Mobile Me on Death Row?

Hello fellow iWebbers. When Apple moved us from mac.com to me.com, many of us lost all the comments that people posted on our blogs, podcasts, photo pages, et al. Now that Apple has released OS X Lion and iCloud, iCloud will supplant Mobile Me, whose demise is scheduled for June 2012. But iCloud will no longer support iWeb publishing like Mobile Me. The only recourse we will have is to publish our iWeb Sites to another hosting service. But currently, all the neat features supported by Mobile Me, such as blog and photo comments, website password, blog search, and hit counter, are not supported when publishing an iWeb Site to another hosting service. I have left feedback on both the iWeb and the Mobile Me feedback pages, requesting that Apple release to us the CGI scripts that are necessary to support blog and photo comments, website password, blog search, and hit counters on iWeb Sites hosted by other hosting services, before Mobile Me goes to the same cemetery as old Dot Mac. I hereby invite all the iWeb community to post feedback both on the Mobile Me and iWeb feedback pages and ask that Apple release those necessary CGI scripts to the iWeb community BEFORE the Mobile Me server is taken down.

To add another take on the situation:
It is now is apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple since  new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.  iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ RSS Feed Widget
All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party options as Cyhclosaurus has pointed out.  There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
Click to view full size
However, Roddy McKay and myself have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.  This will allow us to use iWeb for as long as the OS supports iWeb and iWeb support web standards.
I would imagine that iWeb and iDVD will be dropped from future boxed versions of iLife 11.  However, there may be some copies still on the shelves that would include iWeb and iDVD for those who get new Macs without those two apps.  Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife box that I bought.
The biggest fear I have is that Apple will drop this iWeb Community after MMe is discontinued since it won't be officially supporting iWeb.  If we lose the community and and access to the contributions of those users like Cyclosaurus, Wyodor, Roddy, etc. who provide us with scripts and the many solutions for adding additional capability to iWeb we will all be on our own and out on a limb.

  • ADF Mobile: What is the row element of AmxAccessorIteratorBinding ???

    I can obtain the iterator, but methods don't give any clue.
    What shall I cast AmxAccessorIteratorBinding.getCurrentRow or BasicIterator.getCurrentRow ???
    None returns any specific type, all are Object.
    When I capture by propertyListener, it's the same...
    <amx:setPropertyListener from="#{bindings.srvIterator.currentRow}"
    to="#{pageFlowScope.currentRow}" type="action"/>
    Any ideas? What is the exact type to cast a row element?

    Hi,
    I suggest to use AmxIteratorBinding.getIterator() to obtain an instance of BasicIterator as it provides some additional methods and functionality.

  • Programatically retrieve data using iterator in oracle ADF Mobile

    I want to read programatically data using iterator in ADF mobile. My code is :
    try

    BasicIterator bIter = iter.getIterator();
    iter.getIterator().first();

    for(int i = 0; i < iter.getIterator().getTotalRowCount(); i++)
    row = (GenericType)iter.getCurrentRow();

    Hi,
    You can try the below code. Make sure the WeatherDescription should be of type Tree binding
    ValueExpression ve1 =
    AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.departments.collectionModel}", AmxCollectionModel.class);
    AmxCollectionModel model = (AmxCollectionModel)ve1.getValue(AdfmfJavaUtilities.getAdfELContext());
    Object[] myArr = model.getKeys();
    for (int x = 0; x < myArr.length; x++) {
    Object myObj = myArr[x];
    Map provider = (Map)model.getProviders().get(myObj);
    String deptName = provider.get("deptName").toString();
    Hope this article may help you - http://deepakcs.blogspot.in/2013/02/adf-mobile-iterate-through-all-rows-in.html

  • Enabling mobility on Call Manager ...

    Hi,
    now we planning to enable Mobility on some IP Phone in Our cluster which run CCM 6.1 i would like to knew if by enabling this option it consume more licence units or what??
    Thanks
    Moe

