Mobile hotspot drops connection when call comes in

When my laptop is connect to internet via mobile hotspot on my pre I can't receive calls on the phone without loosing the internet. Is this normal? The hotspot connection stays on, but I can't work on the internet during a phone call.
Post relates to: Tungsten E2

It's completely normal.
Sprint and Verizon use the CDMA network. It does not allow for simultaneous voice/data usage.
ATT with its GSM network does however.

  • Fix for Airserver or Reflector ( drops connection when call comes in )

    Hey Guys
Today i am using AirServer and it works great to be able to show your IPad on you PC or MAC. The problem is that i am sharing a app that  does a voice and video call and when the call connects it drops connection of the sharing on the MAC / PC. Once the Phone / Video connection is ended Airserver comes back up and works like advertised. (I just tried Reflector and they both work the same). Don't know if this a securty thing in IOS or not might be ? Any work arounds ? I already sent emails to both Airserver and Reflector. Open to other products if needed.
Does anyone know a solution which might work to be able to share the IPad / IPhone on PC / Mac and not drop the connection. If solution only works on a Mac that is fine as well.
    Device
    IPad 2 running IOS 7.0.4
    Displaying to the following:
AirServer version 1.9.4.0 Windows on Win 7 32 bit.
AirServier version 4.8.1 on Mavericks on a Mac Book Air.
    Thx
    Dave

Still have the problem does anyone know a fix for this by chance ?>
Anyone know of a application or way to use a lightning to hdmi into a PC or Mac that would allow to show just half of the of the real estate on your monitor ( Similer to Airserver ?). I assume i need some capture card basically i want to be able to show half the screen with my IPAD and show a browser on the other half of the screen.
BTW I am using a IPad Air now running IOS 7.04 same thing.

  • Have an iPhone 5. Phone does not ring when calls come in and texts sent from non-iPhones are delayed by 4-5 hours before receiving.

Have an iPhone 5. Phone does not ring when calls come in and texts sent from non-iPhones are delayed by 4-5 hours before receiving.

This morning I woke up thinking that I should turn off my iPhone and then call it from a land line.  If the problem is the network then there would be a delay before I heard ringing.
I turned my iPhone off and called it.  Right away I heard my message.
I turned my iPhone back on and called it.  It rang right away!
So, did Virgin Mobile fix the problem or did turning my iPhone off fix the problem?
I don't know, but I'll take either.  I do know that Virgin Mobile said it would be four days to check the problem.  Did the problem get fixed yesterday when the four business days were up.  I do know that I've had my iPhone on for a long, long time.  Did upgrading to 6.1.1 or 6.1.2 cause the problem and turning my iPhone off reset my iPhone?
If you have delayed ringing problem and turning your iPhone off and on again resolved it, please post a note here.
P.S. I did call Virgin Mobile and its records show the investigation is still open.  I hope my points get passed on to the investigators.
P.P.S. Reading my notes, I had turned my iPhone off and on last week.  Maybe it's all the phase of the moon.

  • Pre Plus Mobile Hotspot laptop connection issues

    Hello All.
I think this is a duplicate post because I hit enter accidentally!  Sorry.
I am having a problem connecting my laptop to the internet using Mobile Hotspot through VzW.  I have activated the feature on VzW, have the software loaded on my Pre Plus and have tested it successfully with my daughter's iTouch device.  She was able to easily connect and access the web while we were in the car.
My laptop recognizes the MHS as a WiFi access and connects to it initially.  When it tries to acquire a network address, it fails.  I says that the connection has limited or no connectivity.  I cannot get on the web with that.
My question is what settings I might need to set on my laptop to help with this connectivity.  I have WAP Personal set with the appropriate Key on both devices.
Any thoughts from anyone?  I would appreciate any help.  I like the concept of the feature but not being able to connect my laptop really puts a damper on my enthusiasm!
Thanks for any help you can give.

I had the same issue. I resolved it by using a passcode that has 8 lowercase letters and no numbers...

  • Unable to slide to answer when call comes in?

    Hi All,
Does this issue happens to iPhone 4 or all other generations of iPhone? I'm unable to slide to answer my phone calls at least 60% of the time and i have to try multiple times to slide which doesn't sometimes doesn't stick to my sliding??? Is there any suggestions or solutions to this? Sorry if this has been posted before.

A probably similar problem occurs sometimes on my own iPhone 4 and on my wife's iPhone 4.
When a call comes in, "slide to accept" does not work properly. It can be moved half-way across the screen but then it snaps back. Then I try to slide it again and again and eventually it works, before the call is lost. For me, this problem only occurs about 5% of the time (probably less often on my wife's iPhone), and I remember that it happened also sometimes with my old iPhone 3gs. This is very annoying.
I think that in this mild form the problem occurs very often. See, for example, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2486329
and there seems to be no solution so far.
Please, Apple, do something about this.

