MMS + Nokia PC Suite + 6230i

Hi,
I just installed the new Nokia PC Suite 7
and I have a few issues :
MMS are not being able to be sent or saved : every time I try to create a MMS and send or save it, I get the message "Failed to send the message"
2nd issue : I'm unable to sync my mobile phone with Outlook anymore. It was working flawlessly with the ancient version 6 or Nokia PC Suite. I restarted both the computer and the mobile phone. But I can see the contacts and browse the phone without problem (so the bluetooth pairing is correct). It's just Outlook sync which is not working.
I'm using Windows XP SP3, up to date, Outlook 2003 SP3
and my mobile phone is a 6230i V03.40 (23-05-05)
support appreciated ...

When the question on the phone screen pops up(when you connect the cable) , something like" allow data storage"? ANSWER NO/REJECT, that will activate "PC Suite mode" in the phone and Windows starts to install the PC Suite USB drivers.
I have tried de-activating the storage mode to no avail. Whatever I do in whatever combination the PC suite does not recognise the phone is connected. I have tried upgrading to the latest version but this has had no effect. I am using the the recomended DKU-2 USB cable. Any ideas anyone?

  • Nokia PC Suite 6.83 - No longer able to drag and d...

    Hi folks,
Having upgraded to Vista, I have lost the ability to drag and drop text messages from the PC Suite Messages Folder to my PC which was my preferred manner of backing up the text messages, when I was using Windows XP as my platform. Is this facility available to Vista users, or will it be introduced with a later update of the Nokia PC Suite software.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    T Johnson.

I only discovered this with V6.84 - and because PC Suite has been such a b'stard in the past I assumed it was just a messed up installation (and not worth the effort of any attempt to uninstall/reinstall etc. etc. etc.) - but your experience confirms mine (Vista Home Premium); it probably installed OK and just doesn't work properly.
What REALLY hacks me off is that the PC Suite UI uses Windows Explorer Windows (or good simulacra - who can tell?), and to blithely ignore a standard aspect of UI operations is absolutely guaranteed to confuse and aggravate users - and absolutely criminal. How long did I spend trying to work out what was wrong - and to find a work-around? Too long.
I'm sure it worked before on Vista before (could be wrong though) - though I was *amazed* that whatever version I installed it did install correctly and connected to my 6230i...
If it is eventually fixed I will then have a dilemma: do I install the update to avoid the copy workaround aggravation or risk the whole installation collapsing into another Nokia information black-hole?

  • 9500 view and backup mms using pc suite

    Hi,
    I am using Nokia 9500 (RA-2, v05.22(01))
I have some no problem in viewing and backing up my SMS with  Nokia Communication Centre
    (PC suite 7.1.30.8)
But I wanted to view and back up my MMS
Is there anyway to backup the MMS with PC suite
because my MMS wont show in the Nokia Communication Centre.
I read that it need MMSSync to be installed on the phone.
I tried to install the Nokia Multimedia Factory, but it said "Some Component cannot be found"
I tried to re-install both, but the same problem occur when i started the Multimedia Factory.
     Thanks,
    Vint

    Hi darksquaru,
I have checked in Nokia N 95 V 30.0.015 RM-159 using Nokia PC Suite 7.1.30.8, it backup-ed two MMS on the phone and the same can be viewed in noki application(Noki is an application, where you view the contents of the backup file .nbu etc.,)  and those MMS also can be viewed in Nokia Communication centre also ... I dont have similar to your device 9500
One thing is sure that Content copier will backup the MMS too, once backup is over, it will generate a log report, from which you will come to know what all are the contents it had backup-ed from your device.

  • Need help with Nokia PC Suite please

    Hi
I have a Nokia 6230i and have always used Nokia PC Suite to transfer information. Last night I connected my phone to my computer as per usual (via DKU-5) and nothing happened. The [hone recognised it had been connected, but no phones were shown as connected on Nokia PC Suite. I tried uninstalling the phone drivers (and my computer recognised the phone on reconnect and installed them again) and re-installing PC Suite (two different versions).
How can I fix this? Thanks.

