Mobile Leave solution- EHP6/HR Renewal?

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement from the client on which I need to get the clarity. The background is that we have a ECC6 system with EHP6 implemented and a Enterprise Portal version 7.1 where the client is using its ESS/MSS services based on WDJAVA applications and on Home Page Framework. Please note that HR Renewal is not yet implemented but it is currently under considerations.
Now the requirement is that client want to have Mobile Leave solution for Leave Request & Approval functionality. We already have got some idea on Fiori but we want to understand if there is any other functionality available apart from Fiori in HR Renewal- EHP6 which we can leverage from SAP for our client to fulfill the demand for Mobile Leave solution?
Awaiting your response.
Many Thanks!
Regards

Hi Sahil,
Technically, any SAPUI5 application should work in any platform. That mean, the applications will work on mobile browsers.
As far as i know, UI5 applications in HR renewal have surely been built with a some consideration of mobile devices. However, i would not jump the gun and tell you that it will work seamlessly on all mobile devices. On large screen devices like ipad->OK. But on small screen devices like iphone->not OK, it will be like viewing a website in desktop mode in the tiny mobile browser. The app would not automatically re-arrange itself to suit the small screen of an iphone. However, fiori apps are different. The sap.m UI library helps fiori apps to resize the UI and re-arrange the layout based upon the screen size. Also the fiori apps are optimized for touchscreen devices, which i do not think would be the case with the UI5 applications in HR Renewal.
Fiori definitely scores higher if your requirement is to ensure the leave request and approvals work seamlessly on all platforms especially mobile. Saying that you should decide not only based on the platform you need but also on the functionality you plan to have in the apps. Since you say that your client is running on WD java of leave request, it might be necessary to gauge the change in the functionality between WD Java and HR renewal UI5 or Fiori. For example, 'My Leave Request' fiori app does not show the team calendar when you create a new leave request. Similarly you might need to check the functionality available in both new apps before deciding.
Hope this info helps.
Best Regards,
Varun

  • What Mobile Sales solution for ERP 6.0 ?

    Hi colleagues,
I have serious difficulty to understand what is the SAP offering for Mobile Sales solutions for SPA ERP 6.0. SAP is vague and just say there IS solution for R/3 (?).
My questions are in two directions:
    1. About the "preconfigured" Mobile Sales offerings or xApps or whatever it is:
        - can we use SAP MSR 2.0 with ERP 6? If yes- are still the limitations described in Note OSS 735727 valid (use only with Microsoft PocketPC2003, PocketPC2003 SE and Win32 )
        - can we use  xMSA HH with ERP? If not - what this document refers for? : ( https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f635d890-0201-0010-d8b2-8380c23456ed )
    2. About the "Online" solutions
       -  Could the ERP Internet Sales be used with Handheld?
       - and if yes what are the pros and cons against using custom WebDynpro or ITS?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Jordan

    Dear Jordan,
If I am not wrong you are talking about internet sales for R/3 when you say ERP internet sales, which is probably outdated by now. Nowadays SAP distributes something called as mySAP Business Suite which in brief is as follows:
    mySAP Business Suite :
    CRM - Customer Relationship Management
    ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning
    SCM - Supply Chain Management
    SRM - Supplier Relationship Management
    PLM - Product Lifecycle Management
    SAP Netweaver
    Solution Manager
The current Mobile Sales solutions need mySAP CRM. Some of your questions about the xApp Mobile Sales for Hand Held are already answered in this wiki:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/home/xmsaHandheldClient
Also you can get the installation guide, release notes from here in SMP:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000668453&
About MSA HH 5.0  Device requirement- Yes you need to use Windows Mobile PDAs with Pocket PC 2003/ Windows Mobile5.0, Windows Mobile 6.0 OS.
There is another application, Mobile Sales Online, which can work with Blackberry Devices, technical information regarding which can be got from SMP here:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000614083&
The info is a bit vague but once you are through with them, you will have the clarity you need. Please mark this thread as answered and my post as solved if my post answers your queries.
    Regards,
    Veera
Edit: You may also get in touch with your local SAP contact to get the contact info of the product team/manager of both the products above for the best clarity possible.

