Mobile Infrastructure

Hi Basis Gurus,
We are planning to do a project on Mobile Infrastructure(MI) and i dont have any knowledge on Mobile Infrastructure. Please share some good documents on Mobile Infrastucture and let me know what is Mobile Infrastructure.
Our system is BW 3.5,Oracle 9i DB and Sun Solaris OS.
Regards,
Anil.

hello Anil,
The SAP Mobile Infrastructure (SAP MI) is a technology solution of SAP NetWeaver on which SAP Solutions for Mobile Business is based. With SAP MI, however, you can also make applications mobile that are not SAP-based.
SAP MI is installed locally on a mobile device and is equipped with a Web server, a database layer and its own business logic. Staff working remotely can therefore work offline and do not have to wait for a network connection to complete time-critical business applications. The SAP MI offers tools for synchronization and data replication that make the data of the mobile device consistent with that of the backend.
u must be planning to install a new MI server right?also MI is bases on ABAP+JAVA
you can find detailed info. on this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/Helpdata/EN/a8/64b54cf975904da6f0ef47298cf433/content.htm
for guides u can refer to service.sap.com
u will find a lots o guides there with respect to MI

  • 1st Mobile Infrastructure Meet-The-Experts Session on 20-Sep-06

    Hello mobile SDN community,
The NetWeaver Mobile development team is now hosting "Mobile
Infrastructure Meet-The-Experts" sessions. The first session with
the topic "MI Configuration" takes place on September 20th.
Interested? - Below you find more details about it.
      <b>What is a "Meet-The-Expert" Session?</b>
A "Meet-The-Experts" Session is the forum for MI consultants,
mobile application consultants and mobile application developers
having a technical background to ask questions directly to
colleagues from MI development. This kind of session is different
to "RKT Live Expert Sessions" where a specific topic is
presented/demo-ed and questions can be asked at the end regarding
this topic. A "Meet-The-Experts" Session focuses more on
questions than on presentation. Here speakers give a short
introduction to the topic (approx. 15 minutes) on a high level
and then discuss questions brought up by the audience. It is
highly appreciated if you contribute with a number of
      questions.
<b>When is the next one scheduled and what is the topic?</b>
The first session is dedicated to the topic "Mobile
Infrastructure - Configuration" (J2EE/ABAP configuration, CCMS,
SSO, security, compression, File/DB persistence and amount of
data, device types, etc.) The speakers are Nameeta S Kustagi,
Sivakumar V and Karthik V Setty. It takes place on September 20th
at 5:30 pm IST which is 2:00 pm CET/8:00 am EDT/5:00 am PST.
<b>How about the level of questions? Can I ask "stupid" questions?</b>
Don't be afraid - verything can be asked. However, it is recommended
that you have either participated in a MI classroom training (TMOB20/TMOB40)
or have completed the relevant RKT Learning Maps (Link: http://service.sap.com/rkt-mi)
or have extensive MI knowledge gained in a MI project. For some topics, basic
knowledge of the new new device management tools might be
required. You can learn about it in the recently held Live Expert Sessions
(Link: http://service.sap.com/rkt-mi => Live Expert Sessions).
<b>Can I send my questions beforehand so that the speakers can prepare for it?</b>
You are welcome to include your questions in this forum thread. These questions
will get priority in the session. Please post your questions in the thread until 24 hours
prior to the event. Of course, you can also ask questions during the session.
To do that, please indicate that in the conferencing tool using the "raise hand" button.
<b>How to I dial-in and what conferencing tool is used?</b>
We are using WebEx for transmission of slides, etc. Please note that a small installation
need to be performed at your PC to participate in this session. For the audio a
conference call is used. The details can be found below.
<b>I cannot participate live - will there be a recording of the sessions?</b>
Yes. The download location will be posted in this thread after the session.
      <b>Will there be future sessions?</b>
Yes, there will be an SDN blog soon regarding future sessions about Generic Sync, Smart Sync and the new
      NW Mobile Administrator.

