    Hi Matt,
Check the following in your process:
    - If you have gateways in your process, ensure that all the paths have conditions and atleast 1 default path for gateway is set
    - Check for Process Administrator assignment and TaskLevel/Lane level potential owners are assigned
    - Check for the i/o mapping of tasks
    - Check the Problem View for th errors.

  • How to invoke business process from sap xi?

    Hi...
Please tell "How to invoke business process from SAP UI's."

    Hi...
How to invoke business process from SAP UI's. (Eg: To trigger a process after creating an invoice)

  • Invoking a WLI 9.2 business process from JSF Controller class

I want to call a WLI business process from a java class, which will run in the same JVM as the WLI. I have read that JPD Proxy can be used for this purpose. I am concerned with the overhead of RMI calls. Any insight into this would be helpful .

    Hi Raj
You have to use JPDproxy to call a business process from a java class. This is what BEA also recommends at http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/integration/howdoI/howProxyJavaClient.html as this is the only way to call a JPD from plain java class.
Many customers use this and even if there is, the overhead should not be substantial.
You may also want to try posting in the WLI newsgroup at http://forums.bea.com/bea/forum.jspa?forumID=2047

  • Timeout error calling a Business Process from another Business Process

    Hi to all,
How can I call a Business Process (BP2) from another Business Process (BP1) and wait for the response before other things are performed? I'm trying to call from BP1 in a synchronous step the process BP2; the first step of BP2 is an Open S/A Bridge and, after a transformation, a Close S/A Bridge, but no response returns to BP1 till a timeout error.

  • Separating heavy duty business process from web application

I'm working with a web application that just runs in a Servlet container, Jetty actually. I'm wondering what the best way to separate resource intensive processes, such as a search indexing process, from the main web application. These resource intensive processes might run at scheduled times, or they might be triggered by the events in the web application. I assume the second thing might incur much more complications on the solutions. I have a lot of questions about this, but for now, I'd just like to have some folks point out the common solutions. Changing to a EE application server is NOT an option.

    chadmichael wrote:
    Couple of questions:
    1) What's the benefit of going to another app if you're still on the same server? I'm not being coy, I'm just trying to get a feel for the pros and cons. You could always run something on a timer from within the web application. Is there a performance benefit from being in another JVM? Then run it on the same server. No need to run it on another server if a separate JVM will do it for you.
    2) How would you communicate with the main app if you needed to receive events or something? RMI?You stated it was on a timer. There is no need to be on the same server to run things from a timer. If it needs to be event driven a simple way would be to set up a separate instance of Tomcat (or Jetty) on the same or different server. Refactor out what ever the offending code is into separate servlet and have your main app just send the events off to the other instance.
There are a lot of ways to go about this. They depend on what your needs are.

  • Business Process Modeling in SAP Solution Manager

    Hi.
Even ther an Solution Manager space, i wish to get some opinion related to Business process Modeling.
We are working in an upgrade project. R/3 4.6 C to ECC 6.0. The customer decide to use Solution manager to map their process, based on the transactions of the new version.
    Company Business Process:
    1.Based on ISO standards.
    2.By product line
3.The process are defined using an structure with 4 Levels: Macro Process, Business scenarios, Business Process and Steps/activities.
There are 2 possibilities to map the process into the Sap Solution Manager:
    1. Map the process by component.
    - Single Project
-It means to make a list of all sap components with their process without mattering the business process.
-Each product line can be a variant for an specific process. e.g: Sales by line
    2. Map the process as ISO Standards
    - Several projects : For each product line
Which cold be the better option in order to:
    - Easy configuration activities
    - Easy design of Unit and integration test
    - Easy activities of Process enhancement and optimization
    Theres another option?
    Thanks
    Alvaro Hernán Rojas R

Hi Alvaro Hernán Rojas R ,
The product line is the hierarchy of the finished goods.
It is pertinent that the finished goods has emerged due to some process(es) carried on the raw material.
Thus logically you should map in solution manager based on the process only.
The macro process while depicts the processes at the highest level. The Business scenarios, Business Process gives a good idea about how you should go about configuring. The Steps/activities helps you to map in to SAP thro' T/Codes.
From the point of view of all of the below three, namely,
    Easy configuration activities
Easy design of Unit and integration test
Easy activities of Process enhancement and optimization,
the option   Map the process as ISO Standards
    - Several projects : For each product line, will be most ideal.
It is the processes that drives the activities. The control activities like internal control etc are all process based.Given these, divorcing the business process from the configuration -as in -is certainly not a good practice.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Ramesh

  • Help Required IN Business Process Monitoring?

