Mobile me album file names lost

I have used iPhoto to add two albums to my mobile me gallery and in the process have lost a lot of the file names. I am displaying the photos online so people can choose which ones they would like to order so really need the names/numbers. Is there a way of getting this information back without re-uploading them?

Thanks in advance

If you used the PSE Organizer and want to restore your albums, version sets, tags, captions, etc. you'll need to restore the catalog folder as well as all your photos.  See the section "Manage Catalog Files" in this tech note for common locations of the catalog folder:

  • IPhone photo album file name sort order

    I have a folder with photos in it on my Mac.  When I sync the folder to my iPhone and view the photos on the phone, the photos are not displaying in file name sort order.  The file names of the photos are numbers (001, 002, 003 etc.).  It seems the photos are being displayed in date created order and not in the file name order.  The album with photos on my Mac is arranged / sorted by the name when syncing.
    Is there a way to have the photos in the iPhone album displayed in file name sort order?
    Thanks,
    David

    Focus Point (not free, no ads) will allow you to rename the files, add descriptions, and sort in a variety of ways. But it won't let you do anything in the main screen except browse your photo albums or camera roll, select one, and then you can do a search within that album or camera roll--and then if and only if the photo has a filename or description can you search for it. Bottom line: be sure to give your photos a proper file name and add a description.

  • How do I find Album file names so I can restore?

    I run Vista 64 Home Premium and back up  using Microsoft's standard backup software to an external 400 gig drive. My HP hard drive failed. I sent the laptop to HP and they replaced the hard drive. I had to re-install all my programs, update patches from December 2008, etc. Then bring in user files from the Toshiba external drive. What I have difficulty locating are some album files from Photoshop Elements 7 that I spent hours creating. IF someone can tell me how to locate the files including where they are likely located that would be wonderful. Would they be in the same folders as my edited pictures? And how do I locate the file names by extension? Thank you for whatever assistance you can provide.

  • Aperture file name and mobile.me

    Hello,
    I am in the process of figuring out if there is a way to publish an album to mobile me and have the version name become the file name. In this particular case the file names are all generated by the camera and I give them custom version names. The titles of art work. The point of the gallery is for the art galleries that i work with to have access to large jpgs for their promotional use.
    The problem I hope to solve is that the displayed version name is not the file name so the downloaded files are not easily identifiable.
    I suppose I could export and re import but i was hoping that there was a better way.
    Thanks for any suggestions

    The URL - http://www.marysmith.com/ - is working for me. Empty your browser cache and try again.

  • Captions using file names? (Photoshop Album Starter Edition)

    In Photoshop Album Starter Edition, is it possible to create a slideshow and use the file name (i.e. "Red Sails in the Sunset.jpg")as a caption that is viewed within the slide show segments? If not, is there another Adobe product, possibly Elements, that can do this? Thanks, Van.

    Somewhat related:
    I have used tags to organize my photos, but it seems this will be lost if I ever move to another program (e.g. Picaca - though Adobe was able to import one Picasa tag). My questions:
    1. How can I permanently associate tag-type info with my photos?
    2. Can I use a simple or batch method to use my filenames (which have a lot of info) as captions?

  • How can I see the file name of photographs in Lightroom mobile?

    I have photographs of product wich have there reference number as the file name. When synchronizing to my iphone/ipad I don't see the file name of the photographs any more. Is there a way to show them on my mobile devices?

    Two fingers cycles through the histogram + exif info views. One finger toggles between filling the screen or revealing the filename and adjustment controls.

  • How to Get Albums in File-Name-Order Photo

    When I updated my iPod Touch to V4.0 and iTunes (V9 on Windows XP) re-synced it, I found that my photo albums were now in Picture Date order rather than PC file name order. I tried several things that didn't work.
    What worked was using the Photoshop Essentials Organizer to change the picture date on all the photos in an album to the same date and time (this can be done to all selected photos in one operation).
    I did the sync in two steps. First I moved the album out of the iTunes photos directory and then synced my iPod which deleted the album. Then I moved it back and re-synced.
    Does anyone know of an easier trick? I’ve already submitted a feedback item to Apple that they should make file-name-order an option in iTunes
    Andy…

    The trick that I used is to append the URL with the name of the file. So if your url is "http://domain.com/attach", use "http://domain.com/attach/filename.doc". IE and Netscape parse the URL to determine what the filename is, so by placing this text at the end, you essentially let the browsers know what the filename is. :)
    I have design a program to get the attach file from an
    attachment. But when I click the link to save the
    file, the default name of the file is 'attach'
    whenever I get different files. Who know what is the
    problem, please tell me the truth.
    Here are some codes of the program.<< snip >>

    how to hide the file name (the bizarre number assigned by the camera) when exporting an image version in aperture from an album. Pl understand I want to keep the file name in the project library version.

