Mobile account settings greyed out

Hi,
We have an Open Directory running with mobile users on macbooks and normal users on Mac mini's. I have an issue with 1 mobile user where the mobile account settings can't be changed. Most of the options in the screens are greyed out; I can change the interval, but not the folders or the "at login - at logout".
The specific user is admin on the computer and I have the same issue on another computer when I create a new mobile account. I have deleted this user from the computer and recreated it, but it remains the same.
The issue started in Lion and remains after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Anyone can help me ?
Kind regards,
Bas

I tried setting Account Creation to Never as documented below. This made no change in the sync options on the client.

  • Mobile account settings & home sync

I've learned recently that introducing a MacBook into a corporate Windows world is easier said than done, but I've been fairly successful. One problem that has occurred recently (maybe due to a recent update) is that I can no longer access the Mobile account settings in my Accounts preferences. I setup the first MacBook Pro around the first of March. I successfully assigned a networked location as my home folder, and it synced just fine.
Now I've setup a second MacBook Pro today and found that I can't access the Mobile account settings in the Accounts preferences. Going back to my original MacBook Pro, I get the same thing... greyed out. I click on the Home Sync button in the toolbar and I click on "Sync Now" and I get no response. I see that it shows my last Home sync was on 3/4/10.
I don't have an OSX server here, we're using Active Directory on a Win2008 server. No specific rules have been assigned to these machines, but the accounts are Active Directory accounts.
Anyone have an idea why I can't use the home functions? These are new 15" MacBook Pro models with 10.6.3 software.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I got the same problem with our second Mac. But after activating it in: System -> Library -> CoreServices -> Menu Extras and then HomeSync.menu, it became editable.
Does someone know how to change the server folder that the mac will sunc with?

  • Why are SMTP server settings greyed out?

My dad's AOL account was broken into and he had to change his password.  The problem is that he can't send mail from his iPhone anymore, and my guess is that the password in his outbound settings is incorrect.  But all the SMTP settings for this account are greyed out.
Anyone know what the story is here?
    Thanks.

It is nothing to do with allowed content. Grey bug was triggered because you selected a "helpful" profile in Add Account. If you are lucky SMTP credentials may be copied from your IMAP ones. I was able to change Gmail password with just IMAP.
BTW the password does not echo. This silly given that it is unlikely such a device would ever be used with a TTY or printing terminal. Password display would allow stronger passwords. I have not used or even seen a TTY in decades.
However, I am old enough to remember TTYs and sessions in the trash. If password did echo then you would only need the first part of a session.

  • After upgrading to IOS 5.1.1 the Wi-Fi selection in settings greyed out and now says No Wi-Fi.  Have tried restting and restoring both from te phone and from Itunes but this does not solve the problem.

I recently upgraded my Iphone 4s to 5.1.1 and founf the Wi-Fi button in settings greyed out saying No Wi-Fi.  I have tried Reset network Settings, Rest All Settings and restore in Itunes but to no avail.  I understand this is a comon occurence but I cant find a solution to it.  Can anybody help?

    See this tip --> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
If this doesn't resolve it you most likely have a hardware failure. Fortunately, your phone is in warranty, so if you take it to an Apple store they will replace it.

  • How do you disable mobile account settings/parental controls

My school had a one-to-one macbook program, but I switched schools. Now i have a heavily restricted computer. They had my account set to mobile and had parental controls enabled, so I used single user mode to create a new admin (remove /var/db/.applesetupdone and reboot) and remove them. However, even though no account has parental controls turned on, they are still enabled somewhere for all accounts, even admins. I have two questions: how do i disable mobile account settings, and where are the parental controls files located? I found some in /library/managed preferences/<account name here> , but editing these gives only temporary relief from parental controls, and they are reset when i restart. There has to be somewhere else that parental controls are flagged as on/set to sync on login. i removed the actual parental controls executables and stuff somewhere in /system but after that i couldnt open activity monitor and i didnt want to risk a reboot. please help me as this is very annoying. btw im on OS X 10.6.7

    HI,
    Try this..
Open System Preferences/MobileMe and select the Sync tab.
Deselect the box where you see: Synchronize with MobileMe. The last sync will noted at the bottom left side of the window.

