MMC card and MP3 player - 1/2 capacity after format?

Hi,
I got an MP3 player (1 Gb) and a MMC card (2 Gb) and after format in a USB card reader from OS X 10.4.7, they are now 512 Kb and I Gb respectively. MS Dos or Mac format doesn't matter.
Is it a USB 1 or 2 problem?
Any one know about this?
EF

Well I have solved the problems and I post here in case others encounter them.
The MMC/SDC card was fixed by getting a true USB 2.0 card reader, the one I had was about USB 1 & 5/8 ths.
The MP3 player was a rip off, sold as 1 Gb but really only 512 Kb see:

  • Reduced capacity after formatting

One of my HDD drives is showing a reduced capacity after formatting. Why is it doing this?

Binary (where a kilobyte equals 1024 bytes) and Decimal (where a kilobyte equals 1000) are the two different number systems that are used to express units of storage capacity. Industry standard is to display storage capacity in decimals, but some programs measure the capacity of a drive in binary. Hope this answers your question!

  • ID3 Tags and MP3 player

    Hello,
I can't afford a new iPod at the moment so brought an Archos MP3 player. It is a drag and drop device so all I need to do is drop the MP3 file in the music folder on the MP3 player. The only issue I am having is that the songs are not labeled correctly once I go to play them on the MP3 player despite being labeled correctly in iTunes. Can anyone suggest why this may be happening and how I can fix the problem?
    Thanks
    MAtt

Can't say I really know. MP3 tags come in different versions, iD3 version 1, then ID3 versions 2.1-2.4 Maybe your player needs a different version? You could try making copies of a file with different versions. Oh, a file can have both version 1 and 2, but I'm not sure if iTunes is the most flexible editor when it comes to doing that. You can assign versions under the advanced menu.
Even given the above, I think there are still incompatibilities in tagging. I know people have reported seeing tags in some programs but them not being there in iTunes. I have viewed tags with one application only to have a perfectly understandable comment filed entry turn into gibberish in iTunes.
Musorg is a free tagger (not the smoothest interface IMHO). You could make a copy of a file, edit, and see if the tags appear on your player. The problem with Musorg is it has a very limited set of fields and will delete any others, so I don't see this as a real solution. MediaRage is a lot more capable but is shareware. OSX is sorely lacking on the free tagger options since most people just use iTunes (which has its limitations when it comes to tagging).

  • Two Questions in One: Installation and MP3 Player

OK, so I am working on a flash site and want to drop in a
simple, small Flash MP3 player. Someone I worked with said I could
do this with components pretty easily (I have no clue, never used
them), BUT I can't install Flash CS3 on my machine.
I bought CS3 in one of the downlaoded bundles (the Master
Collestion). It evaluates your computer before installing
programs.and the bundle requires 1 gig of ram to install even
though Flash itself only requires 512 megs. So of course, I have
512, and cannot install anything. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Does
anyone know a way around this, besides a RAM upgrade?
So I have Flash MX 2004 still loaded on my machine. Does
anyone know where I can grab me a simple Flash player that is not
    component based?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Peter,
for #1 you can use the method described here http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1808
#2 - You need to create $0 used defined shipping option for the pickup and it should indeed show on your invoice.
    Cheers,

  • MP3 player loses 75% memory upon formatting for Mac?! Can it be recovered?

I recently pruchased a third party MP3 player. (yeah... I know)
In order to access it on the Mac, someone told me I need to format it when it comes up asking to be initialized. I then via "Disk Utility" volume format, selected MS-DOS file system and erased.
My once 4gb MP3 player is now 962MB!?!
Is there any way to recover that very valuable disk space?
    Please advise!

I got it; Formatted FAT and got it going.

  • On screen display and FN+ buttons don't work after format

I formatted my entire HDD and re-installed windows 7 pro. After doing the format and re-install the on screen display doesn't show up when I adjust volume or enable/disable caps lock like it did previously before I re-installed. I've installed the hotkey driver, on screen display, display interface driver, ran the Lenovo update utility several times, installed all windows updates. Is there somewhere where I have to enable OSD (on screen display)? I am sure this is just something small that I am overlooking but if anyone has any help please let me know! sorry if this has been posted already, I tried searching before making a post but didn't have any luck.