    Hi,
i have few clarifications reg BPM in solution Mangager
1.What is monitored in BPM,Business Process interfaces or the business Process data( at does t monitors at data level)?
2.if interfaces are monitored in Solman BPM,how different it is from Netweaver Business process management.?
3.if possible can anyone brief out what XI process monitoring is and how is it different from SOLMAN BPM?
    helpful answers rewareded
    rgds,
    rajesh

    Hello Rajesh,
please refer to https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information --> "Business Process & Interface Monitoring - Part 2" to get a comprehensiver overview about what is available out-of-the-box for BPMon in SolMan.
BPMon in SolMan and BPM in Netweaver adress different target groups and can be seen a complementary functionalities.
BPMon in SolMan is primarily targeting at the 2nd level application support and should ensure a stable and smooth processing of Business Processes from a technical as well as application perspective. The processes have a granularity down on transaction or background job level.
Technical monitoring could be average response time of a transaction or a job cancellation.
Application monitoirng is providing about the throughput numbers of documents like sales orders, deliveries or backlog figures indicating that there are erronuous documents or documents that need manual intervention. Looking at this last aspect it is clear that a second target group is key players on business unit side, like sales reposnibles, plant owners etc.
On interface side you can monitor IDocs, qRFCs, Batch Input session for certain statuses, check if files arrived or do some XI messaged based alerting.
BPM in Netweaver is a technical layer deeper and based especially on XI/PI. So this is an integration engine itself. When you look at the capabilities of XI/PI where you can split or correlate messages with ccBPM this is related to so called integration processes which could be a more detailed sub-process from what is looked at BPMon in SolMan. Other aspects that BPM in Netweaver is supports is Business Activity Monitoring BAM which cannot easily explained with  a few sentences. But here the target groups with BAM are either real business end-users or C-level management for business efficiency analysis.
Hope this answer could clarify a few things.

  • How to learn the Business Process and how it is related to BI?

    Dear Experts,
How to learn the Business Process? for example the business process from finance to sales. As I am more involved in technical development of BI; I dont know or having very hard time to understand what the business process. And how the Business Process is related to BI?
I think if I don't understand the business process than it is very hard to satisfy the User requirements. If you have any documentation please feel free to forward it to [email protected]
I wish you happy new year. Thank you in advance.
    Aslam.

If only plan data entered, try to delete the planning data before delete the object and then re-create it again. Otherwise you may have to leave it as is and change the description for the usage by the different company code.

  • Sol. Landscape - Business Scenarios from Temp. Project: Compare & Adjust ?

    Hi,
In SOLMAN_DIRECTORY, within Business Scenarios, if I were to copy Business Scenarios from a Template Project, is it supposed to help me use the 'Compare and Adjust' functionality ?
I see the icon for this utility, but invariably greyed out at all levels.
The idea is to hold Template Project as the master content provider, even for Support side.
The workaround could be (yet to fully test) to use a Maintenance Project, to compare and adjust and check it in again.
Any ideas welcome - especially, on why the 'Compare and Adjust' icon appears greyed out, in the Solution.
    Best regards,
    Srini