    Within Aperture you have Images, which are constructed on-the-fly from two files (the Master and the Version).  You get an image-format file _only_ when you export an Image.  You select the file name (usually a scheme) when you create an image-format file (that is, when you export).  Look under "Aperture→Presets→File Naming" for built-in Presets.  You can, of course, create your own or customize any provided.
    The Preset is applied to only the file newly created by your "export" command.  It is not applied to the Image in Aperture (unless you rename your Versions or your Masters).

  • Writing file content on to mobile phone (need to specify the file name req)

    Hi,
    I have a jsp page which i am trying to execute on a mobile phone. In this page i am trying to open a ServletOutputStream and using this i am trying to write some content on to the phone. But by default the file name is beeing given as the name of the jsp page, so is there any that we can we specify the name of the file explicitly using the program itself (i mean other than the jsp file name). Can some one give me an idea to implement this.
    Here is the code snippet used......
    ServletOutputStream outstr = response.getOutputStream();
    String itemPath = "http://172.10.100.25/file_dwn/funny_pic.gif";
    java.net.URL url = new java.net.URL(itemPath);
    javax.activation.URLDataSource source = new javax.activation.URLDataSource(url);
    javax.activation.DataHandler dataHand = new javax.activation.DataHandler(source);
    String file = itemPath.substring(itemPath.lastIndexOf("/")+1);
    response.setHeader("Content-Type","application/vnd.oma.drm.message;boundary=foo");
    outstr.println();
    outstr.println("--foo");
    outstr.println("Content-Type: " + dataHand.getContentType()+";Name=\""+file+"\"");
    outstr.println("");
    dataHand.writeTo(outstr);
    outstr.println();
    outstr.println("--foo--");
    outstr.println();
    outstr.flush();
    outstr.close();

    Hi,
    You can Include a Knowledge Management Folder as a Web Folder, this way you can copy and paste files from KM to  file system very easily.

  • 2 Questions: Changing the file name /title, View albums in Outlook

    Hi,
    I'm considering upgrading to iLife06 but before I do I want to know if it resolved my 2 biggest problems with iPhoto.
    1) Can you finally change the tite/file name of a picture in iPhoto and actually find that picture with the "new/changed" title using Finder or Outlook Express. Its really frustrating to only be able to see the descriptive title in iPhoto. It makes it unreasonably difficult to attach a picture to an email. You have to do it from iPhoto which means I have to switch out of Outlook and then to iPhoto.
    2) After you create all these albums in iPhoto can you see the albums in either Finder or Outlook Express. Once again attaching pics to an email is a pain if I have to remember that the exact date the picture was taken.
    Please let me know if these issues are resolved or if there is an easy work around.
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    1) No
    2) No
    The easiest way to do it is open iPhoto and File>export the photos you want to use.

  • Changing file name in a smart album?

    I have created several smart albums in iphoto 6, i am also in the process if updating my photos in iphoto by renaming them. My smart albums use the file name for their search criteria. But i have noticed several of my photos would be better in a different smart album i created, so i change their file names to something more relevent, but they stay in this original smart album, i would have thought they would automatically be romoved from this smart album???

    bege:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you change a photos title in a smart album or anywhere else its name should change in every instance it is in the library. Users have reported smart albums not updating unless the quit and relaunch iPhoto. Give that a try and see if the name is the same everywhere. It should. I don't remember what the fix was for that situation but you might do some searching for "smart album not updating" or something like that to see what you find.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Export the file names of an iPhoto Album

    Hi,
        I have gone through some of the communities but did not find the answer and posting here. I want to export only the file names of photos of an iPhoto Album.  (Please post if I can get them through Terminal)
    Thanks
    Raj.

    That is not a feature of iPhoto
    And there is no work around. IPhoto is all about photos. Not at sell about files

  • When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the original file name being replaced during the downloading process?

    When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the file name being changed during this downloading process?

    Hi Glenyse,
    Here are my steps.
    1.  I upload multiple image (jpg) files onto my photo album.
    2.  I select the "sharing" by email option for this album.
    3.  I enter the recipient's email address.
    4.  The recipient receives my message and clicks on the link.
    5.  The recipient accesses my photo album and clicks on one of the images.
    6.  The image opens up to its own screen.
    7.  The recipient selects the "download" and then save file option.
    Here is the part I do not understand.  For some reason, during this "download" process, the original name which I have given to the file is replaced by different name.  So I was hoping that someone knows how to prevent the file name from being changed during the "download and save" process.
    Much appreciated if you can help me find a solution to this problem.

  • If I have a pic in more than one album, does iPhoto make more than one copy of that pic?  When I search the file name on finder, it seems to be showing one copy of that file for every album it's in.

    No it doesn't. Albums simply reference the photos in the Library. A single shot can be in 100 albus and use no extra disk space at all.
    If you have the same shot in two Events then yes, the file is duplicated.
    When I search the file name on finder, it seems to be showing one copy of that file for every album it's in.
    The Finder doesn't really understand the iPhoto Library. It's quite possible for the iPhoto Library to contain many files with the same name. The Library also contains different versions of the same shot - thumbnail, originals and edited version. This is normal.
