I can't get the **bleep** thing to work!!So.. I'm trying to transmute CSS and HL2 sounds with alchemy but I just can't get it to work I copied the relevant codes for HL2 and CSS here http://preview.creativelabs.com/alch.../AllItems.aspx?and put them to the alchemy.ini file, then I fired up alchemy and tried to transmute HL2 and CSS but it didn't work.. It didn't copy any files to HL2 or CSS folders... then I tried to manually copy the files (dsound.dll, dsound.ini) to the game folder and then transmuted but it didn't do anything to the files.. :/I can hovewer manually change the values in the files once they're in the game folders but does that work like it should?

How could i reinstal my Lion if it doesn't allow me because a newer version is installed? Should i get the reinstall it using latest ( Mavericks) ? im so frustrated here, its been more than 1 week already im trying to solve this after searching the same problem and try to find solutions.
The only thing i haven't try is backup the data to another Mac using firewire (which i need to buy the firewire first).and backup the data using single mode user which using the commands that im not really familiar to it.
SO please, help me, how could i reinstall my Lion since the newer version is installed? i guess this is the safest way for me not to lose any data. Thanks for your help.

Ive just signed up for the adobe photoshop pack, i use a mac, when i click download, nothing is happening.. Am I doing something wrong?? When I try and open the software I already had from trial it says its expired, or i need to use a serial number... HELP Anyone else experienced this?
If there is an option to "license this software", and it takes you to a sign-in page with username and password (not a serial number) - then just go ahead and sign in.
If it insists on a serial number you need to uninstall the trial. Then try to download again. -
In OS X Mavericks using Safari, the search bar at the top that i had on the previous system version disappears only reappearing in the full screen. Do i have to go into full screen every time? Bit of a pain but no doubt I'm doing something wrong!

Here is how to see RAM overloaded…
Reboot to see the system in it's default state.
Open TextEdit for the sake of it
Open Activity Monitor & Terminal from /Applications/Utilities.
Select the Memory tab
In Terminal enter the following command
memory_pressure -l critical
# note that is a lowercase L
RAM usage will climb, compression will begin the VM will become way more than the system has installed.
Eventually the system will start swapping (look for RED) - Watch the 'memory pressure' & 'Swap used' as this happens.
Try switching to TextEdit - the system is still coping !
Switch back to Terminal & hit ctrl+c to stop the process.
Watch the VM & memory pressure return to normal levels.
This OS kicks 4ss !

Hello. I have just built a website using iWeb but cannot upload it. I curently have the 25gb account. There doesn't appear to be any facility here for the net. Am I correct in thinking I need an upgrade, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks
iCloud does not provide website hosting. You will need to find another website hosting service - there are many to choose from - and upload your site there. How you do this depends on what version of iWeb you have.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
Some facilities that iWeb provided when hosted on MobileMe will not work on other servers: comments on weblogs and photos, password-protecting your site (some hosts may provide this), searching in the weblog, and a hits counter (again, some hosts can provide code for this). Slideshows in iWeb will work on other hosts than MobileMe (they use different code when FTPing which doesn't depend on scripts hosted on MobileMe as the MobileMe version does); however there is an issue with the 'buttons' which control the slideshow which are images hosted on me.com - these depend on images which used to be hosted on MobileMe. Using Pages for e-books - am I doing something wrong here?

I wrote 5 e-books with a total of around 1.500 pages in Pages. Great program
Now I wanted to apply a template but in a mix og horror and frustration, I'm not sure if I got all this wrong.
Can't I apply a template on a document already written? I bought a template with 10-12 different page setups, looking really nice.
It's like I can only add new pages and move my text to them, page by page and I'm NOT going to do that with 1.500+ pages :s
Am I doing this wrong? Is Pages the wrong choise for this?
If not, what program would be the one to use for setting up my books?
Thanks in advance for any feedbackPages templates do not work in this way, they have fairly poor templating and styling methods.
If it is simply a matter of styling a lot of word processing you could open the previous work in Pages *Word Processing mode* and replace each style with an edited version of itself. Replacing colors is not so easy and layout extremely difficult.
Pages does not have the efficient keyboard methods of applying styles, that more capable DTP packages have. So applying the styles is tedious.
Even with styling unless you had been extremely careful dividing your paragraph, character and list styles you will likely have a lot of manual work to do. Pages does not have a method that I know of to show unstyled text that would drop through the cracks of any changes.
If you did the previous work in *Layout mode*, you may as well start from scratch, there would be too much manual adjustments etc to make it worthwhile.
To get the sophisticated updating of firstly styled text, you would need a DTP program that allows direct exchange of styles. To have the ability to change layout you really would need Adobe InDesign.