    Hi Andreas,
The news that your colleague has tested it successfully is very encouraging and gives me hope.
That's the way I was testing as well, with limited success. I couldn't finish testing because the the buttons for Check Out/ Check In Requests disappeared from SOLMAN_DIRECTORY suddenly. Then, I got into SAP Notes search etc.
Can you/ your colleague please confirm if my following understanding is correct and suggest changes where it's wrong:
    (1) First, create a Solution and Maintenance Project in the same project language (to get the KW context right)
    (2) Create a few Business Scenario Names in Solution Directory (e.g. Procure to Pay, Order to Cash etc.)  - as manya s required
    (3) Later, assign the Maintenance Project concerned to the Solution, in the tab 'Solution Settings'
Note: (2) is done before (3) since the assignment of a Maintenance Project renders the section greyed out. If it is greyed out, there is nothing to check out at the first place.
    (4) Check out the Blank Scenarios to Maintenance Project
    (5) In SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, I would have already pre-selected the relevant scenarios under 'public' Templates, so that they are available in Maintenance Project's SOLAR01/02 under the Business Scenarios folder
    (6) Now, when I open the Maintenance Project in say SOLAR02, it would list me the scenarios copied from Template in the usual way (as in say, any normal Implementation Project), and below those folders, it would also list the 'Checked Out' name sake Scenarios from the Solution Directory
    (7) I will 'copy' and 'paste' the right Business Processes from the first set of Scenarios (from Template Project) into the Solution Directory blank Scenarios -  while doing so, I will retain the right to 'refer' documents and not copy them
    (8) I would Check In the structure back into Solution Directory
    (9) In say, a months time or so, the Process in Template Project have undergone changes (more process steps added under a process, more documents added/ removed/ changed etc.)
    (10) I would open the Maintenance Project after running SA_PROJECT_UPGRADE for the maintenance project.  I would do the 'Compare and Adjust' function in the regular Scenarios to get the content adjusted

  • Business Process Documentation

    Dear All
    Business Process Documentation
I just want to know foloowing thing sabout Business Process Documentation.
do yuo know where there any documents about Business Process Documentation and system log ?
Edited by: Koji Watanabe on Feb 16, 2012 1:52 AM

    Hellow Watanabe-san
Could you explain little bit mroe about what you are looking
    for ?
Are you looking for the way to document Business Process in SolMan ?
    Or
Are you looking for the way to monitor your business process in
    the backedn system ?
The link that vasanthgobi mentioned is the SAP help on business
    process monitoring.
    Documentation topic
In SAP Solman, you can document your business process in following
2 area. Project area and Solution area. Project area is mainly used
for implementation phase or initial documentation. Solution area is
    used for operation phase.
And to support the documentation, SAP Solman provides several
supporting tools for project area (you can copy the document in
    project area to solution later).
In SolMan 7.1, if you want to document your business process,
    you may have following possibility.
(General motivation for the documentation, please refer to the
    this blog http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/27054.
    And service Market Place
      http://service.sap.com/esacademy  (login in english)
      =>meet the expert =>Replay  Library.
      =>SAP Solution manager =>Solution Documentation )
1.Upload via EXCEL (initial upload) and adjust in project area
<Create templete via project, and create excel content locally
      and upload to project area>
2.Maintain business process by using Business Blue print function
<Using more graphical instead of SolMan screen>
      Also refer to these blogs
      http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/28304
      http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/27212
And service market place link (webinar)
      http://service.sap.com/esacademy  (login in english)
      =>meet the expert =>Replay  Library.
=>SAP Solution manager =>Business Process Blueprint
3.Start initial documentation using RBPD content and adjust it in
    project area
<SAP and IBIS develop analysis content based on the business
process repository. By using this content, you can execute
analysis for ERP and can get process utilization info.
And you can create initial process from this>.
      Also refer to these blogs
      http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/26074
      And service market place link
      http://service.sap.com/rbpd
    4.Document manually in project area
    (Also ARIS integration is possible).
In above case, if you use RBPD content, yes, you have some step
related to the backend system (collecting process execution statistic
in ERP). But in other case, you do not have any activity to ERP.
For RBPD, it collects the data by using job, and you can control
the number of WP to be used. The runtime will be depending your
    ERP system size.
    Business Process Monitoring topic
In SolMan, there are business process monitoring functionality.
Actually, it is not only the monitoring, but also you can use it
    for business process improvement.
Basically in business process monitoring related tools,
    there are 2 main tools
1.Business Process Monitoring tool - Monitoring
2.Business Process Analytics tool - Analysis & benchmarking
    (Also there are dashboard).
Business Process Monitorings enables monitoring of your core
business process from technical and application side.
The tool can monitor specific job(normal job/BW process chain),
interface(IDoc, tRFC, qRFC etc), performance, and also different
types of transaction document like sales order, delivery,
    purchase order, production ordet etc.
For transaction monitoring, there are pre-defined template
    (best practice).
Also it allows to monitor any table (z/y-table also).
And the Analytics tool is the tool based on the BW.
By using this, you can do benchamarking, trend analysis,
    backlog analysis.
In more, I highly recommend to check the series of blog
    by Volker. And FAQ document.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/u/251688346
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/FAQBusinessProcess+Monitoring
There are configuration document in service market place also.

