Mobile Hotspot through phone

Hey I have a Droid RAZR on the new share everything plan. I can see that the mobile hotspot feature is included with no charge but does it use the data from my plan or am i charge separately for the data that is use while the hotspot is enabled?

It uses data from your data plan.

  • Can you add data to a  4g lte mobil hotspot through my verizon

I have an  iphone 4  on my current "my Verizon", can a 4g lte mobil hotspot be managed with that account ?

You can add the 2GB of hotspot data either on line or by calling *611 or 1-800-922-0204  I believe some cell plans have the hotspot included.
    Good Luck

  • Use mobile hotspot to provide internet to Aiport Extreme?

I just got a Sierra W801 mobile hotspot and want to use it as my internet for my home network. Right now it is tethered to my iMac via USB. It does not have any other ports, only wireless b/g and can only connect to up to 5 devices.
I can think of two ways that might work, but so far have been unable to make either of these work.
    1. Set my iMac up to share it's internet connection (provided by the mobile hotspot) through its ethernet port which is connected to the airport extreme.
    Or..
    2. Use the airport extreme to joint the wireless network provided by the mobile hotspot. This is how it is currently set up, but AppleTV won't talk to my iMac and the cable box can't get to the internet via ethernet. But at least I have a green light.
Which of these two might have the best chance of success? Is there perhaps another option that I'm not aware of?

Something like this type of Cellular Broadband Adapter would do what you want, assuming that it is compatible with your provider's service.

  • Pre Plus Mobile Hotspot laptop connection issues

    Hello All.
I think this is a duplicate post because I hit enter accidentally!  Sorry.
I am having a problem connecting my laptop to the internet using Mobile Hotspot through VzW.  I have activated the feature on VzW, have the software loaded on my Pre Plus and have tested it successfully with my daughter's iTouch device.  She was able to easily connect and access the web while we were in the car.
My laptop recognizes the MHS as a WiFi access and connects to it initially.  When it tries to acquire a network address, it fails.  I says that the connection has limited or no connectivity.  I cannot get on the web with that.
My question is what settings I might need to set on my laptop to help with this connectivity.  I have WAP Personal set with the appropriate Key on both devices.
Any thoughts from anyone?  I would appreciate any help.  I like the concept of the feature but not being able to connect my laptop really puts a damper on my enthusiasm!
Thanks for any help you can give.

I had the same issue. I resolved it by using a passcode that has 8 lowercase letters and no numbers...

  • Can I buy an iPad which can be used as a Mobile Hotspot and used to make Phone Calls?

Can I use the new iPad as a phone and a mobile hotspot?

Yes, it can be used as a mobile hotspot if your carrier supports it. iPads can only make calls using Voice Over IP apps such as Skype or FaceTime.

  • Mobile hotspot. Does data used on the phone count toward 5 gig?

or is the phone data unlimited?

Whenever Mobile Hotspot is ON, all data counts toward the 5gig limit.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • How do I retrieve my password for the mobile hotspot on my phone?

I have forgotten the password for the mobile hotspot on my Droid Bionic phone. How can I retrieve it or reset it?

You should be able to view it in the mobile hotspot settings.  At least that's how my Nexus and Tbolt work.

  • Phones with free mobile hotspot

Are there any phones (besides the WebOS Palm Pre Plus) that you can use as a mobile hotspot or tether for free?
I don't really like my Palm Pre and I would like to get a Droid or Iphone, but my main use for my phone is a mobile hotspot. I know that you can add it as a feature to other phones for an extra $20-$30 per month, but I don't want to pay more than I already am. If that were the case, I would switch to another provider we have in town that would be much cheaper (but not as good coverage).
Thanks in advance for your help!!

  • VPN through mobile hotspot

I have an application where I need to have a VPN in a remote location. I have a Virgin Mobile hotspot connected wirelessly to a Cradlepoint CBR400. The Cradlepoint is set for IP passthrough. Then behind the Cradlepoint I have a RV120W. I have DYDNS setup on the RV120W. I know I have internet connectivity because the DYDNS updates with the IP that is assigned to the RV120 by the hotspot. I cannot get the  VPN to connect. I have tried QuickVPV Client, GreenBow and the windows native.

I am working on a similar project for a client. I'm thinking it has something to do with the cellular NAT.
I'm trying to work with AT&T now and their AccesMyLan product, but I'm not having much luck either.

  • Connecting c309a to a wireless network, the printer does not find my mobile hotspot connection.

I switched to a mobile hotspot w/verizon.  I had set up my computers (2) just fine the first time.  I had to exchange the hotspot. I was told by my computer to insert a flashdrive and transfer my network settings to the printer and other computer.  After inserting the flashdrive into my photosmart c309a printer, it flashed "turn off and on"  I did, then the printer had lost the network settings menu altogether!  I took it to bestbuy to be looked over and was told they were able to get my network menu back but it was still unable to register a wireless connection?? I'm not sure what to do now?

Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.  There is what I believe to be a similar situation here in the states with ATT 2Wire routers.  This is a cut and paste from instructions on how to fix that.  Try it and see if it works.
    - Unplug the telephone line from the router
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the device.
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - In screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP.  You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range).  If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 255 (the last number in the address).
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Use the router's IP address for the gateway and the first DNS (leave the second blank).
    - Finally, plug in the phone line and test.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • "No Internet Access" on connected device with mobile hotspot

I've been on Verizon for 2 weeks.  Note II on a Family Share Plan with lots of data.  Using the built-in Verizon Mobile Hotspot application.  Connecting from my work laptop, which is Windows 7.
Set it up and everything worked fine for a week and a half.  I had no problems connecting or accessing the internet from my laptop.  It worked fine Monday morning.  Monday afternoon my laptop started giving me the warning message "No Internet Access" when connecting to the phone's hotspot.  I'm in a 4g area where the hotspot has worked previously.  I've tried several times in several different 4g locations as time allowed over the last 2 days, and I have not been able to get to the internet on my connected laptop again.
While connected to the mobile hotspot I ran Windows troubleshooter and it tells me that there is no DHCP server available, and that the default gateway for this network is unreachable.  My laptop has no problems reaching the internet via the wireless network at work or at home.  The laptop connects to both of those wireless networks every day (both before and since this problem appeared.)
I have rebooted both the phone and the laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I renamed the hotspot, and connected to the "new" hotspot from my laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I have tried running "ipconfig /renew" from my laptop while connected, and that is when it tells me that it cannot find a DHCP server for this network.
What broke?  How can I fix it?
I'm still in the 100% refund return period on my contract and phones (for another day or so.)  This is an absolute deal-killer.  Hotspot on my phone is the single reason why I switched networks.
    * Revised 2/28:
This morning I turned on the mobile hotspot feature on my wife's Galaxy S3 (on the same Verizon Family Share Plan.)  Then I connected to it from my laptop.  When it connected it said "limited internet access" for about 30 seconds, and then that warning went away and I had full access.  I surfed for a moment to confirm, and all was working.  I turned off the GS3 hotspot and turned on the hotspot on my Note II.  When I connected to the Note II's hotspot from my laptop I still had no internet access.  I left it for 3-4 minutes, and it never switched on.  I tried surfing and got only error messages in my browser.
All of this was while sitting at my desk.  So I believe I have ruled out the laptop as a cause for this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

After I posted the above in February I talked to Verizon support.  They could not resolve the problem.  They replaced the phone, and the new phone has worked for months.  My work schedule changed a bit, and so I started using the hotspot less often.
Last week I noticed that after I connected my laptop I had a longer delay before it would change from "No Internet Access" to giving me access.  Yesterday morning it was so slow that I got the command prompt up on my laptop and determined that from the laptop's perspective the problem was that there was no DHCP server available through the hotspot network.  That morning it did eventually find the DHCP server and issue my laptop an IP address, and let me connect.
Yesterday afternoon the DHCP server never appeared, and I was not able to connect to the internet.  Same thing this morning.  I rebooted both the phone and the laptop.  No change.  The laptop connects to other wireless networks just fine, still.  This worked for months.  Why did it slow down connecting and then stop?  I'm guessing there must be some sort of buffer that has filled up.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Does ePrint work with mobile hotspot service?

I have a relatively new HP Officejet Pro 8500a E-All-In-One printer. I use the printer with a USB connection to my laptop, but also with a WiFi connection to my tablet through the mobile hotspot service of my HTC Thunderbolt phone. Until recently, I used this service with an iPad, which worked fine using AirPrint. One thing I noticed early on was that while the printer was seen by the other devices connected to my mobile hotspot, the printer was unable to set up the ePrint service, always giving me the error that it was unable to find an internet connection. All of my other devices are connected to the internet via the hotspot with no special settings created or used. Now that I've switched to using an Android 3.0 tablet, I need to get the ePrint feature working in order to print from my tablet--but I just keep getting the same error: "The Printer was unable to connect to the server. You can connect the printer to the internet through a proxy server..." Am I doing something wrong? The printer is set up using the WiFi signal from the mobile hotspot, and other devices on the hotspot can see the printer...
    Thanks,
    Did

Hey technobabble1! I've never tried to set this up personally but I think it would work. Try viewing the ePrint troubleshooting information found here and see if it helps at all. If not, let me know what happened and I will try to find out more information for you.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • Having issues with MacBook Pro and Verizon Mobile Hotspot

    Hey everyone,
I bought a MacBook Pro with the Lion OS. I recently switched to Verizon and got an HTC Thunderbolt so I could use it as a hotspot at home and when I travel.
The problem I am having is when I turn the Mobile Hotspot on is, it will connect and stay connected for anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes and then it will work intermittently after that until I turn it off. I've talked to Verizon Tech Support probably 30 times in the last 3 months about the issue. They sent me another SIM card and a new Thunderbolt at first. The issue did not go away, so they offered me a Samsung Charge. Got it and it did the same thing. So I told them to send me back a Thunderbolt, because its a better phone and the Charge was too glitchy.
I've been to the Apple Store twice now and they dont know why its happening either. The only thing that has remained constant throughout this whole troubleshooting process has been my MacBook Pro. My questions are: Is anyone else experiencing this type of behavior? and What could possibly be causing this issue?
Im a new Mac user, so Im not sure how to troubleshoot issues like this, or if there are compatibility issues Im not aware of.
    Thanks for your help,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
Did this ever get resolved for you? I have the exact same problem except I'm running Snow Leopard on a MacBook and my phone is a Droid Incredible 2. When I use the hopstpot from a ThinkPad running Windows 7 or a System76 netbook running Linux Mint it works perfectly. But when I try to use my MacBook it connects for, like you said, anywhere between 3-10 minutes and then connection is intermittent and super slow. I haven't gone through the motions of contacting Verizon yet...
    Thanks,
    Aileen