  • ICloud, Settings greyed out - screen that says 'Account not Verified'

Hello, I upgraded my iPhone with latest OS and didn't setup my iCloud upon activation.  Now when I go to my Settings and go to iCloud, I get a greyed out screen that says 'Account not Verified' 'Check your email for instructions', but none come???  Can someone tell me how to get it activated any other way?

    Hi LindaMurray,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may find this method helpful for verifying your email address:
Associating and verifying email addresses with your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE68
How to verify the primary email address for your Apple ID
When you first create an Apple ID (using your email address) a verification email will be sent to that address. If you sign in to your Apple ID from the link in that email, the email address will be verified as the primary email address for your Apple ID. You can also resend the email verification if the email address is not verified:
    1. Sign in to My Apple ID to manage your account information.
    2. Click Resend under Primary Email Address.
    3. Verify your changes by following the link in the email you will receive from Apple and signing back in to your account.
    Cheers,

  • Help, Redirector not working, Email settings greyed out

This was working. I had everything set up and then I can only assume last weekend when I installed and update from MS it cancelled everything.
Now when I open the Desktop Manager, my email settings are greyed out, I can't sync my messages or calendar. When I click on it, it says, "Email settings are not available without an online connection to your messaging system." When I go to sychronize and try to configure it, there is no Outlook user profile to choose from. I have added another user profile in outlook and tried again, but there are still no profiles to choose from in the dropdown menu.
Also, when I open up Redirector, I get the message. "Could bot start the Redirector: the connection to your messaging system could not be initialized".
I know these are both related, there is something I'm forgetting. I have went through the forums and tried several things that appear to be the same, but none have worked. Anyone have a suggestion?
I don't know that it matters, but I've got a Bold and using Outlook 2007.

Hi again, I have reinstalled the DM 5.0 & chose the BES type installation even though I am not using that. This enable me to use the Redirector properly again
Interesting...FWIW -- Redirector is pretty much designed strictly for Enterprise users (MS Exchange, Notes, etc.) whose firms do not host an internet facing interface to their corporate email (OWA, POP, etc.). Redirector is designed for those users to leave a client PC running, inside of the corporate network, with their email client (Outlook) running all the time. The redirector interfaces with the client and manages the communication (via the internet connection from their firm) with their single BB.
BIS is designed as the interface for normal internet-facing email accounts. With BIS, there is no need for the redirector since BIS, hosted at your carrier, interfaces directly with your email server (GMail, Yahoo, etc.) and manages the link between them and your BB (for email only).
Since your PC client is interfacing, across the internet, to your email (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), then BIS can do the same thing -- they are both, quite simply, IMAP/POP client interfaces to such servers...
Anyway, if you want to rid yourself of the desktop redirector, then you might want to consider BIS for internet-facing email interface to your BB.

    Just my thoughts...

  • Can't change APN settings (greyed out)

Hi, I have been reading a lot about my problem on this forum and on other BB-forums. I hope someone can help me because the historic forum-answers were quite depressing. . . I bought my new BB Q10 - without a simcard - last week from a well known Dutch webshop. I inserted my Rabo Mobiel simcard that I used in my BB curve. With the BB Curve and this simcard I have been emailing and browsing the internet for 3 years without problems. I can call and text with the BBQ10 but I can't get the internet working. The APN settings were already filled on this BB Q10 - unfortunately not with the APN name from Rabo Mobiel. It says: portalmmm.nl which is probably 'pre-installed' by Blackberry Holland and it is one of the APN names of the KPN provider in Holland. I can change the "portalmmm.nl" into "Rabo" but then I need to set Verification Type to PAP and that is not possible. The Verification field is greyed out and I cannot change it. I tried many ways and even tried to access the escreen:// option (which I couldn't get working) . I made phonecalls to Rabo Mobiel (they say they didn't change anything and no, they use no username and password for APN, only Rabo as account name), to the webshop (no we don't know who installs our Blackberries) and KPN (they gave me the telephone number of Blackberry but I can't get any one on the phone there!). The webshop says: please return your phone. But I know the next BBq10 will probably have the same problem. So can someone - preferably a Blackberry Technician - help me? I would really appreciate it! kind regards, Angela

    hi (93) readers,
I was wondering if there's anyone who recognizes this, or can make any suggestions? Blackberry helpdesk at Twitter is not responding anymore and only tells me to go to retailer or provider (and they remain completely silent after that)
    Thanx,
    Angela