  • Automating Business Process.. Workflow or BPEL??

    Dear All,
I hope you help me in this:
We need to automate all the business processes exists at the work. Currently we are using Oracle database and Oracle Forms and Reports to build all our applications.
The developers are excellent at SQL and PL/SQL. There is not any knowledge about Java or any other programming language.
Should Oracle Workflow be used to automate our business processes? Could it be used from Oracle Forms? or any other Oracle tools in general?
Or we should go for Oracle BPEL instead of Oracle Workflow?
I hope you help me in this
    Emad

The idea is to automate everything. I am working in a university, so, there are many bunisess process such as:
    1. Hiring New Employee: starting from the request of hiring the new employee up to the approving of hiring and signing the contract with this new employee.
    2. Student Process: such as request to drop registered course, enrolling a closed course because of a special conditions... etc
    3. Employees Requests: could be software/hardware maintenance request, could be electrical maitenance...etc
The nice thing that we (as IT department) has worked with the Quality unit at my work and we have documented every business process. So, now we know every business process from it will start and where it will end.
Now, we need to automate this. There is a debation that our developers should develop this system. I have said NO, there are Workflow Engines exist in the IT world and we have to study them and choose the best one for our needs.
We are using Oracle Database and Oracle Forms and Reports. We have excellent working experience in SQL and PLSQL.
Honestly, I have been thinking of Oracle Workflow, but Oracle BPEL beckons me.
Therefore, I am posting this thread for the sake of help from experts here who already has an excellent experience in this

  • Kick off a business process with JMS message

I'm a newbie with a job that's way over my head and I'm thouroughly confused on
the logic involved with kicking off a business process (workflow) through the
reciept of a JMS message. The docs say it can be done. I have a business process
in one project folder of an enterprise app, its start node is a channel subscription.
Can I somehow send a JMS message directly to the business process? (Send a message
NOT from within the weblogic environment, but from outside) I have created a
Message Driven bean in a seperate project folder of the same application as the
business process. From an outside client, I think I might need to invoke the
MDB with a JMS message, then call the business process from there. Is this totally
off-base? What do event generators have to do with any of this?
    Please help.

Yes, you use the event generator.
Open up the Weblogic Integration console, click on Event Generators.
Add a JMS Event generator that listens to the queue you are interested
in, and then select the channel that your process has subscribed to.

  • Business Process Monitering

    Hi,
My company has decided to implement BPM (Business Process Monitering). Can we implement BPM for the Template Project.
What is the difference between "Solution" and "Template project"? Please provide me helpful answers.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sreekala.

    Hi Sreekala
In Solution Manager, we have 2 different areas. One is project and another one is solution.
In both area, we can maintain business process. And we can also copy existing business process from different sources
    (Business Process Repository, Project, Solution).
<Project is more used for implementation and test scenario. Operation is used for operation scenario like busines process monitoring>
So if you have something in project side (template project), you can copy existing processes into solution. And then
you can configure business process monitoring
(remember, business process monitoring uses business process in solution. not project side).
In case, you do not have anything yet, you can also try template BPMon setting that is avaialble in service market place.
It contains important application monitor (transactional document monitor).
If you are enterprise support contract or max attention contract and your SAP backend system is already go live,
I recommend you to take Business Process Analysis  service to have insight of you backend system.
Then it become much clear where to start and how the tool can provide additional benefit.
(in more detail, contact SAP Support Advisory center)
I list up some important information sources. So please take a look at link below.
