Mobile Me Gallery --- iCloud

Is there something that is like the Gallery with MobileMe on iCloud? I like to post pics for family etc and Gallery was perfect for that.

iCloud does not have any feature similar to MobileMe's gallery. You'll need to find hosting for that sort of thing on another site. I have been using Picasa, but mostly because that's what my parents and my brother like. It lacks the elegance and simplicity that the MobileMe gallery used to have, though the MobileMe gallery used to give their older Windows machines trouble viewing stuff sometimes. In any case, Picasa is free, and you can choose to make albums publicly available or only available by invitation on an individual basis, so it works for me!

Why is mobile me gallery not on iCloud?

Curious that icloud has
Mail, contacts, calander, find my phone and iwork but does not have the mobile me bits like gallery. Given we migrated from mobile me to icloud it seems starange that things are left behind.
Does anyone know if there are plans for the likes of the gallery to be migrated across ?

Please try the following…
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

Help requested: mobile me to iCloud forced move?

I just got an EM from Apple saying I have to move from MobileMe to iCloud. As I read it, iCloud REQUIRES Lion.
I am running snow leopard because I still use the evil Intuit's Quicken 2007, which doesn't run on Lion. I've looked for better home finance software, but it's all garbage, so I hadn't made a move.
In this switch, will I loose my Mobile Me Gallery and e-mail (the only two things I really use)? Do I have any hope to stay on SnowLeopard and move to iCloud? What are my options here (short of ditching Quicken or ditching my apple e-mail and gallery)?

You will lose the Gallery whatever happens - iCloud has no equivalent facility and MobileMe will terminate at the end of June; so you need to look for a third-party alternative. This page may help:

It's possible to migrate to iCloud with Snow Leopard - go to http://me.com/move and when asked to confirm that your Mac has Lion, lie and say 'yes'. You can set Mail up manually to access iCloud email - details here:

There is an unsupported hack which can make Calendar syncing work, but the other facilities won't work: from what you say this won't bother you.
You should migrate at some point before June and set the email up: doing this will not make any difference to your Gallery but as I say you will have to deal with this as a separate issue.

Can not view mobile me gallery videos on IPHONE

Can any body tell me why i can not view my mobile me gallery videos on my Iphone? When i bring up my gallery on my phone it only shows some of my posted video not all of them and the time has 0:00. If you try and play it you get an error message.

When you send an email announcement for others to view a MM gallery, you can Bcc yourself with the message - to your MM address.

last thing you can try would be go to settings, general, settings, reset all settings
if that does not work, a factory restore will be needed...

After 1st Gen iPod touch reset, cannot configure mail for Mobile Me or iCloud account

I recently reset my iPod touch 1st Gen, v. 3.1.3 (7E18) and have not been able to configure Mail to check the Mobile Me or iCloud mail server. I get an error msg that the user name or password must be incorrect, but they're not. I assume this is due to the old IOS not being up to date with iCloud technologies, but I was able to get mail on this device before resetting. I don't use it much for email, but do carry it on trips as a backup access device to get to mail and calendars. I dont really want to use Safari to check mail when there is a mail app for doing so.

Problem using email to upload image files to Mobile Me gallery

I will cross post this question to both Mail and Mobile Me discussion groups because I don't know where my problem lies.
I have published a gallery page from iPhoto to my Mobile Me gallery. There are two ways to upload additional photos. I am not having trouble adding image files with the Upload feature. I cannot get the email function to work. The emails I send to the email address for the gallery bounce back to my mail inbox.

One of the images I am trying to attach is a jpeg file of 61 kb.
I have tried to drag the image from my desktop to the body of the email. I have tried using the "attach" function and selecting the file name. I am not sending any text with these files.
When I built these albums, I checked and enabled all the options.
I am having this same issue when I try to upload via email to any of my Mobile Me gallery pages.

If anyone wishes to try to upload to that gallery using email (Send to Album) that would be great and if successful, that might provide a clue to my problem.
As I say, I currently have one photo there. If you find a lot more, please do not add.

The images I am trying are newly created and old.
A weird hint perhaps...
I just copied an image from Apple's home page and pasted it into the email and tried again...
it worked.
So I tried again, dragging from iPhoto and it did not work... the email bounced back.
So I tried again, this time using copy and paste (like I did from Apple's page) from iPhoto... it did not work.

IWeb and Mobile Me gallery?

