Mobile Broadband (3 Three UK ZTE MF622) and 10.5.3

Hi,
I have recently updated to 10.5.3 and now find that my 3 Mobile Broadband no longer works. All was fine under 10.5.2.
I have deinstalled the drivers and reinstalled with no joy.
I used the 3 supplied drivers from the USB modem itself (it mounts as a USB drive initially) which are revision B06 initally under 10.5.2 and these work fine creating 2 entries in Network Prefs Pane and installing an app (ZTE Mobile Connection). Launching this app and hitting connect on 10.5.2 produces a usuable broadband connection.
However under 10.5.3 the 2 network entries do not get installed and although the application runs and connects, Safari (and any other internet using app) fails as there is no route out to the net presumably because of the lack of network entries.
Needless to say I am getting nowhere with 3 customer services as although the modem supports Mac, sadly the helpdesk don't and can't assist me. They say its a Mac issue and I'm on my own.
I can find no later drivers and can only put this down to 10.5.3. I have installed the drivers on a fresh 10.5.3 Mac (e.g one that hasn't had mobile broaband on it before) and get the same issues.
I can find no reference to any issues for anyone else so I can only conclude its just me doing something wrong.
Any help/experiences greatly appreciated particularly in maybe recreating the network entries from scratch if anyone is using the same/similar combination of hardware/software as me.
Regards

Hi Niall,
I am running ZTE MF622 and 10.5.3 successfully on my Macbook Air.
Have you set up the network preferences pane using the ZTEUSBModem entry? Even though you should use the Three 'ZTE Mobile Connection' app to connect to the Three service, it seems the Network Preferences settings help. After setting a new location (perhaps 'Three') the network preference settings should be;
Configuration: default
Telephone Number: *99#
Note that I occasionally get a hang up on closing the ZTE Mobile Connection app. This resolves with a force quit - and I'm guessing it may improve with future firmware updates.

  • X200T mobile broadband setting for Three network

    Hello all
I have recently downgraded my laptop (X200T) from Vista to XP, and overall I am very happy with the good old XP.
However, I am having a trouble with the mobile broadband.
I have got a SIM card for mobile broadband from Three network, and have been using it without any problems in my previous OS: Vista Business. However, since I downgraded my laptop to XP, I have not been able to use it through ThinkVantage Access Manager. I have tried to resolve this problem by editing WAN settings in the programme, but failed.
Has anyone else experienced and fixed the same problem? I would very much appreciate if you could share the solution with me.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi. I am using a Galaxy S3 and I am on the THREE network. I can receive e-mails no problems but not send them.
Is there a seting I need to change? Basically, THREE have said this. Help please.
Do they support email forwarding via third party?
    - Do they support outgoing email traffic via any other port other than Port 25 or 587, 465 or 486?
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
I assume you are referring to sending "three" emails via BTYahoo! ?
What error message are you receiving when trying to send ? Typically ISPs (probably as well as mobile type companies) prevent non connected users from using their mail servers. So in order to send "three" emails you need to go through address verification using your BTinternet email address. See my shortcuts, link below, option 0e

    Hello,
Did you find a solution because I am having the same issue with my Sony Vaio SA. It has a Gobi 2000 and works perfectly on Ubuntu 14.04 and all other distributions I have tried so i know the hardware is fine.
I dont get the message repeating although I can get it like that by using the firmware from the AUR. If I use the firmware I got from my previous Windows installation then the error only occurs when turning the device on. This is so annoying
    I get the following:

