Mobile me email account issues in iCloud

I cannot access my @me mail in iCloud? my @me account seems to be offline as I am not receiving any emails on the various devices that are linked? I did migrate my @me account to iCloud and has been working perfectly until yesterday. Please help as this is urgent. Is there any way of accessing the server and at least trying to forward my mail to another email address while I sort this out. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Sadao, looks like we were not the only ones have a look at this link https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4284808 it seems as thou it was a server issue that has now been resolved luckily... Otherwise it could of been a nightmare... anyways I am sure your maill caccount will be back on line shortly if not already. You wont need to change any settings just leave everything as is. Cheers

Basically iCloud will do it for you.
All you have to do on your iOS devices is login to your iCloud account and enable mail synchronisation, iCloud will do the rest.
Your profile states that you are using OS X 10.5.8, which cannot run iCloud. If this is the case, you can still use iCloud mail, but will have to enter the details manually.(iCloud requires OS X 10.7.2 or better on a Mac)
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

Are the usernames the same - e.g. is it [email protected] and [email protected] or is it [email protected] and [email protected]?
If the former, they are the same thing, part of the same account, and deliver into the same inbox.
If they are different then either
a) One of them is an 'alias' on the same account and delivers into the same inbox, or
b) You have two separate iCloud accounts.
In the latter case you cannot move an address from one account to another; in the other cases they are already 'merged'.

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud. The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).

Not sure what you mean? Who else provides free email accounts? Google, Yahoo, Microsofts Hotmail and Live services, AOL/AIM, and most ISPs provide you with an email account as well, but each runs their own email services on their own equipment - these are proprietary services liked to physically distinct email servers (actuall, in most case to large server farms). So Apple has no legal right, nor means, to host your Yahoo account on their iCloud servers, nor can Yahoo host your iCloud email account on their servers - neither owns the others domains (Yahoo cannot host me.com since they don't own that domain name).
Many people (myself included) own our own domains and pay a hosting company to host those on their equipment. I use my own domains for much of my email (and almost all of my personal email). While those email accounts physically live on the hosting companies equipment, I can always change hosting companies and move my domain, since I own those domains. There are many hosting companies - GoDaddy, 1and1, HostMonster, Yahoo, ...

I have a Power Mac 5 WITHOUT an intel processer/ I have updated my computer to snow lepord which is as far as I can go.
I think you updated to Leopard/10.5.x, Snow Leopard/10.6 is Intel only.
Actually you're in luck, you can still use iCloud for eMail on PPC using 10.4.11 or 10.5.8, but it must be IMAP, not POP...

One secret I think is when setting it up don't choose the .me/.mac type, it'll auto fill in .mac as the server which won't work, go back afterwards & change the servers.

How do I delete my Mobile Me email from my Iphone. I keep getting double emails one for iCloud and another for Mobile Me. Logged out of Mobile Me on my Imac but can't get rid of it on my Iphone. It does not show Mobile Me under Mail in the settings. It does show iCloud and my gmail account

I think it has something to do with @me.com and @mac.com cause I use both of them. Do you use both when you send and receive emails?

Two Email accounts issue

I have two email accounts set up, Exchange and Gmail, and all of my emails are showing up in All Inboxes but I can't look at emails separated by account. Also, under accounts there is nothing there on the Mailboxes screen. Does anyone know how to be able to separate them? And to have them show up in the Accounts area in the Mail Box

There are many things that could be going on, so you will need to provide a more detailed description when you post to the proper forum. You did not say if this was an Outlook issue with Exchange. If it is, you should look for an Exchange forum.
If this is an issue with Microsoft's Outlook for Hotmail/Live/Outlook, you would need to find that sort of forum. If this is for mobile Outlook, it could be that is just sort of the way it works. I have two emali accounts - hotmail and live.
On my mobile phone, they both come into a single instance of mail.
So, when you determine the right forum, provide a more complete description of your environment and problem.

I have a secondary icloud.com email account associated with my icloud account. How can I add the secondary account to my iphone and ipad? My primary email address is not an icloud.com address.

Each iCloud account only has a single iCloud account associated with it. The additional address(s) are only alias address, and will deliver email to the same inbox. If you want to add additional alias addresses (up to 3), you can do this as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a.
If you want to add an additional iCloud email account, you will have to add a secondary iCloud account to your devices. You can do this by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, sign with a different Apple ID to create the account, then turn on Mail. Be aware that mail in a secondary account will only be fetched on a periodic schedule as push mail is only supported in your primary account.

You cannot merge Apple IDs but you can go to Settings > iCloud and 'Delete Account'. When prompted to turn off documents and data, choose the only option which is Delete from my iPhone, but on the other prompt for Contacts, Calendars, etc you can choose 'Keep on my iPhone' Then once the Account is Deleted form the iPhone, log back in with the correct Apple ID and choose Merge when prompted. This will merge your data from this iPhone with that iCloud account effectively putting your devices on the same account.

Cannot add a new email account, and hence icloud account. When i go into Settings - Mail, accounts, calendars, the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud Settings ghosted (unclickable). Cannot change in itunes also.

Cannot add a new email account, and hence i have no way of creating an iCloud account (very frustrating). I had the same problem with iOS 4.3 but i had no email account to create as i set both up when i bought the iPhone 4. After adding a company email and a gmail account (both wok perfectly) i noticed that the option to create more email accounts had been ghosted (unclickable). This didn't worry me at the time. However, iCloud needs me to create one in here so i can access the cloud which i desperately want the ability to do. When i go into Settings -> Mail, accounts, calendars, the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud in the iPhone Settings ghosted (unclickable). I have same problem in itunes on Mac OSX. Surely restoring isn't the solution as i restored my iphone when changing from iOS 4.3 -> 5. Please help?

Restrictions, type in your Restriction Password,
Accounts, tick Allow Changes.
Press the back key a few times till you're back in Settings, you should see iCloud is now highlight able, now go to Mail Contacts and Calenders and add your email account as per norm.

What if you do not have access to an old email account to fix iCloud problems?

So I seem to be having the same problem as a lot of other people - I have updated my apple ID however my iCloud has not followed. When I go to change it, the old email is grayed out. I have clicked delete account, and it needs my password to my old ID to turn off 'Find my Phone'. I cannot change my current account to be linked up to my old email as it is an email I no longer have access too. What can I do? Any help would be greatly appreicated as everytime I go into my emails I am getting bombarded with iCloud account information popups.

You shouldn't need access to your old email account to fix this. Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change (don't verify the old address). Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
