MMS Problems

Anyone else having a problem with the recipients of MMS messages from the iPhone 4g camera not being able to view them? If not how do you fix the picture size so everyone you send them to can receive them?

I own a Blackberry and everytime I get a pic from a new iphone 4g I get a message saying: "One or more of the message components have been deleted because the file size is too big or unsuitable for my device." So I know it's a problem for us noniphone users. I have 3 friends with ip4 and no luck getting pics from them. Husband has a 3gs and he can't get pics from ip4 either.

  • DIFFERENT type of mms problem (receivers can't view)

Hey all, I have a different mms problem after updating my 3GS to ios 4...
Seems I can send mms and videos just fine, however the end receiver just sees a still image and hears the audio. I've done a lot of tests with this, and my wife's 3GS does the same thing. But it only started happening when she updated to ios 4 ( on different AT&T plans and updated at different times) her 3GS is only a month old.
I've somewhat pinpointed this directly to ios 4, as any video I have shot with it will do this, but only if it is to someone without an iPhone, or with and iPhone but not running ios 4
It seems kind of sporadic as well. I think it has to do with the way each app handles mms out. If I'm in a text message and hit the camera icon and create a new video right there on the spot, Things seem to go fine. But if I've already taken a video and its in my camera roll. And I choose to send that, #1 it doesn't seem to warn me about length that much anymore, and will just try to send the vid as is. #2 it doesn't do any sort of preparation with the vid, just pops it into the message and allows me to send.
I've restored, restored to new device, redownloaded ios 4, reset my network settings, and done pretty much everything people have suggested for other mms problems. Nothing seems to help. And yes. Mms is turned on in my settings and subject field is turned off along with group mms and character count.
What it seems like to me, is that ios 4 doesn't have the same trim length or compression algorithms for mms as os 3.1.3 had. My friend who hasn't updated yet can send vids to my receiver just fine.   It seems like the default maximum mms video length might be too long on the 3GS, and I end up sending videos that are unplayable to anyone but ios 4 users.
Can anyone help, or has anyone else had this issue?  Should I be calling Apple or AT&T about this?

  • Major SMS + MMS Problems (Black iPhone 4S 64GB iOS5)

Im having huge problems with SMS and MMS on my iPhone 4S. SMS messages take 3-6 re-attempts before sending, and MMS messages wont send at all. Tried changing the max message size setting, to fix mms issue, with no joy. Im finding this extremely frustrating after shelling out for the 64GB phone and its not carrying out its basic functions at the moment. There is no issue with the carrier, it seems to be something else. Does anyone have any tips on how I can solve this? Or is anyone suffering similar issues?
    Any advice appreciated.

I'm glad (you know what I mean...) I'm not the only person with 4S MMS problems. It's driving me crazy. I swapped from a 3GS (with which I had no MMS problems at all) to the 4S, and have nothing but problems with MMS since I bought it on launch day.
Each time I phone my carrier or visit their shop they give me different advice - they've told me to put at least 3 different figures in the 'max message size' box so far.
Today I thought I was making some progress. I visited the store I bought it from, and a guy there changed the max message size figure and did a soft reboot and, guess what, MMS worked no problem... while I was in the shop, that is. FIve minutes later, when I was outside, the first photo I tried to send failed and there was my familiar friend the white exclamation mark looking up at me.
So then I called my carrier, and the call-taker gave me completely different advice to the guy in the shop (including a different 'max message size' figure to input), before I did my nth reboot. Success! While he was still on the phone, I managed to send two MMS, and got messages back from the recipients.
So I hung up, a happy 4S owner once again.
Only now I'm not quite so happy. Because the exclamation mark's back again, and MMS won't send. And people are sending me MMS, but I'm not getting them.
I just hope one of the myriad people I've spoken to at my carrier was right when she said 'Apple are aware of this issue and we're waiting for a fix'.
In the meantime, I'm thinking of investing in a carrier pigeon...