  • Vodafone Mobile Broadband Line Dropping

Just bought a Vodafone mobile dongle which keeps dropping the line in about 4 minutes. Full story below + log record.
Vodafone Spain support not helpful, any advice greatfully appreciated.
    Story:
I have just bought a PAYG Vodafone K3772-Z mobile broadband dongle in Estepona in Spain and have had problems in getting it to work without it always dropping the connection.
The connection drops after 4:12 and 4:26 minutes, irrespective of the data throughput, in other words is does not seem to be a data limit problem. It drops the line and reports "Searching for network…" "Not connected" and the signal bars and Connect button are greyed. It never finds a network and I have to exit and re-open the Vodafone app.
The dongle is running Firmware BD_K3772V3.0
My laptop is a MacBook Pro 6.2 running OS10.8.1 with Vodafone Mobile Broadband 4.09.01.00
The network shows signal is strong with all 4 or 5 bars "full"   I also have a Vodafone Blackberry which also shows a strong signal.  I also have an O2 UK broadband dongle which works perfectly.
I get the same results if
I plug the dongle in to either of the two USB ports, if
I use an short USB extender cable in either of the two USB ports, and if
I set it to prefer 3G or GPRS
    Settings:
Main - I see Mobile Connection = vodafone ES HSPA or vodafone ES EDGE, SIM (removed for security) 1, Signal = Excellent
Prepago - Click on "My Account" I get redirected to "http://www.vodafone.es/particulares/mi-vodafone/home.jsp" which returns a error page…
Connections - only enabled for "Mobile Connections"
Devices - only the "Mobile Devices" is enabled with 3G preferred (the other options here seem to make no difference)
    Preferences:

  • NB 100: How to - Orange UK mobile broadband connection (icon 225 usb stick)

I've just managed to get my nb100 connected, here is how:
Step 1 - Register the SIM - instructions come with the device
Step 2 - network manager upgrade
#Right click on your network manager icon in the top right and select 'about'. If this is less than 0.7 (as was mine) upgrade is needed.
    #upgrade to network manager >=0.7
    >sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
#add the following to the end:
    >deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu hardy main
    >deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu hardy main
#save, exit, run update manager, install updates and reboot. If network manager icon is missing - shut down completely. Should appear after turned back on.
Step 3 - Install the hso driver and ozerocdoff
locate and download the latest version (1.9 in my case) here: http://www.pharscape.org/forum/index.php?board=14.0
    >cd Desktop/
    >tar zxvf hso-1.9.tar.gz
    >cd hso_26-v.19/
    >sudo apt-get install build-essential
    >sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
    >make
    >sudo make install
    Locate and download ozerocdoff
    >cd ../
    >tar zxvf udev.tar.gz
    >cd udev/
    >sudo make install
Step 4 - Set up connection
Right click on network manager and select 'edit connections' > mobile broadband. Edit the connection listed and insert the following:
    username: orange
    password: orange
    APN: orangeinternet
When you plug your icon 225 in it should now connect.
Pull the icon 225 out when you want to disconnect.. I tried using the disconnect option on the network manager and my notebook crashed..
Feel free to copy and improve this howto.

  • T-mobile Mobile Broadband doesn't even Appear

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago.
When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. The computer emits the sound that recognizes new hardware but no installater comes up
Searching forums, I tried downloading the HP Connection Manager, but it failed to install when an error message ' NO WWAN' came up
I also downloaded and reinstalled the latest Mobile Broadband Drivers but nothing happened. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled.
I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. I tried calling T-mobile, but they said that it was a problem that I needed to contact HP for. I contacted Microsoft that said I need to get in touch with T-mobile. The second call on HP, they told me to contact T-mobile, One big circle.
TL;DR: I need the installer for my T-mobile SIM Card, mobile broadband. The HP Mobile Broadband drivers don't work.

    @YdocZ ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.

  • HP OfficeJet 8500 and Mobile Broadband

Has anyone used OfficeJet Wireless 8500 and Mobile Broadband?  If so, what router did you use or would recommend.  Small Office, less than 15 feet in any direction.  Could not get a simple G router to work.  Thanks!

Did a help desk ever ask you to check specific UDP or TCPIP ports in your firewall to ensure HP communication paths?
They are not usually open in XPSP3 or W7SP1 even after you load the drivers or web mail.  In the updates they even state you must connect to update the device using USB even if you have LAN wired share with a static IP.
I  have three W7 devices (OEM W7, refurbished W7 with updates from WXP (32 bit) and single license W7 on 64 bit hardware) and each of those have had rejections and failures on trying to load the print drivers and the solution center (version 14.0).