  • HT201269 e-mail account section greyed out and unable to access

E-mail account greyed out and unable to access or open?

Check Settings > General > Restrictions and make sure you have Accounts set to allow changes.
Also, if that doesn't work, close out the Settings App and the Mail App, then reset the device.  Hold down both the Home and Sleep/Wake Buttons for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

  • Apple File Settings "Greyed" out?

I'm trying to access the Apple File Setting pane of a folder that is shared through my workgroup manager however all the settings have been greyed out. Specifically I want to toggle the option of Inherit permissions from parent as opposed to the current setting "Use standard POSIX behaviour". Must be something simple, any ideas?

If ACLs are enabled for the volume ("drive") that houses the sharepoint(s) in question, then the AFP inherit-permissions option is not available by design.
Even if you're not using ACLs yet, if they're enabled for the drive, then the AFP option in question is unavailable.
Check in Workgroup Manager (changing to view drives instead of sharepoints)
    if ACLs are enabled.

  • Color and Color Management boxes in Print Settings greyed out. Using PS CS5.1 with Mac OSX 10.9.5.

For some reason, the above boxes are now greyed out when I go to Print Settings and I am getting prints that are badly distorted. Was working perfectly a few days ago and can't understand why this has suddenly happened ?  Am now confused as to what settings I should have in the Color Management dialogue box in order to get back to the correct operation.

I've also been having this problem. My computer now consistently shuts down between 10 seconds and 2 minutes of startup. This only happens if my computer is not plugged in. (my battery has been between 70-90% the entire time.) If I keep it plugged in...no problems.

  • FileVault 2 guest account is greyed out

Yesterday I performed a clean install of OS X Lion for my MBP (early 2011) had some kernel panics recently and I was told that it could be a software related problem. Anyway I installed all of the updates, switched on File Vault, Back to my Mac and everything's looking good except for I can't access the guest account. When booting there's no prompt for signing into the guest account and in system preferences the guest is greyed out.
Before my clean install I had File Vault enabled as well and there was a guest account I could log in to. I'm not sure what's wrong but I suspect a problem with Software Update. I already had to install several updates manually but am not sure if there's still something missing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • SAP Gui 7.20 Configure Color Settings Greyed Out

Hi, I have installed the new SAP Gui 7.20 patch 1 on 2 machines at my company.  On one machine we can easily change the color settings for each theme.  On the other PC, we can not go into "Configure Color Settings" to change the colors for any theme.  The button is greyed out.  I followed the extact same installation procedure and have the same access to both as well.
Has anyone seen this issue before and know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Marty

Another classic SAP problem where the solution involves patting your head while simultaneously scratching your nuts and jumping up and down.
    Follow these steps:
    1. open SAP Login Pad.
    2. open up a client and click on the 'Customise Local Layout' icon (Alt + F12).
    3. Select 'Options...'
    4. Select the ironically named 'Enjoy Theme'.
    5. Click 'Apply'
    6. Click on 'Ok' and close the client windows and the SAP Logon Pad. Note: you must close restart the SAP Login Pad for the them changes to take effect.
    7. open the SAP Login Pad.
    8. open up a client and click on the 'Customise Local Layout' icon (Alt + F12).
    9. Select 'Options...'
    10. click on 'Colors in System'
    11. select your favourite colour and click on 'Apply'.
    12. click on 'Ok'.
If this post can stop even one person from going insane it will have been worth it.
    Regards,
    Nick