  • How to fix 3G/VVM/MMS problems in 4.0 WITHOUT losing all of your data

First off, I can't take credit for this. tekset21 on these forums mentioned trying a restore from DFU instead of straight up and that's when I started experimenting the last few hours.
I've tried this twice. It worked the same exact same way. I'm guessing it will work for you as well.
    1) Make sure you have a backup to restore to that will work. For me, this was the backup I made just before I upgraded to 4.0 yesterday.
    2) Put your phone into DFU mode. To do this, you basically connect to iTunes, Hold down both the top button and the home button for 10 seconds, then release the top button but keep holding the home button until a window pops up in iTunes saying it's discovered a phone in iTunes in restore mode. If you need more help google "DFU mode" - there are tons of videos.
    3) Restore using the regular restore button. Wait for the iPhone to finish reapplying the 4.0 software and reappear in iTunes
    4) Click set up as a new phone and then continue. I personally sent myself an MMS, verified the 3G data connection was working by using maps, and played around with my voice mail until it asked me for a password and eventually showed me my visual voice mail.
    5) Finally I restored to the backup I made yesterday. Everything was there like a normal restore (kinda).
NOTE: Whenever I did this the first time it came back from the restore with no SMS icon. I cannot explain this. I could receive a SMS, I could send one. The MMS worked fine too. The icon even showed up in the task drawer- just no icon on the home screen.
Tried the above 5 steps a second time and said "what the ****" and just rebooted my phone- the SMS icon appeared. Went through all the motions again (third time) and the icon appeared again.
    6) Reboot your phone (if you haven't already).
Doing all of the above got me my phone to exactly where it was before i updated yesterday. I wish I could test this and restore it with the backup I made right before I started doing this tonight (get my messages from today back) but iTunes does not give me the option of doing so. I don't know why- I can see both backups and their timestamps but iTunes just isn't giving me that option.
    Hope this helps.

THIS FIX ALSO WORKS FOR THE EXCHANGE SYNCING PROBLEM!!!
    THANKS!!

  • Received MMS problem on E71

    Hi there
I've been using a Nokia E71 for the last 5months, it has the latest firmware updates, and recently I've come across with a problem, when anybody sends me an MMS, the picture I receive with the mms is always in small size (something like 128x240...<10kb) I can send mms fine, up to 200-300kb, and other people receive them in original size.
The problem is that when receiving MMS the phone seems to reduce them to small size, My MMS definitions are Large (also tried Original size). I've reinstalled MMS definitions from the Network carrier (TMN) and even re-seted the phone (using *#7370#) but it's the same.
Am I missing any thing here, any kind of configuration change I haven't remebered? Can you help me?
    Thank you very much

People send me MMS w/picture attachments and the picture does not come through, I get this message:Could not retrieve message content. Try again later. Estimated Downlaoad size=30K, expires Aug ........  Any help would be appreciated, I have re-sent service books and verizon rep told me to do a wipe, but I see others are having the same problem. My phone is a 8330 on Verizon. Thanks
Try going in the store, or call 800.922.0204.  Have them remove MMS from your number, save the screen and then re-provision it on the account.  Again saving the screen.  I know this is a possible fix.

  • E7 Symbian Belle - MMS problems

I own an Nokia E7 with Symbian Belle installed.
The MMS are received very small 240x240... even when they are sent in larger formats.
The E7 resizes the MMS to that size.
I changed the MMS settings to free mode and large image, but the problem remains.
    Does anyone has this problem?
And does anyone knows how to take care of it?

Well I can send photo's fine on my E7 running Belle, so would still suggest you contact your service provider to ensure you have the correct settings ! It's NOT a Belle issue

  • N96 MMS problem (opening and deleting)

    Hello people..
I came here through the Dutch Nokia website, so i hope my english is good enough to understand....
    This is my problem:
this morning I recieved an MMS, and later on i send an MMS back. At that time, there was no problem opening the messages. (both in Inbox, and Send Items)
This afternoon i tried to make a back up of my phone, and after that, I tried to delete al my SMS and MMS. Only here came the problem.
I can delete every sms there is, but the both (2) MMS (in the Inbox and Outbox)
If I try to open them, they won't open, and if i try to delete them, i get the warning (now translated from dutch to english) "General: Already in use"
I checked everything, if there was some programs running, but there isn't, and i also tried to put the phone back to it's factory settings, but then they still won't open/delete.
I already got another MMS, and that one, i could open, en delete. So there is no problem with that one.
Hope that someone can help me?!?
    kind regards Roger

you said that the second MMS is still in your outbox, which means it hasn't been successfully sent yet.
try to delete the outbox MMS first. check its status if still on "sending", click options and choose defer sending.
try to delete, if not possible, try to move it to another folder like drafts before deleting from there.
i believe the inbox MMS can be deleted with no problems following deletion of the outbox one.

