Mobile Documents Folder Missing in 10.7.3?

I have a 13" MacBook Air and a 27" iMac that I just did the combo update to 10.7.3.  Since I have updated, I am missing the mobile documents folder.  If I upload a pages document to icloud.com on my iMac and then go to icloud.com on my MacBook Air, it show's the file, however, it's the default pages icon, and it doesn't give me the opportunity to download it.
Because of this, I thought I'd look in the "Mobile Documents" folder and see if I can access it from there.  However not that folder is missing.  I have tried many different ways to get it to show up but I've been unable to.
I'm curious if Apple realized some people were using this folder as a "Dropbox" and disabled or further hid the folder so people can't sync files back and forth.  More importantly, why doesn't icloud.com work for me as it used to?
Anyone have this happen to them?
Anyone know of any tricks to get the Mobile Documents folder to show up in 10.7.3?
Please help!

I can add a very related problem about this folder, after Lion 10.7.3 update.
I have a Goodreader app on my iPad and I used to use ~/Mobile Documents/.../Documents folder to transfer files
between my Mac and iPad.
After I updated my Mac to Lion 10.7.3, this method no longer works. Changes I make on my Mac's
~/Mobile Documents/.../Documents folder are no longer sent to the iCloud server and hence not pushed to my iPad. On the other hand, changes made on my iPad's Goodreader app continue to show up on the iCloud server, but they don't get pushed to my Mac.
So I confirm that this update causes problems.

  • Where can I find unsaved Pages documents? (default storage iCloud -- Former "mobile documents" folder)

Hey all, i have a serious situation here. I have written a a term paper in pages last friday and must have have soemhow forgotten to save it. Now i just wanted to proof read some sections and I had to find out that this document doesnt exist. Not on my mac, not in iCloud. To cut to the chase - After hours of reserach I have found out that unsaved iwork documents have been saved to ~/Library/Mobile Documents prior to MAC OS 10.7.3.
I actually have found rather complicated manuals on how to get this mobile documents folder up and running but I guess it will only start saving stuff in there by now...?
So before I spend another 2 hours trying to get the mobile documents folder back into my librarby I rather start writing my paper all over
Maybe someone of you has experienced a similar problem and can help me out here... I seriously could cry !! So dont want to write everything again...
Please help me!! Thanks a lot!

    Hi
I'm having same issu over here.
    Her is my setup
iMac 27" 2014 running Mavericks latest version.
    iPad Mini running iOS 8.0.0
MacBook Air 2013 running latest version of Yosemite Public Beta
    iPhone 4 running OS 7.1.2
Everything was working like a charm using iCloud Drive and all my Keynote, Pages and Numbers files stored on iCloud.
I could sync with the iMac due to the fact that I'm still on Mavericks, but that didn't bother me. And I don't use Keynote, Pages or Numbers
    on my iPhone 4.
I just got an iPhone 6 Gold 64 Go and this is where it all went wrong.
After installation and update to 8.0.2 and setup of my new iPhone, I launched
keynote to see if I could access the presentations I had been working on.
And oh! Horror!!! A popup saying presenting have been deleted from another device....
So I hop back over to my iPad Mini where I had been working on an important presentation... Gone!!
All my presentations... Gone! More that 30 of them... Vanished.
But no problems with Pages or Numbers.... Weird....
Please Please Please help Apple.... I need these files and was solely relying on icloud for backing up my work. That was probably a bad bad move.
Thanks for helping. I see I'm not alone....

