  • Transfering Email to Business Catalyst

    Hello,
I have a client and I have redesigned his website using muse. I am going to host the new design on Business Catalyst and am planning on keeping the same domain name.
I understand how to redirect the domain name to BC, however is it possible for him to keep his email with his current host service or do ineed to reconfigure??
Any help with this would be very much appreciated.
    Many thanks, Jon

  • PhoneGap & Business Catalyst Integration

    Hi there,
Im new to PhoneGap and just wanted to ask a few questions before I start designing using Business Catalyst. I would like to make a phone app for Apple store with PhoneGap, will this work if I have Web apps/Blog modules in my website using Business Catalyst?
If so, then everytime I post a new blog article will I have to re-upload new files or will it pull fresh content into the phone app?
    Many Thanks for any help
    Kris

They have to render at the server before the HTML is sent to the browser.
I'm not sure how you're expecting this to work. If you can provide more
context perhaps we can help further.

  • Muse Business Catalyst Integration

One thing I'd really like to see is a tighter Muse/Business Catalyst integration. I've been able to sell clients on the prospect of using Business Catalyst (and/or price it into my SOW), but it's still quite the chore to manually locate all of your styles using Firebug, then go back in and rewrite them all in the module stylesheet CSS.
I'd be nice to see all of the BC modules either automatically inherit styles from the main Muse stylesheets, or it'd be nicer to see Business Catalyst widgets (a la the Dreamweaver interface) be built into Muse.
Also, I'm a beta tester who would be pleased as punch to test these features.

What I'd love to see is another widget panel, designed for Business Catalyst, that would let you pop in the different elements of BC.
I was thinking along the same lines—the Muse team needs to add the BC features in as widgets. Your idea of a seperate panel is even better!
I haven't signed up for BC because I've found the interface clunky and awkward and even if you might not have to know a lot of code, you need to know some which takes it right back out of the comfort zone of the very people Muse is targeting. Make a BC panel where I can do all of the BC stuff without actually having to go to the back end and I'll gladly hand over my cash.
Just yesterday I went to play around with a form I made in Muse but wanted to add drop downs and radio buttons to. Went to BC, never understood how to get the new elements integrated with the existing form and back onto the page with the original formatting applied, made a hash of it and logged out.
At a minimum please put those other form elements into Muse (there in InDesign now, why not Muse?) but I'd really like to be able to take full advantage of a premium BC account right through Muse. Maybe it can be a panel set that you get when you sign up for a paid BC account?

  • How would I create a mobile blog layout, by combining Business Catalyst's Modules and Adobe Muse's mobile design function?

The title says it all. I absolutely love Adobe Muse's ability to design mobile and tablet layouts and have grown very fond of the workflow between Business Catalyst and Adobe Muse. The only issue I have found is the ability to incorporate the blog module to a mobile design or tablet design. I understand that Business Catalyst has you insert a tag code to create a page template for the blog to sit in but is there any way to have a mobile and tablet layout for the same blog? I would love if visitors reading my blog from their phone, didn't have to switch from a phone layout to a desktop layout just to read the blog. Once they read/ switch the blog, they can no longer navigate back to the mobile website version because of the page template I have assigned to the blog. All in all, I just want the ability to have the blog fit all mobile, tablet, and desktop versions. Any ideas?

    Hey Brad,
That answer really helped and I am making progress! Now for some reason when I pull up the blog on my mobile, it says 'Error: Some files are missing or can not be loaded. Please clear cache and reload the page.' Any ideas why this might be happening? I haven't used the {system_visitorDeviceClass} that you mentioned.
Maybe the method I used to create mobile layouts was wrong but what I did was create mobile and tablet layouts with the {tag_pagecontent} on each. Once published, I copied the html code for the phone template (as it did not automatically recognize the mobile and tablet page template were part of the same desktop layout) and pasted it to my template I had already assigned as a default. I then did the same for my tablet layout. What am I missing here : /
Thank you for all the help so far! I am making progress!

  • Can I design something in Muse and somehow get the HTML text fro it to plug into Business Catalyst to make a newsletter?

I guess since I don't know html, I was wondering if I could create a "page" in muse and somehow get the "HTML" text from it so I can plug that text into a Business Catalyst E-Mail Marketing Campaign template. since I am struggling so much with modifying one of Business Catalysts established templates.
I made my website with muse and I host it through Business Catalyst with a webMarketing Plan.
    Thanks in advance,

There is no direct way to achieve this but you may try a workaround which may work but would require testing on your end.
Create the site in Muse and publish to BC , master page will be included in template section. So in your published site , Page template will show you design from Muse.
Now from Partner portal , you can select the site to create email campaign template but please note that creating a template from PP will remove the default email campaign templates on BC end.
After creating the campaign template from PP , login to your site and create email campaign and in template section you will get the option to select the template which you created from PP.
Not an ideal way but can be used as a workaround.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Business Catalyst Forms And Mobile Site

I am getting this error for the mobile version of my site. "2 Warnings Page 'A-Master' contains a standard HTML form configured to work with Adobe Business Catalyst." I am using BC as my host, why wont these forms work in mobile?
Also why is email required as a form? I would love to be able to remove this part of the html without it freaking out.

BC is a CRM and for this to work it needs the unique identifier for a person when the data is added to the CRM. This is the email.

  • Muse Designed Blog on Business Catalyst

    Hey,
I am sorry if this is covered before, I am throughly confused by Business Catalyst and Creative Cloud and my searches turned up nothing. I want to design a blog in Muse and then host it in Business Catalyst.
Where I am confused is how the CMS, and blog modules get implemented. I have a subscription to Creative Cloud, but Muse doesn't seem to have the tie-ins for Business Catalyst. Do I design it in Muse, then publishing and then implement to blog module? I am very confused as to how exactly you go about this.
Thanks for the advice or help!