  • Fine tunning the new Nokia Ovi suite 2.0.2.42

    Hi,
I just installed Nokia Ovi suite and have configured some settings but the followings are either not available or can't be configured:
SMS , call and battery notifications are missing as compared to Nokia PC Suite
Calendar cannot be viewed , I can only see (contacts , photos , messaging and Music) on the home screen
Device backup time cannot be set
Sync period with MS Outlook cannot be set
Calendar items that are older than 4 weeks cannot be synced
Under tools - options - device sync , I didn't select the message folder to be synced but the software has already synced SMS messages between the phone and computer! I didn't want to do that
Cannot create MMS message as opposed to Nokia PC Suite
In short the interface is cool but there are many features that are available in Nokia PC suite that are missing from Nokia Ovi suite
Any fix to any of the above issues would be appreciated

  • Nokia PC Suite Equivalent for iPhone

    Hello
Anyone who has used a Nokia phone will have enjoyed the Nokia PC Suite. Not only did it sync calendars and contacts, but it also had desktop apps for sending SMS, MMS and editing contacts and calendar entries on the phone itself. (Not to mention Windows Explorer integration so you could "browse" the phone's internal and external storage.)
Now that synchronisation with Outlook seems so difficult and error prone, simple tools such as a calendar and contacts editor would really prove useful. I read somewhere that this would impose phone firmware issues, but that's nonsense. Not much more functionality would be required over that already used by iTunes to sync contacts and calendars. These apps could be built into iTunes "Manage Contacts", "Manage Calendar" - just reads/writes to the connected handset.
Is such a thing ever likely to be produced or can someone recommend a third party product that already offers similar functionality?

Is such a thing ever likely to be produced
Very doubtful. The iPhone is designed to be synced to existing contact/calendar applications on your computer. I would guess that most people already use desktop programs to manage their contacts and calendars (separately to iTunes) - so why would Apple want to spend time developing something that duplicates existing functionality, requiring users to use additional tools to manage their data?
Now that synchronisation with Outlook seems so difficult and error prone
In another thread, you state you are using Outlook 2002. Apple states Outlook 2003 or 2007 should be used.
On Mac OS X, the built-in Address Book and iCal applications are used, but I don't know whether Windows has standard built-in contact and calendar applications. If it does, then you're more likely to see future support for those, than get Apple developed ones.
it also had desktop apps for sending SMS, MMS
The iPhone doesn't have the required functionality for sending SMS & MMS from a computer.
Not to mention Windows Explorer integration so you could "browse" the phone's internal and external storage.
The iPhone doesn't have a browsable file system or disk mode, like some other phones. There are a few Mac & PC applications which provide limited functionality like this, but for security reasons the iPhone's file system is quite locked down, so they can't do much.

  • Nokia PC suite & spelling features

Hi to everyone who loves me!
I'm a new brand user and first off I'd like to introduce myself to all of you: my name is Stefano and my phone is the Nokia 6230i.
    Right, my today question is:
Is there any way to check my spelling after I wrote a new message with the help of Nokia Pc suite?
What I mean is that: I'm use to connect my 6230i by a bluetooth dongle after that I start to reply and/or write my sms using the Nokia Pc suite but until now I couldn't find any way to spell check what I wrote inside the Pc suite.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve that problems?

  • About nokia ovi suite gprs browse

    Dear sir,
Have a good time with nokia !
I want to know that, will i able to work in PC by GPRS connection with nokia OVI PC suite with my
nokia N97 Phone. Because 3G and WLAN is not available there.
    Thank You

    Download and install Ovi suite:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite
Connect your phone via USB Cable, select "PC Suite" mode on phone when it prompts.
Wait for "Support Softwares" to install, (you might need to accept installation on phone screen), When Ovi suite tells you, its now connected.
On right side you'll see connect to internet, click that, First time it'll ask for settings, (Select your operator and Country) click ok.
Now every time you just need to connect it to PC, in "PC Suite" Mode, open ovi suite, and hit "Connect to internet".
P.S it could be very expensive, if you don't have Data Plan,

  • Issue with Nokia Ovi Suite!

hi! i have upgraded from nokia 6230i (i used for 6 years) to E7. i have certain problems.
To sync my contacts, photos, calander entries, messages, i had downloaded nokia ovi suite on my PC (Laptop Dell Latitude E6400) and then conected my device via USB. my device showed up on the suite and started charging and i was able to sync every thing. i did this 4 to 5 times. however now when i connect my device to my PC my device does not show up in the ovi suite but my device shows Nokia Ovi Suite- Active! i have not been able to sync via USB since. whenever i connect my device via USB to my PC a dialog box appears on my PC and shows USB device not recognised. i have tried every thing from enabling the device through Device Managar, installing drivers, uninstalling the device, reinstalling the device but the same dialog box appears again when i connect via USB. I am able to sync via Bluetooth my device shows in the Ovi suite but downloading apps, games, songs, software updates etc., cant be done.  Also for charging the device when i connect the charges it takes 4-5 times to show the charging info! and thereafter the device starts charging. I thought there might be a problem with the USB cable but it works fine with my friend's Nokia X2. i have checked the USB ports on my PC but they are also working fine with other things like USB mouse, Modem etc. I know my last resort is to visit customer care. but if any body can help me i will be realy greatful. I have the latest software version of Nokia Ovi Suite on my PC and also my device.

