MMS on 3.0   Is it possible ?

Hello All,
I have been experiencing the dead battery issue ever since I upgraded to 3.1 then 3.1.2 So then yesterday I went to see a genius and they came up with the conclusion it was a battery issue. I am convinced it is falutly firmware that caused this issue. To my dismay I was 40 days over warranty, so I had to pay 80 dollars for another 3G. I noticed that this phone now has 3.0 on it. It is working wonderful. The battery is staying charged, and no signal issues to be found. I am not going to be updating anytime soon.
So my question to you is:
Is there a way to get MMS enabled while only using 3.0 ? It is not a deal breaker by no means, if not possible. I would rather have a 100% functional phone, then fall victim to faulty software.
thank you for your time.

Yes it is possible. Before someone says something about hacking the phone, it is not needed either. I have upgraded 3 phones in our office to the mms update that were all non jailbroken devices. All you need to do is to run the CMD prompt if you are using Windows. (To do this open the run prompt and type in CMD)
Using CMD
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
That will allow Itunes to see carrier files. Then you just download the Ipcc file (you can Google it, it is called ATT_US.ipcc) which is the official file that Apple uses. Then just open Itunes and shift click on update, it should open up a command prompt, just navigate to where ever you saved the ipcc file.
Then just restart your phone, you have successfully updated your carrier settings with no need to "hack your phone" or jailbreak it.

I have recently noticed I have been charged for MMS (33.3p) messages that were none of the things below: - NOT more than 5 group message. - NOT over 160 chars (with NO emoji). - NOT containing links or media.  This is really annoying, as then I have to phone-up CS and get the charges removed. Has anyone else been having this recently or in the past?   Also, couple other clarifications (I'm on pay monthly): 1) Am I charged to receive MMS, and is it the same as sending [33.3p]? (don't get many, hence can't remember.) 2) Does Subject field count in the 160 chars? (i notice if I add a subject line the char counter disapppears entirely!) 3) If I turn off MMS in Settings [Settings>Messages>MMS Messaging (OFF)] what happens if someone tries to send me one – on both their end and my end? (non iOS user, so not as an iMessage.)  Yours annoyed and confused.

As soon as you enter text into the subject field, you then turn what would have been a standard text message, into a MMS message and thus incur a MMS message charge. It is possible to turn off the subject field in the Messages app (which I have personally done after inadvertantly entering text into it and incurring MMS charges). Re Emoji's. I regularly use these in my messages and I never get charged. Since iOS 7 (think it was) Emoji have been part of iOS/had their own keyboard, and I think this is why there is no charge as they are classed as a standard keyboard character. Here's the video:  I made a short video guide a while back on turning off the Subject Field. It might be worth watching as you can avoid anymore MMS charges with the subject field.

  • I would like to synchronise my sms mms message wit...

I would like to synchronise my sms mms message with outlook or similar.
I use pc suite for text messaging, I send alot of work related texts every night, with Nokia PC Suite this is really easy and handy. Once the phone is disconnected, the only record of messages is just in the phone.
I know I can do a regular back up so I dont lose them.
As with emails, I would like to be able to fully  sync my messages with outlook or similar software.
It can not be hard for nokia to add it to pc suite.
Does anyone have a solution for me.
    thanks

    Hi,
If your phone is compatible with Nokia OVI Suite 2.0.0.10(you can download it from nokia.com/ovisuite), depending upon your system requirements and your phone's compatibility, install Nokia OVI Suite 2.0.0.10, you can sync your SMS(Currently MMS is not supported, expected it to be in next version), you can create smart group for your contacts, you can view your messages on your pc even after you disconnect your phone from the PC.
Hope this is what you are expecting
Sync sms/mms with outlook wont be currently possible as we dont have similar mapping in Outlook

i was curious on why cant u recieve pictures in text messages but only in email?
i find recieving pictures in text messages alot better than email and you can save them to your photos in your phone if you wanted to so why did apple do this?

i was curious on why cant u recieve pictures in text messages but only in email?
Because this is what Apple currently supports with the iPhone with no indication if they plan on including MMS support with the iPhone's SMS client. SMS and MMS are very limited forms of email exchange anyway.

Adding MMS support would not make this possible by itself. You can't save photos received via email to the iPhone's Photo Library at the present time anyway so adding MMS support would not provide for this unless Apple also included this option when doing so.

  • Sending contact from Palm Centro

    Hello,
I'm using Palm Centro (unlocked). I was trying to send a contact, and I found no option to send it with SMS. It automatically sent through MMS. I'm living in Indonesia, and MMS is not really a fashion. Very few of us activated this feature, and some others are still using non-MMS supported phones.
Is it possible to send contact from my Centro to others with SMS, without having to copy and paste the number manually?
Oh, and while I'm at it, is there a keyboard shortcut to highlight text on the screen without using the stylus or without touching the screen? (like pressing shift+arrow in windows).

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  If you are trying to send a contact I am not seeing a way to send it via sms.  But if you go into the contact and then using the menu key, bottom right hand corner of the keyboard next to ALT, you will find a send option.  I show you can send by bluetooth or email.  I would think email is the way you will want to send it.

  • Disable internet but not MMS, is it possible?

