Mobile Me or On my Mac

Hi,
I have a Mobile Me subscription and I'm wondering if I should be creating my iCal's on Mobile Me or 'On My Mac'? Surely those on my Mac just sync to Mobile Me so I'm a bit confused as to why iCal offers me both options. Please could someone advise the best way to create new calendars?
Thanks,
Mickey

Are you sure this is what the error message says?
Your iPad is recognized by iTunes and when selecting sync, does the error message say that your iPad is locked and you must unlock it in order to sync?

Hi there when I start move mobile me to aperture my mac goes to crash: what do I have to do?

Try to download your MobileMe content from your me.com web page:
Ope your System Preferences, then select the "Mobile Me" pane / Accounts panel.
There press the "Visit Me.com" button and download your Mobile Me contents. Then sign out of Mobile Me.
When you relaunch Aperture and the "Mobile Me" has been discontinued panel pops up don't use the "ok" button, but click the "Learn more" button. Ignore the web page, and open the Aperture preferences.
In the "Web > Accounts" tab of the preferences remove the "Mobile Me" account.

Are you getting Airport confused with Airplay?
Secondly, I don't think a Mac can be used as an Airplay receiver.  You'll need an Apple TV for that.  There are third-party software packages that can turn your computer in to an Airplay receiver, but I'm not sure what the rules are about mentioning them here on Apple's forums.
    Hint: google "airplay software"

  • Can I use my iPad to connect to a Mobile Access Server on a Mac mini ?

I run a small business and am considering setting up an internal network. The online "features" description for Mobile Access Server (a component of Snow Leopard Server) says I can connect remoetley from an iPod or a Mac. The iPad is not mentioned. can I use my iPad to connect to a Mobile Access Server?

Yes. It's the same as connecting from an iPod touch or iPhone.
Logmeinigniton or teamviewer are a few of the apps you can use.
Teamvewer has free app and you can see if it does what you want.

  • Can I delete the Mobile Apps Folder from my Mac?

I would like to separate my two iPad 2 units from my desktop Mac. Each time I open iTunes it tells me how many updates to my apps are available, usually over 100. I have tons of apps stored on this system. I would rather use my iPad 2's separately and update/install apps on those individual units.
Currently, I don't connect either iPad to the computer. I did notice they were wireless syncing. I think I disabled that now. I used the option to prevent the devices from syncing automatically as well as clicking on each device and turning wireless syncing off. When I quit iTunes and then relaunch it, I'm not seeing them auto sync so I think that part may be done.
My mobile applications folder is 117.6GB in size. I would like to eventually delete that if possible. I don't particularly need the space, but I find my Mac runs much more smoothly when I get rid of excess files I don't use. Plus it saves files on my Time Machine drive that don't need to be backed up anyway. I use icloud to backup my data and iTunes Match to put my music in the cloud. I will likely leave my music on this system and then just download what music I want on each iPad from the cloud.
Are there any things I should consider while slowly separating these devices from auto syncing? It seems pointless for me to keep downloading and updating mobile apps on my desktop computer when I can't use them on it. I currently make all my purchases of apps from each individual device. Both devices are feeding from the same iTunes account/login as well. I'm thinking the only potential issue is if an app is released and then pulled from the app store. If it's pulled then the only way to recover it would be if I stored a local copy on my desktop. I don't own any tethering apps. I think I bought one app once that was a duckhunt clone that got pulled. I never play it anymore anyway. Now that I think of it, Apple's Texas Hold-Em is another but I don't use it.
Is there anything that would prevent me from doing this? Will all updates to iOS have the option of doing it on that individual unit? Will I ever need to connect them to my desktop Mac again?
    Thanks!

  • Mobile Account on Second Partition - Mac with AD Bind

We've recently started binding our Macs into Active Directory and are using our associates' network credentials to login. Our Macs are setup with two partitions - one for the OS and Apps and one for the associates home folders. A modified MCX setting creates a home folder on the secondary partition the first time they login.
My problem is that the associate accounts appear as "External" instead of "Mobile" in System Preferences and our preference would be that the accounts remain "Mobile". If I let the MCX settings create the Mobile account on the OS partition in /Users, it stays a Mobile account. From there we can manually move the home folder and point the account to the secondary partition and it remains a Mobile account.
So I'm looking for advice on deploying a home folder to a secondary partition and having it appear as "Mobile" rather than "External". Thanks!

That just the way it is.....

  • Mobile me slow on my MAC

Ever since upgrading my original iPhone to the new software, the performance of the application is very slow on my powerbookG4. I never had delayed responses with my old mac.com mail or iCal....what gives?
also, changes I make on my iCal application don't always update on mobileme after syncing? do I even need iCal anymore or just use the calendar function on mobile me?? Apple has really lost me on this upgrade......VERY bad integration with long-term customers.

