Mobile Me and iWeb

I don't think that anyone can help (I just spent some time online chatting with someone who couldn't) but I thought I'd give it a try since I'm desperate.
My family Mobile Me subscription under my husband's name is about to expire, and since I'm the only one who uses it, I decided to let that lapse and start a new trial subscription under my name. I experimented making the system preferences switch on my iMac first so that I'd be certain not to lose the iWeb site that I had created. No problem. Then I decided to make the switch on my MacBook Pro and that's when I discovered that I'd lost my iWeb site. The difference was that I had opened up iWeb on my iMac before switching (I guess?) and I hadn't done that on my MacBook.
In any case, I immediately tried to switch back to the family subscription, hoping that I'd still be able to access the iWeb site, but no luck. Every time I click on Domain, it acts like I've never had a website at all and asks me to start a new one.
When I go to iDisk, it retrieves a version of my iWeb site from July, but if I have to recreate everything that I've done since then, I think I will cry. It's better than having to start from scratch, I supposed, but UGH!!!!!!
If any of you have any words of advice or wisdom, I would appreciate it. The 2 websites that I had created (one on each machine) are completely different. The one that has been saved is my family website (would have been much easier to recreate). The one that has been lost is my work website and I will be sunk without it. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear of your trouble. The thing to find is the domain file - this is where iweb stores the data. It should be in the user library/application support/iweb folder. Click on the domain file to open it and hopefully your website will be there - it should open in iweb. It is always a good idea to create copies of the domain file before moving anything.
In the worst case scenario e.g you can't find the doamin file then all you can do is copy and paste from the old site if you still have that. Good luck.

Your web pages on MobileMe have been deleted. If you were using iWeb you wouldn't have been able to open them anyway.
As long as you have the iWeb 'Domain' file in your user Library, or whatever the program you are using stores the information in, on your Mac you can publish to another hosting service - there are plenty to choose from. More information here:

  • How to create a mobile version of iWeb

I need to convert my iWeb website to a mobile version, what is the easiest way to do this? What software or program should I use? I was told that creating a Wordpress Page is the simplest way

Thanks for your patience and assistance.
I have been putting crusadeforjustice.com and my iPod touch and my friend's iPhone 4 and other friends' blackberry's all say that the site doesn't exist.  My friend downloaded iCab for his iPhone 4 and he was able to get it to work.  iCab allows you to change the browser ID to whatever you want, such as Safari for Mac (mobile version and non mobile version), Firefox, IE, etc...  He changed it to Safari Mac and the site displays just as your picture illustrates.  Then he changed it back to Safari Mobile and that's when the error message appears.  But it seems you cannot change the browser id on the default Safari Mobile app, which is what most people use.  So I gather Safari Mobile will attempt to load a mobile version of any given site?  It's odd...  Will recreating the site usiing Flux help solve this problem?
    Any other ideas or thoughts?
    Many thanks...

  • Mobile me to iweb import problems.

A year ago I created a family history album on iweb and published it. Now I cannot edit it or see the pages in iweb. They are only viewable in mobile me. How can I import the pages to iweb so I can edit them. The site contains a lot of family images which are obviously very important for me to keep.
If I go to the site via firefox the I am asked for a username and password.
I can view all ok in mobile me.

Welcome to the discussions. Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
By the way, for searching purposes it may be useful to know that an iWeb '06 Domain file is called "Domain.sites" and iWeb '08 & '09 Domain files are called "Domain.sites2" — although the “.sites” extension is usually invisible.
If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • What has happened to my website I published in Mobile Me with IWeb?

I set up a website in mobile me using Iweb when I first got my computer.  I can still get to the actual website to view it like anyone else can but I can't get back to the place through IWeb where I can updload more picturues, videos, blogs, etc.  It keeps sending me to a new set up page like mine no longer exists.  I can't find any online help for it.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm thinking this has something to do with the Cloud?

Make sure you download any folders and files you need from MobileMe before the end of the month. You can get there from the Finder Go menu and follow the path iDisk/My iDisk. Just drag stuff onto your desktop.

Wordpress is a nasty and confusing way to run a blog - never mind a website -  so you might want to take a look a Google's Blogger which is now mobile compatible. There is a new import/export function but I haven't tried it. Perhaps one of the forums blog experts might like to?