  • Mobile printing solutions for iPad

Hello I would like to see if anyone can help with this...We are trying to equip our service employees with printing capabilities while they are out in the field.  I know that it seems that the best way to go is with utilizing the air print feature of the iPad, however looking at the supported printers (found on the apple website) i dont see any that seem all that "portable" in regards to size and weight.  How are others handling their printing needs on the go?
    Thank you very much!!

looking to do the same thing.
Thanks to all who contributed to this thread/
HP offers something called mobile printing solutions.
apparently at Kinkos and other selected locations, a person can send thier docs to be printed rom thie i pad.
i downloaded the HP mobile printing app, but the local Kinkos is some distance away, so i have not yet tried it.
Bersides, there would be a cost per page.  for printing.
sending e mail attachments to companies with printing capabilities i have tried.
Staples offers this serivce, but I sent some docs and they had to be adjusted and modified by the Staples printing department to enable correct printing on a page, so that particular abenue may be out.
( i made the document using Noteworthy app and sent it to Dropbox and sent the resulting PDF from dropbox to Staples, who printed the test, but told me it requireed page modification..
I have no idea why as the page i had worked up into a PDF had a standard word processing format.
Thanks for all who contribute their time and experience in these forums

  • ICal / MobileMe To Dos & iPhone syncing over mobile networks: Solution!!!

I have been after a solution to use the to do list in iCal on my Mac @ home and the MobileMe Calendar web page while at work & away from home AND have it sync OTA with my iPhone. There hasn't been a solution that I have found for this until now! I have tried Things and OmniFocus, but in my opionion they are both too bloated for my needs. I want a simple todo list with due dates, notes, priorities and URLs, that I can use on desktops as well as mobile. The iCal / MobileMe to do list is perfect for this, but until now there hasn't been a way to keep the same todo list on my iPhone and keep it in sync everywhere.
I now have a solution. Appigo recently launched a beta of their iCal Sync app for OSX. I downloaded & installed this to my Mac at home, and downloaded their iPhone Todo app. Great syncing between iCal and iPhone over my home Wifi network. Then, I thought, what is to stop me using this over the internet when I'm not at home? So I setup a domain with no-ip.org, which allows you to point a domain name at your home DSL router IP address and have it forward traffic to your home computer. Using a DNS solution in this way means you can dynamically update the domain name to change when your router public IP address changes (unless you have a static IP assigned with your ISP). So, anyway, I set this up to point at my router's public IP address, then configured my home router to forward a specific TCP port to my Mac. So when traffic arrives at the router from the internet destined for this specific port, the router forwards it to the Mac. I configured the Appigo iCal sync app to listen on a static port (the same one I configured on the router) and ensured both my Mac and router firewalls were set to permit this traffic.
So now, with MobileMe set to sync automatically, I can add/edit/delete a todo on my iPhone when I'm away from my home wifi network and it instantly syncs with iCal on my Mac at home, then that gets propogated almost instantly to MobileMe. Also it means a change to the todo list on my Mac or on the MobileMe Calendar web page will also almost instantly get propgated to my iPhone (next timne the Todo app syncs).
Brilliant! The perfect solution for me, and only costing the price of the Appigo todo iPhone app!
If anyone would like more detail on how this was all done, let me know and I can go into more detail.
Just need to find something similar for note syncing now, and I'll be sorted.

Thanks for the excellent information on Appigo ToDo and Sync. This is great way to fulfill the unexplainable absence of this feature from Apple's own application suite (MobileMe, iCal, To Do items).
I downloaded Sync and the iPhone app. Configuration was a snap. I'm still working from a trial membership of MobileMe...with this feature working I'm just about ready to pony up and get a full membership.

  • SAP AutoID Infrastructure vs Sybase SUP Mobile based solutions for RFID???