  • Will the 3300 I Trigue 2.1 3300 Work with An mp3 Player

I am ordering the 3300 ITrigue and I don'tk now if I can set it up with an mp3 player or not. I know in back of it the subwofer only has an output not and input....if there is a way could someone let me know thatnks Denny

    Denny,
There's only input jack for connection to audio source from the subwoofer. If you're purchasing this speaker mainly for connection to your MP3 player then it should be fine but if you're planning to input additional audio source to the speaker such as to a computer then you may need to get a stereo splitter adaptor so that you can connect both the computer and MP3 player together to the speaker.
There's a copy of the startup manual guide for the speaker at the Product Documentation page which you can download for reference.

  • Mp3 player, please help

I want to write and Mp3 player in Java. For now I just want it to work in the command line and I will add the GUI later. The basic functionality I want is play, pause/stop, fast forward and rewind, volume up/down. I have heard that Java.Sound used to have a built in mp3 player but that they took it out because of copyright issues. Too bad.
I have allready found some nice tutorials on how to play Wav files. I really need to find a good decoder that can convert in real time and use it in my program. Also fast forward and rewind is giving me problems even with a basic wave file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially if someone can provide some source code for a very basic Mp3 player.Thank you.

    Hi
I too am interested in writing a Mp3 player but am unsure what is the best programming language to write it in. Java is my prefered language, but it seems that it will not be posssible as their are no mp3 libraries that support mp3 file playing in the current version of java.
I could use javazoom support classes but I prefer to write the programme myself.
So when will Sun re-release java, so it can play mp3 files?
Or what other language would be apporiate for a mp3 player?
    Thanks

if you mean to run +microsloth outlook+ on the touch, the answer is no.
click here for tech specs as to which audio formats are supported
the touch will sync your contacts, calendars, and will let you surf the web.
i found an app in the iTunes app store called "iMExchange" which claims:
+With iMExchange you will never again be without your vital Outlook notes, tasks, or out-of-office status. Add a task on your device, sync and watch as it pops up in Outlook within seconds. Better still - iMExchange connects directly to your Exchange server, no other software is required.+
    Features
+· Tasks View: Allows you to keep on track of all your tasks and manage your objectives on the road. Reminders are not supported.+
+· Notes View: Gives you access to your Outlook notes in real-time.+
+· Out Of Office: Set your Out-Of-Office status and message remotely.+
+· Contacts View: Search your contacts and Global Address List remotely.+
+Setup is simple. Hit the "Add Account" button and enter your Outlook Web Access settings into the application.+
+iMExchange supports standard installations of Exchange 2003 (SP1) and 2007 with Outlook Web Access enabled. You must however, test your system's compatibility first.+

  • Looking for memory card(s), GPX MP3 player

I have a GPX MP3 digital player, the MW3337, and am looking for memory card(s) as it only holds 1GB.  I do not have the manual any more.  My questions are; What have you used and liked for memory cards, what will work best for this model, and any other information that is relevant to the MW3337 and memory cards.  thanks

    Hey drumset09 -
In examining this unit, it appears that any SD card or MMC card will work for this unit.  You have options up to 16 gb presently.  I would recommend whatever size will fit your needs.  There is a plethora of choices out there these days.
    I hope this helps!

  • Maximum capacity MMC cards with the 9500? I

What is the maximum capacity MMC card the 9500 can take? I've seen many mentions of 1GB and 2GB on these forums, but I've also heard of the 9500 having issues with 2GB cards.

Personally I've only ahad small video clips on previous and now 9500 communicators and al been OK in terms of playback.
However I have a large album (CD and vinyl) collection and when copying (for my own personal use etc etc) I'm putting on now six half gigabyte cards - which I hot-swap nearly daily because of podcasts that I can quickly add with the card reader from the music adaptor pack.
I've got mp3's of 50mb + and it's been fine - I assume much to do with quality of recording.
Having said all this - tehcnology is moving faster than a sack of coal off a cliff so I assume my daughter's slim ipod capabiity will be under the hood of 'son of 9500'!
As a serous point tho' Iv e got several full size mmc cards of .5gb at £35 -£30 a pop. While I was happy to pay for these at the time the 9500 also takes the reduced sized cards with their adaptors. These cards are of course prevalent in the N series so I suppose for 'son of 9500' I shouls assume I should prepare for smaller cards.
