiag and on display tab I disabled direct3d acceleration.
For games and things like cyberlink powerdvd you will need this enabled, so only disable direct3d video acceleration in dxdiag when you watch itunes or quicktime is stuttering.
Then in my ati video settings I enabled amd overdrive.
I didn't change any settings in amd overdrive because when I do I get corrupt blocky pictures and sometimes my computer crashes, so when I enable amd overdrive I just enable it and don't change any settings.
Now I can play video in itunes with no stopping of the video which unsynced video with audio.

Cool. Hopefully someone will benifit from this .

  • ITunes skips, stutters, jerky when I minimze

Okay here is the deal. I use to have iTunes 4.9 and it worked fine. When I went to update my iTunes to 6.0 it messed up my computer big time. So I uninstalled 6.0 and installed 4.9. That didn't work. I couldn't go back to the way it was. The problem is when iTunes is open and I try to play music it play fine. However when I go to minimize the program it starts to skip, stutters, plays jerky whatever, it doesn't play like it did on 4.9. It also bogs down my computer. I have over a gig or RAM. So I went to try my other audio player music match and the problem is even worse. I never had this problem before I installed iTunes 6.0. My mouse now disappears randomly when I have too many programs open and iTunes is not open. What ever iTunes did is conflicting with my other programs even when I restart and never open up iTunes.
I am running windows XP home edition SP2.
System Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.66GHz
    DirectX version: 9.0 or better
Graphics Card Processor: GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
    Video BIOS version 4.28.20.05.02
    ForceWare version: 81.85
I have Safe mode (waveOut only) checked in QuickTime 7.0.3.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing has change. If anything things got worse. My mouse is even jerky at times.
    PLEASE HELP!

    hi Michael!
hmmmm. let's try running your XP "Input Devices" troubleshooter. easiest way to find it is to do a Help and Support Search on "list of troubleshooters", and scroll down the list until you see the relevant link.
    keep us posted.

  • Skipping/stuttering in itunes may in fact be a bigger problem..?

so, i've been over in the itunes forum for the last couple weeks digging around for a fix to an issue i've had with that app since upgrading to 7.6 for movie rentals.
specifically, it's SEVERE skipping & stuttering of audio & video files in itunes, irrespective of whether they've been purchased on ITMS or ripped from my personal collection.
i think there may be a connection, though, with QT, since i upgraded that to 7.4 at the same time. well, fast forward to tonight when i clicked on a link to go to youtube to check out something a buddy sent me...guess what? skipping video and audio for every single youtube video i selected. have gone to other streaming media sites and...voila! same thing.
it's apparent that the playback issue is a large one, or at least bigger than itunes for me...so was interested in whether anyone here has been experiencing something similar.
    this didn't exist before "leopard + QT 7.4 + itunes 7.6"
btw, the update to itunes 7.6.1 did not alleviate the issue.

agreed. could've written that better. was attempting to demonstrate the pervasiveness of the problem...
    affected media:
    - video & audio in itunes (m4p & m4v)
    - video & audio in quicktime (mpeg)
    - video & audio in both safari & firefox (flash)
    hoping someone's got a suggestion...