  • Why did Steve decide to eliminate superior products like MobileMe and iWeb and not just raise the price?

I've been looking into moving 3 web sites that I easily created using iWeb and Mobile me and it is unbarably difficult to use what non Apple users have to put up with.   I was so happy that I could throw a site together for someone and it would just work.   Now I'm looking at 5 times the cost and 1/5th the quality.    Why didn't Apple just raise the price if it was unprofitable?     MobileMe and iWeb are a GREAT service to Apple customers.    I feel this discontinuation is very unfortunate for many.

Actually, the discontinuation of MobileMe is an opportunity to move on to more professional website hosting and management.  MMe is just too social networking oriented and lacking in serious webstite hosting capability.
Now I'm looking at 5 times the cost and 1/5th the quality
You've got to be kidding!  Web hosting that has more hosting features that MMe had is readily available for as little as $3.95/mo. That's only $48/year - aboiut 1/2 of what MMe costs.  Included are a domain name, unlimited storage and transfer, subdomains, multiple email addresses, advanced security features and, something MobileMe never had, 24/7 actual ear-to-ear customer support! What a novel idea.  Actually quickly contacting and talking to a real person to get help on a problem.
I moved about 30 websites from MMe to my new host in about an hour once the new server was setup. This describes how I did it: iW13 - Easily Transfer Website Folders From MobileMe to a 3rd Party Server.
This tutorial explains how I host multiple sites with just one domain name: iW16 - Using HostExcellence.com with iWeb. The same can be done with subdomains but the folder method I used was easer in my opinion.
Depending on your website's design and intented use iWeb an still be a viable web builder.  However, for more complex websites and connecting with mobile users one will have to begin using other applications.  Read the following:
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
You can move you 3 websites to a new host in no time and save money doing it.

  • Integrating a PHP Web App with an Existing Azure Mobile Services and Mobile App

I've got an existing mobile app that is integrated with Azure's mobile services. The mobile services are currently connected to Azure Active Directory with MFA enabled. I'd like to build a separate PHP-based web application (Azure VM) that uses this existing
    mobile service and authentication.
I reviewed the Azure PHP SDK, but didn't see any tie-ins to the Mobile Service. Additionally, Azure has some great tutorials, but for mobile services they all seem to focus on iOS, Android, and Windows phone. Any insight into how to tie a PHP-app into this
    backend would be much appreciated!

Although there isn't any client library for PHP, you can still access Mobile Service using the
    Azure Mobile Service REST API.

  • Imac, mobile me and iphone not syncing

I had a big software problem with my iMac and I was told i might need a new hard drive and so I was afraid (probably needlessly) that if i had a new hard drive and lost all my info that my contacts and calendar on my imac would be blank and that it might then turn my mobile me and iphone calendar and contacts blank.
So I guess I turned something off on the off chance that could happen. So now this is what is going on and i want to fix it.
If I add a calendar date to my iphone neither mobile me or my imac calendar are updated.
If I add a calendar date to mobile me the imac is updated but the iphone is not.
If I add a calendar date to the imac mobile me is updated and the iphone is not.
So it looks like I've somehow turned off my iphone from the mix. How do I turn it back on?
    Thanks for your help,
    Susan

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

  • Mobile me and contacts.

Hi, when I first got my Iphone 17mths ago and at the time could only transfer my contacts through mobile me and the free trial. However, that was over after 3mths and since then everytime I go into my contacts it says "cannot verify mobile me" but the contacts are still there. I tried removing the mobile me from my phone but I lost all my contacts so had to reconnect. Now, with the new facebook upgrade its appearing there to when it tries to connect with mobile me. What's the way around this? One day I'd love to pay for mobile me but it's not feesible at the moment.
    Ryan

Why could you only transfer your contacts to your iPhone through MobileMe? You didn't have a computer available at the time?
If you are syncing contacts over the air with a MobileMe account on your iPhone, if you turn Contacts off for over the air syncing with the account settings or you delete the account from your iPhone, the contacts will no longer be available on your iPhone.
Your contacts should be available with the Address Book on your Mac and if so, you can sync contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process. This will not sync the contacts on your iPhone that were downloaded from your MobileMe online address book with the Address Book on your Mac.
Since your MobileMe account is no longer active, you will continue to get this message if your former MobileMe account is not deleted from your iPhone.

