MMS photos -- gone

Ever since the upgrade to iOS4.0.1 I've had issues with the black blocks in my camera roll, and also when I hit the "earlier messages" in any of the items in the messaging app, all the MMS photos I had from the past are gone or "black" when I try to view them. Anyone else having this issue?

I have what I think is a similar problem When I go to my camera roll (iPhone 4) there is a big black box which apparently contains all of my old photos. (The line at the bottom of the screen says I have 168.) The pics are there because I can "arrow" through them, but the only ones that show up on the screen are the recent few I took.
How can I recover the previews of my previous camera roll photos?

Did you power the phone off & then back on after you installed the carrier update?

  • Photos gone after upgrading to 5

Just upgraded to the 5, all syncs went fine, except for photos. Not there. Prior 4 was backed up to iCloud as well as iTunes. Are these photos gone forever or can I recover them somehow?

I guess I never used an application for photos. Told by Verizon rep that photos would be in the cloud and/or on iTunes since I backed up to both before I upgraded. I'm thinking that a while back I turned off the My Photo Stream function to save some storage. Which means I likely DON'T have the photos either in iTunes or in the "Cloud". That is a bummer that I'll probably never get those photos back.

  • MMS Photo (3G3 with iOS4)

Why isn't the option available to MMS a photo?
Where did it go, how do I get it back and why is this OS upgrade so horrible?
Do I need to downgrade my software to make my phone work properly (not just the MMS/Photo issue but - push notifications, apps crashing, camera sometimes works, can't slide to answer for a phone call, random things showing up when I press the Home button) and by doing that, am I going to lose my stuff? Obviously, most of it's on my computer - but what about my settings, ect?
Why isn't this in beta still?
Back to my original question.... Why isn't the option available to MMS a photo? Where'd it go and how do I get it back?

I'm having the same problem with MMS pictures. I can send them to everyone that DOESN"T have an iphone4 and they get them with no problem. However when I send them to my husband--he has the same phone as I do--iphone4--he can't receive them! I'm not sure of "re-setting" the phone--what will it change? Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • My daughter can mms photos from her LG phone to everyone but me and my iphone

My daughter can mms photos from her LG phone to everyone but me and my iphone.  She tells me that she can mms photos to other iphones and I can receive photos from other people, just not her.  The only thing that I can think of is that we are on a family plan that allows unlimited text between family members so maybe my carrier is blocking MMS?  The problem with that theory is that I can text photos to her, so I am stumped.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks!

you need to do a backup of the old phone and then on your new phone restore from that backup

  • MMS (Photo-Messaging) and AT&T

    Hi,
Over the past few days, I have had increasing problems sending a photo from the "Messages" (texting) App on my iPhone, whereas I have had no problems before that.
The telltale red exclamation circle occurs next to the picture after about one minute of trying: the progress bar in the title-bar of the messaging screen goes almost all the way to the end, where it stops about 1-2 mm short of finishing, and then gives up after about one minute. Sometimes, after 5-6 tries (10-15 minutes apart), the photo will finally go through...
Concurrently with this problem, I've noticed the following: I'd get the alert that I have a voice-mail, although the iPhone never rang, and the caller's call may or may not not show up on the "Recents/Missed" calls list. Tapping on the "Voicemail" button brings up the list of v-mails, with the new v-mail having a blue circle/bullet without a rightward triangle in it. Tapping on it changes the bullet into a circling progress icon, and after a minute or so, the error message comes up, saying that the voice-mail was not accessible. Eventually, some hour or two later, the v-mail would finally download, and I can play it.
These two problems having occurred concurrently, I have a strong suspicion that it is not a software problem with the iPhone (so that no amount of restarting would solve the problem), but in AT&T bandwidth, i.e., insufficient network capacity, at least in the area where I live and work: Manassas-Haymarket (in Virginia) and Washington DC, respectively.
Has anyone else noticed this particular combination of problems?
    Thanks, Tristan

It may be a issue between your iphone/sim card and AT&T's network. Try resetting the network settings by going to Settings>General>Reset and reset network settings and then test again.
If this does not work I would call AT&T as MMS and Visual Voicemail is provided by them.