  • ASA 5505 VPN and Sprint Mobile Broadband clients.

I have a strange problem, it's something that just started recently when we had a user try to gain access with a Sprint Mobile Broadband card. We have quite a few remote users, probably not more than 6 ever connected to the VPN at once, and I have not heard of any issues until recently. We are starting to require more travel to remote locations, so the use of the hotel internet, as well as Sprint mobile broadband is becoming more important.
There are a few issues here. Everything is IPsec.
Mac OSX with VPN client version 4.9.01 will connect to the VPN when connected to a normal internet connection, but as soon as it gets on the Sprint Mobile Broadband device, it connects for exactly 5 seconds and disconnects.
Windows XP Pro, has no problems with normal internet, on the wireless broadband modem, it will connect to the VPN, but have no access to internal resources or access to the internet.
Windows Vista, has issues all the way around, but mainly when connected to the wireless it has the same issues as XP minus the internet browsing.
Strange thing is, all these problems seem to been different, but they all started around the same time. I have been testing everything I can think of. Talked to Sprint, which the lady there was actually very helpful...just have to get to the right person. But nothing we tried did any good.
Does anyone know of any settings on my ASA that I need to change in order to get these types of connections to work?
The best part of all this is that my Linux machine can connect/surf/and browse the internal network through the VPN just like it normally would work.
Something has to be wrong with my client config settings that is causing this to happen.

Have you enabled NAT Traversal? (Both on the Client and ASA)
That would be the first thing to check.

    Thanks,
Yes, I did that. They have uppgrades for the dongles, but just untill Mac Os 10.7. Their solution is to buy a new modem from them or getting one for free if I sign a contract for 24 months! So, i think from that side not very helpful.
It is just that I do not want to buy a new modem, when it works in quite recent computers and after having spent money in the new Mac.
But thank you for your reply!

  • F3507g mobile broadband driver - Windows 7 - and Cisco Vpn issue

    Hi All,
After 3 days trying to install / update latest drivers on my X200/ Windows 7 / 32b, it seems now that my F3507g is now installed correctly…
I can go the a connection over internet and ping some servers BUT when I initiate my Cisco Vpn, ( working perfectly with my Ethernet connection and my Wifi 5300 AGN ) the connection is ok but no incoming or outgoing traffic !!!
Any idea on how to solve that issue ?

Yes, this is a problem with the IPSEC VPN NDIS driver binding your Mobile Broadband driver. You need to read this article and it is explains why and how to work around this issue:

  • Have installed OSX Mavericks and Vodafone Mobile Broadband Modem no longer connects despite reloading its software. Now cannot reinstall OSX Mountain Lion

Upgraded to OSX Mavericks. Vodafone Mobile Broadband Modem no longer connects. Tried again after reinstalling latest Vodafone Modem software update for Mac OSX, but no use.

Could somebody give a feedback about the solution proposed by Bokir?
I am experiencing exactly the same problem after upgrading to Mavericks with the Huawei E220 modem.
The connection is established for a few seconds, but no data is transfered, and the connection is then closing automatically.
I left the modem plugged in and the Vodafone software set to Automatic, and after numerous attempts and 10 to 15 minutes, it appeared that the connection was finally established.
That is of course no way to work.
After running the VMB uninstaller, there are still a lot of stuff in library cache & preference folder that are pertaining to VMB and not removed.
It is also strange that after uninstalling and reinstalling the VMB software, I am not requested to enter my pin code to establish a connection.
It is obvious that there must be some other VMB files (probably corrupted) somewhere in the system that are not removed by the uninstaller.
I have another macbook pro running VMB without problem and I am really afraid to install Mavericks on this laptop because of this issue.
    Thanks again for any feedback.