  • Login problem with SAP Mobile Infrastructure

    Hi
          I have installed SAP WebAS 6.40 SP9 .
i could see SAP Mobile Infrastructure if i use the following URL -
    http://<localhost>:50000/me/WebConsole/login
but i am not able to login with any of the SAP WebAS logins it is giving a error.
I have also installed SAP GUI for windows to which i am able to login using DDIC login of SAP WebAS.
It will be helpfull if any one can tell me how to check if the entries in the SAP MI login page are correct like the System ,client, system number, language, user and the password.
    Thanks and Regards
    gopi

    Hi Gopi!
To install MI Client on a Desktop PC,look for the setup.exe file in MI folder in the "Netweaver Components" installation DVD,run one of these setup files based on the framework you need(MOBILEENGINE_JSP or MOBILEENGINE_AWT).
    <...\MI\MI2.5_SP09\JSP\win32\comp\setup.exe>
    <...\MI\MI2.5_SP09\AWT\win32\comp\setup.exe>
Then run MobileEngine.Exe(After installation you will have a shortcut on your desktop),Create a New User to LogOn and then "Goto>>>Settings" and set up the connection parameters to logon.
Refer to the Installation Guide using the link from Jill Elliot.
I donot understand what do you mean by "setting changes after installing the SAP WebAS 6.40 SP 09?"
    Thx

  • Configuration of SAP NW AS (Configuration of SAP Mobile Infrastructure)

    Hello everyone
'm configuring the MI and I want to clarify some key concepts.
In the configuration of SAP NetWeaver AS when it says to initiate transactions (eg PFCG) means over the SAP R3 system?
    Thanks, Gokhan

    Dear Veeraraagavan,
    Yes, SAP R/3 = backend
I think you're right, and I'm banging my head on for days ... I gave a quick glance at guides (installation, architecture, Installation Options, etc.) on the SAP Web NWAS and I think I found a bit of light!
But I need confirmation from you experts.
On the Configuration of SAP Mobile Infrastructure in Prerequisites section is written that there is need of SAP NetWeaver AS 2004 (including the SAP J2EE Engine and the ABAP stack), so if I understand correctly the installation option for SAP Web AS is Integration = SAP Web Application Server ABAP + Java System.  So what in the figure http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=vg3nzmjhiwm&thumb=6 represents only a SAP Web Application Server Java System (J2EE Engine) and non-SAP Web Application Server ABAP + Java System? Or it could be an ABAP + Java System?
I'm thinking that might be missing only the SAP GUI to access the ABAB ENGINE as shown in this photo http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/84/54953fc405330ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm .
    Thanks in advance, Gokhan

  • Help SAP Mobile Infrastructure 7.0 on NW 2004S

Hi all, I am a Newbie, and i really need some help.
    After 2 weeks i installed:
On the <b>Server:</b> side (machine 1)
    SAP NW 2004s SR1 (ABAP + JAVA + MI) / ORACLE / Windows Server 2003
after that i update the system to:
ABA Support Package 10 for 7.0
Basis Support Package 10 for 7.0
Kernel (part I and II) version: 83.
    MI Client 7.0 SP10
    MI Drivers 7.0 SP10
    MI Administration 7.0 SP10
    MI WD Laptop 7.0 SP10
On the <b>Client</b> side (Machine 2) (Windows XP)
    SAP Developer Studio 7.0.10
So the problem is that i don't know where is the SAP Mobile Infrastructure 7.0 Installer, so when a try to used the SAP Developer Studio it says me to configure:
    (Windows --> Preferences -->MI Development)
    MI Home Folder:
    MI server name:
    MI webapp root:
    MI webapp TCP port:
    (AWT runtime)
    MI Home Folder
    MI Logon Information
    MI Logon user name
    MI Logon password
I understand that i need to install the Sap Mobile Infrastructure 7.0 in the Client Development Machine, and after configure the Developer Studio, so that i can use the server to deploy my applications. This SAP Mobile Infrastructure is NO the MI Client 7.0 (NWMCLIENT10_0-20000910.SCA) Because i used it to update the server..
Please can somebody say me where i can download the Mobile Infrastructure 7.0?? I think that is the only thing that i  need to complete all the mobile development environment, or maybe i need Tomcat too in the client machine?
    Best Regards,
    Erick Ilarraza