    Hi Moe,
    Licensing for Cisco Unified Mobility
    This section contains information on licensing for Cisco Unified Mobility.
    Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration Configuration Tips and GUI Changes
    •System  > Licensing > License Unit Calculator—Displays a row for Mobility  Enabled End User (Adjunct), which displays the number of device license  units that are consumed and credited for adjunct devices that are used  specifically for Cisco Unified Mobility.
    •User  Management > End User—Displays the Enable Mobility check box, which  triggers device license units to get consumed; works in conjunction with  the Primary User Device drop-down list box.
    If you check the Enable Mobility check box and fail to choose an adjunct  device from the Primary User Device drop-down list box, four device  license units (DLUs) get consumed, as indicated in the Mobility Enabled  End Users row in the License Unit Calculation window.
    If you enable Cisco Unified Mobility and later choose an adjunct device  from the Primary User Device drop-down list box, the system credits you  with two DLUs, as indicated in the Mobility Enabled End Users row in the  License Unit Calculation window.
    •User  Management > End User—Displays the Primary User Device drop-down  list box, which controls the number of device license units that are  consumed for adjunct devices for Mobile Connect; works in conjunction  with the Enable Mobility check box in the End User Configuration window.
    After you check the Enable Mobility check box, choose an adjunct device  that you want to assign to the user specifically for Cisco Unified  Mobility. For example, choose a device, such as a desktop phone, that  the user uses in addition to the cell phone for Cisco Unified Mobility.
    Before you choose an adjunct device, consider the following information:
    –Only devices that consume two or more device license units (DLUs) display in the drop-down list box.
    –For  Cisco Unified Mobility, you cannot assign the same device to multiple  users, so only the devices that you can assign display in the drop-down  list box.
    –If  you check the Enable Mobility check box and choose a device from the  drop-down list box, two DLUs get consumed, as indicated in the Mobility  Enabled End Users (Adjunct) row in the Licensing Unit Calculation  window.
    –If  you delete the device from Cisco Unified Communications Manager  Administration or remove the assignment after you enable Mobile Connect,  two DLUs get consumed after you delete the device or remove the  assignment, as indicated in the Mobility Enabled End Users row in the  License Unit Calculation window.
    Please refer the below release notes for more information.

  • How to downgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 7

    I recently purchased a T430 with Windows 8 loaded. After I played with Windows 8 for a few days, I regretted that I had not ordered the Win7 version. I have a Windows 7 Proression edition CD, so without too much research, I thought I could just easily install the Windows 7 over Windows 8 and be done. What a fool I was! And let me share my failure experience so no same mistake would be made by others who wanted to do the same:
    First, I tried to put in a Windows 7 CD and run installation from the CD; sure, it failed quickly.
    So, I went into the BIOS and changed the Startup setting "UEFI boot" only to "Legacy boot" so it will force the machine to boot from my Windows 7 CD. That little bit of advanced setting was taking me to death row a bit faster, as matter of fact. Read on...
    Restarted the machine and now I was able to launch the Windows 7 installation screen. I was too excited and moved along to the point it asked if I wanted to delete the partition. In the past, when I reinstalled OS, I always said yes to delete the old partition and created a new partition. But man, I was so ignorant of new technology! Windows 8 is no longer NTFS. It is on GPT (Guid Partition Table) format now. But somehow, it did allow me to delete the main partition where Windows 8 was installed. No error message or warning message that seemed critical popup, the partition just went into a limbo.
    All hell broke loose from then on. Windows 7 could not install on GPT partition and I could not go back to Windows 8 now that its home base (GPT partition ) was damaged by Windows 7.
    After some Google search and serious read, I found postings suggesting downloading a GPARTED iso image, burned that to CD and run it from CD drive to re-partition the damaged GPT on my machine. I did all that, had the CD created, put it in the drive and waited for the magic....but No way, it did not work - it simply sit there and NOT bootable. I could go into to command line and tried to run every possible .exe or .bat file in the disk, but no thing worked.
    So the miser goes on. I had tried to call Lenovo tech support at 1-800-426-7378 and guess what I ended up? - a series of busy dial-tones...
    Community forum, my last resort! Hereos please come forward and help!!! Just don't tell me to download the GPARTED, burn it to CD or USB and boot from there....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Bill, I really appreciated that you pointed me to the DiskPart utility that is part of DOS. With that, I have successfully overcome the biggest hurdle - re-partition my disk to NTFS format. Here I recorded the steps I went through:
    Powered up T430 and let the Diagnostic tool run "Preparing Automatic Repair"
    On screen showing "Diagnose your PC" then "Attempt to repair your PC"
    Automatic Repair failed, then two options button showed "Shutdown" and "Advanced options"; selected the "Advanced options" button
    Selected "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced Options"
    Clicked on "Command Prompt" on Advanced Options screen
    Now we are in command prompt: c:\>; typed "diskpart /?" to list a possible commands
    Followed the instruction on http://www.computerhope.com/diskpart.htm to get the proper command switch
    At C:\> typed "diskpart" to enter DISKPART command mode; then type ? to list all the switches, such as GPT, Help, etc
    Diskpart>format fs=NTFS Label="86DB-AC90"
    Did not format; message returned
    There is no volume selected.
    Please select a volume and try again
    As matter of fact, the problem was that I had not selected a disk; after reading this post at http://www.jwgoerlich.us/blogengine/post/2009/11/05/Use- Diskpart-to-Create-and-Format-Partitions.aspx, I did a "list disk" command at DISKPART>, and that got me a list of disk online.
    Then I did a select disk command: DISKPART>select Disk 0; it returned message "Disk 0 is now the selected disk"
    I ran "clean" command again; this time, message returned, "DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk"
    Diskpart>format fs=NTFS quick; still got the "There is no volume selected"
    Tried DISKPART>convert mbr
    DiskPart successfully converted the selected disk to MBR format
    DISKPART>create partition primary
    output: DiskPart succeeded in creating the specific partition
    DISKPART>select part 1
    output: Partition 1 is now the selected partition
    DISKPART>format fs=NTFS label=YangT430 quick
    Put in Windows 7 32-bit CD and installation now just sailed through.

