Mobile Me Galleries in Aperture Project List

If I create a mobile me gallery in aperture it appears on the project list, near the top under mobile me galleries. That's fine, until I close aperture and then the next time I open it I don't have any mobile me galleries listed. It hasn't always been like this, I first noticed it about a month ago but it might have happened before then. The galleries are still on my .me space, I know that I haven't deleted them. However if I go into Aperture, preferences and go on the mobile me tab I can see all the galleries listed, I then have to click the 'check now', the galleries then reappear in my project list, although sometimes I have error messages during the process. So whilst I can get around the problem, it's not ideal and I'd really like to have all my published galleries in my project list so I can edit them. I'm using Aperture 2.1.2 and OS 10.4.11.
Has anyone else had a similar problem - any suggestions and help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Berni

A gallery can be integrated into your website by linking to it.
If you want to have the gallery in the main navigation you will have to hide the standard one and build your own. The gallery link in this menu will be an external link and should be set to open in a new window so that viewers don't have to use their back button.

You can also link to a Mobile Me gallery by clicking on the widget icon, selecting MobileMe Gallery and selecting the particular one from the list.

  • I have Iphoto library in Aperture.  Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging?

I have Iphoto library in Apeture.  Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging (within the apeture program)? Is this making a duplicate of all the photos? It seems to work??  It then leaves my Iphoto library in apeture empty.  I would like to do this just to reorganize the photos between the two.  I feel that I may have doubles and would like all pictures of one year in same project in Aperture instead of going between both.

Tell us more, please. I am not quite sure, what you want to do and how you are using Aperture and iPhoto?
Which versions of Aperture and iPhoto are you using?
Do you have separate photo libraries for Aperture and iPhoto, or are you opening your iPhoto libraries in Aperture?
I have Iphoto library in Apeture.
Did you import an iPhoto library into Aperture?  And now you are seeing a section "iPhoto Library"  in the Aperture projects list in the Inspector?
Events and albums you imported from iPhoto (Import > Library > Some iPhoto Library) will be imported as Aperture projects and albums, and they will behave exactly as other Aperture projects and albums.

You can drag images from any project in Aperture to other projects and that will move (not duplicate) the images and all its versions to that project. And when you drag all images from the project to another project, the remaining project will be empty and can be deleted.  (Caution: Photos that you have hidden in iPhoto will not be visible in Aperture. If you are not sure, if you have hidden photos, open the library again in iPhoto and unhide all photos).

There should be no problem with moving all photos from the same years to the same projects. You can also drag projects in "Projects" view on top of each other. That will merge them.
You could also define smart albums in Aperture to search for images taken at a specific period of time:
File > New > Smart album:
Then, in the Smart Settings HUD, click "Add Rule" and add a Date or Calendar rule.
For example, to find all images taken in 2010, use a rule "Date > Capture Year is > 2010"
To search for Photos taken at a specific date or at several dates, use a "calendar" rule. This way, you do nat have to type the date, but can pick it from a mini calendar.

  • Putting Mobileme Gallery Photos into Aperture Project

    Hello,
I was recently on vacation with my brother and we each took pictures with our cameras. We used a laptop to load the photos to a new mobile me gallery. When I got home, I opened aperture and the mobileme gallery appeared under the mobileme gallery list. My question is how can I get those photos into a new aperture project, where the photos become the master photos locally on my mac? I tried selecting and dragging them to a new project but each photo has a globe on it and I am worried that if I delete the gallery, the photos will disappear.
    Jeff

    Hi,
I have one image in my Aperture Library that has a globe badge. I've been struggling to understand what it means as this badge is not explained in the manual and I can't find anything on the web.
Are you saying this happens when you pull photos from MobileMe? I've never done this, so it's a bit strange. I do often send galleries from Aperture to MobileMe, but have never done the reverse.

  • Mobile Me Galleries in iWeb maintain formatting and features?