  • Weird delays opening files related to Mobile Documents folder

This is a very weird situation. With iCloud enabled, I get a weird delay when opening files.
    What happens:
I open basically any sort of file (word, pages, zip file, etc).
I will get the spinning beachball for 5-10 seconds and cannot interact with the program in any way.
The following appears in the System Log:

In addition, each time this happens it seems to create an additional "Mobile Documents" folder in ~/Library/, see below:

This issue occurs whether or not I have "Documents & Data" selected for sync in iCloud preferences.
Interestingly enough, if I immediately open another file after this occurs, the issue does not happen again right away. However, if I wait about two minutes and open one, it does occur every time.
(Note: My acount name and email address have been replaced with "username" but the log is otherwise unaltered)

I have the exact same problem.  It's been driving me crazy ever since I "upgraded" to Lion.  I finally traced it to iCloud and the Mobile Documents folder using Console, which lead me here.
Any time I launch Pages, QuickTime, or TextEdit (TextEdit, really?), the first file I try to open gives me the spinning beachball of death for about 10 seconds before I can do anything.
I did numerous searches regarding the spinning beach ball of death in relation to those apps and found nothing germaine before I specifically searched for "collection does not match configured AppleID." This makes me think that a lot of other people are having this problem who just haven't discovered this thread.
I will try disabling "Documents & Data" but an actual fix would be greatly appreciated.  "It just works" has not applied to many aspects of iCloud.  I thought MobileMe had its issues, but iCloud is a mess in my personal experience, well beyond this issue.  I appreciate the potential and am clinging to some faith in Apple, but Lion and iCloud have been REALLY testing my patience.  Snow Leopard was a rock.  This all seems like beta software hastily ported from iOS.

  • Can iCloud documents in Mobile Documents folder be restored from a Time Machine backup?

Integration with iCloud seems much improved so far in Mountain Lion. Thanks, Apple! Just to be on the safe side, though: are documents stored in the ~/Library/Mobile Documents folder included in Time Machine backups, and fully restorable? This seemed a little uneven prior to Mountain Lion.
I just wanted to make sure that these documents are always backed up in case there is ever a problem with iCloud (or in case I simply make a mistake and an unintended change or deletion propogates across all my devices and I need to restore an earlier version).

Wow! It didn't occur to me that it would work this way, although of course it makes perfect sense—and it works. I just tried it.
It doesn't actually seem to work with older documents (I tried in Pages), and I'm not sure if that problem has to do with Mountain Lion, or previous versions of iWork apps, or both. But I tried it with a fresh document, deleted it restored it, and was able to use it. So finally it seems that iCloud works the way it should.
    Thanks again.

  • No Mobile Documents Folder Being Created on a 2007 MBP

This is just a observation regarding iCloud that someone might have a answer for but it's not imperative.
I'm running a MBP 2010 as well as a MBP 2007 and using the iCloud works since I've tested it out with Pages, were I uploaded a document from Pages on the 2010 and downloaded it onto the 2007 without a hitch other than having to verify my email address with Apple, but through all this the "Mobile Documents" folder was'nt created on the 2007 MBP but it has been on the 2010 MBP.

I'm not certain if there's a cause and effect here, but I was able to find the Mobile Documents folder on my iMac easily.  But when I went to my MacBook, it was not there even though I had Lion on both with iCloud docs enabled.  I tried everything and nothing worked.  But before hitting the sack, I realized I had not yet set up "Mail" on the MacBook.  I set that up with my accounts and just for the heck of it went back to the library and Mobile Documents was there.  Not sure if this is related at all...but that was the only thing I did.  Perhaps just a fluke but if you're like me, I was pulling my hair out.  Relieved that a solution somehow appeared.

  • Mobile Applications folder missing

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to acces files, which are supposed to be located inside the "Mobile Applications" folder, which should be located at
    C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media.
However, this folder is missing. The only things that are present in the iTunes Media folder are:
A folder named Automatically Add to iTunes, both one in English and Dutch "(my PC language) and both are empty.
Another folder named Music, which is also empty.
    A file called .iTunes Preferences.plist
    No Mobile Applications folder whatsoever.
iTunes version I am using is the latest. (iTunes 12)
    OS is Windows 8.1
Device I am connecting with the PC is an iPod Touch 4th Gen. (running iOS 6.1.6)
    Some notes:
I have tried syncing the iPod with the computer, creating a backup at AppData, but that still did not make a folder called "Mobile Applications" appear.
I have downloaded all my apps through the iPod's App store, not through iTunes on the PC itself.
    I'll appreciate any help!