  • All the photos gone are from my library, but are still in the data folders

when i scanned something onto my computer a few minutes ago and then went to import it into iphoto, i opened up iphoto and a message that said something about my thumbnails needing to be redone because of a new version of iphoto or something (i haven't done anything to itunes--updates, gotten a newer version--since i got the computer in 2006. so i don't know what that was about). i clicked okay thinking that my thumbnails would now show up because earlier they just showed up as a blank box. but then the only photo in my iphoto library was the image i'd just imported. all my albums were gone too. i went into my data folder on finder, and the photos are all still there. just not in iphoto. why is this? is there a way to get the photos back on without importing them again? importing would take forever seeing as there's more than 4,000 images.

Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • ICloud photos gone after iOS 8 update

    Hi, everyone,
Recently I have updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and when I open the Photos app I can't find my photos that are stored on the iCloud. Previously on iOS 7 they were kept in My Photo Stream folder, but in the recent update it is gone and in collections and albums only photos from camera roll are present though I can view them on iPhoto for Mac. Perhaps iCloud photos on iOS are stored somewhere else now? If anyone who encountered this issue could leave a response or a fix to the problem I would really appreciate it.

In iOS 8, new photo stream photos will appear in the Recently Added album in the Albums section of the Photos app.  Older photo stream photos (as well as new ones) will appear in the Photos section.

  • IPhoto 9.6 upgrade photos gone only "old master"

I was forced to upgrade to iPhoto 9.6 when I upgraded to Yosemite. Now when I open iPhoto, all of my photos are gone. I know they are not completely gone, because I was able to find them when I opened package contents. However, everything is not under "old".
I had my library stored on an external hard drive (1TB) and I have 223GB of photos. When I click on the library it still shows that amount. I held down "option" when I opened iPhoto and tried to redirect it to my library, but only the "Library.iPhoto" showed up and I have a feeling all of my pictures are in the "Library6.iPhoto".
I tried holding command and option to rebuild the thumbnails and then rebuild the library, but nothing happened.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
I do have a time machine connected to my computer, but I am not sure what good it will do if this is a forced update by Yosemite. I'm stuck.

Do you have a back up? This thread has a post that might help:

  • Nokia 3110 and MMS/ Photo Messages

I am on Vodafone and am unable to send and receive photo messages on my Nokia 3110. Vodafone have confirmed that the correct product is on the mobile number number so it must be to do with the actual handset settings. I can't find anything specific on the web. Can anyone help as I really need to get this working for my job.

There used to be a service on the Nokia web site where you could send network settings to your phone, but this has been closed down so now you have to get settings sent by the netwrok operator (in this case Vodafone) - this is not the same as having the service activated on your phone number, it is specific settings so that the phone knows how to contact the MMS service.
Received messages might be going to the Vodafone web site - I had a contract with Vodafone when I lived in the UK some years ago, and I remember having to specifically set up from my account on the Vodafone web site that messages be delivered to the phone and not to the web site.
What happens when you try to send? Is there an error message?

  • Mms photos won't receive on iPhone 6

when photos are received it comes through as download and not the actual picture.

Is this through iMessage or an MMS from a non-iOS device? Do you have MMS activated? Do you have a data activated, either cellular or Wi-Fi? If this is from an non-iOS device, check with your carrier to make sure your account has MMS provisioned on it. When you say it comes as a download, do you mean the picture area says tap to download, or do you see a link? It could be a size issue for the picture and your carrier, if an MMS from a non-iOS device.

  • All photos gone after setting up iCloud?? Please help!!!

Hi, I've had my iPhone for about a month decided and decided to finally set up my ICloud. It said I needed to verify my email address, which I did. As soon as my iCloud account was set up, I noticed that all of my photos were gone. Somebody please help!! Why did it do this and is there any way I can get my photos back???

iCloud doesn't "delete" photos. You have lost them some other way. Most people sync to different computer and loose them or sync with computer that that has none saved. Camera roll remains no matter what computer you sync. Restoring may have erased them. If they were from photo stream sign into icloud at settings>icloud> and turn on photostream.

  • All photos gone!!!!

Yesterday I was downloading off an SD card when iphoto decided to wipe everything, all photos are gone. Running iphoto 7.1.5 on OS 10.6.8 on older black macbook. I tried to restore using the time capsule but it says the disk is full. How do I fix?

Well if you have 100k photos that'll be a lot larger than 24 gigs.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
