'MMC cannot open the file C:\Windows\SAPMMC.MSC'

Hi
When I try and run SAPMMC on the desk top I get the error :
'MMC cannot open the file C:\Windows\SAPMMC.MSC'
this is because the file does not exists, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of the MMC'
I have full permissions on this server, has anyone seen this error before?
The file C:\Windows\SAPMMC.MSC does exist, infact there is a .1, .2, .3 and .4 version in C:\Windows.
Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
Looks like your mmc dll is corrupted, with your install and uninstall of software.
    Two Options:
    1. Upgrade the Kernel with latest Patch level, which comes with new SAPMMC.dll file
    OR
    2. Just download the SAPMMC*.sar file from service market place and extract in exe directory, since it is windows re-booting the server doesn't hurt.
Hope this helps. points are welcome.

Windows 2008 R2 - I just started receiving this when i log in, and also when i try to manage the machine:

This may be because the file does not exist , is not an MMC console , or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file.
This always worked before, and works for other users just not me on this particular box. This is a production box and i need a resolution quick please. Thanks in advance.

  • MMC cannot open the file msisa.msc

Hi, I've been dealing with this problema for a few hours and been searching all over to find no solution to it.
    I have installed a TMG 2010 SP2 server on a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Server.
The installation goes OK, I'm installing first the EMS server. When I try to open the console I get the following Error:
I have already checked the MMC versión on the OS is 3.0.
I've already reinstalled quite a few times.
I have disabled the antivirus and even uninstalled it from the server.
When I try to open the TMG Console by first opening the mmc and adding the snap-in, I get the console tree but no content anywhere else.
The installation files have already SP1 and SP2 with the latest update rollup.
    The computer is domain joined.
The user account is a local admin.
The server had the latest updates installed, so I tried uninstalling some of them, even the IE11 that was installed, but still got the same problem.
I also have another server and getting the same problem.
I have used those same installation files before and didn't get this issues.
Any ideas on why this is happening?
    Thanks for your help!

I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file me be open in another application."Please help I really need to get this file open.

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X  or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

no problems with 9.5.0 or 10.1.1 with activated protected mode
is that known? any other workaround?
    thanks

    Hi,
I also have Reader 10.1.2 installed on my machine and I also cannot open a link in the PDF, that will eventually call an exe file. I don't think that there would be different behaviour on your machine. So, I think, now this is the expected behaviour Reader 10.1.2 onwards.

  • Error opening CHM file (Cannot open the file: mk:@MSITStore)

    Hi,
I'm getting an error opening a CHM file (Cannot open the file: mk:@MSITStore). I have tried the following solutions, but neither of them worked:
Deleted the CPD file, reopened the project, and recompiled.
Ran MJ's Diagnostics report and recompiled.
    I'm using RH10 and Windows 7.
I have lots of other projects, and none of them result in this error. I can't think of anything else to fix it. I have seen a few threads on this issue, but none of them have lead me to any solutions that work for me. I'm hoping that starting a new thread will provide visibility and allow someone to share a solution.
    Thanks,
    Amy

    ---UPDATE---
I was able to fix this by generating the WebHelp and then regenerating the CHM file. I'm not sure why this worked, but it did.
However, I'm also seeing this issue with a different project now, and this "fix" isn't fixing that one. So I still need an actual solution. At least for now, the first project is "fixed."
    Thanks!
    Amy

  • "Cannot open the file"

    Hi.
I was working with CS6 when I exported a file to pdf and saved it later this morning. Now I'm trying to open it but I recieve the next message:
"Cannot open the file xxxx.indd. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."
Also, the file seems to be like 5 GB of weight or so.
Anyone has any solution? I've checked a few posts of this discussion forum about the same message but none of them was helpful for my case.
Thanks in advance and excuse my English.

You seem to already understand that the file is corrupt, so there's little probability that it can be recovered in ID. One possibility, but one I've not used successfully yet, can be found at Adobe Community: Program for restoring corrupted InDesign documents (for Windows only)
Another possibility is the paid service from Markzware: Bad InDesign or Quark File Recovery Submission Form
I have used that service, and it recoverd the text from a very long file successfully, but the index markers were lost, so check your results carefully if you go that route.

    Hi Emily,
It seems to be windows profile related issue could you please try to delete the user preferences under the registries for which you are getting the issue for the particular users.
Note: The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files before you edit the registry. For information on how to edit the registry key, view the 'Changing Keys and Values' online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
    1. Go to start programs->run->RegEdit.
    2. Then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER< Software< BusinessObjects<Suite 11.5<Business Objects.
    3. Select the user preferences and delete the same.

  • Cannot open the file [filename].indd, ...

I have some older InDesign .indd files on a DVD that I'm trying to open in InDesign CS3. When I double-click the file, InDesign starts, but then I get the message "Cannot open the file [filename]. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be opened in another application." I moved the folder with the files to my desktop -- same result. Curious thing is that the icons on these files are not correct -- just a generic windows file icon. Newer files that I created on this machine are fine. My OS is Vista. Any ideas?

In the past when I've seen that, it's been an indication of a corrupt
file. You might want to read this:

How do I resolve the issue Cannot open the file ".indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing , or the file may be open in another application?

Shouldn't the CC version be able to open any file created in an older version on InDesign?
    Yes, it ought to.
If the older file wasn't yours (if someone emailed it to you,or burned it on a disc, or whatever), then I am almost willing to bet you a beverage in the city of your choice that it's not a complete InDesign file. That is, maybe it was zipped and renamed, or the beginning or end of the file was chopped off during download, or something like that. The only reason I'm not actually making the bet is that there is a remote chance that I'd lose, and maybe you're in Adelaide or Khabarovsk or somewhere where the cost of airfare to me would make that bet a very expensive bet for me to to lose. So no latte for you if I'm wrong!
The script that Jongware posted will tell you what version of InDesign made the file to begin with. Additionally, if someone did something like rename YourFile.PDF to YourFIle.INDD, it'll report that it's Not An InDesign File. Because while SpectrumPCS is kinda right and that message can be generated when attempting to open a CS5 file in CS3 or whatever, it also spits out the same message when you just try to open an Autocad file, or a Windows system file, or a PDF, or any file that InDesign actually cannot open at all.

There are a few things to try.
First, if this file came to you vial email attachment, it could have been corrupted. Ask her to zip the file and send it again. That sometimes helps.
I suppose there's a chance that the file is already zipped, so see if that's the case and unzip it if so.
If the file name doesn't end with .indd, add it and see if that helps.
If you are double-clicking, try File>Open from within InDesign.
Last (and I know this sounds like a joke, but I've seen it many times), sometimes people attach a Mac Alias or Windows Shortcut instead of the actual file. What is the file size? If it's really small, that might be the reason.
Also, no offense intended if some of this sounds like stuff you have already tried. I don't know what you know, so I'm just spit-balling.