  • An investigation into "skipping a beat" or skipping forward in video and au

I've been researching this problem for months now as it was the biggest "ick factor" of the new computer I built. I'm creating this thread to document what I and others know about it, or at least think we know, so that maybe it will help us or ideally Creative to take a look into it.
Note: This thread only refers to the skip-ahead issue and may or may not address SCP.
See this post for some applications designed to diagnose and work around this issue.
    The issue
Audio skipping a beat, videos jumping ahead.. This problem has many different names, and it describes a skip-ahead in media playback in the amount of typically between 300 milliseconds and a second. It can be subtle, so many users may not notice it or even care, but I've traced it down as far as I was able.
Please post here if you have this problem, along with what processor, motherboard, and sound card you're using. The processor and sound card seem to be the most important.
    Why it occurs
You know about interrupts, right? Maybe you don't know that much about them. Neither do I, really. But they're the subject of much discussion when it comes to Creative's sound cards.
The Creative sound driver, by default, chooses to accept its interrupts on the first CPU available on the system. For some reason, when audio or video players aren't running on the same CPU or core as the sound driver accepts interrupts on, the system becomes prone to these skip-aheads.
In other words, video or audio players will experience no problems if they're running on CPU 0, the first CPU in the system. So with typical single-core processors, one should never experience an issue, unless perhaps they use hyperthreading which makes a single-core Pentium processor appear to have two cores.
Multi-core or multi-CPU systems running Windows (this post assumes Windows XP) by default allow running applications to be moved from CPU to CPU as the operating system or application sees fit, to put it simply. So your video or audio player may not always stay on the same core as the sound driver receives interrupts on.
But digging deeper into the problem, I was able to limit it to some specific modules, at least for video playback: the container splitter, and DirectShow. For standard AVI playback, quartz.dll should handle the splitting and DirectShow from what I understand, but if you're using a splitter such as Haali Media Splitter then both splitter.ax and quartz.dll must be using CPU 0.
    How I tested this
I tried many, many, many things to solve this problem. I switched motherboards, graphics cards, processors, hard dri'ves, sound cards; reinstalled Windows, etc. It has happened with every configuration I've tried with one of my Creative sound cards, the Audigy 2 ZS or the X-Fi XtremeGamer, the same issue with both.
To aid in my testing, I created a Video Playback Tester application that uses a Windows Media Player object to monitor for skips in playback using a timer that checks the playback position periodically. It's a simple, hacked-together program written in C#, but I'll make it available to anyone who wants to use it for their own testing (let me know).
The first thing I discovered was that my onboard audio had no problems, while the sound cards did, and this was the same case for every configuration (motherboard, processor, etc.) that I tried.
So finally I was able to narrow it down to processor affinity. I ran several testers, set half of them to use CPU 0 and half of them to use CPU . Those on CPU had the random skipping, but those on CPU 0 were totally fine.
Shortly after this I learned of a tool known as the [url="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/252867">Interrupt-Affinity Filter Tool[/url]. It allows you to adjust on multiprocessor systems which CPU interrupts are received on. So, for my sound card, I tried setting it to CPU 0. This had no change from the default of either CPU; the effect was the same. So then, out of curiosity, I decided to try setting it to CPU . When I did this, the effect was reversed. Rather than CPU 0 having no problems, it began to exhibit the skips while CPU was fine. This is why I suspect a driver issue. After this, I reverted back to normal settings.
Using Process Explorer, I was able to see which the running threads of applications and which modules they were launched from. It was a bit of a daunting task, but I decided to incorporate this functionality into my playback tester in order to be able to set affinities on specific threads based on their module name.
The first thing I did was have it set every module's threads to CPU 0 except for one module. I ran several testers and had each one leave a certain module alone.
It was in this way that I was able to discover that with splitter.ax (my media splitter - Haali to be exact) left alone, the problem occurred. So then I ran a test with splitter.ax alone on CPU 0 and the rest left alone, and I was surprised to find that the problem still occurred.
Eventually, after testing a bunch of combinations, I was able to narrow it down to splitter.ax, quartz.dll, and dsound.dll, and after that I was able to eliminate dsound.dll, leaving the media splitter and DirectShow.
    So.. what?
This post is mainly informational, but I'd like to know who else has these issues. To those that do, do you have an Intel Pentium processor that supports hyperthreading, or a dual-core processor? And which processor specifically?
I suggest you try the following and see if it eliminates the problem.
    . Open your media player.
    2. Right-click the taskbar and click Task Manager.
    3. Click the Applications tab, find your player, right-click it, and click Go To Process.
    4. Right-click the process and click Set Affinity... Now make sure CPU is unchecked and only CPU 0 is checked. Click OK.
    5. Play whatever usually skips and see if it still does.
It's possible to work around this problem, but I for one would prefer a proper fix from Creative.
Let me know if it helps! Post what you know, what you've tried, etc.Message Edited by sireebob on 04-6-200707:48 PM

    Thanks Jutapa.
When I ran the DPC Latency Checker, there were no significant hiccups, and nothing abnormal at all when the skips occurred. The PCI Latency Tool had no effect on the issue, either (I tried many different latency options, between 0 and 248). But maybe they'll help other people with this or similar problems!
Besides that, I tried logging huge amounts of data with the performance monitor and there's no consistent abnormalities at the times the skips occur as far as CPU usage or any other measurable variables go.
I'll check out http://musicxp.net! I'd tried fresh installs and disabling all unnecessary system services and startup programs before and it also had absolutely no effect, but that's probably not what MusicXP.net advises, so I'll take a look. Thanks!

  • I have a new Macbook Air 2012, Apple TV 2 and I have tried wired and wireless connections both result in stuttering during video airplay to the ATV2.

I have a new Macbook Air 2012, Apple TV 2 and I have tried wired and wireless connections both still result in stuttering during video airplay to the ATV2.
I have even bought a new Airport Extreme Router just to confirm it is not the router and it still didn't help.
I have brought all items in the same room with wired connections and still same issue.
I was thinking maybe ATV 3 might help since it has 2 wifi antennas and faster processor.
Have tried everything I could think of.
This was one of the main reasons I bought a Macbook Air for this airplay feature. Very frustrated.
Any thoughts; any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I also disabled Norton Firewall and restarted the Air and Now I'm able to use Air Play.
I know that the Apple remedy said that to do that in the support article, but I totally forgot I had that enabled..
It actually works. I can even stream to the Apple TV now through my MacBook Air.
BTW, Go into setting under the ATV, and click on update...you'll see that there was another update avaialble for the last gen of ATV...
It does have to restart twice..I guess once to download and and nother to apply.