    Hi Han,
Actually I have on my client / development  machine:
    SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.0
    SAP Mobile Infrastructure
    Server machine
    NW04s SP10 ABAP + JAVA + MI
What is the FW_INSTALL? i try to search it in the software distribution center, but i can't found it.
    I understand that for:
Windows Mobile Device --> CrEme Virtual Machine
    Laptop --> I don't know! maybe i only need to have the J2SK 1.2.4_08
In any case, i am trying to run the example code (Sap Help) 1st 2nd ... with the Mobile Infrastructure Program. But i don't have idea how to do this.
    Regards,
    Erick

  • Mobile Infrastructure 7.0 JSP on Windows Mobile installation..?

    Hi guys,
I have an urgent need for installation (.cab/.exe) for a MI 7.0 JSP SP11(or the latest SP12)
for Windows Mobile 5.0 based device.. Do you have any notion from where I can get the
installation? A look through SAP Notes did not get me to any meaningful issue .. only some patch sca's etc.
    Thanks!
    Best Regards,
    Lalo

    Hi
The DNS error that you see is when you actually open MI using the os_select.html is due to the fact the MI is not completely started when you clicked on the file. Because of the change in architecture in WM 5.0, it takes a longer time for tomcat to start up (MI relies on tomcat server). Hence one concrete solution to this problem is to wait for around 10 - 15 seconds after soft reset of the PDA and then click the os_select.html file. Else after the PDA is reset open the contents of jscpout.tx(which is present in the root dir) file and see for and entry "MOBILE INFRASTRUCTURE 7.0 SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED" or "Starting tomcat. Check logs/tomcat.log for error messages". Once you see either of the above statements, run the os_select.html file and this should open MI successfully.
You can also refer to my replies in following Re: How to install client frame work on PDA
    Hope this helps.

  • Sending CRM survey templates to Mobile handheld using Mobile infrastructure

    Hi,
I have a a requirement to send survey templates to handheld client using mobile infrastructure. Also the survey results have to be send from handheld client to CRM using the mobile infrastructure.
Has anybody send CRM objects using mobile infratructure? Usually CRM middleware is used for sending and receiving data to mobile devices.
But Mobile infrastucture is different from CRM middleware and use download modules to fill syncBO structures and then create XML files to send to handheld cleint. When it gets the XML results from client, it fills the syncBO from the xml and then call upload modules to send data to update backend (CRM or ERP ) objects.
Please let me know if you have done similar development and if you faced any complexities to send CRM data using mobile infratructure.
    thanks
    Jay

    Hi
I´m not technical consultant but I need to know whether is possible to sync data between CRM and  Symbol devices just using CRM Middleware or whether is necesary pass on MI platform to achieve that?
it is a little confusing for me to understand if CRM middleware/CDB is also needed for a Mobile scenario where I have MI also,  or both are required.
Could you clarify that for me, please?
    Thanks  for your help

  • (Mobile Infrastructur)Failed to get hierarchy group elements fromMiddleware

When iam configuring the Mobile Infrastructure and clicked on Hierarchy Grouping i got the following error.
Error:Failed to get hierarchy group elements from middleware. Reason: Could not connect to middleware
Could anyone tell meaning the above statement and why it is occuring.
Secondly when iam trying to start the MI Webconsole from the below URL, I was getting Page Cannot be Displayed Error.
https://server:50300/me/WebConsole/login. Can anyone tell why this error is coming.

    Dear Sankar,
SAP wants you to use the NWA Mobile Administrator and not the old WebConsole. As for the error, I think it should be solved by now, considering you solved other NWA issues by either using solutions of redeploying sapjra, re-running of NWA templates under Deploy and Change or by returning back to your original NWA connected ABAP client (as is evident from your other thread).