  • MMS PROBLEM

Hi, I have a problem with receiving MMS messages. When I receive a mms mobile seems appropriate sound and the icon appears in the Messages application information about the message (standard message program android). After entering the details of the message I see the information that the message is not retrieved. I have to click on the message and select the download message. The message is retrieved and displayed. This happens every time when each received MMS.
    I tried the following things:
    - different sim cards of other operators (Orange, T-mobile)
    - replacement sim card
    - fetch again operator settings for mms
    - In the settings of the message is checked automatically download messages mms
Please tell me what to do messages to be retrieved without the need for intervention.

Does this also happen if you wait a bit before selecting the notification or go to the message? Downloading the MMS could take a little while depending on network speed so if you open the message as soon as you get the notification the phone may not have downloaded it yet.
Also make sure that your APN for MMS under Settings -> More -> mobile networks -> Access Point Names has "mms" in the APN-type.

  • MMS Problem with IOS 4.2.1 (iPhone 4, Beijing, China)

Just upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2.1 and got problem sending out MMS (pictures).
I tried to change the setting under Network - Cellular Data Network - MMS - MMS Max Message Size to 800,000, then succeeded. But when changed back to 50,000 which is the regular size of MMS here, it just did not went through.
So seems the problem is after upgrading the phone cannot resize pictures automatically. When the 800,000 bytes picture went through, it did look prettier and sharper when I checked by clicking it in the message thread. The ironic thing is, 50,000 bytes is the limite of our local service provider, China Mobile. So I will not be able to send out MMS from my iPhone unless it is sent as the original size, and once I sent it out without resizing it, my friends get a text from China Mobile that they cannot get my MMS cause it is over-sized... (@v@)
I found this happening in other countries as well, so guess we just wait for Apple's solution :S And for people that using the service with no size limite of MMS, changing the setting as I did above may solve this problem, temporarily...

The easiest way to size an iphone photo down is to do a screen shot of it. Bring the photo up on screen that you wish to downsize... Press sleep and home button at the same time. After you see a white flash on the phone release the buttons.
The screen shot now becomes the latest picture in your photo library. I have found from bringing photos into iphoto to compare that this process will reduce a 2.2MB picture down to 950KB, and isn't really noticeable on the camera screen.
This should also help with mms sending issues where the photo is too big and the phone times out before it is sent.

  • PC Suite MMS problem

Hello, I have N95 8Gb and have some problems with view of my MMS messages on phones of others.
The same composition of MMS message made on phone and with pc suite does look different.
In case of making MMS on the phone, my recipient receives my message, then open it and sees the picture.
In case of making MMS with PC Suite, my recipient recieves the message, then open it, then he sees it like an enclosure and he firstly have to save it somewhere on his device to view it later.
Why does it happen ? How to fix it ?
    Thx in advance.

    Yes,
Would be nice if Nokia decided to actually do something about this.
It seems to me as if the PC Suite program is merely referring to the wrong field for date and time as it shows the correct date and time on the phone itself. In that case, it seems like just a minor tweak to the program.
But of course,  then that would mean they're listening to us! And why should they do that?