If this is a new computer that the device has never synced with see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
The process of recovering transferring purchases and recovering other media should create the folder in question. In some cases it may be one level up in the iTunes folder, but that is unlikely here. The only other possibility is that you're not looking in the active media folder.

  • SAP Mobile Documents buttons missing

    Hi gurus,
I have installed SAP Mobile Documents server, and mobile applications on devices are working as expected, but web app is not showing action buttons (create, share, delete ...) when a file is selected, only info properties icon (with letter i shows up) and there is no logon info or help buttons in the upper right corner of the screen.
Does anyone have an idea, what could be the problem? Version of MCM server is SP2 patch3.
    BR, Igor

    Hi,
looking at the screenshot (especially the weird looking checkboxes to the left of the items of the table), it seems that the UI5 Version is not the one we need. You should at least have UI5 Version 1.16.5. You can find out which version is used if you press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+P. A popup should get displayed, showing some general information about UI5.
    Best Regards,
    Ingo

  • I am missing a folder called "Mobile Documents" for iCloud access

In today's (1/21/13) OSX daily, they talk about a cool, free utility/app called Plain Cloud at which gives easy desktop access and  syncing to iCloud from the desktop like DropBox. They talk about a folder that’s inside the user Library folder called "Mobile Documents" which needs to be accessed. There is no folder by that name in either my user Library or System Library folder, or in fact anywhere on my drive and therefore when I try to run Plain Cloud, I get an error message saying that it "can't find iCloud folder". Since my iCloud is apparently set up properly and I can access it from icloud.com and thru iTunes, why would this "Mobile Documents" folder be missing from my user Library folder and how can I add it so I can use the Plain Cloud utility?
    Thanks,
    JAY

What do you mean access icloud through itunes?
Are you successfully able to sync some Apple data via itunes (like contacts or calendars)?  If you haven't tried yet, it's possible your mac isn't yet connected to icloud (being able to access icloud.com means nothing in this case).
System Preferences>icloud, have you turned any of these services on and have you signed into icloud?

  • Can I delete the folder (Mobile Documents) on my Mac?

I just wanna the Pages document in the Cloud, not on my Mac… I wanna do the download on the iPad. Just like iTunes Match. I have the reference (doc icon to download) but the the file. For files dmg.txt and the how others? Maybe in the System Preferences uncheck Documents & Data? That's it? I just wanna use the iPad to sync Pages docs, the dmg.txt files only in the cloud to download? Is this possible?
    thanks

Sorry. When you said you "unchecked iCloud Mail," I thought you were not wanting to use it on your Mac.
To answer your original question, I don't know whether you can delete the Mobile Documents folder from your Mac. Or rather, I don't know what might happen if you do. Better have a couple of good backup copies of your boot volume before you try it. (A good idea for anything that requires "sudo" even if you have researched it thoroughly.)

  • How to use Mobile Documents in Library in my Mac as backup for iCloud?

Does anyone know how I can ensure the Mobile Documents in Library in my Mac contain updated versions of the documents created and modified in iCloud (just to be safe)? I know the purpose of iCloud is to host these documents and make them available to all my devises, but I want to maintain a backup on my own mac as well, just in case.
Thanks in advance for the help!

    Andrew K Y Wong wrote:
I logged on to icloud through Safari on my mac. I can see all the updated files there.
Is the mac reading the files from the Mobile Documents folder? If so, then that is very weird indeed.
No, it's not using the mobile documents folder if you are viewing the documents thrrough your browser, but it is using the Mobile Documents folder when you view all your documents from the iWork applications themselves.
I've been assuming you see them there.

  • If I delete a file in iCloud, what happens to the local file in ~/Library/Mobile Documents ?

If I delete a file in iCloud, what happens to the local file in ~/Library/Mobile Documents ? Does it get deleted to?
    Hope somebody can help.
    Thx.