    Hi,
I have the same problem running Vista and Ovi ver. 3.0.0.290. I ran through your steps but no change. It's a brand new N8 and the phone will not show as a New Device via the USB connection. Although configured to start when connecting the phone via USB, Ovi will not start so I assume the connection is not established between Ovi and the phone. My laptop sees the phone just fine and files can be transfered vie Explorer. Any other ideas? Much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Nokia pc suite support problems

when i plug the usb cable to my e52 and start the nokia pc suite application it said that i need to install support app to my phone when i accept the instalation on my phone and prepare to install, my phone give me "unable to install"
    what could be the problem.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You have to format your mobile. For that, Uninstall Nokia PC Suite from your PC and restart it. Now download the latest version of Nokia PC Suite from Nokia website and install it in your PC and restart it again. Now backup your mobile's contacts, messages, notes, calender and bookmarks via Nokia PC Suite backup utility (You cannot backup MMS and email without PC Suite support). Don't backup anything else like settings or user files etc. Now backup your images, videos and music files using Windows Explorer. Now format your memory card. Now type this command *#7370# (default security code is 12345). Connect your mobile with PC and wait for the message for installing PC Suite support. If message not appear then run Nokia PC Suite, click on Help and click "Reinstall Nokia PC Suite support". Install everything and wait for a minute. Restart your mobile and restore your backup. This will solve your problem. Now install applications you like. Good luck...

  • Nokia PC Suite [Bugs, Everywhere!]

Well I've finally started this needing thread that almost alot of other people would of started if it wasnt for me.
Nokia pc suite is proberly The program with The most Bugs i've ever seen.
    Nokia,
Why cant you just use beta testers to test the software before releasing unstable versions that arent working for anyone.
Alot of other people agree with me and Nokia customers are going for this other "GForce Software" Not surprising. Nokia please fix up your PC Suite software, The features are awesome but the bug factor should Be none Or even low. I can rate the bug factor for this software at the moment: High.

    Since: December, 2006.

Yes! Incredible. I´ve just spent two evenings trying to make the PC Suite work. Uninstalled and installed it several times on both a Vista and a XP PC. Getting the USB-driver to recognize my phone (or my wifes) is near to impossible, and when I finally manage the software crashes doing different tasks ( like trying do do a backup or deleteing several messages from within the communications center )
Your software is the worst disaster I´ve ever seen. As a senior developer I have encountered many different systems and software, but nothing even vaguely as bad as PC Suite.
You should really consider sacking your entire development staff and buying the services instead. A flock of monkeys would eventually develop a more stable system than your developers have managed.
My next phone is going to be bought from an other manufacturer than Nokia.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your devi...

5 months has passed and many hours on the phone to Nokia. The phone has been completely reset /reboot by Nokia time and time again and still the phone gets this message when trying to update software..."Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device"....We were optimistic that the software upgrade would solve the other problems we are having with all the Nokia phones at work. They are all E52's

Having the same issue currently with an E72 software version is 054.005.266.02 and Ovi Suite 3.1.1.80
Actually I had connection lost all the time with all previous versions of Ovi Suite too... it has never been reliable.
Using original Nokia USB cable, connected securely. Tried different PCs, different USB ports, same issue.
Just now I'm trying software update and it looses connection during the backup process all the time... very disappointing. Screenshot attached if anybody is interested.

    Troubleshooting so far:
    ===============================================================
Uninstall Ovi and re-download from Nokia web. Reinstalled Ovi Suite but that didn't work.
I then uninstalled all Ovi and all Nokia related software, cleaned Registry and reinstall Ovi Suite: Failed to fix.
Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize.

    How to solve this problem?

    LOL
I just tried Nokia Ovi Suite again to copy the full error report that it sends to Microsoft.... lo and behold it started to work again?????

Made a complete backup on my phone.
Installed Nokia Software Updater and I reinstall the latest FW 51.0.006 to my phone.
Then I organized my content for a few minutes.
Shut down Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater.
    Started up Nokia Ovi Suite.
Connected my phone and clicked on PC-Suite on the options.
    It now works again????
Something happened when I installed PC Suite that enabled me to use my Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite again.