Settings > iTunes and App Store > Apple ID = Sign Out... Then Sign In using the preferred Apple ID.
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID -
My iphone only sync's SOME of my ical events from my macbook. I only have 1 calendar. Am I doing something wrong? I'm not using the cloud.
With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not. -
I am new to Lightroom 5 and find I cannot crop my photos as easily as I did in iPhoto. I would like to be able to drag them if I choose a custom size or crop them from the bottom as well as from the top but my two sided arrow disappears when I work at the bottom of the photo. Am I doing something wrong?
I would suggest you trash the prefs.
Quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following file:
com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
Then re-launch Lightroom
It’s then worth clearing each cache. Go to the top menu bar:
Lightroom >> Preferences >> File Handling (tab)
Click the Purge Cache button under Camera Raw Cache Settings; then click the Purge Cache button under Video Cache Settings. Finally click OK. -
I have added photos to My Photo Stream on my PC (Windows 7). They appear in the Uploads folder instead. They do not upload to iCloud. Am I doing something wrong?
Unfortunately, photo stream on a PC is iffy at best. Many people have problems getting it to work properly, including myself. A work around would be to use an app like PhotoSync on your PC, which can send photos wirelessly to the camera roll on any of your iOS devices on the same wifi network. Once in the camera roll, you iOS device will be added to your photo stream.

I have a Windows 8.1 and it's even running slow. I'm a complete novice with computers (I've only had this one for 3 weeks) and I'm probably doing something wrong, but I haven't a clue what.
The tools are not responding when I try to use them. Some of them work sometimes, but not others and some don't work at all. I'm in a design class online and I need these tools desperately. I have an assignment due Monday and I'm losing the whole weekend because Tech Support is only open M-F!

Multitasking bar? Does this constantly use data?
Hi,
Unfortunetly AT&T did away with their unlimated data feature so I'm stuck with the 2gb per month plan. My question is when I leave an app in the multitask bar does this constantly use my data? I have notifications turned off and I have my mail set up for me to manually load it. It's becoming a pain to have to keep an eye on which apps are running and to not be able to shut the app completely down when I close it, instead I'm going to my MTB every 10 min. to kill apps.

I've been relatively uninspired by AT&T's service in my area and researching changing to the Droid X as well. It does have a few features that are attractive like a replaceable battery, storage on a replaceable card and so on. The display on the iPhone 4 is simply amazing though and I already prefer the interface of the iPhone to the Droids, so it's probably going to be an upgrade instead of a switch of providers.
The video conferencing on the iPhone is a nice feature but since it's required to be over wifi on each connection, the chances of both my wife and myself being on wifi at the same time unless we're in the house together are slim to none and slim left town. So, great feature, not very practical.
I did find one thing unique today, the sales guy at AT&T had his own iPhone 4 and we did a couple of speed tests while I was there vs my 3GS. Now we were both on 3G at the time and really the speeds should have been almost identical as the processor should have nothing to do with the transmission speed over 3G but his phone blew mine away. A bit on the download but a huge amount on the upload. Kind of makes me wonder if there's been something wrong with my 3Gs that I wasn't really aware of? -
So I am transferring all of my InDesign files over to my boss because I am leaving my job, but all of the photos placed in the layouts I've created show up blurry when he opens the files on his own computer. We've tried relinking the files, even! We may be doing it wrong, so first of all, could I get a detailed step-by-step to relinking files? Secondly, if that doesn't work, what else would you suggest?
Info that may or may not help: I have a PC, he has a Mac, we used Google Drive to share the files, and I've already tried packaging the files.
Thanks!Is it now the appearance in ID only or also PDF output? If the output is fine, it may just be the screen display settings. ID by default shows a low res screen copy. You can check on the boss' computer by selecting an image, right click and change the setting...near the bottom of the menu.
Also, in the links panel, are all the images up to date? -
Problems with aspect ratio metadata filtering, am I doing things wrong?

