MM LSMW extending materials to new plant

Hi Experts,
I got a requirement, where I need to create a LSMW for extending the materials for a new plant. Should I use MM01 or MM02 Direct Input Method of LSMW(RMDATIND). Kindly help me with this.

why dont you try it yourself manually before you try to do it with a load program.
Just execute MM02 in your system and try to extend it to a new plant, you will immediatly have your answer.
Change: you can only change what exists
Create: you create something that does not exist.
Can you change the plant data that does not yet exist in material master?

Hi Kjettern,
To extend the existing material to a new Plant/Profit centre, pls follow the following steps: -
1. Copy down the material number (i.e XYZ) you want to extend.
2. Go to t-code MM01.
3. Enter the material number (i.e. XYZ) you copied from (1) into the Material field and hit ENTER.
4. You will get an information on the bottom that "the material type XXX and the industry sector YYY has been copied from master record".
5. Pls note that Basic Data 1 & 2 is not changeable as the same set of material data will be used when a material is extended.
6. Hit ENTER again. To change other details other than Basic Data 1 & 2, select the views that you want.
7. You will be prompted to enter a Plant. Here you must enter the new Plant that you want to extend the material to and hit ENTER.
8. You will get a confirmation stating that the material already existed and will be extended (to the desired Plant u entered in (7)).
9. Ensure that all the data in all the important tabs are maintained, for the right Storage Location, Warehouse Num, Moving Average Price, Standard Price etc. before proceed further.
10. Hit Save. You will get a msg that "Material XYZ created".
Now you are able to use this material number in the new Plant you created.

Mass Extn. of materials to new plants(MM17 or any other T Code)

Hi can you guys advise me on the following:-
I havve materils A,B,C,D and so on which are let us say present in plant P1, P2,P3 and P4.
My requirement is to do a mass extension of these materials to new plants which could be say P1A,P2A,P4 and say P3
Kindly advise.
I tried MM17 but could not complete the same as it the field WERKS of MARC does not come inthe search fields

LSMW for extending materials to new set of plants

Hello All,
Our requirement is to extend some hundreds of materials to a set of few plants. Can this be done in LSMW? Or should BDC be used??

How can I extend materials to a new plant and Sales Org. through LSMW?
I use the Standard Batch Object 0020, program RMDATIND for creating new Materials the first time (this qworks fine), but there is no option 'Extend to existing material' or there is no field called Reference Material...
Maybe it is because we use internal numbering of the new Materials that makes it unpossible to extend materials to existing material-numbers?

Error while extending material for new plant

Dear All,
We have created new plant through copying old plant.
But when I try to extend the material to the newly created plat system giving error message
Tables TCURM and T001w inconsistent : notify your system administrator
Msg no M3820
Diagnosis
Valuation is at plant level. However, inconsistencies have arisen because of the way in which the plant was configured in Customizing or because plants have not been assigned to a company code.
kindly help me out to over come this issue as early as possible.

Extending Material to new plants - Legal Control

Hi All.
I am extending a material to new plants by copying the data froma particular plant.
Whats happening is for some plants the LEGAL CONTROIL data (Foreign Trade Import view) is automatically getting copied and populated but for some plants it is not.
What could be the reason?

Extending material in new plant

I have mainteined the mm related views (basic data 1,2,Plnt storage data 1,purchasing accounting)for some materials and want to add FICO related views for the same material.But after gouing to MM02 ,im getting an error msg' Material not fully maintained for this transaction/event'.plz help as soon as possible.

Some Material views extended through T.code MM50 provide the following input datas are
Maintenance Status             :    ___ ( select drop down menu & select require material view )
Material code                       :   ___________
Plant                                    :   ___________
after provided input datas and then executed. Now, one line item show and first small box tick mark and press maintenance button. The view extended to the particular material.

Hi Sakthi,
I am assuming that you are asking about the factory calendars which are assigned while difing the plant.
Factory calendars are created through transaction "SCAL".
Opening and closing of MM periods can be done through transaction MMPV.This is based on the company code.Before using MMPV ,you can look the last opened period in the transaction MMRV.

See you have to record the values through SHDB. The recording is send to ABAPER for BDC programme. This prog needs CSV, or tab delimited file with values which can be uploaded

Mass Extension of Materials to various Plants

Hi there,
I have a Material NO. 11205 creted in Plant A001. I have 30 Plants ranging from A001 to A010 then B001 to B010 and so on. Is there a Transaction in SAP thru which I can extend Material 11205 in all the Plants at one shot?

Hello,
There isn't a simple transaction to extend plants as there is for storage locations. In my experience, there are usually significant differences in the setup of materials in the different plants so you need to take account of these when extending plants. If this is something you do on a regular basis you can either set up an LSMW to create the new plant views or have an ABAP'er write you a custom program to do this.

What settings we need to check in SD module while creating the new plant.

If we extending(creating) the new plant what all the things that we need to check in sales and distribution module, what all the configuration that needs to be performed.
But it is not a manufacturing plant. All the service processes are takes place from this plant.
While creating the plant if we are copying from the existing plant, is that the all assignments are copying to the new plant or not?

u can use "BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA".
Suppose u have to Extend material from 1000 to 1100 plant.
so ur template will be like this:
Material Number,Current_Plant,extend_plant,valuation area ,Type
Using Material Number,Current_Plant , valuation arear , Type and pass it to
BAPI_MATERIAL_GET_DETAIL
u will get all data 4 , BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.

Extending Materials one plant to another plant

while extending material through LSMW to another plant we facing problem :
Sales : Sales Org 1 showing more fields mandatory like 1,valid from; 2. X-distr Chain Status 3. Sales Unit of Mesasure etc. LSMW programme was OK   i did more times through this programme to extended. i maintained the below fields only in LSMW. BUT while i extending material through MM01 there is no problems showing. please advice how to solve this. i want to extend more than 10K material in to new plants.

if you used this program successfully before, and now it is complaining about new mandatory fields, then I would say that someone has changed the field selection for your material masters.
Try to extend one material (that making problems in LSMW) using the manual way with MM01. LSMW does not really do anything different, so I expect that you face the problems with MM01.
Then you either need to ask to the person who changed the settings to reset them or you need to extend your LSMW so that it can run with the new settings.

Extending the existing functional locations to a new plant?

The following is my concern:
Q1) I have a set of functional locations(roughly around 5000 records) assigned to say Plant A.
I would like to extend these existing functional locations to Plant B. I am not permitted to do this using LSMW. I should execute this operation in one shot.
How to accomplish this?
Q2) After attaching all the functional locations to Plant B, i should replace the first 4 characters of the functional location structure with the Plant Code itself. Again not through an lsmw. How to accomplish this in one shot?
Please let me know the procedure of doing it with some guidelines.

1. You can extentd to the other plant with SCAT ,BDC etc
2. But You can not replace the first four letters from the FL with the New plant code.Remember this is a master data

How to extend commodity codes list to a new plant?

Dear friends,
I've created a new plant in our organization.
I would like to use the same commodity codes we use for the other plants. It means thousands commodity codes.
I guess there is a way in SAP to copy commodity codes from one plant to another one.
Could you please let me know how to do that?

You can use LSMW for this purpose.
You can use standard LSMW or do recording for this.
In the LSMW, enter only plant specific data for input file.
