To me, and from what I've seen on most forums, bumping means to put a short reply against a particular thread so that it temporarily goes to the top of the active threads.
To tell people to 'forget the whole thing' you could just let the thread go or reply with 'Nevermind'. However, replying to the thread at all raises it to the top again so people are more likely to read it than ignore it, which goes counter to what you're trying to acheive.

  • Printed books for LabView / TestStand

    Hello,
can someone suggest any books for a complete beginner in
    a.) LabView and
    b.) TestStand
(I mean a separate book for each product.)
Is there something that i can buy in normal bookshops or is there a online-shop of NI?
Or are there no books to buy, only online-help?
    Thanks for all tips.

Regarding TestStand, there is indeed not much material besides the NI training classes and documentation files.
I find the following source very useful, but it requires a basic knowledge already:
    TestStand Advanced Technical Series.
    hope this helps,
    Norbert
PS: This series is now about 5 years old, so some information might not be accurate regarding the newest TS version.
CEO: What exactly is stopping us from doing this?
    Expert: Geometry
    Marketing Manager: Just ignore it.

looking for instrument driver for PTS 160 Frequency Synthesizer

"Unfortunately I was unable to find a driver for this instrument at http://ni.com/idnet. This leaves you with one of a couple options. It may be possible to modify an existing driver to work with this instrument. Otherwise, http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/other. htm states a few options to obtaining a driver. NI only writes drivers for standalone instruments in the eight IVI classes(DMMs, Scopes, Function Generators, Switches, Power Supplies, Power Meters, RF Signal Generators, and Spectral analyzers) that communicate via GPIB, Serial, or TCP/IP, so a driver cannot be written for your instrument. It would also be beneficial to notify the instrument manufacturer, they often have drivers for multiple programming languages. If they do not, you may want to hire an
Alliance Member to write an driver for you.

  • I am looking for LabVIEW instrument drivers for Audioprecision test equipment. It looks like you do not support any Audioprecision intruments?

I also do not see any support for Keithley 2420 Sourcemeters.

    Hi Kristen,
If you search www.Keithley.com you will find an instrument driver for the 2420 device. Go to the "downloads" section and search for 2400.
I am not sure what you mean by Audioprecision instruments. If you had a specific driver in mind, I would check with the instrument manufacturer. Often times they develop and support the drivers since they know the instruments far better.
If you do not see the driver on their website, please submit a request at http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/instrumentdriverrequest/ and with the instrument manufacturer.
We develop drivers based on demand and popularity so the more requests we have for it, the greater the possibility that we will develop one.
If you would like to try developing your own instrument driv
er (or modify the existing one), we have documentation, model instrument drivers, and driver templates to help at:

    Hope this helps out!

  • Simple Teststand UI API for LabVIEW

Like many people I know how painful it is to program a Teststand user interface in LabVIEW.
To combat that I have developed a new API which wraps the ActiveX calls into modern object oriented code which follows proper LabVIEW programming paradigms.
    Please check it out:
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-43511
This is pretty much beta software, so constructive feedback on the code or the article itself is greatly appreciated.

    Hi holy,
I am not familiar with that instrument, but looking at the spec, it doesn't look like its compatible with IVI.
The product spec says it comes with a driver for labview and probably some example VI's.
Therefore to interface with TestStand you will have to use the LabVIEW adapter rather than the IVI step types.
If you are using TestStand 3.x, then you should be able to interface to the individual driver VI's or create your own higher level function VI and call these using the LabVIEW Adapter.
The driver doesn't appear to be available as a download from the NI website, otherwise I would have created an example sequence file for you.
    Hope this offers some help.

  • Can a "object reference" type from TestStand be used for Labview VIs

I am creating a test sequence in Test Stand and I am looking to use a "object referrence" type stored in the globals of TestStand as an input to VIs that I will use later in TestStand.  The object can be from .NET or ActiveX.  I need to know if I can use a input that will support either type.

    Hi Mcfrenzy36,
Object references can be used for LabVIEW. I have found an article that teaches how TestStand handles Activex object references. Here is the linkt o it:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2984
    I hope that this helps.