  • BIOS Advanced Settings in Pavilion NB

    Hi,
    i need change advanced settings in BIOS, like turn off SMART, because i need restarting computer
    many many times in hour and i cant always pushing F1 to ignore SMART warning.
    I really need help with this. Is there any BIOS flash wich have advanced settings available ?
    How i can turn SMART off or how i can skip message:
    1720 - SMART Hard Drive detects imminent failure. Your hard disk drive is detecting an imminent failure. To ensure no data loss, backup contents and replace this hard disk.
    without pressing F1 ?
    I really need to know !!
    PS. I am a technician and i dont need replace HDD ;-)
    Thanks for USEFULL answers!!

    If you are getting a HDD SMART error, then the PC is saying the HDD is on death row and you need to replace it. It is not safe to your data to continue using the HDD while in this state - it could potentially fail and your data would be thrown into the void.

  • Valid image url not working in jtooltip

    Hello,
    I am displaying information in a tooltip via html. When I paste the html from the tooltip into a textpad and save it as an html file the images display fine. The same html in the jtooltip is displaying broken images in place of the actual images. What could be causing this? Below is some sample html that causes broken images to be displayed in a jtooltip. I should point that this only seems to be an issue with the Google RSS feed, I am not seeing this issue with such RSS providers as Yahoo, etc. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    I gues it is because you can't display images via html in a swing component. Swings internal HTML rendering support is limited to very basic stuff, mostly to manipulate text attributes.

  • Disable ingegrity constraint, then re-enable w/deletion of violations?

    Suppose table2 has a foreign-key relationship with table1. Is there any way to disable that constraint on table2, delete a huge number of records from table1, then re-enable the constraint on table 2... telling Oracle to simply delete any records it finds in table2 that no longer satisfy the constraint?
    Or, alternatively, is there a way to cascade the deletes, but defer the cascaded deletion until all the records that are going to be deleted from the current table have, in fact, been deleted (or at least marked for deletion)?
    For the record, the real situation is nowhere near this trivial... we have a table with ~2 billion records that's partitioned by range on its primary key (from which we want to drop a partition containing ~300 million records) and has dozens of downstream tables with foreign key relationships leading back to it.
    The good news is that this isn't a database that has to be kept online and available at all times for continual transaction processing. The foreign-key relationships are mainly there for the sake of academic correctness and self-documentation, and the records being purged are ancient and haven't even been part of a table scan for months. So we're not the least bit worried about having a row in table27 spend two hours on "death row" between the time its deletion becomes inevitable (by virtue of deleting an upstream record with a foreign-key chain leading back to it) and the time it gets physically deleted. Metaphorically, we just need a fast way to slice a chunk off from table1 with a chainsaw, then efficiently eliminate the witnesses from the downstream tables with a meat cleaver. :-)