  • Mobile Broadband and Apple TV

    Hello
I am looking at purchasing Apple TV but wondered if it would work with Mobile Broadband?
Just wanted to find this out before I make the purchase.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Depends what you mean.
Any internet connection should work - wired or wireless.
However, AppleTv will not accept standard USB Mobile Broadband dongles.
If you had a computer nearby you could potentially share it's mobile broadband internet connection over ethernet or wi-fi to AppleTV.
If you had some form of mi-fi device with a small wireless/wired router running from a 3G SIM you'd probably be ok, but mobile broadband might be too slow for good performance and unless you had extremely cheap data plans could be very costly.
For example HD movies may be several GB in size, so you'd need to factor the mobile bb cost into the rental price.
If your mobile bb device gave say a sustained 1-2 Mbps, then it might take several hours to download enough of a film to start watching without interruption - it would work but you might be better off letting it all download overnight for example before watching the next evening.
It really depends on exactly what you're considering.
Also, beware of quoted mobile bb speeds which are theoretical and rarely achieved in practice.

  • Set up and activate Telstra Pre-Paid mobile broadband

Set Up Your Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband WiFi Device
Activate Your New Telstra Pre-Paid Service

Re: Set up and activate Telstra pre-paid mobile broadband
I currently have internet at 6/320 Manly Road Manly West Qld, but have recently moved, so need to know what my options are on moving the service to my new address.
I tried Wi-Fi from the main house at the new address, as I live in the unit in the back yard, but even with an 'extender' which we purchased today, there is minimal WI-FI.
Is it possible to get a moveable modem so that I can take it anywhere, and have this instead of my current service, I don't need a home phone, what are my options?

  • Upload data problem with HUAWEI E173 t mobile broadband and Mountain Lion

I upgraded to Mountain Lion and updated my T Mobile Broadband software. It successfully connects to the internet.
But within minutes I had exceeded my fair usage policy having browsed five websites!
In T-mobile Internet Manager the Statistics shows huge amounts of data being uploaded ?in the background by OS X.
It is not syncing devices in iCloud. I have no other programs open.
It's uploaded 188MB in 30 mins. I have no idea what this data is or how to rectify this. Help, please?!

Until you can install updated 64 bit software or get hold of a 64 bit T Stick..
Boot your mac into 32 bit mode by holding down the 3 and 2 keys which should work OK.
    Lion is 64 bit..

  • IPad2 and BT mobile broadband

I've bben given this info from BT:-
Enter the settings by accessing SETTINGS - GENERAL - NETWORK - CELLULAR DATA
    GPRS
    APN - btmobile.bt.com
    User - bt
    Password - bt
    MMS settings
    APN - btmobile.bt.com
    User - bt
    Password - bt
    MMSC: http://mms.bt.com/servlets/mms
    mmsproxy:212.183.137.12:9201
    Max message size 307200"
    But
"SETTINGS - GENERAL - NETWORK - CELLULAR DATA"
after "Nertwork" you have only "VPN"  & Wi-Fi
I have changed  in setting "Cellular Data" to APN:- "btmobile.bt.com" ; Username:- "bt" ; Password:- "bt"
It wont pick up a Carrier on "Automatic"
If I manually set the carrier to "vodafone" I get the message "Restricted Network. Your cellular network is restricted. You can choose a different network in Settings".
    Help!!!!

Yes. It is called NetworkManager and may already be installed. Plug in your dongle & open the NetworkManager GUI choosing "Edit Connections" from the menu, click the Mobile Broadband tab and then click "Add". It will then display a list of devices (usually only one, if that is all you have plugged in). Select it and click Forward. Then choose United Kingdom from the country list. Select BT Mobile and click Forward. Take the default billing plan and click "Forward". Note that it will fill in the APN as "btmobile.bt.com" rather than btmobile2.bt.com, but you can edit that later. Then click Apply. That's all!
You can go back in and edit the entry to select Automatic Connection, if that is what you want.