I am using iWeb to create my web site but publishing my photos from iPhoto to the mobile me gallery. In iWeb I am using the Black theme where it puts the main links to the different pages across the top. I would like to add a link there that goes to the gallery.me.com page. how do I do this??

iWeb: you don't need to save anything from the iDisk - iWeb does not open html files. Your iWeb sites are held in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb in a file called Domain. So even after MobileMe terminates you will still be able to open iWeb and see your sites, you just won't be able to publish them to MobileMe. You can publish them to any other webspace - please see this page:

Gallery: if your albums arre synced with iPhoto or Aperture then the pictures are on your Mac anyway. If not, and you don't have local copies (which is always a risky procedure) you will have to download each picture separately. Alternatively there is an online photo gallery service called ZangZing which provides an easy import facility from various other services including MobileMe's Gallery. It's free until June 2012 after which the first 2GB is free with escalating price levels starting at $5 per month or $50 a year.

Mobile Me gallery sorting issue

I recently upgraded iLife from '08 to '09. I am having an issue when I publish and event to my Mobile Me Gallery where its not sorting the photos correctly in the gallery. They don't seem to sorted the same way as I have them in the event when I publish them to the mobile me gallery, its not doing it every time just sometimes. I know I can go into the published gallery within iPhoto and go to view > sort and change it in there but it seems strange that I would have to do that. Why wouldn't it publish the same way as I have them sorted in the event. It also seems that sometimes when I do resort them in the gallery that it doesn't stay. Also is there a way to set the default setting to sort a certain way? Thanks.

I am having similar problems, also in reordering multiple galleries in iPhoto.
try leaving feedback for Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html to make them aware of the issues. Maybe they will fix this in a future update. it did work in iPhoto '08 after all.

"Mobile me" gallery sorting

Hey guys,
Two problems with Aperture 3 :
1) Impossible to sort "mobile me" gallery by name : it always comes back in weird orders...
2) Aperture 3 keeps freezing when I try to close it, forcing me to "force quit" it. Then, other problem emerged, like my iphone wouldn't get all the pictures of my librairies when syncronizing. I tried to "repair" it by cmd+option, and then, it made me a separate file "recovered project" with like 200 pictures in it — which I still have in my initial file, but as "copies" : if I delete the "recovered project", those will miss the "original" file...
Any idea of a solution, or should I just export my 6 000 pics library to reimport it with a clean install — with the "store file in their current location" option checked ?

Mobile me gallery question

hi. i have a quesion please: when i create a mobile me gallery, the size of the image to be viewed is really small. is there a way to adjust the viewing size?

My question is ,when we sync with our mobile me gallery ,aren't we supposed to get our photos back to the computer's library automatically?
No - you need to drag the photos for the MoblieMe galleries to the library
and if not ,how do we get the photos and iphotos library and events back to a freshly installed operating system.
The best way would be to load the backup you made just before erasing your drive and installing OS X

Mobile me gallery and stacks

When I drag a stack pick to a mobile me gallery the entire stack shows up in the gallery and none of the pictures in the stack are selected as the stack pick. Once I have all my pictures in the mobile me gallery I have to go back and re-select the picture in each stack I want published.
Is there a way to drag the stack pick from an album to a mobile me gallery without having to go back and re-selecting the stack pick

Not that I am aware of. I drag the pic to the mobileme gallery. Then click on the version I want to display in the gallery, and "shift-\" to make that image the "album" pick. This keeps my project "stack" pick intact. Every album or gallery can have their own picks, designated by the check-mark on the thumbnail.
Would be nice if the album pick was designated by which version is dragged to the album, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Mobile me gallery vs Aperture 3 -- incompatible?

My Mobile Me gallery worked perfectly in Aperture 2. I upgraded to Aperture 3 and about 20% of my gallery images got deleted and the remaining ones appeared in a random order. I am rebuilding the galleries now, but the process is VERY annoying (not to mention the time and effort needed to select from ten thousand images). The order of the images keep changing; when I try to rearrange then, some stay in their desired positions while others jump around. Although my update preference is set to "manual", Aperture keeps updating every 30 seconds or so, slowing down work significantly. My final grudge is that some of the images that appear in the published gallery are not the same as the ones I chose to create the gallery. It appears that Aperture 3 is full of bugs ... Any advice?

Aperture does not have bugs any more, at least that is what some folk would have you believe.
If you have just installed Ap3. It needs quite a long time to do all that it has to, to finish fully, and depending mostly on the library size, it could take a couple of days to several to finish. It is best left to get on with it. If this is not the problem then i have no other ideas. Allan

Mobile me gallery in Safari

I added a mobile me gallery to a page in iweb 09 using the mm widget.
the gallery displays fine using a computer browser, but in safari on the iphone the pictures dont appear. I have to create a seperate link to the gallery to get them to appear.
any ideas?

obviously replace userid with your MobileMe login but the iPhone does challenge you for your ID properly and will let you view the gallery.