    Hello,
Perhaps this is more of an iWeb question than an Aperture question, but here it goes.
My question is: Can you integrate Aperture/Mobile Me galleries into iWeb? If so, do they maintain their formatting and features (eg, mosaic display, passwords for clients, etc)?
    Thanks very much

  • Lost link to mobile me galleries

I was uploading some pictures to my mobile me gallery when Aperture quit unexpectedly. When I restarted Aperture, all of the links to my mobile me galleries were gone from the project pane. I tried rebuilding the library but it did not help. Any suggestions about how to go about relinking to Mobile Me?

  • Losing Mobile Me galleries due to failed connection

I just started using my Mobile Me account with Aperture and was initially impressed with the galleries. Very spiffy!
But then the troubles started. The last two galleries I made didn't update due to problems connecting to the mobileme upload site. To make matters worse, the entire gallery then disappeared from the list. I have one that just didn't update and one that has disappeared on me (twice now!). After the first time, I created an album to collect pictures before remaking the online gallery.
Any ideas of what's going on? Is it likely a local issue or is there something with MobileMe?

Wonder if all of this has to do with this new malignant virus that's surfaced? I've noticed very sluggish, download times--akin to the old network overloads of the past. So uncharacteristic of Mac....

  • Desktop can not see all images in aperture project

When trying to change the background picture desktop lists my aperture projects but only displays a subset (5 of 114) of the images in one project. Also have 2 of 8, 152 of 152, and 0 of 12 in different projects.

It's possible you don't have Previews for the "missing" images (Aperture shares the Preview, not the full image).
What happens if you update every image in the Project's Preview?
To update all the JPEG previews in a project
In the Library inspector, Control-click the project whose JPEG previews you want to update, then choose Update Previews from the shortcut menu.

  • Web Gallery created in Aperture not listed

I created three new web galleries using Aperture 2 and they are not showing up when I try to add them to my iweb page. When I log on to my .mac account they are only visible when I choose my gallery. They are not listed out with the ones I created in iPhoto. What am I doing wrong?

I've asked this question ever since the option was offered.
Know of no one that has had it work and have never seen an answer.
Sent feedback to Apple. No reply.
Called tech support. They had no idea.
You see the file on the Idisk, but they are not recognized by Iweb.
Would love to know the answer.
    ANYONE???

  • Delete picture from a Mobile Me album in Aperture

    Hi,
I just made a mobile me gallery out off the aperture interface and sync the content to mobile me. So far so good. But I was wondering if it's possible to delete pictures in the mobile me gallery in aperture. If I want to delete a picture in the gallery the picture will also be deleted in aperture, and that I don't want... I just want to change the pictures in the gallery. Off course I can delete the pictures in the mobile me web-interface, but the pictures are still in aperture-mobile-me gallery and will be back in the gallery the next time you sync the gallery I guess.
thanks in advance for any reply.
    Pascal.

MobileMe Galleries are simply a type of album. Deleting an image from an album will not delete the image from Aperture. Simply select the image. and press the delete key. Aperture will warn you before it deletes a master, but it will remove a version from am Album without comment.

  • MobileMe galleries and Aperture stacks

I'm using MobileMe galleries to share and display some photos. It seems you can't upload images from within Aperture projects when they're stacked, at least only the images on the top of the stacks. I often want to upload a whole project, without unstacking, so I just want to selec-all and create a new album. But all I'm uploading are the top images of each stack. Does anyone know what the solution might be?
    Many thanks,
    Richard

    Richard,
This is expected behavior when using Stacks. The purpose of a stack is to stack groups several images of which you only intend to use one, known as the pick.
One solution to allow you to keep your stacks but use all the images in MobileMe Gallery, is to create a Smart Album within the project and use this Smart Album for your MobileMe Gallery.
Smart Albums you create offer the option Ignore stack groupings by unchecking the "Include stack picks only" from the Smart Album criterion. If this option is deselected (the default for a Smart Album), then all images that meet the criteria for the Smart Album will be available in the Media pane, regardless of stack pick status.

  • MobileMe Album in Project List

I used to have my MobileMe album show up in my Project List when I opened Aperture, but not anymore. I can't find what I did wrong to have it dissapear. Need help configuring it back.