  • 8330 Curve MMS Problem

You have probably ALL heard about some BBs not retrieving MMS picture of video messages. Well, Here's my story...
I had a Pearl 8130. I called my provider (Verizon) because I couldn't retrieve picture messages. Always said "Not retrieved yet", then I'd click retrieve now, it'd pop up saying retrieving now, and close immediately. Tried battery pulls, re-registering with the network... You name it, I probably tried it. So like i said, i called Verizon. They took 3 days "investigating" the issue to come back and say, your phones broke. Woot! *morons*. So i gave them a hard time, cause its a real pain to get new keys for all my apps n what not. So they agreed to upgrade me to a brand new Curve 8330 for my troubles. Well, I got my shiny new Curve today, and guess what?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! MMS still dont work...
So... I have search high and low, and tried all i have found to fix this problem. Nothing seems to work, Does anyone else know? Perhaps something to have Verizon look into? something they normally wouldn't check? Or a weird setting? Bad app, that causes problems? Anything? I'll try anything. I love the BBs, but i need my picture messaging. Hope someone can help. Thanks for reading my life story *Boring*

Another thing I had to do (for my T-Mobile BlackBerry) was to make sure that Enable Push was enabled in Options > Advanced Options > Browser Push. Once I enabled that (along with Enable MDS Push and Enable WAP push) my MMS messages worked fine.
Now I don't know if a Verizon device will have those same settings, but you can check it out.

  • Solution for group MMS problem?

I have seen many posts about the issue of being unable to send group MMS text messages with this phone.  I havent seen any solutions.  Has Verizon come up with anything?  I cannot generate or reply to group messages, only individual messages.
    thx

I am having the same issue, and have not experienced it before a few days ago.  This is what happens to me:
    1)  If I receive a group text (which I frequently do), It says "Message not received", which it normally does.  I go to the text and click the "Download" button.  In the past, this would download the message with no problem.  Now, however, it says "Downloading" but never actually downloads.
    2)  If I try to send a group message, the green arrow turns on and just sits there - the messages are never sent.
    My settings are:
    1)  System:  Wifi (one of the suggestions on another thread) is on - I tried turning it off as suggested, but it had no change.
    2)  Text:  Default group message type is Group (I tried changing to individual and it did not work).
    3)  Text:  Auto-retrieve is on.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am unable to read my group texts and feel lost!

  • PLEASE HELP...MMS PROBLEMS !!!

I can't receive any mms. I can only send them out.I tried to mms myself a pic and it gave the check indication as sent, however I never received them. Friends mms me tons of pics but I never received them. Can anyone help me with this problem? Why can I send mms but not receive?

First pull the battery with the device on, wait 30 sec and re-install, wait the 1-3 min reboot time.
Be sure your device does not have messages blocked.  Go to Options > Security > Firewall > be sure there are no check marks in the boxes that will block messages.

  • 6220 C MMS problem

I just bought my 6220 today. I sent the mms but i when i recieved the pic it was 128x9 n i could hardly make out wat it was..n the original pic was 1800x something..my N72 never gave this problem of viewing pics..i even changed the setting to large in image size but still the same result. Am i stuck with this?

    Hi!
I also have the same kind of problem with my 6220 Classic. I can't recieve MMS messages that contains mp3-files and sometimes other file types also fails. Somtimes even the text have been removed from the message. I have tried SIM-cards from 4 different operators and the funny thing is that it works with 2 of them. I live in Sweden and I have tried vith the following operators:
Halebop (trademark of Telia Sonera): Does not work. Mp3-files are removed if the message contains anything more than just a single mp3. Some pictures and amr-files also have been manipulated so they don't work. Then I recieve an sms with the following text: "You have recieved an MMS which contains parts that are not supperted by your phone." Their website indicates that my phone is an old 6220. Their customer service says that it doesn't matter if the network confuses the 6220 Classic with the old 6220 because all phones use the same settings. I'm pretty sure that they are wrong.
Tele2 Sweden: Does not work. Mp3-files are converted to amr-files and sometimes they are replaced with a text. "The file ***.mp3 was deleted." for example. Sometimes even amr-files and the text is being removed and replaced with "The file ***.amr was deleted"or "The file smil.txt was deleted. Their customer service says that the system has detected my phone as a 6220 classic and hat I should contact Nokia for more information.
Telenor SE: No problem at all.
3 SE: No problems at all.
I also have a Sony Ericsson K610 and I have never had any problems recieving MMS messages with that phone. So it seems to be compatibility issues between 6220 classic and some of the operators.
Or is there any possibility that my phone is faulty or maybe a bug in the phone even though it works with some of the operators?