Two weeks ago I was updating my iPhone 4 to the new software. As soon as it was done it sent my phone into recovery mode. I talked to apple support line four times and they could not figure it out. I got frustrated after two days of
Not being able to use my phone and went to the apple store and had them restore it. When that happened it of
Course deleted all my stuff on my phone. When I was talking to apple support on the phone they told
Me that my computer was not downloading mobile me or apple mobile support. I've never had problems before until I tried updating it. So now Ive tried
Reinstalling iTunes and my computer will not dl mobile me or apple mobile support. I went to their support online and followed some
Of their stuff to try to fix and disabled Something and it told me to restart my computer and so I did and now I can't find the page where it was giving me the directions for it bc when I disabled programs it somehow disabled to where I can't get on the Internet. My phone works fine now just don't have my numbers, music, apps, ringtones pictures etc. The problem is now my computer, iTunes, my Internet connection, and mobile me and apple mobile software. • FiOS Mobile App and DVR

    Hello,
I have 2 Cisco CHS435HDC DVR's that are connected to my home network. The other day I downloaded the FiOS Mobile app and wanted to see if I can watch my recorded shows or schedule new shows using this app. The app recognizes I have 2 devices but it doesnt display my recordings or schedules. In the app it also says the devices are not connected to the network but I can tell they are. Both my phone and the devices are on the same subnet/network so no firewalls or routes are in play.
One thing to note is that I have business service but there is no support forum on the business side so I'm hoping someone here can help.
    1. How can I configure the app to connect to the DVR's or configure the DVR's to broadcast whats needed so they are seen on the network by the app? I cant figure out what I need to do here. (Note I activated and authorized all the devices and accounts)
    2. In the DVR I cant seem to find where to change the IP address if for example I wanted to specify a static IP.
    3. If I wanted to also connect via the internet what ports do I need to forward through my firewall?
    Thanks in advance.

I have my phone registered under Menus\Settings\Remote DVR\Mobile Phone Settings. This is where I registered my phone nunber and it provided a confirmation code. My iPhone works great. Note there is an older App that was replace by a newer app. Make sure you have the latest application for your device.
I am not sure if a plain iPAD or other non phone devices work. I know there had been some complaints, and some requests for applications for non phone devices. Not sure on the status.
I requested one that did not require to go to the Verizon site and back. Why not a local App on the local Wifi? And Also a remote control application developed for your PC? All can be found on The ideas boards, along with many other ideas.

  • Can I sync database files over to Mobile Me and then from MobileMe to iPod?

Many programs will allow you to sync over Mobile Me and but not over a USB connection. Can I sync the files on my Mac to Mobile Me and then sync them to my iPod when I am somewhere that has a WiFi connection? I am asking this because the place I work does not have WiFi and I need to have a WiFi connection to sync database files (such as OmniFocus, Billings, and Bento.)

"I hope they fix this in a later update."
I don't think that it is broken. I think that it is intentional ( by design). Possibly to make it more difficult to use ipod touch to pirate/steal music/movies/etc.
The ipod touch and iphone have never had this feature.
    Who knows?

  • I just upgraded to the new mobile me calendar and now all my calendar entries on iCal have been erased. As I type this the calendar entries are still on the mobile me and iphone calendars. How do I restore the calendar entries to iCal?

I just upgraded to the new mobile me calendar and now all my calendar entries on iCal have been erased. As I type this the calendar entries are still on the mobile me and iphone calendars. How do I restore the calendar entries to iCal?

Please always post your System details when you have a query. The upgrade to the new MobileMe calendar produces different results, and different problems, with different versions of OSX.
Snow Leopard: during the upgrade process your iCal calendars should be moved to MobileMe (this can take some time and you have to wait for it to happen). Once done, your iCal reads the calendars from MobileMe so any changes made in either place will be visible immediately. If this has not happened then this Apple Tech Note provides instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3397
Leopard: when the upgrade is completed iCal on Leopard will not be able to see the MobileMe calendars until an additional process is carried out, detailed in this Apple Tech Note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4330
Tiger: iCal on Tiger cannot read the MobileMe calendars, period. The only workaround is to upgrade to Leopard, or Snow Leopard if possible (Intel Mac required).
