Subinventory LOV not getting populated in Mobile Field Service Pocket PC

Hi,
After installing Mobile Field Service Pocket PC on a Windows Emulator, and connecting to Oracle Database Lite webtogo, while trying to create a parts requirement the subinventory LOV is empty. The other fields like item and address are getting populated.Because the Subinventory cannot be selected , the order cannot be created.

Error when installing Oracle Lite for Mobile Field Service Laptop

Hi,
I am facing a strange problem when installing Mobile Field Service Laptop agent "Oracle Lite" on my laptop.
When I run the setup, it asks me username and password, after entering the information, when I proceed, I see setup window which displays below messages
"Authenticating with server... "
Please wait. This may take several minutes ...
Then it hangs for several minutes, approx 5 to 10 mins, and then gives message
"Could not connect to server: HTTP/1.0 502 Bad Gateway"
I am not able to proceed with setup.
But none of my other colleagues are facing this issue, even though the network, proxy settings and java version are same.
Any idea about this error?

Is anyone successfully using Mobile Field service - laptop version in 12.2.X ?

We need this type of functionality but we are on 12.0.6. We are considering upgrading but we were going to upgrade later this year. However, we need this type of functionality as soon as possible. Is anyone using Mobile Field Service in 12.2.X with laptops?

I am using an O2 XDA II with Pocket PC 4.2. I am using IAS 9.0.4.0.0.
I have defined a service in my midtier which outputs XML with a signature box:
<SimpleFormItem name="p_signature" type="signature"> etc
My PDA displays the signature box correctly in the web browser.
When I sign the box and press Submit the following data items are returned to the midtier:
Query String: "sigSubmit=mySubmit&sig_width=200&sig_height=100&sig=&personName=tim"
Notice that the sig data is null.
I know that my IAS version is a little low, but, the problem appears to be that the plug-in in the browser is not returning any sig data.
Do I have an old version of the plug-in?
Have you used this plug-in?
Has it worked for you?
Do you know where I can get a newer version of this plug-in as it must work with Oracle Apps?

Mobile Field Service Laptop - Modify local client pages

Has anyone successfully modified the pages on the local client for Mobile Field Service / Laptop. We are wanting to hide some functions from the field service rep (I.e. Create SR) and change some default values in drop down lists.
We can make the changes to the .jsp pretty easily, but are unable to "push" the changes to the client.
Anyone with ideas / experience?

Personalizing/customizing Mobile Field Service in R12

Hello,
We are trying to add some fields and also restrict choices in some dropdown lists in MFS. Right now I am clueless on how to proceed as this is my first time working with MFS. I have seen the personalization using Mobile Field Service Developer responsibility, but it is not like regular OAF personalization where I could add a field if it is available in the underlying VO. Has anybody done any personalizations in MFS? Some examples would really help, even if they may not be related.

The version of mobile server embedded in MFS is 10.3. This first came out 7 or so years ago, well before Windows 7. Mobile Server 10.3/10.2 is not supported on Windows 7.

Is there anyone using the mobile field service module (Laptop version)???
Does it work ?
If so, what kind of communication do you use ? (gsm-data / gprs / ??)
There is no sign of a single customer that uses it !!???!!

Hi,
i've seen several reactions: at the end it depends if the FSE were using another application previously or not and what was the level of that application.
Usually MFS provides all that is needed for a FSE to look at. Of course that i've seen cases where the pocket pc version was chosen instead of the laptop simply because the FSE didn't want to carry a laptop and it looks quite fancy to use a PDA!
Personally, i think that it depends on the business and on the customer needs in terms of functionality and the amount of engineers that you will deploy to (costs).

Mobile Field Service Laptop setup login

I have Oracle Lite 10.3.0.2.0 and Oracle Business 12.1.1
I used for implementation note 846572.1 from support.oracle.com
Problem is:
When I try to install the laptop client application I received the error "Invalid the user name/password: my.user".
I checked file webtogo.ora for section "External Authentication" to have CLASS=oracle.apps.asg.setup.AsgAuthenticator and EXPIRATION=0.
Somebody can help?

Path to Java_home it was wrong.
I enabled trace and I see in log the messege "Missing class: oracle.apps.asg.setup.AsgAuthenticator".
I check my java_home which was to jdk folder not to java classes of application. I change and it works.

You must install and configure Oracle10g Lite Release 2 (10.2.0.1) followed by additional patch sets mentioned below before implementing Oracle Mobile Application Foundation. Oracle10g Lite is not included in the R12 Oracle Applications Rapid Install,
so you must install Oracle10g Lite before proceeding to the Oracle Mobile Application Foundation implementation steps.
It seems yes you must install. By the way Before start process I suggest first review below notes, coz that pdf seems old.

