MMC missing on Hyper-V Core install

I'm trying to import a certificate on my primary hyper-v server.
Part of the process is running 'mmc' from the command prompt on the server.
When I RDP onto the Hyper-V server and run mmc from the command prompt it cannot be found.
I looked in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 and sure enough mmc.exe is _not_ there.
Going back to Server Tools on my Win81 PC under the Tools menu there is a Certificate Authority option but when I click that I get a "cannot manage Active Directory Certificate Services" error - which I'm not surprised by since I haven't installed
AD.
So in a workgroup environment how do run the Certificates Manager on my primary Hyper-V server?
Any ideas?

Hyper-V core 2012 R2 - Unmanageable

Hi everybody,
Got a fun one, kinda. So started to upgrade from hyper-v 2012 core 2012 to R2. Migrated the VMs. Formatted the system drive. Reinstalled from scratch. Added to the domain. Rebooted.
I could remote desktop, connect with Hyper-V manager.
Connected back to the hyper-v 2012 R2 core with RD, installed iSCSI and set the target, installed and configured MPIO. Rebooted.
And I lost access from every where to the Hyper-V Core. The only way I can access them is via remote powershell sessions. Server manager does not work, I can't ping anymore, can't RD to them, can't SNMP either. They are in the same OU as the other servers
still running 2012 normal.
Any idea why, after the second reboot most access went down the drain ?
I feel like the system thinks it is not on a domain network anymore and thus the firewall started. But even stopping the firewall did not help for one of the 2 servers. And I d rather not disable the FW anyway. I also tried hvremote, no luck.

I am using the same plan for the MAC as for the IP. The last 3 octets of the MAC are the same as the last 3 octets of the IP. That is for the VM.
The thing is, every time I install Hyper 2012 R2, create a LBFO team, add the management adapter, that management adapter always get 00-15-5d-00-00-00. And I install from CD. If I remove it and recreate it, same thing, still get 00-00-00. I just think it
is painful the way the hosts are setup in Hyper-V. I come from VMWare world where a virtual switch can have multiple adapters and hold multiple VLAN. In Hyper-V you have to create the aggregate to support the virtual switch. I also never had MAC issues in
VMWare and I keep getting them in Hyper-V be it on hosts or VMs.
But then I am using the free tools available at the moment. Maybe VMM would work better but we can't pay that. If we were to go for paying solution, VMWare essentials would work better for us. We are kind of right between big enough to need the tools but
not big enough that they are truly worth it. At least the Microsoft ones.
Anyway, going back to my original issue:

The remote desktop is set via GPO at domain level and it works perfectly fine for all except Hyper-V 2012 R2 core. And the VMs are running 2012 R2 standard / datacenter.
The Hyper-V core 2012 hosts work perfectly fine. Am I missing something specific to Hyper-V core 2012 R2 ?

Hyper-v core physical harddisk

I am running a Hyper-v core 2012 server and I want to add 2 physical disks to a VM. These will be setup in raid1 after they have been connecting.
I have done some research but it is difficult to find information about this related to the "core" version, and lots about the GUI way in server 2012.
Are these steps correct:
- Offline the disks using diskpart (They are new disks I will get today)
- Add an SCSI controller
- Add both disks to the SCSI controller
Do I miss a step somewhere?
I appreciate any help.

I recently installed Panda Internet Security 2012 (about 12 days ago), initially iTunes worked fine as usual but within the last few days I've been unable to open it with the same messages appearing. I've read through some of these pages and tried everything that's been advised, uninstalling and reinstalling while internet and laptop security is swithched off, downloading tools to completely remove anything related to iTunes, tried it in Safe Mode, nothing has worked. I've also noticed that in the start menu when I click on iTunes, it says '(empty)' where it should have the logo and ability to start the program, does this mean it doesn't download + install properly each time I've tried? Any help would be enormously appreciated.

What can I install on WS2012 Host when Hyper-V is installed ?

I think , that my question is very simple, but I couldnt find answer to everything I need.
I have one host where WS2012 R2 Std is installed with Hyper-V role only. Then I have 2 VMs installed on this host. So, my WS2012 license covers everything If I am right.
I would like to install some other software on Hyper-V host but Iam not sure If I can do it. For example, APC management tool, Backup Exec V-Ray 2014 media server with SQL database, Dell Server Administrator, Nagios NSClient.. Let`s say that all software
belongs to category "support/backup tools"
If I understand correctly, I can`t install any other role if Hyper-V is installed on this host. But what about other software? I want to be 100% compliant with the licensing.

You are right about trying to assure they are "support/backup tools", but you left one phrase off. It should be "support/backup tools for the Hyper-V host". If any of these tools are used for purposes other than managing the
Hyper-V host, then that would use one instance of the rights of the license.

I've had this printer for awhile and it has worked perfectly.
Just out of nowhere...
I'm getting an error message that says "The Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed" . A short animation plays but i can't figure out what it's tell me to do.

Missing Component in Dreamweaver Trial Install?

I was hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I am having with a Dreamweaver trial I am evaluating. I downloaded and installed CS4 trial the other day with no issues. Then my computer crashed and windows automatically did a restore. When my computer came back up, Dreamweaver was not there as I probably had not rebooted since I was initially trying it. Now, I download the trial again and get some sort of "missing component" and Dreamweaver doesnt install fully and therefore doesnt work. Thoughts?

Unless the uninstall option appears in the installed programs list, you may possibly have to delete the program manually, run the cs4 clean-up script then reinstall Dreamweaver, as your reg entries etc will be corrupted for the installation.

Actually, with one server being Intel and the other being AMD, you cannot cluster them. Nor can you do live migration because of the different processor types.
In regards to the management of the Hyper-V hosts, it is much easier to keep them both in the same domain. You can manage them if they are not part of the domain, but it requires more set-up, so I would keep them in the domain, particularly for your
home lab.

I think there might be information there on how to reset Time Machine to do a full backup. I think you basically have to reset it and start over.

Printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed

hp officejet 6699 won't print - gives message "printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed." I have unplugged as instructed and that did not work. I replaced all of the cartridges and that did not work. It's over a year out of warranty and I don't know where to take it. I didn't want to have to buy a new one just yet. Is approx 2 years the life of an all-in-one now?? Can anyone tell me what to try? Thanks!

Hi pip3, Can you remember what you were doing when the error occured? Was there a specific event that triggered the message? Core install - no man pages & can not eject cdrom solaris 10

I did a custom core install for solaris 10. I thought I installed all the packages needed, as well as all the dependacies.
I have no man pages!
I can not eject cdrom, I get an error:
"No such file or directory"
When I type vold I also get an error:
"fatal: vol-init failed (cant communicate with kernel)
I can not start in services by:
svcadm enable vold
How do I fix?

I have fixed the vol_init error
touch /reconfigure;init 6

Hi,
For AutoVue/Enovia issues it is best to log a new service request to the Enovia support team first and if needed the Enovia support team will contact the AutoVue support team. A few things which are going to be needed when creating a new SR:
1. Need to clarify if this is a new issue (Development related) or if this is from a released version of the integration.
2. If this is from a released version of the integration need to know if this issue just started happening? What has changed for this issue to start happening?
3. Need to know the AutoVue ISDK version used to build the integration.
4. Need to know the AutoVue version.
5. Need full logs (AutoVue and Enovia integration) set to debug.
I think you should also check the value set for the LOCALE parameter in the applet definition. The log seems to indicate that the current value would be "debug". If this is the case please make sure to use one of the supported locale values as stated on page 59 of the AutoVue Admin Guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37436_01/otn/pdf/E37319_01.pdf):