    OK, let's suppose table1 is the big table with billions of records, from which I'm going to drop the first partition and ~250 million records contained within it.
    table2 has a foreign key relationship: table2.foo_id = table1.id
    table3 has a foreign key relationship to table2: table3.bar = table2.bar
    both foreign key relationships are deferrable, initially deferred.
    Now, partition #1 gets dropped, taking ~250 million records with it. I'm going to guess that the implicit commit comes at the end of that drop, and that's the point when Oracle officially notices that table2 has a foreign key relationship with table1 and parses through it to cascade the deletion and remove the newly-orphaned rows in table2.
    The big question is, when does table2's constraint come into effect? If Oracle defers the next implicit commit attempt until it finishes purging orphaned records from table2, then proceeds to cascade the deletion and purge orphaned records from table3 before its next attempted implicit commit, that's great.
    HOWEVER, I can see a conflict. DROP is a DDL statement that implicitly commits, but what about any DELETEs that get cascaded from it as an outcome of the drop? Do they fall under the single umbrella of the original DROP, or does something like this happen:
    Partition #1 of table1 gets dropped. implicit commit attempted, but foreign key relationship between table2 and table1 formally noticed. Oracle deletes the first orphaned row from table2, then tries to autocommit it... and notices that table3 has a FK relationship with table2. So it scans through table3, deletes any rows that the deletion of the first row from table2 will orphan, and autocommits that deletion. It then continues looking through table2 for the next orphaned row, deletes it, attempts to autocommit, notices the FK constraint (again) between table3 and table2, scans through table3 (again) looking for rows that will be orphaned by the deletion of the second row from table2, deletes them, and autocommits. Then repeats, over and over again, scanning all of table3 from top to bottom each time it deletes a row from table2.
    I have to admit I'm a little fuzzy about what exactly Oracle is doing ACID-wise behind the scenes, mainly because nothing I normally do really requires moment-to-moment integrity. All I really use transactions for is to conveniently undo the mess and restore the database to its original state if a program crashes for some reason, and try to sidestep them (and their overhead) entirely when I'm doing something manually with Toad or SQL*Plus that's time-consuming and doesn't need to keep the database in any kind of usable state between the time it starts and ends. But in the case of deferred integrity checks, I can see how encouraging Oracle to autocommit could actually make performance worse, by prematurely firing otherwise-deferrable constraints.

  • Help understanding fast and complete refresh

    hi
    -i have a table with 3 rows with col2='T' and 1 column with col2=null.
    -my query(fast refresh) is "select * from table where col='T'"
    -after first sync the 3 rows are on my mobile.
    -then i set col2='T' in 4th row and make a sync with msync, but on my mobile are only 3 rows after the sync.
    with complete refresh all 4 rows would be on my mobile.
    but what will happen with changed data in my 3 rows on mobile at this complete refresh???
    i want this 4th row on my mobile too without change the changes in my 3 rows on mobile.
    thx
    rico

    If you are using fast refresh, then after changes are made on the server side,, the MGP compose process must run to build the out queue data for the client before the change will be available for download.
    For tables with a fast refresh, if you look at the database, you will see when you publish, three triggers are created for the base table (<tablename>1/u/d) and a table CLG$<tablename> (there are others as well). when a change is made, it will fire the triggers. this will but the primary key of the changed record into the CLG$ table, and also create a record in mobileadmin.c$all_sid_logged_tables. this triggers the list of objects to process for the compose cycle.
    the MGP compose sometimes stops processing for no apparent reason, so this may be a problem. Also for snapshots on tables, this works fine. If however the object is a view, or the column is derived (say from a function) the trigger just goes on the base table(s), if the base table data does not change, no data will be composed.
    complete refreshes should not necessarily take longer to process (may be longer to download if a big table), but have the disadvantage of overwriting data just created on the client. this will not re-appear until the next synchronise (after it has been posted to the server) - this is the main disadvantage

  • Cd drive making a strange noise

    recently I have noticed that my cd drive on my powerbook has been making a very loud annoying noise when it speeds up to mount or finalize a disc
    is it on "death row"????? should I replace it??????

    Hi, t. If the drive is still performing all its functions satisfactorily, then you obviously don't have to replace it. But if the noise is unacceptably annoying, replacement is certainly an option.
    Any optical drive makes a lot more noise when an unbalanced disc is spinning in it. An unlabeled blank disc certainly shouldn't be unbalanced, but some poorly-made ones can be, and any disc that has a user-applied label is likely to be unbalanced. Running a drive with unbalanced discs puts a lot of extra wear on the spindle bearing. Once that bearing is worn, the drive will be noisy even when it's spinning a perfectly balanced disc.
    There's no room at all inside a Powerbook for any sound-damping material, and the metal case certainly does nothing to damp noise. So when anything in a Tibook gets noisy, whether it's the fans, hard drive or optical drive, it can be very annoying. It's up to you to decide how much noise you can stand before replacing your drive.