Files for New Field Service Laptop

Server is Oracle Database Lite 10g R3 (10.3.0.2) for Linux and arhitecture is: Oracle Application is install on machine 1, Oracle Database on machine 2, Oracle Lite Database and Mobile Server are install on machine 2.
I want to install to Mobile Server application "new field service technician". I found the CSML.zip on Oracle Application (Machine 1) in folder csm/html/download.
I run java command to run installation manager

In this point, I can see a new application in Mobile Server Administration webpage on Mobile Server.
I acces my server http://myserver:port/webtogo, I'm loggin with administrator user, I acces "mobile manager", In new page oppened, I access my server, then applications link and "new field service laptop" application. Here can see "properties", "access", "data subsetting", "files" and "add war file".
In "Files", I don't have any files.
How can populate with files this application?

Field Service Dispatch Center has Map feature using which a Dispatcher can get a GIS map display of the assigned work, along with the Plan Board and Gantt chart views.
Mobile Field Service Wireless for PDAs has the ability to get driving directions (with a map display) between the assigned tasks. Further, a Field Service Technician can receive directions between any two addresses.

Same old message - no solution! "this iphone cannot be used because the apple mobile device service is not started"

Hello all,
This driving me crazy - I have done it all - read through every forum and post - inculding all here. None of them resolves my issue...
The details:
Iphone - 4 - with IOS 5.0.1 (not the 4S)
itunes version 10.5.2 64bit
Laptop - running Windows 7 home premium 64bit
(and just in case) - running Norton 360 with firewall settings for all iphone programs set to 'allways' I assume this is better than auto (yes I tried both)
I've done the lot - reset the services , start / stopped them, automatic etc etc. no joy - as soon as i plug the phone in via USB the same old message:
"this iphone cannot be used because the apple mobile device service is not started" driving me mad.
Itunes will not recognize it as a device etc. nothing - PLEASE HELP....

If the issue continues after restarting AMDS, then you'll need to remove and reinstall AMDS and iTunes.
Completely uninstall AMDS, iTunes, and all Apple software. Click the appropriate links below for steps:
Windows XP
Windows Vista or Windows 7
Restart the computer.
Download and install (or reinstall) the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes. Installing iTunes will also install AMDS.
Restart the computer.
Start iTunes and connect the device. It should be recognized properly in Windows.

As the solution is new the documentation is a little light in detail so this is obviously a good place to document in more detail the setup and configuration.

Mobile Concierge - Venue Wizard
So the first thing that the Concierge service gets you to create is a venue. You do this by using the wizard.

Venue Name
So this will be the venue/location what you want this service to run at. For example if this is a Shopping Centre/Mall, Sports venue then you would give it the name of your Venue. e.g Dolphin Shopping Mall or BlackCats Stadium (made up names :-) )
As i am seting up this in our offices for testing i have given it the name of our company.
Floor outdoor/Association
Area Type - Next you choose area type either a floor area or outdoor. I have chosen floor area as i am looking to use this service internally.
Campus - Select that campus that you created in PI and want this service to work with.
Building - Select the building that you created in PI and you want this service to work with.
Floor - Select the Floor that you created in PI and you want this service to work with.
Coverage area - Select the Coverage area that you created in PI and you want this service to work with.
Selected Map - Once you have selected the coverage area above the map URL should be displayed here.
Click Next takes you to the next section.
Audio
Here you can select the audio that you wish touse for notifications and you can add up to three.
The manual does not explain what format these need to be in so PLEASE CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS PELASE
Am guessing that this is the audio that is played on the mobile device for a notification but this needs clarification.
Icons
Again the manaual does not explain the use of icons, PLEASE CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE USE OF ICONS, WHAT FORMAT,SIZE ETC TO USE.
Am guessing that it is the icon that is displayed on the mobile device as part of MSAP (Mobile Services Advertismanet Protocol) but i am just guessing.
Venue APPs
Again the manual does not explain how this is actually implemented. I expect that this is how you specify through MSAP the APP's that are available at your location.
You enter the name of your app and i guess this is the actual name that appears on the mobile device.
You have the following options:
Web APP
Windows Phone OS
Android
BBOS
IOS
Symbian
WebOS
Windows Mobile
Desktop OS
Other
Am guessing that if you enter a URL in the first field (THAT HAS NO LABLE!!!) and select Web APP, that it will launch this URL in a browser on the mobile device.
Or if you have an APP that is installed on the mobile device you can launch it by specifing the APP name in a special format???
Again though i am just guessing so PLEASE CAN SOMEONE CLARIFY THIS PLEASE
Additonal Information
I think the next information is for Meriden who are Cisco's partner for mobile APP development.
Enter the location detail in the Location Detail text box. This provides details such as store address, zip code, or street address of the venue.
Enter the GPS latitude and longitude of the venue in the Latitude and Longitude text box. This helps the applications to identify the venue accurately.
Enter any other additional information that the venue would like to provide to the mobile application in the Additional Information text box.
Once you click save the information is applied in MSE.
So that is the first step in setting up the Mobile Concierge Service. What i would also like to know is that when you create a venue you ahve to specify a floor plan. So does this mean that if you have multiple floors that you have to create multiple venues? Or does it only work for one floor at the moment?
So over to the experts, can you ANSWER THE MAIN POINTS THAT ARE IN CAPITAL LETTERS ABOVE. I have put them in capital so that they stand out from all of the text.