  • Video and animation Skips 10% of video/animation duration button

    Hello,
Is it possible to create a button to skip 10% of video and animation duration? I can easily make it work on just the video but I need the animation scroll bar to follow on where I skip. Below is the playback animation I did:
The play button and the blue with orange bar syncs nicely but I can't sync the skip buttons to work with the video and the bar animation. Basically it's a video player that can do a frame-by-frame for the animation video above to show frame-by-frame when you start drawing. I'd like to have the bar follow the skip buttons on where the video timeline is.
I'm no code expert but knows how to use Edge Animate, the basic functions.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
I ve tried to re-create a project with the issue... but it is working all right.
The timeline animation is not stopping my video....
If I reproduce the issue I came back to the forum.
    thank you

  • Songs skipping/stuttering

It's only been happening for the past day or so, but while I'm listening to songs, whether iTunes is open or in mini-player mode, the songs will randomly start skipping/stuttering. Is there any way to fix this other than re-installing iTunes?

I have a similar problem. After changing the battery, I can barely hear my podcasts even at the highest volume level while I have no problem with the volume of the songs. However, some of my songs are warbled. The warbled songs are no from the same album. I also did the R's.
    Help appreciated.

  • Audugy 2 Platinum Spdif Optical out audio skips/stutters/static/pop/interfere

I have the Audigy Dolby 5. working, blue light from the sony receiver, but when the dvd plays with powerdvd, the picture is fine, but the audio skips and stutters. It works fine when I am decoding via the audigy and analog,?and I have tried powerdvd and windvd and they both have the same issue with spdif, so the issue is with the Optical out and some kind of interference.
    Is there anything?I can do?
Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

  • Distortion: Skipping Stuttering iTunes

My iTunes works and sounds great until I open another application like Outlook, then it breaks up, skips, stutters, etc.
    Anyone encounter/fix this problem?
    g

I just experienced this same issue. I'm always listening and using other apps, and have never had a skip or bit of static.
It seems to occur most often to me at least today while copying large files to other volumes.
This has to be a bug, I have a slow G4 800 with 1.5 gig of RAM and this is the firt time I have ever noticed this.
Since the version hasn't changed, and I am always multitasking while rocking out I would tend to think it has to be something I added. Come to think of it I added the 6.5 to 7.x MPEG2 plugin for QT last night.
I think I'll start there unless someone else finds somethng.

  • Skipping/Stuttering Music in Library

    Hey,
Recently whenever I play any song from my iTunes library from my computer, every 5-10 seconds the song skips/stutters, which becomes very annoying over the course of the song. I don't understand why this is happening. Is there anything I can do to correct this?
    Thanks

Same thing for me with iTunes 7.x. This problem doesn't appears with version 6.
At every 10 secs itunes scrowls the artist name / album name and cause 70% cpu usage !! about 14 seconds after the begining of a new song the cpu goes to 100%. If the two things happens at the same time ... the sound scratch about 2-3 secs.
    Solution ? Go back to version 6 ? wait for 7.4; 7.5 version ?
Somebody knows what to do ? Help !!
    Sorry for my english ...

  • Very slight stuttering on video?

    Hi,
Yesterday I finally went out and bought myself a Mini 1.83GHZ standard model with no RAM upgrades or the like.
So I have connected it via a DVI-HDMI cable to my Samsung TV. Please bear in mind that I bought the Mini purely for my DVD collection. I have a Lacie 500GB 7200RPM HD plugged into it via USB and have created aliases to these movies (Video TS files) in my Movie Folder on the Mini.
Picture is fantastic and I am very happy. However every couple of minutes I get a very slight stuttering of the video as though the HD is not being read fast enough or it is dropping frames ever so slightly! I must stress that it is *very very* slight to the point I had to watch different videos for around 1 hour to ensure it wasn't my eyes playing tricks on me. After watching carefully there is definitely a tiny problem and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so is there a solution.
    Thanks in advance

Okay so I tried with a DVD directly and still the same problem...then started to worry that maybe it's a broken Mini!
Decided to go into screen settings and change it to 60Hertz (NTSC) instead of 50Hertz (PAL) and it seems to have resolved the problem. It's strange because I live in the UK and just assumed it should be set to PAL. I can only guess that the slight stuttering problem was to do with the refresh rate on the TV?!
Now I have one other problem (seems to be ongoing), I have just bought a mini adapter for my optical cable and it is working through my Yamaha amp (the sound is there) but it's not 5.1 surround it's only Dolby ProLogic...any ideas on this problem?