Muse is you issue. Muse is super limited really and you wont be able to do to much with it and BC.
You need to look to switch to a proper coding platform and the system itself and built through it.
Your right, as a graphic designer it is not just thre web, but the front end build, UI design, interactive design and more which is a whole world different from graphic design. Always see the same mistakes from the graphic designers who are bad at web design and think they can

  • Using Business Catalyst to publish my Muse Web design

I have a creative cloud membership to create a website in Muse.  Is there an additional charge for BC to publish my site?

    Hi
With creative cloud subscription , you get 5 free sites to publish in BC. The free sites would be web hosting sites.
For using those free counts you don't have to pay anything extra. Create the site in Muse and publish to BC.

  • Business Catalyst Pricing

Hi Adobe .. First, let me say that I L-O-V-E Business Catalyst and Muse. As a 21-year graphic design professional that was forced into learning code (yuk), Muse has set my creativity free and I now absolutely love designing web sites. I have a Creative Cloud subscription, and I like that I have five sites I can host through Business Catalyst. That's great ... BUT ...
This morning, I decided to use BC hosting for the first time (instead of GoDaddy), and was shocked that none of the sites that come with my Creative Cloud/Business Catalyst subscription includes email. NOT ONE EMAIL ADDRESS IS INCLUDED??! In order to include email in any of the five sites hosted through Business Catalyst, I have to pay an additional $12.21 a month.
Surely, Adobe is smart enought to recognize that Muse designers will want to use Business Catalyst as the hosting hub for all their clients, but Adobe is NOT smart enought to recognize that you have priced yourself out of the market entirely??? GoDaddy offers hosting for $5.99 a month, and the monthly charge has been on sale for $2.99. This GoDaddy hosting plan includes as many email addresses as you want. Why would I go with Business Catalyst and pay four times as much?
Sriously Adobe, please research your competitors pricing, and make your prices competitive!! I would love to use Muse and Business Catalyst exclusively for all my clients and hosting, but I'm not going to pay 4 times more than I need to. Why would I?

    Hey cloudnine--
While Liam's post was generally condescending in it's tone, I think he has a valid point.  From a web professional's point of view, Muse is a great starting point for graphic designers coming to the web.  It's a great tool for a creative department to quickly generate working prototypes that are close to a professional website.
However, there's A LOT more that goes into designing and developing for the web that you need to know about for production-quality websites. Namely, advanced CSS authoring, cross-browser restraints and semantic HTML markup for the benefit of search engines.  Not to mention responsive design, image optimization, code minification and other skills required for the "mobile-first" approach which places a heavy focus on reducing network connections and bandwidth. "Mobile-first", responsive design for all screen sizes is the future.
I, too, have seen very impressive Muse sites but many of them feature 1mb, full-color, full sized PNG images all over the place-- slowing the site to a crawl. Sometimes, if people continue to use Muse and Dreamweaver's authoring techniques they miss out on the bigger picture of how to appropriately use stylesheets and write markup that search engines will eat up.
Using Muse and Dreamweaver are great for designers who are wanting to learn to code but I too would recommend getting outside of both those programs on occasion to flex your muscles.  You can create a great website with Notepad, an FTP client and a graphics program like  Photoshop, Fireworks or even the free GIMP.
A great tool I show people so they can play with markup and styles is http://scratchpad.io.  Peep it.
I believe there is a place for us all to coexist and some designer's code authoring levels are different.  BC and Muse are a great place for graphic designers publish websites using the Adobe authoring tools but to produce a standards-compliant, feature-rich website you'll eventually need to learn the best practices for HTML/CSS/Javascript.
You're right how most of us web professionals have crappy websites. Mine is too but that's usually because our paying work takes precedence.
Finally, don't get discouraged on this board.  There are lots of opinions and Liam is mostly harmless.  I think he just types too fast and his head moves faster than his fingers so sometimes his grammar is off but he means well and is one of the most active forum users here for BC.
    Best,
    Chris

  • Product Inventory System that Works With Business catalyst e-commerce site????  Tie into POS systems?

I am looking into getting involved with one of my long time design clients business more directly. Including, finding a solution for their inventory and being able to implement an e-commerce store for their products, which I would in turn get paid from a percentage of their online sales gross per month.
They operate a sort of mobile store that travels from various motorcycle events across the country with 3 different teams setting up at 3 different locations any one week or weekend. That aspect of the business is really seeing some serious cash sales, but they are constantly being asked about future online sales with the customers at these events which currently they have no solution for.
So I am curious if there are systems available that would or could work with a Adobe Business Catalyst e-commerce site that would allow for inventory to be scanned and bar-coded on delivery and would be able to have the new items logged into the website as sellable products while also giving the mobile stores a POS system that they can make sales from that track the current accurate inventory..  ???????

I did try unpinning but that didnt work for me either.
It took too long to get an answer so I am now using another system that doesnt have this problem. Hopefully when I use Muse again I wont have this problem. Sorry.
Thanks anyway. Maybe Ozaroth can send links to their site for instructions to get this solved.

  • Business Catalyst and Smart Phones

If I make a site in Muse then uplaod it to Business Catalyst can I make it Smart phone compatable from Business Catalyst?

    Hi Gabriel,
In order to make it compatible for smartphones from Business Catalyst you will have to design the pages or template for smartphones. Business Catalyst simply lets you design the templates for mobile devices separately.
The pages created in Muse will not be rendered smart phone compatible by business catalyst.
Also, that will not be backwards compatible with Muse. So, next time you publish through Muse, changes will be gone and you will have to make the changes again.