    Hi guys,
my girlfriend has an iPhone 4, the "stable" situation was that she was able to send and receive MMS, but not to browse in internet (but through WiFi of course). She liked the situation, because in Italy rates to go in internet are not very convenient...
Then Vodafone decided to provide her (as gift) with one month of free internet. She accepted and her iPhone "got configured"... somehow...
Now that the month is expired, now and then some application connects and she pay quite a lot of money to Vodafone... The only way in which she can avoid the problem is by disabling 3G and GPRS data, however with this she can't send and receive MMS...
Vodafone said that it is not in their services configuration the problem, but in her phone, and that she should find proper way to disable internet. Any idea of how to do it, without losing MMS?
    THANKS!!
    Marco

I have an iPhone 3GS, and I live happily without being connected... Or better, I have WiFi in office and at home and I don't need more... Indeed my iPhone can send MMS, but it cannot browse internet without Vodafone configuring my phone somehow...
The same situation applied to my girlfriend with her iPhone 4G, but after Vodafone "promotion", now the phone is configured and we cannot do anything about it...
The question was if it was possible to configure iPhone 4G to go back to the previous situation... In 3GS, I have Settings -> General -> Network, I have options to configure APN connection data, while iPhone 4G doesn't seem to have it... Does anyone know how to configure the phone?
    Thanks,
    Marco

  • Is it possible to download MMS pictures

I've got a Nokia 3230. I've installed Pc Suite. I've got some MMS photos inside my Nokia and I want to know if it is possible to download those photos and how. Perhaps I need another software (which one?) and to proceed a certain way.
    Thank you for helping me
    Best

It can actually, but only with models
    Nokia N70, N72, N90, 6630, 6680, 6681, and 6682.
To view and create MMS message on PC, you need
    Nokia Multimedia FActory from

But as said, not with this phone model you cannot.

  • Is it possible to send an MMS message?

I don't know if its just me but i cant see any way of sending a picture message. Can it be done if so how?
All I can see is a way of sending the picture as an email.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Also for some reason my iphones ringing volume keep turning itself down and it always goes to the same volume, almost off. It happens intermittently is there a reason for this?

MMS messages can be sent through you email setup. MMS messages can not be sent like an SMS.
There is not any information as to if/when it will be added. You can send feedback to Apple with a request to add it. You will not be the only one to do this (I have done this as well).

  • Possible issue with MMS and Android

I can send MMS to anyphone and network except other HTC Hero users on our network, did a bit of searching and found this on the voda forum.

    Hi Mark
Yes I can send MMS no problems at all to any other handset and network and get them in return, but a bunch of my work colleagues who have the handset on this network have the same issue, they didn't realise until I had mentioned it. Sometimes I get the message but it comes up on the screen to download but it won't let me.
The reason I posted was to check how widespread this is, since this handset and O.S is new to BT.

  • Possible? to recieve a MMS from someone without an internet plan cell phone

I am not too thrilled about friends asking me if i got there pic text and then telling them no i havent, could you send it to me email because my IPHONE CANT comprehend a simple picture text. BUT thats all we can do for now huh. So my real question is how can my friend who doesnt have an iphone, and has a phone with no internet plan, send me an email picture??????????? When the viewmymessage.com site worked they could send me pictures with no problem, and i didnt have to ask them to do anything speacial for me because i have an iphone. I hope someone can give me an answer that will allow my friend with a no internet cell phone to send me an MMS via email.........goodluck

    Hi there,
When I get sent a picture message, I get a text message from o2 saying I have received it and to go to their website to see it. I logon using Safari (I've added the page as a web link on my home screen) and I can see the picture message. It's not ideal, but it's good enough until Apple build MMS capability into the software (that's what I love about my iPhone, the ability to change the device by simply updating the software).
Does your Service Provider offer a similar facility? Might be worth contacting them.
    Regards,
    Jamie

  • Send MMS content to iPhone - Possible?

OK, we now have MMS activated on AT&T on the iPhone.
I'd like to send files, specifically small audio files, to my iPhone using iChat on my Mac. When I try, iChat gives an error "this chat does not accept file transfers."
Shouldn't we be able to send files using MMS activated on iPhones?
    Jim

Thanks. E-mail is OK, and I've been able to do that all along.
I had hoped to be able to send an MMS message with attached audio (or "e-mail" to [email protected]), as the message would pop up an alert that I could follow directly to the message and audio file. I can't get the "pop up alert and follow" with an e-mail received on the iPhone.
I want to use it to send phone messages captured on my home Mac to my iPhone.
    Thanks anyway,
    Jim

  • LG G2: Possible MMS fix.

My fiancee was having trouble sending/receiving pictures/MMS.  After reading through many posts, an idea dawned on me: I went to her Android Play Store and updated ALL the apps.  I then did a restart and, for good measure, turned off the device for a few minutes before powering it back on.  It works fine, now (granted, WiFi needs to be off to send/receive MMS).  I probably only needed to update the Google- related apps, but it's late and I don't have the time or the want to figure that out.
Side note: We had many updates off of the "auto update" setting due to our data plan, but, since the updates can be set to only update while on WiFi (by choosing Settings in the play store), we don't need to worry.
Hope this works for everyone else having the same MMS problems!... and I hope it continues to work for us.

Use Textra messaging app.  It's in the play store.  I've been round and round with this issue.  This is the only fix that worked and continues to work.  It's, actually, a nice app.