  • Mobile infrastructure Installation with SAP Netweaver Developer Studio

    Hello,
I am new to MI field.
I have installed SAP Netweaver Developer Studio 2.04 and assumed, that the MI Client & Server Components are installed with Netweaver too.
    Is that correct?
The fact is, that the ports 3601 and 4444 are not accessabled as described in the documentation, and that it is not possible to create a project for mobiles in Netweaver Studio.
I tryed to download MDK 2.5 and install mobile infrastructure manually, but after extraction of MDk 2.5-files there is no setup-program or so.
Any hints and tips are very welcome.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Rainhard

    Rainhard,
Where did you get the MI client and Server components?
Are they from the NetWeaver04 installation CD? or do u
just download from the trial version of J2EE Engine 6.40 from SDN?
MDK 2.5 is just a set of documentation of guiding developers how to write mobile apps with MI. The SAP
Netweaver Developer Studio already has the MDK Plug-in
    comes with it.
If you need to create project for mobile app, you can
do the following in the NW Dev. Studio:
    1. Go to File > New > Project...
    2. Select "Mobile Development Kit" on the left pane and then select which types of project you want.
    3. Then, click "Next" to follow the instructions.

    Hi,
We have this answer in many other threads..
Mobile infrastructure (MI 2.5 / MI 7.0) is the older release of mobile. The latest version of mobile is NW Mobile 7.1 which comes with a total architectural change, provides better scalability and has advantages in many other areas like better modeling, monitoring options , faster device synchronization time etc.
Netweaver mobile constitutes of server (DOE) and a default client framework (Netweaver mobile client) .
Mobile application could be created using NetweaverDeveloper Studio(NWDS) that will present the data required by the mobile device user.
This mobile application once deployed on a device will work on the local persistency and during synchronization with DOE sends the modified/new data to Backend via DOE.
Customers can also develop a custom client framework and application that still talks to DOE (and inturn to backend)
NW mobile 7.1 could be used to build mobile applications suiting offline and onlines scenarios.
In few words to mobilize enterprise solutions
SAP R/3 will act as backend
---talks to DOE through remote enabled BAPI Wrappers ---
NW mobile will be middleware that does the data orchestration
Upon Synchronization of mobile device with DOE using a messaging protocol over http(s)
Receivers could be devices with client application installed / another server.

  • Any MI (Mobile Infrastructure) certified guys

    Hi all,
Can I know any one certified in SAP NETWEAVER MI (Mobile Infrastructure).
Want few informations regarding teh same.
    Cheers,
    Karthick

    hello Anil,
The SAP Mobile Infrastructure (SAP MI) is a technology solution of SAP NetWeaver on which SAP Solutions for Mobile Business is based.

  • Run Mobile Infrastructure application(7.0) PDA

    Hi
I have developed mobile infrastructure application. Now i want to run that application on PDA.
Please also tell me steps for running application on PDA.
Also give me some link for downloading

    Hi,
so you are developing for MI7.1?In that case you have emulator available. Download the SAP Dev Studio first, then add the mobile addOns. The process is described here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmobile71/helpdata/en/dd/9427535e5040faa26aa0afd6f0bf87/frameset.htm
and after that, you need to follow the guide here as well:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmobile71/helpdata/en/45/c9daf9f55c5590e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
It is a little bit of a handy process, but once you have done it, the emulator is available under settings -> Mobile -> PDA runtime and you can start it there.
Ths guide shows you as well how to develop apps for mobile.
    Hope that helps.
If you deal with MI7.0 - unfortunately there is no emulator and you need to follow pretty much the steps mentioned above.

    Oliver

  • NW Mobile Infrastructure vs SAPConsole

Is NetWeaver Mobile Infrastructure meant to replace SAPConsole for RFID interaction? Or are they complimentary? Asked another way, will SAPConsole continue to be supported throughout the life of MySAP ERP 2005?
    Thanks much in advance,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas
I am not sure what are the complete functionalities of the SAPConsole. But i am pretty sure that SAP NetWeaver Mobile Infrastructure is never meant to replace SAPConsole.  MI serves as a platform for running business applications in an offline mode i.e without any online connectivity. Both SAPConsole and MI are different products altogether and may be few or some functionalities are similar(you can definitely use RFID interaction with MI), but none will replace the other.  To know if SAPConsole will be supported throught MySAP ERP 2005, request you to refer to the Product Availablity Matrix available www.service.sap.com/pam for details.
Though my reply may not be complete, hope it is atleast a bit informative.