This has just happened to me as well. MobileMe doesn't appear as a group header at all. It appears to have done it to me after I briefly switched my MobileMe synch settings in Aperture to manual due to network issues badly impacting Aperture performance. As a result, it has lost all of my MobileMe albums, even though I have switched the synch period back onto automatic.

  • Mobile Me galleries shown in iWeb widget options

I have discovered the MobileMe galleries that are listed as an option to add are only those created in iPhoto or iWeb. Although the Media panel gives way to Aperture libraries, it doesn't incorporate the MobileMe galleries created in Aperture.
Is there a work-around to add the MobileMe galleries from Aperture into the widget in iWeb? I realize this may be more or less an "Aperture" question - but because it is in iWeb, I thought to ask here first. Thanks!

    It's a known problem; try this work-around...
Log into me.com and open the gallery you prepared in aperture.
Select the "Adjust the settings for this album" button at the top, then select the pop-up that says "Syncs with" and choose "iPhoto" instead of "Aperture".
    Press "Publish".
That's it, the gallery now appears in the iWeb Widgets list!
Also it still syncs with Aperture, both way

  • Relinking MobileMe Galleries to Aperture

I recently rebuilt my Aperture DB and noticed that once back all my MobileMe galleries weren't showing up on the left sidebar. I went into the MobileMe preferences in Aperture and they are all listed there. Does anyone have a solution for re-referencing (or reconnecting) MobileMe galleries to the sidebar? Without this they are sort of useless for me, just sitting out there on the web.
BTW, I did try creating a new gallery to see if that would somehow magically force them all to be referenced. It instead will only show that new gallery.
Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have the same question. I initially used iPhoto to create and manage my stuff, along with mobileme galleries. I want to switch to Aperture, but I do not know how to gain control of existing mobileme galleries through Aperture. I don't really want to recreate them all.
Can someone answer this for us?

  • Aperture Project Re-Import Problem

Aperture Project exported to aux. drive cannot be imported.  Getting "Error Importing Library" message; "The library could not be imported because it is from an out of date version of Aperture 3. Please upgrade the library to the latest version of Aperture"
The project is a 2009 project that was exported this year after I upgraded to 3.0, in an effort to create more disk space in my MacBook Pro.  I have several years of well over 100 Projects that I've exported "Projects as a New Library" and am now unable to re-import them for added work and access.
Is there a clear cut solution to this?  I've done some searching on web and it appears this has been a significant problem for other Apertures users as well.
    nikondon

    Hello nikondon,
First you need to upgrade your old Library. Select it in the Finder and double-click it. That will launch Aperture with this library and convert it.
(or hold down the Option key while clicking on the Aperture Icon in the Dock.  From the list of available libraries choose this particular one).
Then you will be able to import your old library into your current one.

  • IPhoto Events to Aperture Projects

    For those in the know,
Are iPhoto Events analogous to Aperture Projects?
I am considering purchasing Aperture 3 with the goal of leaving iPhoto behind.
I really like the way events are managed and displayed in iPhoto.
Should I be safe in considering Aperture's Projects like iPhoto events.
Can projects be sorted and viewed by day, in grid fashion a la iPhoto??
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Damien,
If I were you, I'd download a trial version of Aperture and see if it works the way you want. (Even if it doesn't work how you want, you might still be happy with how it works.)
Aperture Projects are loosely analogous to iPhoto Events. However, a Project can have any number of other containers (albums, slideshows, etc) below it, so it is much more versatile. However, if you don't use any other organization within a Project, than the Event/Project analogy is pretty sound.
As for viewing Events in iPhoto by day, I wasn't aware that was a function of iPhoto. I know you can view Event-by-Event, and if your events are split into days, you will get a grid of days (really events) showing you the "key" photo in each Event. There is a view of all of your projects within Aperture that does the same thing. (I rarely use that, though, since I can see a list of all of my projects and just click on an item in the list to see all the pictures.)