    Greetings,
The new MobileMe calendar is the "@me.com" calendar.  Once that calendar is there (it should contain all the items from the On My Mac calendar unless you've been making separate entries in it) you can delete the "On My Mac calendars".  Read this article carefully for more information: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3505
If you have been making additional entries in the "On My Mac" calendar since the appearance of the "@me.com" calendar then follow this article to re-create the "@me.com" calendars with the updated information, and once complete, delete the "On My Mac" calendars to remove the confusion: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4340
    Hope that helps.

  • How Android v4.0 mobile phone connect to i-mac 10.7 ?

    Hi,
I am using android v4.0 mobile phone.  when I connect my phone to i-mac 10.7, my i-mac can't dectect
my phone? Actually, I need to transfer my photos from my i-mac to phone , How can I do that ?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
The solution that get me going is  as below:
The steps to add printer is via http://localhost:631
    1.    From Safari, go to localhost:631 to enter cups (note proxy settings may need to be changed to allow this)
    2.    choose Administration tab
    3.    Add printer
    4.    System asks for password ---- this is the username & pwd for MAC Account (Checkbox not to be ticked for remember option)
    5. Choose smb option - Windows printer via spools
    6.    Printer address : queue name as  smb://servername.domain/queuename
    7.    Printer name –Not to have any space between words (HPCP5225dn—all one word)
         8. Choose the driver on next screen and  on the one after set printing defaults.
When set up this way, the test page for the printer may NOT work first time. Open Word or another application and print a document, you will then be asked to authenticate. Enter userid and password only (ie not domain\) and printing will work.
If you save the username and password it is saved in the User keychain - as it is per user it is OK to save and it won’t ask for authentication again.
Thanks for your help and support.
As of now I am facing another trouble while configuring the printer via server on 10.6.8.
1.If I use the same method as used for 10.7 , the job goes to Hold and asks for authentication  and in this case the username is domain\username but problem is that I am unable to save it in the keychain.
So everytime a job is sent ,it goes into hold and resuming the job asks for authentication.
    2. If I go via system preferences to add printer --it comes up with some NT_Status_Log-on Failure message or NT_Status_Bad_Network name.
Please suggest any inputs to work on.

  • How to change mobile me to icloud on mac 10.6.8.

Have tried to change mobile me to icloud a few times. On my mac os x 10.6.8. is still mobile me on it. How can I exchange it?

You will have to upgrade to (at least) Lion, 10.7.5, better would be to upgrade to Mavericks if your Mac can support it.
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

  • Replacing a mobile media setup with a Mac Pro

We have a mobile media setup that consists of an aging Xserve, Promise array with a fiber channel connection.  We have a Mac Pro that connects to the array for video editing, an iMac also for video, plus a couple of Macbooks that connect via Ethernet working on sound and stills.  This is used on a serious level, 3 times a year and by all accounts, it is under-utilized.
As this equipment is 3 years old, we want to upgrade and, if possible compact this into a smaller space.  I was hoping a thunderbolt array would work however since it is DAS, sharing out the media assets simultaneously seems to be an issue (max 4 workstations)
I am wondering if I can load up a Mac Pro with 4 drives and somehow get that to function both as the main production workstation AND a SAN to the other machines?  Or if anyone know another way I can convert a T/B array from a DAS to a shared asset?
I am fairly new to those so my apologies is this is overly simplified or unclear.

Thanks... We are not having to change yet however there is always something new, right around the corner, that will (in theory) make for a better solution.
The TB missing on the Pro line is not really an issue at this time since TB devices are direct attached and we need to serve up the assets to multiple machines.  Someday there will be a TB switch (of sorts) but for now, I am still wondering if I can collapse all this down to a Mac Pro with lots of drives.

  • Mobile me sync on my mac

I have an established iCal calendar called "On My Mac" that I created years ago.  Now I have a new calendar called "[email protected]" that was created when I signed up for a MobileMe account.  How do I the two to sync so that I just have one calendar?

  • HT1277 Since I upgraded to iCloud, I cannot use my mobile me account on my mac

I cannot log into my account after having changed my password on the internet. I tried entering that same password on my computer mail account, but it won't work.

Well, I just found out I have to upgrade to OSX Lion in order to get my mail on my iMac. I mean, I get it if I go to iCloud on my mac, but I cannot get my mail on my Mac mail any longer. As I did research on this issue, I found out that once I moved my mac.account to iCloud, it was only a matter of time before the mac mail would stop working.
All I can say is, I'm glad it only cost $30 to upgrade.
I still think it's unfair though. They should have warned us before we moved to iCloud that this would happen.