  • Missing Softkeys - no hold or transfer when call comes in

CCM 4.1.3 - When caller 1 is on hold and the handset is in the cradle, a 2nd call comes in and when it is answered by lifting the handset the active call does not follow. You are left at line 1 and have to press the current line button to get the "hold" and "transfer" keys to appear for that line. Otherwise you only have the resume features for the call on line 1. If you have the handset lifted and press the line button for the imcoming call everything works normal. We have reapplied the button templates and updated the phone loads.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,
I think what you are running into here is that you have "Always Use Prime Line" set to True in the CCM Clusterwide parameters (Device-Phone). If you change this setting to False, the phone behaviour will work the way you want.
    Hope this helps!

    Hi,
Actually I am confused abt wht you want.
If you want to establish connection at the instant of calling :-
The Voice call has the higher priority than Data call so u cant establish a connection at the instant when you are calling
If you want method to establish a connection for call then
you can try with platformRequest(url) of midp2

  • Assigned ringtones don't work when calls come from contacts?

I have set ringtones on some of my contacts and it shows when looking at them, but when a call comes in from one of them it rings on my phone with the main default ringtone.
I set these tones, then hit "save," and then hit "done."
    What is missing?

All ringtones I created in GarageBand needed to be replaced w/ newly edited ones, created after all updates were installed. Now they work fine. Probably just a formatting issue. A pain, I know, but at least I have the answer.
This is not the first time an OS update broke my tones.
If you downloaded ringtones from iTunes, try deleting them, then re-downloading.

  • WRT54G2 dropping connection when I use security

I can only get connection that is stable when I eliminate all security.  I have gone through both levels of security on multiple computers and still cannot hold a stable connection unless I disable all security.  Im looking for any advice I can get.

From your post, I assume that you are able to make a secure wireless connection, and that your Internet connection works through this secured wireless connection, but that you frequently loose your wireless connection  ---  is that all correct?
If so, then the most likely cause is that you simply have a poor wireless connection.   Secured wireless requires a more solid wireless connection than is needed for unsecured wireless.  So when you have a poor connection, your secured wireless is more likely to drop your connection.  Note that you can have a poor wireless connection even if your computer shows "five bars".
There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. If your router has external antenna, they should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless adapter.
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching to WPA encryption.
If you continue to have problems, try the following:
For wireless g routers, try setting the "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
If you still have trouble, download and install the latest firmware for your router. After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Videos erase when calls come in!!!! I'm so mad!!

I've officially decided to never use my Iphone 4g for videoing any type of special events ever again!! Two nights in a row while taping some special occasions w/ my children (Birthday for one/ First words for the other) the iphone completely dropped the ball!! I'm irate. The first one of my daughter while taping everying sing 'happy birthday' a call came in and interrupted the vid.. Well normally it would save but it simply trashed the previous 5 minutes of footage!! Ridiculous. Tonight, in order to prevent the same incident while taping my son say "da da" for the first time, I put the phone on Airplane mode. Somehow when I was done I pressed the button to finish the vid then I pressed the home button. When I go back into the photos the vid is gone!!!
Thanks.. I'd really like to have those two special moments back... What a disappointment.

The iPhone has a one year warranty. Get it fixed or replaced.
Make an appointment to have an Apple Genius look at your phone at an Apple Retail Store. If it's defective, they can replace it on the spot. http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
Or call U.S. iPhone technical support: 1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466). They can help you get a replacement shipped.

  • Dropped connection when using Desktop and laptop

I have a Motorala cable modem connected to a Linksys 10/100 5-port Work Group Switch. I have my desktop connected to this switch and have a WRT5G Wireless Router connected also. The problem is that when my lap top is connected to the internet, the desktop does not connect and vice versa. When the desktop is connected, the laptop shows that there is a wireless connection, but the browser comes up saying no connection. Any advice?

Why exactly do you have this setup? The normal setup would be cable modem connecting to router. Computers (wired and wireless) connecting to router.
How exactly do you "connect" your desktop or laptop to the internet? What do you do to get a connection?
What you have is two devices connected directly the modem and thus your ISP. Unless the modem is actually a modem/router this won't work if your ISP does not allow more then 1 internet connection at a time.
I suspect this slightly setup is the actual problem. If you use the desktop, the desktop gets the IP address from the ISP. Now the desktop is using internet connection through the modem. Thus, your router cannot connect to the internet nor your laptop.
When your router connects to the internet it gets the IP address from the ISP. Again, the desktop cannot get an IP address anymore because the internet connection is already used.
The normal setup is that the internet port of your router is connected to the modem. The purpose of a router like the WRT is to share a single internet connection among several computers - wired and wireless.
Therefore I would suggest you connect the internet port of the WRT to the modem directly and hook up the desktop to a LAN port of the WRT. You can also connect the switch to a LAN port. Now desktop and laptop share the internet connection established by the WRT.

  • Router drops connection when another user joins.

I recently moved and am using a new router and internet setup, everything works fine until my roomate tries to connect, it will immediately drop both me and him and I get a limited access warning when trying to reconnect to the router.
The router in question is a WRT 110 linksys model
it works fine if one of us is logged on and it will work fine if after we get booted I unplug it for about 10 seconds but if one of us is using the internet and the other tries to get access we both get dropped.  Scratching my head on this one.
    Any help is greatly appreciated

Is it working now? Try to enable MAC cloning and clone your PC's MAC address. That should work.