I tried to filter out all my pictures in a collection that has a portrait aspect ratio but LR is doing it all wrong.
As you can see, there is a mix of landscape and portraits even though portrait is filtered.
I tried to look at some of my other collections and see if this was an isolated issue but found that I have the problem here and there.
Found this example:
Even though the dimensions in the EXIF-info on the right says 3456x2304, LR thinks that the picture is square.
Could I be doing something wrong here or could I somewhere help LR on the way or is it a bug of some sort? I'm using LR 3.3 on a Mac with Mac OS 10.5.8

-JimmyMany thanks. Didn't think of that but I cropped all the wrong pictures to landscape and then did a reset to the crop and that did the trick. There were almost 4000 pictures wrong so I'm glad that I could use the auto-sync feature to do it faster.

Welcome to the Apple community.
You must remember, that whilst you see Internet speeds quoted as say 8, 12, 16, 30 Mb per second etc, this refers to download speed. most service providers will give you around 1 Mb per second as upload speed. At these speeds a gigabyte of information will take around about 2 1/4 hours to upload.
So in answer to your question, no I don't think you are doing anything wrong. -
I wonder if im doing something wrong. The phone is plugged into the power outlet and occasionally I check to see if it progresses. I am doing it manually thru the icloud section.

Because I know that the includeIn isn't creating the other buttons untill they are needed. I need them created when the button is created. That is my question, how do I get the other states to be created when the button is created so that I don't see the button flash black?

Bug in shuffle? or am I doing something wrong?
Hi,
I have a number of 1-minute clips that each have a 3 second text name on them in track v2. I've decided I want to re-order some of the clips, and I'm having more trouble with it than expected.
First I tried to attach the name to the audio and video clips using
Modify->Link, but that does not seem to work for linking two video clips in the timeline together. (I also tried attaching the text to one of the audio tracks, but all that did was unlink the "real" video that went with the audio.)
I decided it's not that hard to just select both video tracks for each move, I'll just shuffle them together. I can't get shuffle to work properly! It worked (sortof) once. I selected both video and audio tracks, dragged them to the new location, hit "Option", watched the pointer change, and released the mouse. The selection moved, but instead of rippling the change down, it left a gap. It did not overwrite the other item in the track as though I had not hit option.
I can work around that I'll just be left with a gap as I move segments forward to where the correct sequence is.
Now comes the problem: I can't even repeat that! It seems no matter what I do, I can't shuffle segments in the timeline, they will overwrite. I've tried moving just the V1 segment, with the intent of moving the text later, no luck; it overwrites! I make sure that the arrow changes when I press the option key, and it does, although sometimes it changes to the right arrow instead of the little bendy one. Either way it overwrites instead of inserting. I've tried cmd-x cmd-v to cut and paste, but again it overwrites.
Is this a bug I've triggered? or am I doing something wrong? I've read through page 200-201, volume 2 of the manual fairly carefully and I think I'm doing it right.
I am using FCP 5.0.4.

PS. Even if it did work correctly, I think I'd prefer to shuffle automatically, and overwrite by pressing the option key. Is there any way to set that in a preference?It always works for me. You cannot shuffle multiple clips. Well, if you do, it will leave a gap. Why? dunno.
I believe if your video and audio are not linked (cmd-L and you can only link audio and video, not multiple video clips) they will be considered multiple clips.
The "bendy" arrow is the one you want and it varies based on where in the track your pointer is. Lower - insert, upper (I think) leaves a gap. Also, I always press the option key after I've started moving, but before it settles, but I don't think that should affect your operation as long as you push option after you've started moving, but before you let go.
As to changing the option behavior, I don't think there's a way...