I'm pretty certain that it gets deleted as well. If you try and open that mobile documents folder, it takes you to the iCloud drive folder. I've been searching for this same issue for the last 24 hours also as I inadvertently deleted my Keynote files stored on iCloud drive thinking I was just temporarily deleting Keynote from my iPad when upgrading to the latest iOS 8 version. (I needed space and thought, "Oh, I'll just reinstall later... Turns out I was in the iCloud storage area, not in my iPad storage area at the time and therefore deleted all my iCloud stored presentations. From every device.)

  • Keychain sync - using Mobile Documents?

    Hello All,
Like many, I'm disappointed that Keychain sync has been dropped, as I have two Macs between which I absolutely need to sync the keychains.
I see that if you enable "Documents and Data" sync in the iCloud Preferences on each Mac, then anything you put in a folder called ~Library/Mobile Documents gets synced between devices.
So, for keychain, would the following workaround be successful, which makes use of the ~Library/Mobile Documents/ folder?
Make a copy of login.keychain (on all your Macs) for backup
Copy that login.keychain to ~Library/Mobile Documents on one Mac
    (Watch it sync between devices)
Delete the login.keychain (using Keychain access) on each Mac
"Add keychain" on each Mac, pointing to the login.keychain in the Mobile Documents folder
Whilst I know that it will physically sync the keychain, my questions are:
Is there a problem with two macs simultaneously talking to the same keychain (as I have both on at the same time)?
    Is the data secure?
Any other problems with using this folder (which I assume really isn't for such system items)
    Thanks!

Syncing of documents between Macs using the mobile documents folder has not worked since OS X 10.7.2.

  • The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk.

The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk
I was hoping my files would stay in the cloud and not take up a ton of space on my machine (only a 128gb SSD).  But while performing an overnight time machine backup I came back to find a "Startup Disk Full" error message.  I only have about 20gb used locally but over 200gb in iCloud Drive at the moment.
Is there a way to clear the cache so my files stay on iCloud and not hogging space on my SSD? Or a way to redirect this library to my 2nd hard drive?
I'm using a 15" mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a 1TB hard drive and I've replaced the optical drive with a 128gb SSD for my OS (which is where my library is, hence the difficulty).
    Thank you!

While puttering around after posting this I think I found my personal solution here: http://macs.about.com/od/diyguidesprojects/qt/Move-Your-Home-Folder-To-A-New-Loc ation.htm
I'm just going to move my home folder to my 2nd internal 1TB hard drive to solve my problem.
But my question remains, how can we minimize the amount of local space iCloud Drive ***** up?  I wanted to get the rumored new macbook air that might come out next year but this is a big turn off if iCloud drive is going to overwhelm the SSD in the AIr.

  • How to confirm the var/mobile/...../Document folder is in the archive package

I'm a newbie, so I'm not sure I am saying this correctly, so bear with me.  I recently uploaded my app to itunes Connect and was "Ready for sale" a few days ago.  When it appeared in the App Store I purchased it to see how it looks.  I noticed that the information contained in my database, that I didn't want updated appeared correctly.  However, the information I wanted updated did not appear.  I suspect that maybe I didn't archive the var/mobile/....../Documents folder.  How can I verify that I did? and if I did why didn't it appear?  Thanks in advance for any help or insight you can share.

  • Non-auto-sync idisk missing Documents Folder

I am not keeping a local copy of iDisk on my MBA w/Lion. I do a Finder/Go/iDisk to access my iDisk folders. iDisk shows up as a device in the Sidebar. I click on it and my iDisk folders are available except for one folder -- Documents. This folder can be accessed using Safari and on my iPad and iPhone. How can I get access to the iDisk Documents folder on my MBA?
    Thanks
    Mike

Ron, a somewhat simpler way is to turn on two options:
    -Keep my folder organized
-Copy added music to iTunes library
The keep my folder organized part will have it reorganize the folder by artist/album/songname. This is not undoable, so be sure you want it to keep the stuff organized.
The second option means that when you drag music into iTunes, the music gets copied to that folder automatically. I use this, and then after dragging music into iTunes, I can delete it because iTunes has it's own copy in the music folder.
This is probably the easiest way to let iTunes deal with it, if you don't care about the actual folder organization itself.