    Hello All,
I'm trying to come up to speed on the basics as we have projects going that have RFID, Barcode and mobile design implications. As mobile has evolved we're looking at some opportunities give the number of consumer level devices available. We know we won't be able to simply replace all existing (ruggedized, etc) devices but the oppertunity is there to do some new things, or old things with new devices. At the same time we have our existing RFID infrastructure (Not SAP AII). My question is... is there any overlap between an SAP AII infrastructure and Mobile Infrastructure? For example from what I gather an AII infrastructure typically has an RFID middleware for data management device monitoring, etc that is integrated with SAP AII. Sounds very similar to mobile architecture with a middleware piece taking care of decide management data integration & management etc. Kind of troubling to me that 2 pieces of heavy infrastructure are needed for these two scenarios. Oh and lets talk XMII also which we also have installed.
So just comming up the curve on all this. Is there any overlap here where RFID architecture could be handled by a good mobile design? I suspect any overlap is conceptual and the rub will be the device support.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi
I have been following SAP Mobility as well. These are my gathering.
SAP Sybase SUP - This is being recommended for heavy weight applications. There are additional components on the SUP layer as, Sybase Control Center and Afaria for monitoring and device management.
Project Gateway -  This is being recommended for light weight application. It does not require any additional infrastructure, only software components to be added. I have not heard of any release date for this product. Conceptually it seems very good and based on the demo that was presented in Tech Ed 2011, the development was very simple as well.
ITS Mobile - This is integrated ITS in ECC. SAP console has been replaced with product. This is used mainly for the RF transactions in Warehouse Mgt. No additional infrastructure, some minimum configuration and ABAP development.
BI Mobile - This requires an additional infrastructure and software components to be added where by BI can interface with the mobile devices.
SAP Sybase have also built solutions for Workflow using the SUP platform.

  • Mobile Management Solutions

I’m researching mobile device management solutions for my company. Out of the dozen or so I have looked at Zenprise and Air Watch are my favorite at this point. We are a small business and both of these companies offer a cloud based solution that should work for us. Does anyone have any experience with either of these companies? If you’re using their cloud solution I would like to know your thoughts.

We are really seriously looking at Airwatch.  We don't have formal experience yet, but in our conversations with lots of people, all of them speak very highly of them.  We've found they also do a good job of integrating with the VPP,  seperating user and enterprise data and don't require an exchange mailbox for maintenance.

Basically the Toshiba Bluetooth stack is **bleep**ola! You need to uninstall it and get the Microsoft Bluetooth stack up and running. Following pvenalai's solution in the above link works.
Go to http://www.vinsvision.com/Articles/tabid/66/EntryID/13/Default.aspx to read up on what to do. If you are just a single home user all you need to do (after uninstalling the Toshiba Bluetooth stack from Add/Remove Programs) is to download and run Vincent's MSI file from his downloads page (http://www.vinsvision.com/Downloads/tabid/57/Default.aspx)

  • HR Renewal Functionality

    Hi Experts,
Our client just upgraded from EHP4 TO 6 with HR Renewal Pack. Now the client want to use the new SAP forms functionality provided by EHP6/HR Renewal and want a new application to be built on this. Client is still using Home Page Framework(HPF) for its ESS solution. Now the question is will the new SAP forms functionality work with HPF? Also the Portal version is 7.01. Kindly Suggest whether this is feasible or not seeing the client is neither using portal vers 7.3 nor Launchpad Framework?
    Thanks & Regards
    Sahil Kohli

As far as I understand the new WDA start application i.e. ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE_OVP - which is capable of launching both Adobe and FPM based form ; works based on launchpad configurations.
Some one from SAP - could comment on this?
However it should sill be possible to tweak it to work.
For details of the application refer here:

  • Creating Custom Mobile Application with CRM

    Hi ,
After reading some staff about the CRM Mobile client solutions , I have not figure it out weather I can create my own mobile applications  using the CRM Mobile Technology .
I know that the mobile clients need CRM Middleware server for synchonization and for access to backend systems, but can I call any rfc on any backend system (for example R3)
for synchronization meaning that my CRM server will be used only as middleware server to access non crm functionality on other backend systems
    Thnaks,
    Oren

What you can do is the following:
data-save on MSA triggers an outbound sbdoc (containing the update objects)
-->this one is sent to CRM by the conntrans
--> the sbdoc is created from the data, stored in the inbound queue, and processed through it's CRM flow (meaning mapping to mbdoc, processing of inbound mbdoc, creation of outbound mbdoc and mapping to outbound sbdoc).
What you can do is use or exit the bdoc flow to trigger whatever other process you want.
    What exactly is the requirement?
    Michael.
