Hi All,
Please help in these questions regarding Hierarchy Service Number for External Service Master management we create in AC01. we can enter the other service master in this field and this creates the hierarchy of the Service.
1. How Hierarchy Service Number works?
2. Upto how many levels of this hierarchy goes?
3. Does the IDoc type SRVMAS contains this information ?

Hi,
1. Material(used for material being procured) master and service master(used for services being procured) are two different master details in SAP.
2. service master records to be used while procuring services with item category D, and service master numbers to be entered at service line item level. Same like materials, details like unit, description, service groups, valuation claas needs to be maintained while creation of service master.
4. standard reports are available in SAP to track the services procured based on the service master number.
3 yes. service master data can be used in SRm, all of them can be used.

yes Manish, need to maintain this information in a external system and send it to ECC.
This will be 2 way communication.
Hence need to extract this hierarchy as well need to understand that how its maintained.

SERVICE PO using service master and service PO using Material Type DIEN

Dear Gurus can you differenciate between SERVICE PO using service master and service PO using Material Type DIEN ?

Hi,
Material type DIEN is used for when you offer "SERVICE" to your customer.
When you are procuring "SERVICE" from your vendor, you can use external service management where service master is used (Steps are PO created in ME21N with Item Cat. "D" with Acc. ***. Cat. "K" or "C", ML81N, MIRO & F-53).
In Standard DIEN material type designed for Sales usage only, but you can use DIEN for Purchase also to avoid External Services Management.

Dear Dillibabu,
When you create a service master you avoid repetetive data entry efforts as again and again you do not require keying in the same text for services which can be volumunous. Also you have the option to group the services using the service/material group which can be done in service master. Also you have the option to assign valuation class in the service master for account determination purpose.
When you do the service entry it is just like the Goods receipt even in the back ground a material document is create with movement type 101 which you can see in the PO history. The biggest advantage of using the service entry is the financial implication. When service entry is done A g/l account for ex service account is debited and GR/IR is credited. Which is then cleared at Invoice posting and liability created towards vendor.
If you do not do a service entry you will have to track these manually as to services of what value is performed and inform to finance.

Sinchronization between service master & model service specification

Hi,
We are using service master in MM and we are trying to use the model service specifications. However we are read and seen that the model doesn't change according to the service master. I mean if I set deletion flag to a service, the model services where that service is present doesn't change (the same with changes in price and so on).
Does anybody know if there is other funcionality that work of this way? If not, from the ABAP programming point of view, has anybody achieved this sinchronization, how?

It has to do with your customising. Please test the same with using the standard pricing schema MS0000.

Because account determination possible through material group valuation class.

Using Service masters is mainly for reporting and good use of Service Masters.
You can later run reports to show you how much you spend on a certain service.

Hi,
In ACNR the number range is assigned based on the service category.
Go to SPRO - MM - External Service management - Service master - Define Service Category, please untick the check box for External Number Assignment Without Validation against the respective Service Category and save.
Now try creating a new service master using AC01, it will pick the service master No. from the internal number range maintained against the Service Category

Service Master Enhancement

Hi all,
I need to enhance the service master creation transaction (AC01) to accommodate the following:
1. Hide the service number field to avoid user input (can't find this option in configuration)
2. Generate service number based on the selected Standard Service Catalog item structure (service master will be created with reference to the SSC). For example: FNB: Food and Beverage --> 10: Catering Services --> 06: Fresh Fruits will generate a service number like FNB10060000
Can these be archived by using user exit? If yes, what user exit that should be used? Or I need a custom screen to hide the service number field?

For the question no 1 , Don't enable ext no assignment in IMG for Service Master->Define service category .. By doing this , system is going to generate the number and user won't be able to give the external number
For question no 2 , I feel this can be achieved only by the enhancement .

Service Master for Maintenance

Hi MM Consultants
My client wants to know SAP Ability to record the reasons for the change of maintenance venor for the asset in creating service PO.
for eg for an asset in AMC i choose a particular vendor for creating service PO and latter change the vendor i need to
1. Track the vendor changes.
2. Also need to know what master datas a service master can handle from asset maintenance point of view such as asset details, details of maintenance services etc..

I have a equipment for eg a Fork lift and i am giving AMC to a Vendor X and i am not satisfied by their service and changing the AMC to another vendor Y.
Where can i track in the service master or service PO for that equipment that the reason for change in vendor for that asset.

Valuation class in service master linked with G/L accounts

Dear Experts,
In service master what is the significance of Service category & service group? Is it required to assign G/L account like material type is required in material master? Is it necessary to hv 1:1 relationship in valuation class & G/L account in service master? Is their any way that we can see the G/L account in service master? Pls help to clarify my doubts.

I assigned valuation class in service master and using same service master for service PO creation, but while doing GR system picks WRX account without valuation class but not the GL account assigned to the valuation class in service master?
I tried with assigning service group/ material group at PO item over view to same valution class in OMQW but still not able to post to separate GL account in OBYC. Is there anything missing?
As far as my understanding service PO WRX entries will be posted to the GL account witout valuation class.

Service master i want to define the valuation class

Dear All,
I have one issue, we accounts ppl have given the G/l against each type of expenses which need to be captured as per the service level.
i want to ask whether the service master can be made same as the material master in the sense we give the valuation class to each material type and then we give the g/l account to each valuation class by one to one relation.
is there provision to give the valuation class at the service category....
and then we give the g/l account as one to one relation to valuation class.

I couldnot follow what you mean about service group...
But we are handling the same situation is...
Create Account Category Referance in OMSK for Services separately...
Maintain Diff G/L Acc. as per our requirement and link it with Account Category Referance in OMSK..
While Creating Service Category( It will act as a Material type) for your service Requirement.... in OLMSRV---> Service Master--> Define Service Category....... assign the ACR as per your requirement...
So Whenever you create Service Master in AC03 ....the system gives you the option to which G/L account you want post that particular service expenses....and according to your requirement you can select...
This is a less complecated procedure....and I think lot of places they are following this way only....

Problem in uploading long text in service master through AC02

while iam recording the LSMW through T Code AC02 the system is not linking to the longtext in service master. Kindly guide me in this regard to upload service master with service long text together

I have the same problem where the long text is not being updated through a AC02 BDC session. Did you find a solution to the problem yet?

Service Master Catalog in SRM

Hi All,
My environment is SRM 4.0 Extended Classic.
Can the Service Master Catalog in R/3 be used (transfers/replicated) in SRM 4.0? If so, what is the step by step process?
Also, can there be replication from SRM to backend, and from backend to SRM to keep the catalogs in sync?
We are just trying to get the full functionality out of our services procurement. If any one has ideas and would like to share, please feel free.