  • PowerBook won't recognize iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen, PC will

    Just before I throw yet another iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen 1GB down the toilet, I thought I'd check here for "Death Row"/"Life Support" suggestions. I've read similar questions with no, or unhelpful, answers, but here goes anyway:
    After a whopping two weeks of use, my iPod stopped being recognized by my PowerBook. Not in iTunes, not in System Profiler, not in UNIX (etc etc). However, it is still being recognized by an old PC laptop I have that runs Windows 2000. So far I've tried the following:
    -- The 5 R's
    -- rolling back to iTunes 6 on Mac
    -- iPod Reset Utility on the PowerBook (Mac doesn't recognize it so that's a dead end)
    -- Restoring the iPod on the PC via iTunes
    -- iPod Reset Utility on the PC
    -- formatting the iPod as a drive on the PC
    -- running Yamipod on both Mac and PC (admittedly, that was desperate)
    Nothing, absolutely nothing, got the Mac to recognize the iPod. At this point, I've already used my one phone call with Apple Support (owning an iPod is kinda like being in jail!) and, even though it's under warranty, since I'm in the middle of nowhere in Mexico, getting the iPod back to Apple will cost me, oh, about the cost of a new iPod Shuffle!

    If anyone comes across this post because they have the same problem, and you're "tech-savvy" enough to figure out how to reset your iPod, forget it, do yourself a favor and stop looking in this forum.
    Below are links to three recent posts, all people with the same problem, none of them got any help from any Apple moderators and got "helpful" answers like "try cleaning your USB port" and "did you sweat too much while using it?"
    "Not recognized by OS X or Windows XP -- charges and plays fine, though"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1572062&tstart=0
    "Shuffle not recognized by itunes after a couple charges"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1508538&tstart=15
    "constantly blinking orange light; no longer recognized by computer"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1444289&tstart=30
    It's a common problem, Apple knows, Apple doesn't care, so, if you can, send it back or, better yet, throw it away and save yourself future headaches.

    Hi All,
    I'm developing a shopping cart sample application.
    The first page shows 3 rows(with item and quantity columns) and "Add Row" & "save to shopping cart " buttons . On clicking add row button i want to add 4th row to the table  and on clicking "save" button all the items should add to cart.
    Can somebody tell me how to add dynamic rows in adf mobile and access the data in DC to save the data.
    Thanks,

  • How to set the row height for a list control in flex 4.5 for mobile?

    Hi,
      I have a List in my Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 and flex 4.5 mobile application. I show the image and the label in my list. The list item height gets adjusted based on the image height. I don't want this auto row adjustment. Instead I would like to set the row height manually.
    Is there any property to set the item height in a list?

    setting rowHeight in the List layout works for me.
    <s:List>
    <s:layout>
    <s:VerticalLayout rowHeight="48"/>
    </s:layout>
    </s:List>

  • ADF Mobile updating a column for all the rows

    Hi Every one,
    This is My ADFMobile Usecase:
    In My use case, I created DB Webservices  and created a  datContol on it .
    I have few AMX pages in my Taskflow.
    1st page: Authentication page with userid and p/w.
    2nd page:Need to get DeptID as  LOV and a submit button.
    3rd Page:Need to get all Employees in that Department. Need to get Empl_name, Empl_Id, Empl_salary and Empl_ Attendence. and a SYNC Button.
    Up to now every thing is fine.
    But I need to change  Empl_Attendence Column As absent or Present . I used  SelectOneChoice. Default there will be PRESENT value in back end.So after Selecting  SlectOneChoice the value (Absent) should Automatically update in DB for that row.
    Requirement:
    So How to write logic for the SYNC button to update the Empl_ Attendence for all the rows at a time.
    Thanks In Advance
    Regards
    Varma.

  • CS5.5 Mobile White Screen of Death

    HI,
    I am a N00B to CS5.5 and I am testing it out with a trial version.  I developed an app in Dreamweaver CS5.5 with phonegap.  I launched the app in CS5.5's Build and Emulate.  After my splash screen I get a white screen that never goes away.  I can't figure out what it is...
    I looked at the debug notes and found this:
      * Fail Loading With Error
      * Error - If the webpage failed to load display an error with the
    reson.
    - (void)webView:(UIWebView *)theWebView didFailLoadWithError:(NSError
    *)error
             return [ super webView:theWebView didFailLoadWithError:error ];
    I am a little confused as to what this means for me.  Can someone
    point me in the right direction?
    THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP!

    I have somewhat the same problem. I was jogging (perspiring) with the equipment and suddenly the menu selections began to fade to a white-light gray--it stopped playing. I tried discharging-charging the battery, to no avail. When I tried to recharge I get 2 beeps every 10-15 minutes.
    Help!
