I have the same problem as you described it. But I do not see that this question is already answered.
Anyways, I use a workaround to this by simply creating one 'pure IMAP' (no push only fetch) account with the details of my MobileMe account and one automatically generated 'MobileMe IMAP' account.
For the ease of editing I chose to create the two accounts on my Mac and transfered the settings via sync to my iPhone.
When you create the pure IMAP account make sure you deselect 'Automatically set up account ' - it appears right after you added your AppleID to the address field - because then you may edit your alias to a different name than your AppleID AND be able to use it on your iPhone. Note: Apples Mail client does not need this workaround it easily deals with aliases but your iPhone seemingly does not, as of yet.
After a sync of your Mac with your iPhone you configure the two Mail accounts on your iPhone such that you only activate all push functions (calendar, contacts, etc.) that come with your MobileMe IMAP account but deactivate mail.
The pure IMAP account only supports mail. Note: In the account info on your iPhone you find separate fields for address (which you make your alias) and user name (your AppleID). Use this mailbox as your default mailbox for sending and receiving mail on your iPhone.
Also, only the pure IMAP mailbox of the two created mailboxes on your iPhone mail client will be shown because you deactivated the other. Of course you may deactivate the pure IMAP mailbox on your mac as well but you keep it in your list of mailboxes for later syncing.

    On my home computer (Dell with xp), I have mobile me mail preferences set to use an alias account as default when sending email from mobile me. This works well on the computer but the preference is not followed on the phone.
    This is in addition to not being able to enter the alias email as an account on the phone itself.

    Here is a thread regarding the same question discussed in June of this year. To my knowledge the problem hasn't been solved yet, however there are some options to get you half-way there.

    I'll admit I haven't looked into this since June, so there may have been updates since then. But as I recall the options are as follows:
    1) Enable only your default mobileme (mm) address and you'll only be allowed to send from that account.
    2) Enable both your default mm address and an alias, you will be able to send from either address, but every email you receive to either account will show up twice (once under each account).
    3) Enable only the alias. If you do this, your iphone will no longer will receive push notification of incoming emails, it seems to require the default address for this functionality.
    Hopefully all this information is correct, this was my understanding at the time I got too frustrated with it to look into it any further.

    What do you mean by "documents"?  Word or Pages files, spreadsheet files?
    Also, on your device, in Settings>iCloud, you have to have an on/off setting for Docments&Data.  If not what kinds of entries do you have on that screen?

    Do you happen to have the usable specs. for these devices? I would assume that the manual, or maybe a product Web site would have such. That will help us determine the best settings to use.

    you can't bypass activation.  Your phone needs to be activated for any of the functions to work.
    This problem happens often to phones previously jailbroken.  Is this the case?

    I have discovered the difference in the two Mail account setups. On the Laptop, my account is set up as an IMAP account. With this setup, I can establish alias addresses.
    On the desktop Mac, Mail is set up as a ".MAC" account, which apparently does not facilitate the use of alias addresses. After establishing an IMAP account on the desktop Mac, I am able to use alias addresses

    It does not cost anything.  Good to know if anyone is going overseas.  Just remember it takes 5-7 days for the iphone to get unlock so allow enough time to plan.  Thank you apple club support.

    I don't mean the factory unlocked a1428 version that'll be sold by apple at retail price. I mean the t-mobile version that'll be locked to t-mobile only as an you'll put down the $99 and pay the $20 EIP. Will apple sell the tmo iPhone 5 just like they do for Verizon AT&T and Sprint? The reason I ask is because it would be much more convenient for me to pick it up from Apple than to sign up with t-mobile and wait for it to arrive in the mail for god knows how long.

    I forgot to mention that I want the 64GB version which T-Mobile wont carry in its retail stores initially. So my only choice to get it fast and in person would be to get it from an Aple store. I know the A1428 model is being phased out for the newer model with AWS Bands but that doesn't concern me since I'm not looking to buy it unlocked. I want to order it at apple.com pay the $299 down payment and pick it up from my local apple retail store. Can I do that? I'm being very skeptical about this because it is T-Mobile and the iPhone after all, it's still hard to believe that T-Mobile actually got the iPhone.

    I have had my phone looked at in a Vodafone store and they indicate that there doesn't appear to be any untoward apps on my phone.
    I suspected the culprit to be the "Songpop" app and posted a message on their forum.
    "Songpop" said this was a problem with my ISP but this has been ruled out as there aren't any drops in internet connection from by my ISP (they have looked at connection logs).

    Without looking at specific parts of your issue, here's how to turn cellular access off completely but keep your WiFi active:
    Go to Settings > Airplane Mode and turn it on.
    After doing that, go to Settings > WiFi and turn that on.
    Then you will have WiFi and no cellular access.

    Power off the phone. Use a paper clip to pop out the Sim Tray. Insert a Micro-SIM from T-Mobile or a regular SIM cut down to size. Re-insert the SIM tray. Turn the phone back on.
    Keep in mind that 3G data, Visual Voice Mail, MMS messaging, and FaceTime will NOT function correctly on T-Mobile in the US. Some people report getting MMS to work, but you'll need to contact T-Mobile for assistance. T-Mobile in the US is NOT a supported carrier. Their network is not fully compatible with the iPhone.

    Today I purchased a fair amount of media on almost every Apple device I own! Some songs on my iPhone, a few TV shows on my iPad and AppleTV as well as some movies and complete albums on my Mac Pro.
    All the purchases from my Mac Pro show in my PING feed, but none of the others do. I thought this might be a sync issue, but even after coming home and synching - the only purchases that are "fed" to my "feed" are those from the Mac Pro (main library).
    Obviously, they are all using the same account and such. The only "odd" thing that happened was that when I went to rent a movie on my AppleTV, it failed and said it had a problem connecting to the iTunes Store - even though I was able to watch previews. A quick sign-out/sign-in solved this and I was able to rent (but it still didn't show in PING).
    Anyone else getting the lack of feed from mobile purchases?

    I purchased an album yesterday on my iPad before I even looked at ping and it showed up on my ping feed. I still can not see ping on my iPad. Has anyone else been able to do so?
